The babysitter, Preston Nelson, was arrested and charged with homicide.     The Retrial of a (Black) Texas Corpse-raper Imprisoned Despite an Overturned Conviction
Jerry HartfieldJerry Hartfield, 59, has been in prison since 1977 even though his original murder conviction was overturned in 1980. A Texas jury found him guilty of the crime for a second time. In 1977, a jury convicted Hartfield, who is black, of the 1976 rape and murder of Eunice Lowe, a white 55-year-old bus-station ticket agent in Bay City, Texas. Three years later, Texas’s highest criminal appeals court overturned the conviction, citing jury selection issues, and ordered a retrial—an order the prosecution fought for years. Before that retrial began, however, then-Texas Governor Mark White commuted Hartfield’s death sentence to life imprisonment in 1983. There was only one catch: Because Hartfield’s original conviction had been vacated, he legally had no death sentence for the governor to commute. But since no one realized this at the time, or for decades afterward, Hartfield stayed in prison and served the commuted life sentence without retrial. Hartfield, who reportedly has an IQ of 51, did not realize he was serving a life sentence. - (Black-on-white)

Chloe Caron said her mother, Danielle Caron, originally was from Pacific Palisades, an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood, but spent almost two decades in Santa Cruz., Calif., before moving to the Big Island a couple of years ago. “She graduated from college with a master’s (degree) in teaching,” Chloe Caron said. “She’s talented. She’s artistic; she can draw. She has a genius IQ. She’s a loving woman with an addiction problem. She moved to the Big Island. I lived on Kauai for five years. I moved her out there myself to give her a new opportunity to change for the better. When I moved her out to Hawaii, I was with her for about a month, so I know that she was sober. For a while, she was working on an organic farm and she was trying to pretty much survive.” Chloe Caron said she last talked to her mother about a month ago. “When I read the news, it breaks my heart to read ‘homeless woman murdered.’ That’s not who she was,” Chloe Caron said. “She had a lot to give people. She was kind. She wasn’t a homeless addict who robbed people or anything like that.” Curtis Hodges, a 35-year-old man from Shiloh, Ill., was arrested Friday at the Hilo Bay Hostel and charged with Danielle Caron’s murder. Surveillance video of the area led to his arrest, police said. - (Black-on-white)

The arson and obstruction of justice sentences are to run concurrently, but they will begin after the manslaughter sentence ends. Baham was convicted in May.

King was stabbed 13 times and her home set on fire in the early morning hours of Feb. 23, 2012. Two other defendants had already pleaded guilty for their roles in the crime. Andrew Sumner, 22, of Slidell, who pled guilty March 9 to manslaughter, aggravated arson, and obstruction of justice, is set for sentencing on Aug. 29. Sumner's "wife", Katelyn Lusich, 21, who pled guilty in November 2014 to obstruction of justice, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. The murder of King stemmed from a plan to rob her of prenoscription pills and money by Baham and Sumner.

When they got to the apartment, King who had sold pills to Sumner multiple times, grew suspicious and began asking questions soon after the men entered her apartment. Baham then punched her, grabbed her from behind, and began stabbing her, and Sumner took pills and cash from the apartment, fleeing with Lusich, who at the time was 17 years old, pregnant, and waiting in the car. Sumner and Lusich stashed the pills and cash in a safe at the home of Sumner's mother, where they had been living. "Sumner went back to pick up Baham from a park near King's apartment, and both of them returned to Sumner's house, where they siphoned gasoline from a boat in the yard. They backtracked to King's apartment about 4 a.m., and Baham set it on fire." Firefighters determined that an accelerant had been used at the fire, and phone records led police investigators to Sumner, who later implicated Baham. - (Black-on-white)

DNA evidence found on a glove helps to crack a 16-year-old murder case of a (White) great grandmother, 84, who was strangled after she left a Detroit diner (by a brutal black beast with a Nigerian name)
Nosakhare N. OnumonuHelen KlocekA murder case which lay unsolved for the past 16 years has finally been unraveled thanks to DNA evidence found on a glove. The 1999 murder of Helen Klocek, 84, from Plymouth Township looked as if it would remain an unsolved cold case due to a lack of evidence. But it was cracked after investigators ran DNA tests on a glove that was left at the murder scene and matched the DNA to a convicted felon who was in jail and was set to be released imminently for another crime. The DNA belonged to Nosakhare Onumonu, a four-time convicted felon who had prior convictions and lived close to where the elderly woman's body was found. Klocek was murdered after she left the Brothers Family Restaurant on March, 2 1999 and headed toward her Plymouth Township apartment. Her body was found in an alley behind behind Calvary AME Zion Church on Detroit's west side, according to The Detroit Free Press. The widower had suffered a broken right collarbone, broken sternum, nine broken ribs and had defense wounds on her hands and arms. An eyewitness reported seeing a woman matching Klocek 'with a worried look on her face wearing a beige trench coat' driving slowly east on Joy Road, near where Klocek's body was found. She also spotted 'a young black man in the front passenger seat of the Escort, 'pointing as if to direct the driver.' - (Black-on-white)

(White) Mom, 2 Children Recovering After Stolen Vehicle In High-Speed Chase Crashes Into Their Car
Heather Bach and injured children Amelia and NoahRaymon BrownPITTSBURGH — Two children continue to recover from serious injuries after the car that their mother was driving was struck by a vehicle in a high-speed police pursuit on Route 51. “It’s a miracle that they are alive,” said Cindy West, of North Versailles. It was late Monday night when the car her daughter was driving was struck by a speeding, stolen vehicle being chased by Stowe Township Police. West’s daughter, Heather Bach, had two of her children in the car with her at the time. They were going to the airport to pick up a foreign exchange student from China. West told KDKA-TV’s Ralph Iannotti, “If it had been another foot or two my daughter and the children would have all been killed by the car that hit them. He was going superfast.” Police said the car, reported stolen from Dormont last week and being operated by 19-year-old Raymon Brown was going nearly 100 miles an hour when it slammed into Bach’s Toyota at a Route 51 intersection. Brown was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. According to a criminal complaint, he told a nurse there, “I smoked weed and took ‘percs’ before the crash.” West says her granddaughter, 11-year-old Amelia was most seriously hurt. She’s now in critical condition after major surgery. She was riding in the front seat of the car with her mother. West’s grandson, Noah, “is stable with somewhat serious injuries, but not as bad as his sister.” Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe page for the Bach family, to raise money to help pay for their medical expenses.     (Black) Judge finds (black) Taylor men guilty of misdemeanor assault in gas station beating (of White man)
Anthony ClarkDeangelo ClarkShannon WalkerRyan NasarzewskiA Wayne County judge found two Taylor men guilty of misdemeanor aggravated assault Tuesday in a gas station beating that left a Lincoln Park man hospitalized for a month. Wayne County Circuit Judge Shannon Walker rejected felony charges of assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to commit great bodily harm against Anthony Clark, 23, and his brother, Deangelo Clark, 22. Walker heard testimony on several days over the past two months, as the Clarks waived their right to a jury trial. Walker said she looked at the credibility of all the witnesses and considered the Clarks’ intent when they punched and kicked Ryan Nasarzewski, 29, of Lincoln Park, at the BP gas station at Telegraph and Wick roads in Taylor She said she believed the Clarks when they testified that they felt threatened by Nasarzewski. They testified that Nasarzewski called them a racial epithet and raised his arms in a threatening way.
Police say witnesses told them that two men were talking amongst themselves about selling drugs in the area and Nasarzewski allegedly said, “We don’t do that around here.” Witnesses said the two men got him down on the floor and kicked him in the head. Walker noted that not all witnesses who gave a statement to police testified at the trial. Nasarzewski testified last fall in District Court in Taylor that he had vision, hearing and memory problems as a result of the beating, as well as a number of broken bones in his skull and several broken ribs. Family members said that for the first two weeks after the incident, they didn’t know if Nasarzewski would live. - (Black-on-white)
