  MEMPHIS, TN - Police arrested a man accused of robbing and pepper spraying a 91-year-old woman in her driveway. March 8, the woman told police that someone took her purse and car keys and threw a liquid in her face. Police said they saw an orange-colored stain on her shirt and face, which could be either mace or pepper spray. She was also cut on her left wrist. She said her purse was in her lap and her car keys were in her hand at the time of the robbery. Later, police learned that the victim's credit card was used at several stores in North Memphis, including a purchase at The Highway Express on North Watkins and three separate purchases at Exline Pizza in Frayser less than an hour after the robbery happened. Some of these purchases were caught on surveillance cameras. Investigators later developed 22-year-old Terry Yarber as a suspect. Police said he identified himself as the man in surveillance stills from The Highway Express and Exline Pizza, and he admitted to using the victim's credit card at both locations. Yarber is charged with aggravated robbery, two counts of identity theft, four counts of forgery, and and four counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card.

Michigan State Police records show Cuti had a troubled past. Convictions ranging from retail fraud and assault to most recently malicious destruction of property. Aurich says he had an ongoing battle with drugs.   A man who police believe was fatally stabbed early Saturday inside his Westmoreland Street home was an executive vice president of SunTrust Bank. Brian E. Szabo, 55, lived with his wife in the 100 block of Westmoreland Street. Richmond police were called about 2:11 a.m. Saturday to Szabo’s home for a report of a person down. When officers arrived, they found Szabo in the residence suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said detectives believe the incident stemmed from an argument with Nigel E. Walker, 26 — described as a close family friend — who fled the house after the attack. A few hours later, about 5 a.m., Walker returned to the home and surrendered while police were still processing the scene. Walker was arrested and charged with murder. Police did not say how Walker and Szabo were acquainted but said Walker was a guest at the home. A close friend and co-worker of Szabo’s said Walker was a friend of the family who got to know them through Szabo’s daughter. Long-missing Bobbie Maples suffocated, face taped, head in bag: just-released court record
MUSKEGON, MI – Bobbie Maples died of suffocation from her mouth and nose being covered with duct tape, and her head was in a tied-off plastic bag, the Roosevelt Park police chief said in a sworn statement that led to an arrest warrant charging a man with her murder. Ronald Earl Williams, the man charged with open murder in Maples' December 2014 death, "admitted to us to being the only person present during the time of her death," Chief David Boone said March 23 to Muskegon County District Magistrate Michael Van Epps. "He's claiming that he was the one that administered drugs to her at that time," Boone said in his recorded statement. Maples' body was found in January 2016 buried on property on Michillinda Road in northern Muskegon County. - (Black-on-white)

After Williams was charged, the affidavit for the search warrant that led to discovery of Maples' buried body was unsealed. That Jan. 22 affidavit, a sworn statement written by Roosevelt Park Police Officer Robert Sypien, cites Williams' 41-year-old sister, Ronesha Aunu Williams, as the source of the tip that led to Maples' body being unearthed. In his statement to a Muskegon County 60th District Court magistrate, the officer said he had spoken with Ronesha Williams that day. She told the officer that she had visited her brother at a home on Michillinda Road around the time Maples was reported missing. "While at the Michillinda Road address, Ronesha Williams observed a large object rolled up in a comforter, estimated by Ronesha to be at least a queen size comforter," Sypien wrote.
  Later, Ronesha Williams said, she spoke with her brother's girlfriend, Tara Lynn Glaser. Glaser allegedly told her that around the time of Maples' disappearance, "Ronald Williams buried an object at 5265 Nestrom Road in the area of a detached pole barn, and that Ronald Williams then poured concrete over the object that had been buried."

South Texas (Hispanic 'Vampire') set to die said he drank victim’s blood
HUNSTVILLE — Pablo Lucio Vasquez remembered getting drunk and high on an April evening in 1998 before leaving a party with his 15-year-old cousin and his cousin’s 12-year-old friend. Vasquez later would tell detectives that as they reached a wooden shed, he started hearing voices telling him to kill the younger boy, David Cardenas. So he hit the seventh-grader in the head from behind with a pipe, cut his throat and lifted the still-conscious victim so blood would drip on the 20-year-old Vasquez’s face. “Something just told me to drink,” Vasquez said in a videotaped statement to police in Donna, a small town in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley. “You drink what?” a detective asked. “His blood,” Vasquez replied. Authorities found the body — missing some limbs — five days later under scraps of aluminum in a vacant field. A blood trail showed it was dragged to the site. “They decided they were going to try to take his head off with a shovel and didn’t realize that it was a lot more difficult to cut someone’s head off." Three other relatives of Chapa and Vasquez received probation and a small fine for helping cover up the slaying. One of them was deported to Guatemala.

Uber Rider Leads Cops on Chase While Driver Sleeps, Crashes: Police
An Uber passenger who took the wheel while the driver slept crashed in New York while trying to elude police, authorities said. State police said 20-year-old New York City resident Juan Carlos hired the car in Philadelphia to take him 200 miles to central New York. Police said the driver asked Carlos, of the Bronx, to take the wheel Saturday while he napped, and a trooper later clocked Carlos going 86 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 81 near Binghamton. When the Uber driver woke up and asked Carlos why he was driving so fast, Carlos told him it was because police were chasing them and refused to pull over, authorities said. Carlos soon crashed into a guard rail, according to police. Both he and the Uber driver suffered minor injuries. Carlos was charged with fleeing police and driving without a license. It wasn't clear if he has a lawyer.

Bourbon Street shooter Trung Le sentenced to maximum 60 years
Trung Le, the Belle Chasse man who started a Bourbon Street gunfight that left a woman dead, nine people wounded and New Orleans' tourism image scarred in June 2014, was sentenced Monday (April 4) to 60 years in prison. A jury took less than two hours in January to reject Le's claim of self-defense and find him culpable in the death of (black) 21-year-old Brittany Thomas. The young nursing student from Hammond was shot in the back of her head as she and others scattered and ran from gunfire exchanged in the 700 block of Bourbon Street at 2:45 a.m. on June 29, 2014.

Chinese man accused of pushing wife's hands into deep fat fryer in fight at Long Island restaurant
OCEANSIDE, Long Island -- A Long Island man is accused of an attack on his wife inside their Oceanside restaurant. Xiuling Xiao, 39, was arrested Sunday night after police say he grabbed his wife by the back of her head and forced her hands into a vat of boiling oil at their Chinese restaurant. Police say the couple was engaged in a verbal argument at the time. The woman is being treated for second-degree burns. Police say the couple's 12- and 14-year-old daughters were there when it happened. Xiao is being charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

(Asian) Teacher fired over sex abuse claims sues to get his job back
A former Queens high school teacher axed after he was accused of forcing a student to perform a sex act is suing the city Education Department for firing him, and wants his old job back. Jinwoo Seong, who taught at Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village until his termination in November, says that the school’s investigation “ignored numerous and glaring red flags,” that the allegations against Seong were “false and part of a conspiracy by a group of close-knit students” to get him fired. One of the students involved in the conspiracy — whom the papers identify as “student A” — reported that Seong took out his “private part” and “ejaculated into his hand” during a 4-minute break between classes. “We will review the suit to determine whether these allegations have any merit,” a spokesman with the city’s law department said.

  SAVANNAH, GA Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police arrested Mike Roscoe Small, 27, of North Charleston, SC, on April 2, charging him with kidnapping across state lines and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in reference to an investigation that originated in Myrtle Beach, SC. The victim, a 16-year-old female, was reported missing in Myrtle Beach on March 28. She was reportedly with Small since that time. At about 2 p.m. the victim notified family members of her location and provided a denoscription of the suspect’s vehicle. Family members notified Myrtle Beach investigators, who advised SCMPD, prompting officers to immediately respond DeRenne Avenue and White Bluff Road. Marked and unmarked SCMPD units spotted the suspect’s vehicle.The teen, who reportedly had no prior contact with Small before March 28, was safely recovered by Metro officers.

  Daytona Beach, FL-Police in Daytona Beach think the same suspects may have victimized Spring Breakers in a trio of strong-arm robberies. One suspect, 19-year-old Symian Wesley, was reportedly taken into custody Sunday. The robberies happened between March 23 and March 25 and the suspects have all been black males. The first happened at about 1:40 AM on Grandview Avenue and Glenview Boulevard. All the suspects are between 20 and 25 years old.

Previously Deported Illegal Alien Gets 24 Months in Prison
CONCORD, NH - An illegal alien from the Dominican Republic that was previously deported a few years ago was sentenced last week to 24 months in prison for illegally trying to obtain a New Hampshire driver's license. Edwin Orlando Tejeda Aria, of the Dominican Republic, pled guilty to illegally reentering the United States after having been previously deported back in 2011, according to U.S. Attorney Emily Gray Rice.

Hispanic Double-murder suspect shot after he 'blessed himself then pulled gun on cops"
A suspect in the murders of a woman and her adult son on Staten Island last week was arrested Monday night in Pennsylvania, authorities said. Suspect Anthony Morales, 49, “made the sign of the cross, and then he pulled out a gun, at which time, members of the task force fired,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told reporters Tuesday. Morales, who is from Staten Island, was critically wounded and apprehended. Officials said authorities caught up to him in the small town of Hamburg along the Schuylkill River. They found Morales sitting in his car, which was in a parking lot, and moved in to make the arrest. “Members of the task force tactically approached. … As they approached, they gave him several commands to put his hands up,” Boyce said. “He refused. At this point,” he blessed himself, drew his gun and was shot, Boyce said. The official said an NYPD detective fired three times, a US Marshall fired six times, and a Berks County Sheriff fired once.
