HarambeMichelle Gregg"Little black Sambo"CINCINNATI — Animal rights activists gathered Monday for a Memorial Day vigil for the gorilla killed at the Cincinnati Zoo after a 4-year-old boy slipped into an exhibit and a special zoo response team concluded his life was in danger. Anthony Seta of Cincinnati called the 17-year-old western lowland gorilla’s death “a senseless tragedy,” but said the purpose Monday wasn’t to point fingers but a tribute to the gorilla named Harambe. “People can shout at the parents and people can shout at the zoo,” Seta said. “The fact is that a gorilla that just celebrated his birthday has been killed.” The gorilla’s birthday was May 27, the day before he was shot.
“I heard the exchange while I’m waiting. ‘I’m going to go in.’ ‘No, you’re not.’ ‘I’m going to go in.’ ‘No, you’re not.’ The mother turns around to her other children,” O’Connor said. The outrage against Gregg has also caused others who share her name to receive angry Facebook messages. One Cleveland mother named Michelle Gregg changed her Facebook profile photo to a picture that says, “This Michelle has never even been to the Cincinnati Zoo! Neither has my 5-year-old son!”

Child rescued from zoo's gorilla enclosure; Unarmed silverback gorilla shot dead
HarambeCINCINNATI, OH - A 17-year-old Western Lowland Gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical was shot dead after dragging a child who wandered into the animal’s exhibit Saturday. The 4-year-old boy was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Authorities described his injuries as serious and non-life threatening. Zoo Director Thane Maynard said the boy crawled through a barrier and into the exhibit’s moat around 4 p.m. Fire officials at the scene witnessed the gorilla "violently dragging and throwing the child," according to a release from Cincinnati Fire Department. The boy was conscious through the entire 10-minute ordeal. “The reason the tranquilizing was not chosen is that in an agitated situation, which the male was, it may take quite a while for a tranquilizer to take effect,” said Maynard.

Oakland police seek (black) persons of interest in killing of (White) scientist
Brian BolesuspectsuspectsuspectsuspectsuspectAuthorities in the East Bay hope recently uncovered security video will help them track down the killer of a 30-year-old scientist who was gunned down last month in his quiet Oakland neighborhood. The video shows Brian Bole, described by a friend as “peaceful, gentle and friendly,” encountering people minutes before the slaying, which occurred as he walked home around midnight on April 10 after a night out with friends, police said. The gunman opened fire on the usually quiet 3000 block of Richmond Avenue, and Bole, a former NASA contractor, died. With no identified suspects in the case, detectives continue to seek a motive, and investigators turned to the public for help Thursday. Oakland police officials and the FBI released grainy photos of three “persons of interest” and a “vehicle of interest,” a 2003 to 2007 silver Honda Accord, captured on security cameras at businesses along the route he walked. He said video showed Bole “coming into contact” with several people as he walked from a Telegraph Avenue bar to the dimly-lit, tree-lined street where his body was found. - (Black-on-white)

Chainsaw-dismembered remains (of white female) found in acid-filled barrel - her black husband confessed to gruesome murder
Steven Williamsvictim with offspring of mixed-race fornicationTricia ToddHOBE SOUND, Fla. -- Crime scene technicians unearthed partial remains believed to be a missing south Florida mother after her ex-husband, who is charged with her murder, led them to the place where he said he buried her in an acid-filled barrel in a shallow grave in the Hungryland Wildlife Management Area. The remains that are likely U.S. Air Force veteran Tricia Todd were located 19 miles away from her Hobe Sound home and just outside investigators' original search area, a 15-mile perimeter near Todd's home. "(The grave) is nothing more than a simple hole maybe three feet deep. The body was in a container," said Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder at a press conference at the preserve on Thursday evening. Snyder said the body was mutilated and appeared to have been dismembered with a chainsaw. Snyder described the container as filled with fluid that a Haz-mat team on the scene believed to be acid and said DNA testing will confirm whether the remains are, indeed, those of Tricia Todd. On Wednesday, the Martin County Sheriff's Office announced that Todd's former husband, Steven Williams, confessed to her murder. In exchange for pleading no contest to second-degree murder and receiving a sentence of 35 years in a state prison, Williams agreed to lead them to the body, officials say. - (Black-on-white)

  • Obama in Hiroshima: The Right Thing to Do - By Michael Hoffman
Admiral Leahy told him as early as 1943 that the Japanese had been trying to surrender to US forces. After this peace deal was rebuffed by President Roosevelt, tens of thousands of US Marines and sailors, and hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians were killed, sacrificed on the altar of Roosevelt’s doctrine of “unconditional surrender.” Franklin Roosevelt was the presidential criminal who had allowed Pearl Harbor to be attacked. He knew in advance that the attack was coming in December 1941. Obama’s next conciliatory visit should be in Dresden, Germany, the site of yet another genuine holocaust on par with Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
