In a dramatic twist, (White) dad turns to TV to defend family from (black) armed burglar in Kansas City home
suspectsuspectJohn SullivanKANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A burglar walked right into a Kansas City home and pointed a gun at the people who live there, demanding money. The father turned to defend his family . “I hopped up and grabbed it and just threw it like that at him and chased him out,” said John Sullivan, as he re-enacted what happened when he hurled his 30-pound, 50-inch flat screen TV across his living room at the guy.” That “guy” was a burglar who walked right through Sullivan’s unlocked front door and pointed a gun at him. “I just jumped up,” Sullivan said. “I wasn`t thinking, just threw the TV at him, and charged right at him, screaming as loud as I can. So it was all instinct.” It was the instinct to protect his family – as his wife sat just feet away from him in the living room, and his four little boys, ages 3 to 10, were tucked into their beds upstairs. “They mean the world to me,” he said, “and all I could think about was protecting them the whole time and to just get that guy out of the house.” Thankfully, Sullivan’s defense tactics worked. He scared off the burglar and his lookout, who both ran down the driveway and hopped into a getaway car. “Just the invasion of property, you know?” Sullivan said of the most upsetting part. “They walked up, and threatened my family with a gun in my own living room. It`s troubling.” It was a scary scenario Sullivan knows could've ended badly, but actions he wouldn't change – saying he would've taken a bullet if it meant keeping safe what means the most. “Everything was on the line,” Sullivan said. “My whole family. So I had to do what I had to do to protect them.” Sullivan said the burglars were black men in their 20s. The one toting the gun was heavier-set, wearing a navy blue jacket, and a red and black Chiefs hat. - (Black-on-white)

Court: Anti-psychotic can be forcibly administered to (crazy Chinese) doctor Lishan Wang on trial for murder
Lishan WangCONNECTICUT -- Connecticut authorities can forcibly administer anti-psychotic medicine on a mentally ill doctor charged in the murder of a Yale University physician so he can be competent to stand trial, the state Supreme Court ruled Tuesday. Justices released a 7-0 decision that rejected the appeal of Lishan Wang, whose lawyer argued that medicating Wang against his will would violate his constitutional rights to a fair trial and to mental and physical bodily integrity, as well as conflict with a 2003 U.S. Supreme Court ruling restricting involuntary medication of defendants. Wang, a Chinese citizen from Beijing, is charged with murder in the 2010 fatal shooting of Dr. Vajinder Toor outside Toor’s home in Branford. He is also charged with attempted murder on allegations he shot at Toor’s pregnant wife, who wasn’t injured. Wang has pleaded not guilty, and he has insisted he is competent and doesn’t need medication.

Benjamin Lee Harris went to prison in that case and then again for a 2010 armed robbery in St. Paul. He got out of prison on supervised release in June from the 2010 robbery, but the Minnesota Department of Corrections issued a warrant for alleged violation of his release in July. DOC and law enforcement were trying to locate him, according to a Corrections spokesman. Mikulak’s family is struggling to make sense of what happened and of Harris’ criminal past. “It’s really sad that (Harris) was wanted already, and they couldn’t catch him, and now an innocent man lost his life,” said Nicole Gonzalez, who had a 16-year-old daughter with Mikulak. - (Black-on-white)
