Wali Mujahidh who pleaded guilty last year to conspiring to murder US officers - gets 17 years free room and board
A man who hoped to become a “martyr” in an attack on a Seattle military installation was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison on Monday. My actions were cowardly and shameful. I accept full responsibility.” The letter is far more remorseful than statements Mujahidh made to FBI agents and Seattle police investigators after his arrest in 2011. Mujahidh said then that he and co-conspirator Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif – both converts to a radical form of Islam – sought revenge.

George Harasz (l.) and Douglas Wirth (r.), The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. "Married" couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault. Police said two boys, ages 5 and 15, accused Harasz of sexually assaulting them. Harasz was initially facing first-degree sexual assault and other charges, while Wirth had been charged with third-degree sexual assault of the 15-year-old boy.

Thomas Lewis HaywoodA man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting his elderly mother at her East Austin home. Thomas Lewis Haywood, 67, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, a first degree felony. Court documents say the 85-year-old victim had been asleep in her bedroom and woke up to her son standing over her. She told him to get out of her room and tried to push him out, but he told her that he "liked" her and sexually assaulted her. When Haywood left the room she was able to lock the door. She told investigators she wasn't able to immediately call the police because the phone was dead and there was no dial tone. She fell asleep again, but woke up to her son lying next to her. She contacted the police and when they interviewed her son he said that his girlfriend had left him and he was sad so he went into his mother's room and started touching her to be comforted. He admitted that he got "carried away," according to the affidavit.
