Police say Love's DNA was found on the body of Laura Hunding, who was stabbed to death in her apartment in July 1989. When located and questioned by police on May 12, Love denied any knowledge of Hunding or her homicide nearly 25 years ago. "He claimed he had never 'messed with' White women, has never been to the victim's apartment complex and was not at all familiar with the east side of Phoenix." On Friday, police located and arrested Love after the agency's crime lab determined there was no mistaking Love's DNA to the DNA at the scene because "the approximate incidence of this profile is 1 in 110 quadrillion African Americans," records show.

Michael Juan SmithRyan EllisonMartha ChildressMartha Childress COLUMBIA, SC - The man charged in the Five Points shooting that injured a University of South Carolina student said the media was making a big deal out of the case because the victim was white. Michael Juan Smith was sentenced to the maximum 10 years in federal court Friday. Smith still faces state charges related to the shooting. If convicted on those charges, he must serve the 10-year federal sentence in addition to what time he receives from the state. Smith was charged with assault and battery and several weapons-related charges after the shooting in Five Points in 2013 that left Martha Childress paralyzed. Prosecutors played audio recordings of Smith's jail conversations, who said the media was making a big deal about the case "because she's white."     Black Okla. teen faces accessory charge in shooting of White baseball player from Australia - shot in back while jogging
James Edwards Christopher LaneMichael Dewayne JonesChancey LunaDUNCAN, Okla. - A 16-year-old boy accused in the shooting death of a baseball player from Australia will no longer face a first-degree murder charge and is testifying against two teenage co-defendants. The Stephens County District Attorney's Office filed a motion to dismiss the murder charge against James Francis Edwards Jr. Prosecutors filed a new charge of accessory after the fact in juvenile court against Edwards in the shooting death of Chris Lane, 22. Edwards testified against 18-year-old Michael Dewayne Jones and 17-year-old Chancey Luna during their preliminary hearings and is expected to testify against them at trial in August. Both are charged with first-degree murder. Prosecutors had earlier said they would dismiss the first-degree murder charge against Edwards in exchange for his continued testimony. Evidence gathered since the killing "tends to further implicate Chancey Luna and Michael Jones and further casts doubt on the role of Edwards in the murder of Christopher Lane," according to the motion. Lane was shot while jogging along a tree-lined road in Duncan while visiting his girlfriend's parents in August. Investigators said he was randomly targeted by "bored" teenagers. Edwards' mother, Brenda Edwards, had been in prison for drug charges.
