Anne-Marie and Omar travelled to his native The Gambia to marry in 2006 - but she said she immediately regretted it. Anne-marie said Omar was aggressive and violent when they returned to the UK and spoke of one harrowing incident - which he denies - when she said he whipped her with a belt. The court heard on September 1 last year police were called around 3pm following reports of a woman stabbed at a property in Hatherley Road. There officers and paramedics found Leighann Duffy in her living room suffering from stab wounds to her arm and neck.  A woman who was conned out of £50,000 by her Senegalese husband in a immigration marriage scam wants to help other women avoid the same fate. Kim Sow, 58, from Dover, has been calling for the government to take action since her husband Laye walked out on her after obtaining his British citizenship. She had no idea that Laye had been in the UK illegally and that he was already married to at least two other women. Kim, a music producer was 49 when she first met Laye, then 43, in a London nightclub in 2007. She said there was an 'instant attraction' and their romance had a 'normal progression to a full-on relationship'. He told her he was a widower supporting three young children in Senegal. Kim said she had no reason not to believe him as he even had his wife's death certificate to prove it. 'He said he was religious man so couldn't live with me if we weren't married. He told me he didn't believe in polygamy and didn't do affairs. Using the social network site, Kim discovered Laye hadn't lied about the death of his first wife, with whom he had one child. But he had gone on to marry another woman in Africa with whom he had his two other children. He had then married a Dutch woman and another English women and ripped them off in similar circumstances to his dealings with Kim. Malachi Halstead was in a relationship with several women at once, sparking a row with his partner Samantha Bowden. During the fight, the 33-year-old kicked her between her legs, leading her to require hospital treatment. Newport Crown Court heard that Halstead, who DJs under the names 'Madman' and 'Madskie', admits that 'fidelity is not his strongest quality'. Photographs of him on nights out which have been posted on Facebook show him posing for dozens of photographs with different young women. Halstead was sentenced to two and a half years in prison over the attack on Miss Bowden, 26, in July last year. The assault took place at her home in Newport, South Wales. The DJ, who has the word 'Madman' tattooed across his back, has previously been spent time in jail for a variety of offences.

Derek Onodjamue, 27, of Elephant and Castle, south London, was found guilty of rape, false imprisonment and ABH and sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court. The court heard how the victim, a 17-year-old girl, owed money to Onodjamue, who the girl knew only as 'Dan'. On September 5, the victim arranged to meet 'Dan' to discuss the debt and was taken to a nearby flat. Once inside she was locked and subjected to a horrifying ordeal. Onodjamue forced her hand inside a kettle while it was turned on and whipped her with an electrical cord. He also forced the victim to perform oral sex on him, threatening her with further violence throughout. - (UK) |

Caine Inyanga, 19, was spared jail after he floored Adam Turner in the violent early morning attack that left the tool maker unconscious on the ground. Turner, also aged 19, approached Inyanga in the early hours of the morning in McDonald's in Middlesbrough, Teesside, and asked if he had a cigarette lighter. After receiving no response from the chemical engineering student the victim turned to Inyanga's female companion and asked the same question. Inyanga, who had been drinking and taking drugs, demanded Mr Turner and his friend 'get outside now,' said prosecutor Emma Atkinson. The pair made it clear they did not want to fight, but he punched both of them, Teesside Crown Court heard. The blow to Mr Turner caused him to fall to the floor and he lost consciousness. UK: 13 Somali men guilty of enforced prostitution and rape of vulnerable girls in Bristol  Thirteen men, all of Somali origin, have been found guilty of the systematic sexual abuse of vulnerable schoolgirls and teenagers in Bristol. The victims, some of whom were in local authority care, were groomed and passed around by their abusers – often for money – and assaulted in homes, parks and a hotel. One of the girls was raped at the age of 13 on the same night by three different men, including a stranger, and thought her life would be in danger if she went to the police. Another girl was sexually exploited after a local authority outside Bristol set her up alone in a flat at the age of 16 in a deprived inner-city neighbourhood although she had been described as having the emotional development of a three-year-old. UK: Two teenage girls arrested after London gang stab father, 38, to death in front of horrified parents taking children home from nearby schools  Four people including two teenage girls were being questioned last night over the fatal stabbing of a father in front of children and parents on the school run. They were arrested along with two young men after 38-year-old Zydrunas Laurinavicius was murdered on Thursday afternoon. The builder was walking along a street with his father when he was jumped by a gang who tried to run off with his bag. When he refused to hand it over, they took out knives and slashed his arm and chest, witnesses said. One of the group also attacked his father, who survived only to watch his son die in his arms. Last night, devastated friends paid tribute to Mr Laurinavicius, a Lithuanian described as a ‘dedicated worker and loving father’. Officers from the Met Police, meanwhile, continued to question two men aged 19 and 20 and two girls aged 16 and 17 in connection with the killing. Mr Laurinavicius, who has lived in the UK for many years, had been working with his father Pranas, 67, to renovate a £1.6million detached house in Hendon, north west London. They were targeted as they walked in a leafy area close to St Mary’s Church of England High School, Hendon School and a nursery as parents were taking children home. Rebecca Watton, 29, of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, was in a relationship with Ian Hassen, 27, for eight years and the couple had three (illegitimate biracial) children together. They split in December 2012 but she remained friendly with Hassen, a Zimbabwean. The pair met through friends and moved to Scotland in 2004. However, it later emerged that Hassen refused to accept their relationship was at an end. One night Hassen looked after the children at Ms Watton's home while she went on a night out. She came home and Hassen left, but soon returned claiming he had missed his train. He then attacked her as the pair sat watching television, pulling something tight around Ms Watton's neck and then tying her up. He began interrogating her about where she had been and who she had seen. 'I knew he had read my phone messages so I confessed I had met someone on the night out who had taken my number and asked me out on a date,' she said. Infuriated, Hassen kept her prisoner, assaulted her and threatened to kill her. He lay next to her in bed and watched her sleep. After three days he dragged her out of bed, muttering that he was going to wait a week, but was going to do 'it' now. The pensioner was at a bus stop on Fortis Green, Haringey, when a man approached her and struck up a conversation before assaulting her, the Met said. The alleged victim then boarded the 102 bus to Muswell Hill which she had been waiting for, and was not followed on board. Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward over the alleged assault, which took place at around 10.30am on Saturday, March 1 with no arrests yet made. UK: Black suspect named in hunt for killer of White Leeds man  Detectives have released details of a man they urgently want to trace in connection with the murder of Colin Pierre in Leeds. Officers want to speak to Anthony Micah Pyke, aged 31, from Meanwood, Leeds, as part of the investigation into the death of Mr Pierre whose body was discovered in woods by school children near the junction of Gledhow Valley Road and Gledhow Lane in Chapel Allerton shortly after 8am on Tuesday March 11. Enquiries have shown he died from a single gunshot wound and is believed to have been shot at the scene at about 2am the same day. Detective Chief Inspector Jim Dunkerley of West Yorkshire Police said: “We are continuing enquiries into the death of Mr Pierre and would like to speak to anyone who has information about Anthony Micah Pyke. "As she waited the woman was approached by a man who asked her to sponsor him, but she declined," said Detective Constable Rachel Smith. "Initially the man walked away, but then returned a few seconds later and assaulted her. Once again he walked away, only to return a few seconds later and repeat his attack. "The victim was forced to leave the station because of the man's confrontational behaviour, and the man followed her before returning to the platform and boarding a train to Bedford." Officers have viewed CCTV from the station and have selected a number of images of a man they believe will have information on the attack and will be able to assist with their enquiries.
