Liam AdepoCory HubbardUPPER MARLBORO, Md. - A Maryland man was sentenced Friday in a hit-and-run crash that killed a University of Maryland student from New York. Thirty-year-old Liam Adepo of Hyattsville received the maximum of two-years in prison at his sentencing in Prince George's County Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty in November to leaving a fatal accident scene in a plea agreement with prosecutors, who dropped other charges in exchange. Adepo turned himself in on Jan. 18 last year, the day after police say he hit 22-year-old Cory Hubbard as he crossed Baltimore Avenue mid-block at 1:30 a.m. Hubbard, of West Hampton Beach, New York, died soon after. Adepo could have chosen to remain at the scene, render aid and accept the consequences of his actions, but instead he chose to flee the scene... this (type of) behavior simply will not be tolerated.” - (Black-on-white)

  • Double homicide complicates another criminal matter involving victim - dead White victim can no longer testify against blacks - Oct 28, 2014
David FudgeNana AdomaJamell Cureton CHARLOTTE, NC - Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life Service to remember Doug and Debbie London, the Lake Wylie couple shot to death in their home. Investigators don't believe this was a random crime. This was a couple twice victimized by violent crimes. In May, armed men tried to rob Doug London in the couple's Mattress Warehouse store. One of the robbers shot at Mr. London. Police arrested three men. What happens in court to that case now that Doug London can't testify? "Unless there is another witness who can come forward who was present at the time the robbery occurred, there's no case," said retired Assistant District Attorney Steve Ward. "There's nothing that can be done - simply by giving a statement to the police is not sufficient." Even though investigators likely collected evidence against the defendants, prosecutors needed Doug London. "The defendant has a right to cross examine their accuser in court" Ward said. "And if their accuser is no longer available, usually that's the end of the case." One of the defendants, David Fudge, pleaded guilty in September to accessory after the fact, and to robbery with a dangerous weapon. Cases are still pending against two other defendants. Nana Adoma is scheduled to have a pre-trial conference. Jamell Cureton is on the docket for an arraignment - to enter a plea. - (Black-on-white)

'Stings my arm, man!' Last words of Texas killer as he was executed - after he begged victim's relatives not to view his death as 'revenge'
Robert Ladd Vicki Ann GarnerTexas death row inmate Robert Ladd was executed this evening for the killing a 38-year-old woman nearly two decades ago while he was on parole for a triple slaying years earlier. Robert Ladd, 57, received a lethal injection after the US Supreme Court rejected arguments he was mentally impaired and ineligible for the death penalty. The court also rejected an appeal in which Ladd's attorney challenged whether the pentobarbital Texas uses in executions is potent enough to not cause unconstitutional pain and suffering. Ladd was put to death for the 1996 slaying of Vicki Ann Garner, of Tyler, who was strangled and beaten with a hammer. Her arms and legs were bound, bedding was placed between her legs, and she was set on fire in her apartment. He was pronounced dead at 7.02pm, 27 minutes after the drug was administered. Teresa Garner Wooten, Vicki's sister who was on hand Thursday to watch Ladd put to death, said that it has been a long time coming. 'I did not think, 18-plus years ago, that I would still be fighting for justice for her,' Mrs Wooten said. When he was arrested for Garner's slaying, Ladd had been on parole for about four years after serving about a third of a 40-year prison term for the slayings of a Dallas woman and her two children. He pleaded guilty to those crimes. - (Black-on-white)

UK: Machete Jihad: 19-year-old hacked to death outside pub in Gloucester - reported by daily europa
Zac Evans19-year-old Zac Evans was hacked to death with a machete outside a pub in Gloucester early Saturday morning in an attack that left another two men with serious injuries. Details are yet to emerge but suspicions are that Zac may have been beheaded by an Islamic extremist. This attack bares obvious similarities to the attack in Finland recently by a Somali immigrant who attacked three men outside a pub with a machete. British press have as usual not given any clue as to the perpetrators identity which usually means the attacker is an immigrant, possibly Muslim. Is this the start of a wave of machete Jihad attacks on European people outside pubs? Gloucester has a large Muslim population so it is reasonable to suspect that this attack was carried out by Muslims. - (UK)

Trial of black man accused of murdering a white man pushed back due to witness search
Limmie Greg Curry IIIWilliam “Billie” ReidThe murder trial for the man accused of murdering a Willow Creek resident in early 2010 was rescheduled during a trial readiness hearing Wednesday at the Humboldt County Superior Courthouse after the prosecution indicated a potential time conflict with another upcoming murder trial and a need to secure witnesses. Limmie Greg Curry III, 24, stood handcuffed in the courtroom wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. Curry is accused of murdering 46-year-old William “Billie” Reid on Feb. 3, 2010, at a rural property off State Route 299 near Willow Creek, allegedly to rob him and take over his marijuana growing operation. The prosecution also alleged that Curry and a conspirator — Reid’s roommate Eddie Lee — burned Reid’s body before burying the charred skeletal remains at the site of an old marijuana grow on Reid’s property. Lee was acquitted of his charges after Feeney ruled in October 2014 that there wasn’t enough evidence for the case to go to the jury. As a result of that decision, the district attorney’s office is barred from appealing and charging Lee with the same charges in the future. - (Black-on-white)
