Black "piece of scum" who kidnaped, raped and murdered a White woman is given life
Nickolas Miller Beverly Hope MeltonCOLUMBIA, SC - A man who admitted to raping, then killing a Kershaw County woman in 2011 has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Nickolas Miller, 26, pleaded guilty to murder, two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of solicitation to commit a felony and kidnapping. While in court, Miller admitted to abducting 30-year-old Hope Melton, raping her, then beating her to death with a baseball bat. He had nothing to say when given a chance to do so by the judge. Some of Melton's family were outraged and angry at a sheriff who was recently convicted of corruption and severely jeopardized the case. In court, Chanda Roscoe held back tears as she addressed the judge and her sister's killer. Chanda told Miller that he's afraid to die and told the 26-year-old he's a "piece of scum." "I hope that God shows him and gives him the same mercy that he showed my sister, and I hope he gets beat, and I hope he is tormented, and I hope he is mutilated just like he did my sister, because that's what he deserves," Roscoe said. Miller may be behind bars for the rest of his life, but for Melton's family, that's not enough. "I, myself, and my family wanted the death penalty,” Roscoe said. “He deserves to die, and he should die." Hope's mother, Elizabeth, said they were let down to some extent. - (Black-on-white)

SefrankaA Phoenix man was sentenced to 66 ½ years in prison on Friday morning for his role in a New Year's Eve 2013 shootout in east Phoenix that critically injured a Phoenix police officer and a Maricopa County sheriff's posse member who tried to help. Roger Allen Sharp, 27, had previously pleaded guilty to attempted murder and aggravated assault and other charges for his involvement in an armed robbery that escalated into an officer and bystander shooting on New Year's Eve 2013.     Only 65 years for (black) Gary man for 'hit' slaying of elderly White man because he fired a black woman from his towing company
Dontaye Deandre SingletarySheaurice Major (ordered hit)Carl Griffith Sr., 72The Gary man who murdered a Portage tow truck driver in a murder-for-hire scheme received the maximum possible sentence short of the death penalty. On Friday, Porter County Superior Judge Roger Bradford sentenced Dontaye Deandre Singletary, 22, of the 500 block of Pennsylvania Street, to 65 years in prison. Porter County Sheriff's officers then took Singletary to Lake County to face murder charges in another case. Bradford said that the impact that Singletary's absence would have on his children was the only mitigator, but aggravators included victim Carl Griffith Sr., 72, being older than 65, and Singletary having a significant juvenile criminal history. Bradford said Singletary could have faced the death penalty. Griffith's family would have preferred that. The only disappointment is that he didn't get the death penalty so we could watch his last breath," said Greg Griffith, the victim's son and spokesperson for the family. Singletary shot Griffith three times at about 8 p.m. Nov. 1, 2012, outside the victim's house in the 2700 block of Locust Street when Griffith went to get the newspaper. Antoinetta Johnson 34, was murdered in her Gary salon Dec. 13, 2012, in what the prosecution maintained was a hit Singletary ordered. In her police interview, Johnson said she set up the arrangement between Singletary and Sheaurice Major, 44, for $2,500 between Johnson and Singletary. Major wanted Griffith dead because he helped Major's ex-husband get out of prison and fire her from his Affordable Towing company. He's accused with five others of the murder of Franklin Simmons, 61, on Aug. 16. 2010, in the 1300 block of Johnson Street in Gary. - (Black-on-white)
