12-member jury on Saturday found Antonio Cochran guilty of
murder in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Zoe
Hastings.In doing so, the panel declined to find him guilty of capital murder, which would have sent him to prison automatically for life without the possibility of parole. The jury’s decision came as a great disappointment to the parents of Zoe Hastings, who clearly hoped the jury would find him guilty of capital murder. They were too upset to comment after the verdict was read. Hastings disappeared in October 2015 after leaving home to return a movie and attend church. Her body and the minivan were found the following day in a creek bed. The case against Cochran was a circumstantial case built largely around Cochran’s DNA being on the handle of the murder weapon, cell phone records and other DNA evidence showing he could not be excluded as a contributor of the DNA. - (Black-on-white) |

Alleged pimp dead after attacking (white) woman with good

Texas (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a bizarre scene that has
left an alleged pimp dead in northwest Houston. Police responded to
reports of a woman being attacked on Hempstead around 2:30 a.m. A
good Samaritan spotted the woman and attempted to help her, but
while trying to help, police say the alleged pimp threatened to
shoot the Samaritan. As the man was pulling away from the scene, the
woman attempted to jump inside his vehicle. Police say the alleged
pimp tried to pull the woman out the vehicle when he lost his grip,
fell on the asphalt and died. The
good Samaritan is reportedly a black male driving a
dark-colored truck. Investigators say the woman was sexually

prison. The victim, now 19, was eight months pregnant when she
was attacked in 2013.Sharon Jones, 47, was sentenced to 12 years; her daughter, Cecila McDonald, 28, was sentenced to seven years; and her 29-year-old son, Cedric Jones Jr, was sentenced to five years in prison. Each pleaded guilty to felony family violence aggravated assault. Another man, Lonnell McDonald, received 10 years in prison in 2016 after being convicted of aggravated assault in the attack.  The

second man has been arrested in the shooting of an off-duty Doral
police officer during an armed robbery, police said Friday.
Demetrius Jones, 23, is facing charges of attempted
second-degree murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery on a
person 65 or older and armed burglary, Miami-Dade Police officials
said. Kionne Bell, 22, was arrested Wednesday on similar
charges in the shooting of Lt.
Gary King.Police say King, 70, was ambushed along with his wife in the driveway of their Palmetto Bay home. King and his wife were followed home by Bell and Jones, officials said. During the robbery, there was a struggle and King was shot in the arm. He was hospitalized in stable condition and released from the hospital on Thursday. Phoenix man accused of burning women with glass pipe and lighter PHOENIX
- A Phoenix man has been indicted for allegedly kidnapping and
burning four women, and sexually assaulting one of them. On Friday,
a Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted 33-year-old Jonathan Jude
Rouzan on 33
counts of kidnapping, sexual assault, and aggravated assault on four
women from December 1 to January 3. Court documents show that the women, (one of which was under 15 years old), suffered violent assaults where they were punched, slammed into walls, choked and burned. Investigators say all four women were burned with either a glass pipe or lighter on their arms, legs, and buttocks. One victim was sexually assaulted multiple times, and all were beaten. |

LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Dieuson Octave, better known as rapper Kodak
Black, was arrested Thursday by the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Records show the 20-year-old rapper is facing charges of grand theft
of a firearm, possession of marijuana, child neglect, two counts of
possession of a weapon by a felon and two counts of probation
violation. Octave, who has 5 million followers on Instagram
and regularly shares videos and pictures of his son, was being
held at the main Broward County jail in Fort Lauderdale. A live
video was published on his Instagram account with audio of an
argument about whether or not he needed to turn in his cellphone to

Calif. (KABC) --Torrance police arrested five men from Houston,
Texas, on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and vehicle burglary
Wednesday. Authorities said the suspects were involved in "bank
juggling," which is a term that describes suspects who sit in bank
parking lots and watch customers carrying bank bags in order to rob
them or their vehicles. On Tuesday, a victim who left his bank bag
in his parked car lost $16,000 when it was broken into while he was
having lunch at a Taco Bell. Robbery suspects Darrian

Arizona man is accused of a stunning murder spree in which he killed
nine people in three weeks -- a rampage that would make him one of
the most prolific serial killers in the state's history.Cleophus Cooksey Jr., 35, was arrested on Dec. 17, 2017, after police responded to a call of shots fired in Phoenix. When officers arrived they found Cooksey’s mother and stepfather dead. Police said Thursday they did not link Cooksey to the other homicides until he was in custody. Cooksey's other alleged victims include the brother of his ex-girlfriend and various men and women of black, white and Hispanic race and ethnicity, AZ Central reported. The victims include: - Two men, Andrew Remillard, 27, and Parker Smith, 21, who were discovered dead Nov. 27. - One man, Salim Richards, 35, found critically wounded on Dec. 2, and later died at the scene. It was not immediately clear if Richards knew the suspect. Police said there were signs of robbery at the crime scene and a hangun was appeared to have been taken. - On Dec. 11, Jesus Bonifacio Real, 25, the brother of Cooksey’s former girlfriend, was murdered. - On Dec. 13, Latorrie Beckford, 29, was shot and killed. - On Dec. 16, 2017, Kristopher Cameron, 21, was discovered shot to death in a field. Police said Cameron appeared to have met with the suspect for a drug interaction. On the same day, Maria Villanueva, 43, was found dead. Villanueva was kidnapped from her car after the suspect approached her vehicle. The two drove off before Villanueva was found with signs of sexually assault and murdered, police said. - On Dec. 17, Rene Cooksey, 56, the suspect’s mother, and his stepfather, Edward Nunn, 54, were shot and killed. Cooksey was then arrested. Cooksey has a long criminal history, AZ Central reported. The suspect was convicted of manslaughter when he was 18. While in prison, he was found guilty of assaulting prison employees, drug possession and fighting. He was released from prison in January 2015 and received a DUI in November of that year. The suspect took up rapping following his prison release, going by the name "King Playbola." he posted videos on YouTube showcasing his skills. Cooksey, the grandson of a civil-rights leader Roy L. Cooksey, had a troubled childhood. He moved out when he was 16 years old. The suspect said he was abused by his father and was hospitalized when he was 12 years old. |

Invader Attacks Sleeping Elderly (White) Woman In West Chicago CHICAGO
(CBS) — An elderly woman was attacked during a home invasion Monday
morning in unincorporated West Chicago. A man thought to be in his
30s or 40s attacked the woman around 5 a.m. at her home near Ethel
Street and Hickory Lane. “Suddenly there was a face over my face,
and I got pulled out of bed and that’s how I got banged up,” Kathy
Fermo said. “He just said, ‘if you call the cops,
I’ll kill you.'” Every part of her home was ransacked, turned upside
down and left in disarray. A neighbor rushed over, finding Fermo
bruised and battered.“I have lots of bruise marks on both arms and on one side of my face,” she said. “My stomach is jumping. I haven’t been in this house since this happened, and I’m not real fond of the idea.” Along with jewelry, the suspect allegedly got away with cash and credit cards. Palmetto Bay Home - Stole his gunThe
Miami-Dade Police Department said it has arrested a suspect in
connection with the robbery and shooting of an off-duty Doral Police
officer. The MDPD identified the suspect as 22-year-old Florida City resident Kionne Bell, who is charged with attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated battery on a person aged 65 or older and armed burglary. The officer was shot Tuesday night during an armed robbery. "Investigators say that the couple [was] followed home by the subjects and robbed. The subjects and the victims were involved in a struggle, at which point a firearm was discharged, resulting in Mr. King being shot in the arm," MDPD said in a statement. The officer injured is 70-year-old Lt. Gary King, who was in stable condition after being taken to the Jackson South Medical Center. He first became an officer in 1969 and has worked in several departments since. King may have been followed home and was approached by two men in his driveway. The suspects stole King's gun along with some jewelry and other items before fleeing in a red four-door Toyota. Police detained three individuals, including Bell, to determine their involvement. Another suspect is at large, police said. "We have two individuals that are armed with the officer's gun and these individuals are brazen enough obviously to commit the robbery, the act that they did, so we consider them armed and dangerous," Zabaleta said. - (Black-on-white) |

robbery already in jail - the unarmed (White) female manager

- Police named the second man they believe was involved in the
deadly northwest Atlanta wine bar robbery. Officer said he had
turned himself last month in on another, chillingly similar crime in
DeKalb County. Carlous Bailey, 20, of Lithonia, was charged
with murder and armed robbery. Police said he was already booked
into the DeKalb County Jail on unrelated charges and remained there
as of Friday afternoon without bond. His charges come less than a month after the arrest of Samuel Ott, 21, who was charged with felony murder, assault, kidnapping, and false imprisonment in connection to the same crime, according to police. Police have been on the hunt for the men since investigators said
they stormed into the Barcelona Wine Bar during the early morning
of Nov. 19, as employees were closing for the night. Surveillance
video showed the men running into the patio area entrance, pulling
a man who dived to the ground as they approached inside with them.
The men, dressed in black hoodies, were seen on the video
near the dishwashing station binding the hands of employees with
electrical tape. Investigators then said the men force the
manager, 29-year-old Chelsea Beller, into the
upstairs office, where they forced her to open the safe before they
mercilessly shot her. Beller was rushed to Grady
Memorial Hospital, but later died. |

N.C. - A judge ruled Monday that a 15-year-old accused of shooting
and killing a college baseball player will be tried as an adult.
Jah'zion Wilson is charged with murder in connection with Zack
Finch’s death. Channel 9 was the only TV station in
the courtroom as a judge heard evidence in the case. Two of Wilson's
friends testified that he told them he had killed Finch in a west
Charlotte park. The judge also reviewed things Wilson had
posted on social media before he was arrested. The judge said those
details were enough to convince him that Wilson should stand trial
as an adult. The judge also ordered Wilson to be held with no bond.
Every 10 days for six months, Tara Finch, Zack's mother, and her
family have been going to hearings for the 15-year-old boy. "It's
awful. It's hell. I relive it every day," Finch said.

rapper fatally shot outside Bronx housing development (MORRIS
HEIGHTS, The Bronx (WABC) -- The NYPD is searching for a gunman who
killed an aspiring rapper in the Bronx Tuesday night. The shooting
happened just after 7 p.m. on West 174th Street near Popham Avenue
in Morris Heights, just steps away from the Bronx housing
development featured in his music video. Police say 34-year-old Melvin
Matties, whose rap name was Phanelli DeBlasio, was shot in the
neck and died at St. Barnabas Hospital. The shooting happened in the
courtyard of the Sedgwick Houses, where the victim's "Half a Mil"
video was shot. |

Norfolk (NORFOLK,
Va. – Police have charged a man for sexually assaulting a woman,
according to Norfolk Police. On January 13, a 42-year-old woman told
police that a man she knew assaulted her in her home in the
9600 block of 9th Bay Street. Ivan Chappell was arrested on
January 15 and charged with rape. Police did not say how Chappell
knew the victim. Chappell is an employee of Hampton Roads Regional
Jail and was placed on administrative leave, a spokesperson for the
jail said. |

Ledger and on social media showing two women shoplifting in a

identifying the two women, as well as a man who accompanied them

killings of two Northern California sheriff's deputies on Tuesday
with a profanity-laced rant, calling a partner of one of the slain
officers a “coward.”Prosecutor Rod Norgaard recounted the events that led to the death of Sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver outside a Sacramento motel in October 2014, and described how Oliver's partner, Deputy Scott Brown, was able to retreat from the heavy gunfire. Luis Enrique Monroy Bracamontes, 37, the alleged killer, interrupted the court when he grinned and called Brown a "coward." Bracamontes was scolded by the Sacramento Superior Court judge, The Sacramento Bee reported. "I wish I had killed more of the mother-------s," Bracamontes told the court. He continued: "I will break out soon and I will kill more, kill whoever gets in front of me...There's no need for a f---ing trial." Bracamontes defense attorneys cited the outburst as more evidence that their client is unfit to stand trial. His wife, 41-year-old Janelle Monroy, also is charged in the slayings. She argues that she was a victim of AN abusive husband who frequently used drugs. Bracamontes is from Mexico, and repeatedly entered the United States illegally. His wife is an American citizen and faces life in prison if found guilty. |

say
A Florida man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly took
explicit photos of a woman and sent them to her boss as an act of
revenge for no longer wanting to date him. Giuseppe
Garibaldi, 30, met the woman through a dating app in
November and the two casually dated. Garibaldi and the woman
reportedly had sex an estimated five times. During one of their
sexual trysts, authorities alleged in an affidavit, Garibaldi took
photos of the woman and after their second sexual encounter, he
threatened to show other people the pictures due to his suspicions
of her sleeping with other men. |

— Blaze Bernstein, a 19-year-old Jewish student at the
University of Pennsylvania who went missing from his parents’
Southern California home, has been found dead. Bernstein’s body was
found Tuesday in brush surrounding Borrego Park in Lake Forest, his
hometown, CBS News reported. His death is being investigated as a
homicide and an autopsy was being performed on Wednesday. Bernstein
had left his parents’ Orange County home a week ago to visit a
friend at the park. An attorney and friend of the family told CBS

Candles and flowers have been carefully placed alongside a photo of the victim with the words, "In loving memory of Valaree Schwab." Schwab was stabbed twice with a steak knife during a dispute involving five or six New Rochelle High School students. Police say the melee lasted 10 minutes and spanned several blocks of North Avenue. The teen was a self-described anarchist who friends say was picked on because of her appearance, and her outspokenness. Police have charged 16-year old Z'inah Brown with second-degree murder. Pa. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison in
a Pennsylvania crash earlier this year that killed two people,
including a pregnant woman. Twenty-two-year-old Evaughn-Sha
Walters of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty in October to
vehicular homicide in the Feb. 4 crash in West Pottsgrove Township.
Twenty-two-year-old Shone Santiago of New York City pleaded
guilty to two counts of third-degree murder and one count of
third-degree murder of an unborn child. Montgomery County
prosecutors said he was racing Walters on Route 422 when his car
went out of control, killing 23-year-old Anthony
Rodriguez of East Elmhurst, New York, and 20-year-old Marissa
Kelly of Stroudsburg. In court Tuesday, Walters
apologized to family members in attendance for what he called his
“stupid” decision. Santiago is awaiting sentencing.

stalking and sexually assaulting a woman who gets around with a
walker is a level 3 sex offender. Unga Smith, 40, was
identified by neighbors from the surveillance video released by
police Tuesday night. Smith is charged with rape, robbery, burglary,
criminal sex act, and sexual abuse. He is set to be arraigned on
those charges Thursday. The 64-year-old victim was followed for some
time, with the suspect eventually entering her building and riding
the elevator with her. Police say he pushed his way into her
apartment and dragged her to the bedroom, where she was sexually

Rogers man arrested in connection with Bentonville robbery
 BENTONVILLE
-- Police arrested a Rogers man in connection with a Saturday early
morning robbery and possibly several others in Northwest Arkansas. Christopher
Curry, 48, of 311 N. 35th St. was booked into the Benton
County Jail about noon Saturday.Police were called at 4:28 a.m. to a robbery at Casey's General Store at 2801 S.E. J St., according to a Bentonville Police news release. The robber fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Bentonville police connected a silver Chrysler 300 to the crime and stopped the car on Southeast Walton Boulevard. Curry was driving and the only person in the vehicle. He was arrested in connection with three counts of aggravated robbery, according to the release. |

Tenn. -- Police say a man went on a shooting spree in North
Nashville, killing two young sisters and then carjacked and killed
an elderly man. The suspected gunman's stepmother, girls' mother,
suffered non-lifethreatening wound, police said.Metro Police arrested 24-year-old Queshan Brooks on Friday. Brooks has been charged with three counts of murder along with multiple other charges, CBS Nashville affiliate WTVF reports. The Tennessean reports Brooks first opened fire on his stepmother and her two daughters around 4:15 p.m. at their home. The girls, 5-year-old Samaii Daniel and 8-year-old Sammarre Daniel, died from gunshot wounds to the head. WTVF reports that just minutes after the shooting, the suspect allegedly carjacked two men in a gold Chevrolet Impala. During the carjacking, the suspect allegedly shot the driver and the passenger. The driver, identified as 70-year-old Robert Payne, died and the passenger, identified as 52-year-old Patrick Hancock, was pistol whipped and shot in the arm. He was last listed in critical condition. |

Roane would set up meetings for the girl around Fayetteville, Fort Smith, and Jonesboro. The affidavit also states that Roane kidnapped the girl and would be in control of the girl's phone and money. YORK (FOX5NY) - Police in New York say a man armed with a gun tried
to steal the coat right off of a teen walking down the street.
Police say it happened about 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday morning in
Brooklyn. The 16-year-old boy was walking down 61st St. when the man
came up behind him, pulled a gun and demanded his coat. The
victim refused and a struggle ensued. Police say the man hit the
teen with the gun numerous times. The victim suffered lacerations to
his face and head as a result of the attack. The guy didn't get the
coat and ended up running away empty handed. Police describe the
suspect as black, 5'10"; last seen wearing a beige jacket, a

New Jersey man whose car plunged into the icy Delaware River
Sunday is accused of leaving his girlfriend to die after he
escaped from the submerged vehicle and fled the scene,
authorities said. Police say Jacob Garrett, 24, of
Burlington City, was driving "at a high rate of speed" with
Stephanie White, 23, also of Burlington City, in the passenger
seat shortly before 1 p.m. along Riverbank Road when his car
struck a parked minivan. The impact caused the car to vault over
the river wall and fall into the ice-covered water below.
