CITY, Mo. -- A Kansas City man is facing five felony charges after
witnesses saw him beat-up and stab his pregnant
girlfriend. Those witnesses sprang into action to
hold down 27-year-old Jonathan Holland until police came.
“As I rounded the corner at 14th and Baltimore, I could hear screams
from a distance,” said one witness, Marc Saighman. “I was rounding
the corner on 12th and just heard this hysterical screaming,” added
another witness, Tom Fehr. Witnesses said in broad daylight they saw
Holland assaulting his girlfriend who was 5 weeks pregnant. “I could
see one block down a man kicking and punching a woman repeatedly and
her screaming,” Saighman said. “By the time I finished calling the
police, saying 'please come quickly,' I saw he had a knife in his
hand,” Fehr added. Police say Holland stabbed the woman in her leg
so severely it cut to the bone.
“It was the most monstrous thing I’ve ever seen in person,” Fehr

campus Thursday. The man, described as a black male

campus restroom Thursday evening. The student said the man was
unknown to her. A security camera near where the alleged assault

court with illegally selling firearms to felons. James Samuels,
52, was charged Monday with illegally selling an AR-15 .223 caliber
rifle and at least 80 rounds of ammunition to someone later
identified as a confidential informant for the ATF. At the time of
the sale the informant posed as a convicted felon and told
Samuels that he was planning to shoot four people. Samuels
still sold the rifle to him, court documents said. |

September 28 around 1:30 a.m. on Frederick and Parsons avenues in
Freeport, across from Bishop Frank O. White Memorial Park. Reyes had
been living in the United States illegally and worked for a
landscaping company on Long Island. He first entered the country
illegally from El Salvador in 2010 before he was deported, then
Reyes crossed the border again in 2014. Authorities said the victim, a mother of two, was attacked from behind as she approached her house and knocked unconscious. last month in Syracuse, according to court records.Derrick Carroll, 33, was charged with first-degree rape, a felony, according to a felony complaint filed Monday by Syracuse police in city court. The rape occurred at about 9 p.m. Sunday in an apartment on West Genesee Street, police said in the complaint. Carroll was arrested by Syracuse police in the early morning hours of Oct. 1, the complaint showed. The victim did not want to have sex with Carroll and told him that several times, police said in the complaint. Carroll "engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim by way of forcible compulsion," police said. The victim tried to escape Carroll by running to the bathroom, but Carroll continued to force himself on the victim, the victim told police. |

man who was caught on camera breaking into a business. Police
believe the man first visited the business earlier in the day before

to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Greenwood police were
dispatched around 3:30 a.m. to a shoplifting case involving some
baby formula. A sheriff’s deputy heard the description of the thief
and his car, a black Dodge Charger, over the radio and waited for
the car in a parking lot. After about three minutes, the deputy
spotted the car and tried to stop it. The driver continued
northbound on State Road 135 before pulling over. The deputy said
the driver, later identified as 25-year-old Joseph Crawford,
refused to come out of his vehicle. The deputy noticed several

construction company's property. The sheriff's office first began

Two thieves were caught on camera after stealing from a Detroit EMT
while she had been trying to save
an elderly woman's life. "You inconvenienced me for
two packs of cigarettes?" said Kinnard. "She was obviously having trouble so we had to get her going quickly, we could not have been inside more than 6, 7 or maybe 8 minutes," she said. "The male met up with a black female, we don't know if they came together," said Capt. Darrell Patterson, Detroit police. "Or if they met up at a gas station. But the EMT's credit card was transferred to the female." The woman's purchase was two packs of cigarettes and a snack. Kinnard was forced to change the locks in her home and cancel her credit cards. $35,000 ring was stolen from guests at the Cavalier Hotel.

after a man who drives for multiple ride-hailing apps was arrested
on suspicion of raping a passenger, police said Thursday.Octavio Alvarez Gomez, 37, allegedly picked the victim up from a pub in Van Nuys after she ordered a ride through Lyft around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release. A Puerto Rican woman who falsified documents to show she was Jewish
and explored moving to Israel in order to avoid extradition from
Italy to the United States was found guilty of murder by a U.S.
court.Aurea Vazquez Rijos was convicted Wednesday of offering millions of dollars to a hitman who killed her husband, Adam Anhang, less than a day after he said he wanted a divorce. She subsequently sued Anhang’s parents in order to receive the $8 million she was owed under the couple’s prenuptial agreement and fled to Italy, where prosecutors alleged that she fabricated documents to prove she was Jewish and began making legal inquiries regarding whether or not Israel had an extradition agreement with the United States. Vazquez’s sister and ex-boyfriend, as well as the hitman, also were convicted. “These people thought they could get away with murder,” Anhang’s father, Abraham, told The Associated Press. “It’s been a long haul. They’ve been evading arrest, evading the law, evading taking responsibility and pretending they had nothing to do with it.” |

AZ - Avondale police have arrested a man after a four-vehicle crash
on Thursday left one girl dead and
three others injured. "I can't believe when
[police] came to my door and told me it was her," said Shannon
Meadows, 17-year-old Amanda Moreno's
mother. Moreno was a senior at Agua Fria High School and just
left home to spend time with a friend when the crash occurred near
Dysart and Osborn roads. Meadows and her daughter Whitney Moreno talked with ABC15 at a makeshift memorial near the crash site. "We come here a few times a day, light the candles for her, talk to her," Meadows said. On Friday, Avondale police arrested 54-year-old Tollie Matthews in connection with the crash. Edward Jr. was released from prison Thursday.Edwards was charged with accessory to murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison with 10 suspended for the murder of 22-year-old Christopher Lane, an ECU baseball player and Australian native. Lane was jogging in Duncan when three teens, including Edwards, randomly shot and killed him because they were “bored.” Edwards, who was 15 at the time of the murder, originally faced a first-degree murder charge. But that was amended after he agreed to testify against the other suspects, Michael Jones, Odesse John David Barnes and Chancey Luna. According to the Duncan Banner, it was recommended Edwards serve 40 years in prison, with 20 in and 20 out of jail, but the defense asked for much less, resulting in the 25 year sentence, of which 10 years was suspended. Edwards was released from prison wearing an ankle monitoring bracelet. He will spend the next several months wearing it until he reaches eligibility for probation. - (Black-on-white) |

changed.At 11:15 p.m. Thursday, a gunman crawled up their balcony and barged into their second-floor room at the Hotel Riu Reggae. He raped them both, authorities say. The nightmare lasted for about 15 minutes until one of the women got hold of the gun and shot the attacker twice before he jumped off the balcony and fled. “At night, it really haunts me. All I see is his eyes,” the victim who shot the suspect said in an exclusive interview with the Free Press on Monday. “I just want to know why.” According to Montego Bay police, the suspect is a 24-year-old hotel employee named Scott Dowe who had worked at Hotel Riu Reggae just three days before the attack occurred. convicted of sexual assault charges stemming from an incident in
September of last year.According to the original complaint, the victim said she was assaulted by mealy-mouthed Meally [Feeman] aka "Freeman", 56, at Grace Mountaineer Tabernacle Church after he suggested she needed a one-on-one “deliverance” session to exorcise a demon from her body. During the session, Freeman gave the victim small cups of oil to drink. She said she entered a trance-like state, and awoke to find Freeman had rubbed oil on her stomach and her abdomen near her breasts. She told police her underwear were also wet. Freeman then told the victim she needed a second one-on-one session later that evening after bible study. The victim again “fell out” or became unconscious. When she woke up, she found her pants and underwear were ripped and were around her ankles. Her shirt and bra were also pulled up over her chest. Freeman was convicted Monday of two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He remains in custody and prosecutors will seek a sentence of 58 months in prison. |

dead after officers found him in the sunroom of a home in the 1000
block of Tarleton Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m. on April 13.
Burlington police said the homicide happened as a result of an
armed robbery and that Brent and Murray knew each other.
Brent was taken into custody on Tuesday at a home on Jones Street.

Judge Heidi Cesare also found Lewis guilty of a traffic violation, as victim Dan Hanegby’s widow fought back tears in the Manhattan Criminal Court gallery. During the non-jury trial, prosecutors argued that Lewis spotted Hanegby, wearing over-the-ear headphones and no helmet, and honked at him. Although Hanegby, 36, didn’t respond to the loud horn, the driver continued to barrel east down West 26th Street and tried to overtake the cyclist, who became sandwiched between the bus and a parked van. The 50,000-pound bus struck Hanegby and its rear wheel rolled over his torso. Video surveillance captured the gruesome collision and its aftermath. Va. (ABC7) — Taylor Boykin, the Minnieland Academy assistant
teacher accused of molesting children, has pled guilty and was
indicted on 21 counts by a grand jury.Boykin pled guilty to 14 cases and will have a sentencing hearing on March 21, 2019, according to ABC7's Tim Barber. Boykin allegedly inappropriately touched four children between March 2017 and March 2018. Barber reported a commonwealth attorney said Boykin faces three charges for each child, which includes indecent liberties, object penetration, and sexual battery. On April 23, Boykin was arrested for inappropriately touching a 5-year-old girl, according to police. Investigators said the girl told a parent who notified the school, and three additional 5-year-old children were also identified. Authorities said they believe there may be more victims because Boykin worked for Minnieland for seven years. |
