CHARLES — A 29-year-old BLACK man is charged with several counts of
driving while intoxicated for causing a collision four months ago
that killed four people.Authorities have identified the man who they say was at fault for the Feb. 14 crash as Elijah Carlton Henderson, of the St. Charles area. Henderson is charged with four counts of driving while intoxicated, causing death. Each offense is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The probable cause statement, dated Friday, said blood tests revealed THC in his system. THC is the psychoactive component of marijuana. The collision happened on Highway 40 (Interstate 64), west of Highway 364, when Henderson’s eastbound pickup crossed the median cable barrier and veered into the westbound lanes, hitting a minivan carrying four people, authorities have said. All four of those people were killed: Carrie McCaw, 44, and her daughter Kacey McCaw, 12, and Lesley Prather, 40, and her daughter Rhyan Prather, 12, all of Louisville, Kentucky. They were heading to a weekend volleyball tournament in Kansas City. Lesley Prather was a Louisville firefighter. Darrel Halford of Colfax has been captured in Winnfield,
according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.Shortly after 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Winnfield Police, assisted by the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office, captured A L Simmons II, 20, of Campti, while hiding on the roof of an apartment in Winnfield, La. On Friday afternoon June 12 at approximately 12:09 p.m., Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a white 2006 Dodge pickup truck in the ditch in the 200 block of Greenville Drive in Clarence occupied by a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies discovered Allen Darrel Halford, 60, of Colfax, deceased inside the vehicle. Halford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office. On Monday, Dallas Police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Antony Isaiah Taylor and 19-year-old Deng Chen Ajack. Both have been charged with capital murder. Jenna Lynn Vanhorn, who was found dead at the Rodeway
Inn in St. Joseph County last Sunday.The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Jamie Nathaniel Garner, 45, with murder and a firearm sentencing enhancement. The United States Marshals Task Force in Detroit arrested Garner early Wednesday afternoon in Detroit. Probable cause has been found, leading to the issuing of the arrest warrant. Garner was ordered held without bond. Officials say he was at the home of a relative. He is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail. 16 News Now spoke to Vanhorn's mom, Leanna Vanhorn. man in connection with assaulting a missing teen in Myrtle Beach.
According to warrants obtained by News13, police found Harvey
Green and the minor in his room at
the Blake Motel on Ocean Blvd. on Monday.Warrants suggest Green sexually assaulted the teen while she was “mentally incapacitated”. When questioned about what he and the teen were doing, Green allegedly told police they were “just drinking and smoking weed”. Officers observed multiple bottles of beer and a loaded pipe with marijuana inside, according to warrants. Police say they also found a small bag with a ‘white rock-like substance’ under the couch. The substance field tested positive for cocaine, according to warrants. communications in interstate commerce.The incident allegedly happened on June 6, 2020, when investigators say Fratus sent two emails to Outlaw. Officials say the messages contained racist, offensive, and threatening language, with one asking where Commissioner Outlaw lives. “As alleged in the criminal complaint, Peter Fratus’ racist threats towards Commissioner Outlaw were vile and disturbing,” McSwain said. “We take such threats very seriously, and let this be a warning to anyone who might feel the urge to fire off an online threat directed at a public official: we will trace your digital footprint, track you down and hold you accountable.” If convicted, Fratus faces a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. |

Fort Worth officer was hospitalized after he was struck by a vehicle
during a pursuit Saturday morning, police say. Officers tried to
initiate a traffic stop about 11:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of North
Freeway on a stolen vehicle, but the driver did not stop. Police
began chasing the driver and an officer who was attempting to deploy
stop sticks was struck by the suspect's vehicle, police said. The officer was taken to a local hospital and underwent extensive surgery. He was out of surgery around midnight and was in the ICU in stable condition, police said. Police said he underwent further surgery Sunday. Visitation at the hospital was limited due to COVID-19, said Fort Worth Police Association President Manny Ramirez. The officer's identity has not been released. Police arrested 38-year-old Ronnie Jackson Jr. later Saturday. He faces charges of criminal attempted capital murder and evading arrest detention with a vehicle. |

Shots were justified! What happened if this criminal took the real gun instead of taser? He wouldn't doubt for a second and would shot our officers as well! Texas -- The Arlington Police Department has
arrested a suspect in a sexual assault case that occurred in
September of 2019 in a city park. The department released a
composite sketch and details about the suspect last year in hopes of
bringing justice to the victim, police said. According to police,
the aggravated sexual assault that occurred at the Crystal Canyon
Park located in the 1000 block of Brown Boulevard on September 21,
2019.Police said investigators were looking for a light-skinned Black male with a red iPhone who was 5'5", weighed approximately 130 to 150 pounds, and was approximately 25 years old. On Wednesday, May 27, the Arlington Police Department was contacted by the Tyler Police Department with information related to the offense. Investigators uncovered video of a sexual assault that occurred during a narcotics investigation, police said. Investigators determined the footage depicted the crime after the suspect recorded the attack with his red iPhone, police said. According to police, investigators determined that the red iPhone belonged to Jessie Dewayne Ray who was in custody at the Smith County Jail on weapons and narcotics charges. After determining that Ray was the suspect in the video, Arlington Sex Crimes detectives obtained a probable cause arrest warrant and charged Ray with one count of aggravated sexual assault, police said. |

The 29-year-old Metro officer was shot in the head during a protest in front of Circus Circus Hotel & Casino on the evening of Monday, June 1. “Shay is awake and seems to recognize his family members,” the family added. They went on to thank the medical staff at UMC Trauma who have been treating Shay since he was injured earlier this month. Shay’s family says he’s “tentatively been accepted to one of the best spine rehabilitation centers in the country,” where he will soon continue treatment. The family did not release the name of the center, but will “when the time is right.” The Injured Police Officer’s Fund (IPOF) held a donation drive for Shay on Thursday and recognized the day as “Shay Day.” Thousands of community members showed up and gave their support by giving money or buying a t-shirt to help with Mikalonis’ medical expenses. Edgar Samaniego, the man accused of shooting Officer Shay Mikalonis, is facing charges of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon and two counts of discharging a gun in a prohibited area. According to Samaniego’s arrest report, he was not part of the protest. He happened to be staying the nearby Travelodge and fired into the crowd, hitting Mikalonis. Mitchell is 28 years old. Harrison Smith is 32, a Selma native who often works overseas. “At this time, we don’t know the motive,” said Selma Police Sgt. Ray Blanks. After Smith was shot, a wonderful thing happened, according to investigators. A couple of witnesses saw it all. They stopped and applied a tourniquet to Smith’s leg and rushed him to the hospital. Smith was eventually airlifted to UAB in Birmingham where he’s already had one surgery with another planned soon. “You know how our community is right now. Not just us but the nation.. the black and white thing and law enforcement and stuff. These were two black gentlemen who stopped and helped the white gentleman so that was encouraging,” said sheriff Granthum. The witnesses gave authorities a good description of the brown van Mitchell was driving, including the license plate. It turned out that one hour before Mitchell allegedly shot Smith, the suspect reportedly harassed a driver on the same road. “He began to back up at the high rate of speed, got away from him and called authorities,” said Blanks. charges Saturday after forcing himself onto a woman he met through
the online dating app Tinder and tried to rape her, according to the
Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to a home in the
area of 3900 N Santa Fe Ave., near Palm and Dakota avenues,
regarding a kidnapping and attempted rape that had just occured,

assisted with the call.The suspect, identified as Fabian Ornelas, 30, of Fresno, used the Tinder app to entice a woman into meeting up with him. The victim then tried to leave after spending some time together, but Ornelas forced himself on her and tried to rape her. Wash – A Spokane man with a violent criminal history was
arrested for murder in late May, just weeks after he had attempted
murder charges dropped in another case.Jordan Knippling was booked into the Spokane County Jail June 1st on second-degree murder charges. On May 1st, prosecutors dismissed charges stemming from a stabbing last May in which Knippling was accused of stabbing a man he says wasn’t paying his share of the rent. According to court documents, deputies saw Knippling at I-90 and Sullivan on the night of May 31st. He was yelling, cursing and waving a large piece of a tree limb at another man. According to court documents, Knippling identified himself to deputies and said he was mad at the other man for leaving drug needles around the homeless camp. When deputies arrived, they found Clifford Breeden with six stab wounds to the back. This was not the man Knippling had been arguing with on the earlier call. BLOOD ON HIS HANDS Deputies brought in a canine to search the area and, while they were setting up a perimeter, they saw Knippling coming out of the trees. of South Florida St. Petersburg, FloridaA 19-year-old St. Petersburg man has been arrested for the murder of USF St. Petersburg student Owen Melin, police announced today. Melin, 22, was shot and killed during a home invasion while visiting friends at an apartment at 458 Fourth Ave. S, six blocks from campus, on May 27. Joshua S. Pilley Jr. was arrested June 9 on one count of felony murder and is being held without bail at the Pinellas County Jail. Two other men involved in the home invasion are still being sought by police. Melin, a psychology major, transferred to the university last fall from St. Petersburg College. Family and friends described him as a kind, passionate person who loved to work out and tinker with old cars. His father, Charles Melin, praised the work of St. Petersburg police. “We are very, very impressed with the St. Pete Police Department,” he said. “The detectives have done an absolutely outstanding job. “They are not backing down an inch until everyone involved is brought in,” Melin said. The Melin family is offering a reward for information leading to further arrests until Sept. 10. According to a police affidavit dated May 29, Owen Melin had gone to the apartment to visit friends. He was inside with one friend while three others were outside on the front porch. A shirtless, heavyset man approached the men on the porch and asked about the friend who was inside with Melin, police said. The man left, but returned 10 minutes later with two other men and what police called “a modified rifle.” The shirtless man ordered the three friends on the porch “to get on the ground” and forced one of them to unlock the apartment. One or two minutes later, police said, the friends on the porch heard gunshots and the intruders fled. Detectives found five 9mm shell casings in the kitchen near the body of Melin, who was pronounced dead by members of St. Petersburg Fire/Rescue. He was shot once in his left chest. A fingerprint was recovered from a car outside the apartment by detectives, identifying Pilley Jr. as a suspect. He was also identified by a witness. Police urge anyone with information regarding the home invasion to call its non-emergency line at 727-893-7780. Pilley Jr., a St. Petersburg resident who played football at Gibbs High School in 2019, has had previous brushes with the law. On Feb. 28, court records show, he was involved in a collision at Interstate 275 and 38th Avenue N that led to citations for careless driving and driving with a suspended, revoked license. He was scheduled to appear in court on those charges on June 15. In October 2019, Pilley Jr. was a passenger in a car that fled when police tried to make a traffic stop. When the car eventually came to a stop, Pilley Jr. and the driver ran from police and were found hiding in a shed behind a residence. North Carolina -- Two people have been charged with
first-degree murder in the shooting of a 30-year-old Gastonia man at
a Gastonia convenience store just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.Marshawn Devon Sanders, 27, of the 700 block of Branton Street in Shelby, and Ashley Michelle Abernathy, 34, of the 900 block of Old Lincolnton-Crouse Road in Crouse, were each charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, said a report released by the Gastonia Police Department at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday. Sanders faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. The two are charged with the murder of Eric DeSean Glenn, who was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he died, police said. Both Sanders and Abernathy are also charged with the attempted murder of a Gastonia woman, who police said they shot at with a semi-automatic pistol. Both Sanders and Abernathy were booked into the Gaston County a little after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday where they were being held with no bond as they await their first court appearance in Gaston District Court on Wednesday. |

car — and her father was arrested in connection with the tragedy,
according to a report. Lyrik Aliyana Brown’s body was

Ohio — Firefighters found a child dead inside a Dayton, Ohio,
apartment, and police arrested that child’s mother after receiving a
call of a “bad smell” coming from an apartment Tuesday
afternoon, according to public records. Officers responded to an
apartment complex on James H. McGee Boulevard around 2 p.m. after
receiving a call from a neighbor who had concerns about a “bad
smell” coming from one of the residences.“I think there’s someone over there that’s deceased,” the caller told dispatchers. Dayton police said once they arrived at the apartment, they also requested the Dayton Fire Department to help. “Out of a concern for the safety and well-being of anyone inside, the Dayton Fire Department was requested to the scene and assisted with entering the apartment,” Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said. “Firefighters located the remains of a small child who had clearly been deceased for some time. A callout was then made for detectives from both the Dayton Police Department Special Victims Unit and the Homicide Unit.” The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office was unable to release the age and name of the child; however a Dayton police report shows a child approximately 1 year old was involved. An autopsy will determine how long the child had been dead and how they died. Tuesday in a series of rape cases from the 1990s.Authorities connected Leroy Jemol Smith to multiple rape cases in the area from Jan. 1993 to Oct. 1995. Smith is facing five counts of first-degree rape from the following dates: Jan. 20, 1993, Feb. 3, 1993, July 16, 1993, Oct. 10, 1994, Oct. 3, 1995 Multiple tests pointed to Smith as the person responsible, court documents say.
