MN (WCCO) — A 41-year-old Brooklyn Center man is charged with attempted murder after police say he shot a woman after she refused to have sex with him for money. Investigators say Mantu Craven offered a ride to a woman waiting at a Minneapolis bus stop in the early morning of Sept. 12. She agreed and got in the car.  The
woman told police they drove to an ATM, he withdrew money, and then said they were going to drive to his friend’s house in Coon Rapids. Instead, the woman said Craven drove to a park near Cenaiko Lake and the Coon
Rapids Dam. She says he asked her to have sex with him for $40. She says he got out of the car and walked to her side, and she then locked her door, begging him to take her home. She says Craven then pulled her out of the car at gunpoint, shoved her to the ground, then fired several shots at her, two of which struck her in the abdomen. He then fled when she pulled out her phone and pretended to call for help. The victim, who was naked from the waist down, then ran through a wooded area, eventually making her way onto Highway 610 near East River Road in Coon Rapids, where she was soon spotted by Minnesota State Patrol troopers. She was rushed to an area hospital for surgery, although doctors were unable to remove one of the bullets in her abdomen. The other bullet had entered her abdomen, then traveled through her right leg. | ||

(WIS) - One day after police announced the arrest of a suspect in the deadly shooting that happened near the University of South Carolina campus, the second suspect has turned himself in to police.Zachery Williams, 20, turned himself in to the Columbia Police Department on Thursday morning with the assistance of his attorney, officials said. UofSC confirmed Williams is a student who lives off campus. His (black) co-defendant, 20-year-old Xavier Glover, was arrested Wednesday. Both men are charged with murder and armed robbery in the death of 26-year-old Wesley Brown, of Greenville. Investigators believe Williams and Glover saw Brown walking alone in the 1700 block of Senate Street early Sunday morning. Moments later, police say Williams approached Brown, stole his personal belongings and shot him before both suspects drove away from the scene. Because police believe Williams was the shooter, he also faces a charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. A couple out for a walk around 8 a.m. Sunday found Brown lying on the ground and called 911. When officers and medical personnel arrived, they pronounced him dead. A cold case in Georgia has been solved. The remains of a woman found in Dade County almost 40 years ago have finally been identified. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says her name was Patricia
Parker, and GBI investigators believe she was the victim of serial killer Samuel Little.In 2018, Little told the Texas Rangers that he murdered a young Black woman in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the early 1980s, the GBI said in a press release. Investigators from Georgia and Tennessee, according to the GBI statement, met with Little and gathered "more details that led them to believe the remains found in Dade County were the woman Little had taken in Chattanooga and killed in Georgia." Last year, the GBI unveiled a forensic reconstruction of the woman's skull and asked for the public's help in identifying her. A family came forward, the GBI added, and DNA samples obtained from them positively identified Parker, who was 30 years old at the time of her death. |

According to an affidavit and warrant of arrest, 21-year-old Jumishia Baker was arrested after telling investigators with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office that she had sex twice with a 17-year-old offender that was being housed at Swanson. On September 2, 2020, a Juvenile Justice Specialist 1 (JJS1) submitted an Unusual Occurrence Report (UOR) stating that they were told by Baker that Baker and the offender had sex two nights in a row. On the same day, a JJS2 submitted a UOR stating that they saw Baker and the offender going toward a storage room area. The JJS2 stated that they noticed that Baker and the offender were in the back room of the storage area for an extended period of time, but did not witness any incident. When Baker and the offender exited the room, the JJS2 asked the offender what happened but the offender replied, “I can’t tell you because I don’t know if you’ll snitch.” Later that morning, according to the JJS2, they saw Baker and the offender sitting at a table talking, and heard Baker whisper, “Next time I want you to say my name.” - (Jumishia, Jumishia, Ju-mish-i-a.....) The SSJ2 stated that on September 4, 2020, the offender handed them a hand-written note and was asked to give it to Baker. The note, which stated that the offender was in love with Baker, was turned over to supervisors instead. When Baker was interviewed by the investigator, Baker stated that she made a mistake and said that she knew that she should not have done it. According to the affidavit, Baker admitted that she and the offender had sex twice. She also stated that she was not promised anything or threatened by the offender. The affidavit states that Baker then wrote a letter to the regional director, apologizing for having sex with the offender twice. According to the affidavit, there is no video monitoring in the office area where the incidents happened, but video from a hallway leading to the office showed that Baker and the offender entered the office together several times on Aug. 27, 28, and Sep. 1, 2, for various amounts of time. Baker was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of felony malfeasance in office — sexual conduct prohibited with prisoner. Her bond was set at $5,000 and has since bonded out. | ||

JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two people have died after they were shot Tuesday night in the parking lot of a St. Augustine condo complex, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.The shooting was reported just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Florida Club Condominiums near Florida Club Boulevard, which is off State Road 16, deputies said. Both victims -- a young man and young woman -- were taken to local hospitals in critical condition and later died, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chuck Mulligan said. He declined to provide any details about the victims' ages, citing Marsy’s Law, but close friends identified the victims as 21-year-old Kyle Stein. They said his girlfriend, Sydney, also died. Less than an hour after the shooting, deputies said, the suspected shooter who ran from the scene was found in a retention pond about a mile away near Scheidel Way and North St. Johns Street. Deputies said multiple witnesses identified Anfernee Wilson, 19, as the shooter who ran from the parking lot. his advances.An officer from the Naples Police Department responded to a call at around 4 p.m. regarding a fight in the food court. Bruce Gordon, 37, (20 years older, 'dirty old man') told the officer that he had struck the victim, who police say is a juvenile, in self-defense after she had accosted him unprovoked. But a witness reported that Gordon had responded violently after the victim had refused Gordon’s flirtation with her in the Panda Express line. The witness said Gordon swore at her, left, then returned to punch her repeatedly in the face and then kick her and stomp on her as she lay unconscious on the ground, not stopping until a bystander hurled a chair at him. One witness says Gordon could have killed her, had the bystander not stopped the attack. “Directly in front of me was a 17-year-old looking girl with what appeared to be her grandmother,” the witness said. He says Bruce Gordon approached the girl on a mission. “I guess he wanted to start some sort of romantic relationship with her but he was very close and very intrusive,” recalls the witness. The victim said no and wanted Gordon to get away from her. “It seemed to just happen and fizzle away. The suspect then walked away,” said the witness. But the incident was far from over. Gordon came back, and the witness says, approached the victim at the table she was sitting at. “Delivered this blow to the person’s face and the victim immediately fell like a sack of potatoes. If I were hit in that manner I would have fallen in the same way,” he said. The witness describes her body as lifeless, lying there on the ground. “Then after that he was continually pummeling while she was on the floor completely unresponsive,” said the witness. “The kind of beating that he delivered to this girl just looked like to me he had every intention of killing her. Bystanders began throwing chairs at Gordon. The witness, himself, yelled at Gordon and began following him, taking pictures for evidence. He was waiting for the police to show up. The witness just hopes justice is served. “This person I don’t believe should be allowed to live amongst us. He needs to be locked up. And they need to throw away the key because this person is completely deranged,” he said. The victim was taken to Naples Community Hospital and treated for a severe concussion as well as many injuries to her head, jaw, face and lips. Police say the girl is still unconscious. Gordon was taken into custody, and the victim’s mother intends to seek prosecution on her daughter’s behalf. He faces a felony charge due to a prior battery conviction. - (Black-on-White) | ||

of Orthodox Jews took to the streets overnight to protest the state's restrictions on schools, synagogues and non-essential businesses, marching through Borough Park in large groups and setting a fire in protest. The
protests started at 50th Street and 15th avenue at around 9 p.m.Another popped up at 13th Avenue and 46th Street, where the crowd set a rubbish fire in the street just before 1:30 a.m. that was put out by firefighters. The group chased away two city sheriff's deputies while chanting "Jewish lives matter."  Video from the Citizen app overnight showed the fire, as well as a large group of Orthodox Jewish protesters, young men openly defying social distancing guidelines, shouting and marching, most without masks on. Billy Knox. Liberty County officials said a motorist found 29-year-old Markie McGinnis dead in her car from multiple gunshot wounds Sunday around 1:30 p.m. on FM 2830 in Raywood, Texas. She was less than a half mile from her parent's home. According to investigators, McGinnis was shot several times through her driver's side window. Earlier that morning she helped lead a worship service at her church, Relate Community Church, in Spring. Court documents allege Sharp used an aluminum baseball bat to fatally strike Sparrow in the head in a wooded area behind Maclary Elementary School on Friday afternoon or evening. Detectives searched the woods and found the bat, blood droplets and Sparrow’s clothing. In an interview with police, Sharp confessed to the killing and directed detectives to a wooded area near Interstate 95 and Del. 896, where they found Sparrow’s body, according to court documents. (CBS) — Montgomery County officials say a 10-month-old girl died after being raped by her 29-year-old father in Lower Providence Township. Austin Stevens, an assistant youth football coach for Lower Providence Warriors, has been charged with rape of a child, aggravated assault and other related charges in the death of Zara Scruggs. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says Zara was at her father’s house on Saturday evening where she was found unresponsive around 10:40 p.m., following a 911 call. She was transported to Einstein Medical Center in Montgomery County and pronounced dead shortly after midnight. Steele says the personnel who transported Zara to the hospital gave authorities a blood-saturated diaper that the child had been wearing. According to detectives, Stevens conducted several Google searches on his phone of “how do you know if a baby is dead,” “if baby stops breathing,” “what if you don’t hear baby heart or beat,” and “my baby isn’t breathing.” An autopsy revealed Zara was the victim of a sexual assault and also sustained blunt force trauma to her head. Steele says they are waiting for additional forensic results to determine the child’s cause of death as Stevens could face more charges. “This case is deeply disturbing. It is hard to imagine this child’s death being any more traumatic: sexual assault on an infant, followed by inaction by the father to save her life, led to her death,” Steele said during a Tuesday afternoon news conference. Steele added there was a custody arrangement between Stevens and the girl’s mother. |

— The teen who broke into two houses and raped two different women has been convicted of multiple felonies.William Jones, now 18, was 16-years-old when he broke into the two houses in December 2018. “The defendant entered a residence in the Salem Village neighborhood through a back door and raped a 24‐year‐old female victim at gunpoint,” prosecutors said. “Just two days later...he entered a different residence, in the same neighborhood, through a window and raped a 34‐year‐old female victim at gunpoint.” Trotwood police were able to use DNA evidence found at the crime scenes to identify Jones as the rapist. Jones will be sentenced at a later date on the charges, which included three counts of rape, four counts of kidnapping, four counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery. KY. Tiffany L. Kidwell, 32, of Walton, had pulled into the driveway of her home with her two children in the backseat when, according to investigators, John C. Gentry approached the vehicle. Gentry, 34, had been in a sexual relationship with Kidwell, according to investigators, but she left him and began staying with family on Winchester Drive. A domestic violence order was in effect against Gentry, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said. On Friday night, Gentry followed Kidwell home, engaged in a brief verbal exchange, and then shot her multiple times. Kidwell died at the scene. A 3-year old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where he in stable condition. A 6-year old boy was not injured. After the shooting, Gentry was located by deputies on Grand National Blvd. as he attempted to flee the subdivision. Deputies tried to stop Gentry's vehicle, but the suspect fled on foot. Soon after, deputies heard gunshots nearby and found another man wounded in the leg near the neighborhood clubhouse. That man and a woman were driving on Grand National Blvd. at Overland Ridge when, deputies said, Gentry pulled his gun and demanded their vehicle. Lawrence Ward, 30, was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center to be treated for his leg wound. Haley Lane, 24, was not injured. Deputies said that when interviewed, Gentry told detectives that he was out driving around after work and saw Tiffany Kidwell and followed her to confront her over seeing their children. court upholds conviction of priest in rape attempt Germany's top criminal court has upheld the attempted rape conviction of a former priest who posed as a woman online
in an elaborate scheme to try to set up the sexual assault of a former lover, The court said the priest, whose name was not given in line with privacy laws, posed as a woman in an “erotic dating portal” in 2016, looking for men to “rape role play." In online conversations with two men, he gave the address of a woman the court said was his former lover in order to get the men to “visit the victim at home and to perform violent sexual acts on her.” “The injured party, who knew nothing of all of this, was able to prevent the crime from being carried out in both cases after the men arrived,” the court wrote. Posing online as a woman using the pseudonym “Blonde Bunny” claiming the fantasy was her own, he gave the men specific instructions, including saying that they should not be deterred if she were to fight back |
