The crime has shaken many in the community, and the victim's brother says he thinks he knows why. Reggie Christensen says his brother Matthew Christensen was like many people who go to work every day. “It just makes me think how scared my brother was,” said Reggie said. Surveillance video shows what Matthew faced. The 24-year-old man was working at the Lee's Discount Liquor Monday night when he was gunned down. Emergency responders took Matthew to University Medical Center, where he later died. “It was just a real senseless act. It didn't have to happen. It was pointless,” Reggie said. At a press conference Metro Police Lt. Dan McGrath said the clerk complied with the robbers’ orders. “They commit an armed robbery in a very heinous act, shoot a victim who was not resistant,” McGrath said. Tuesday night, Reggie Christensen returned to the store where his brother was killed for a candlelight vigil. “I think there is a lot of emotion going around with this: shock, disbelief, a lot of anger and sadness,” he said. “You killed a person for nothing, for some measly dollars. You destroyed a family. You destroyed your families. You're going to get caught regardless, period,” he said.

Black man hides in trunk of (white) wife's car, stabs her to death and runs her over, before shooting their two kids and himself dead
Henry Ramone BrownChericia Brown2 kids murdered by their black fatherA Florida father-of-two stabbed and ran over his estranged wife, shot dead their children before turning the gun on himself in a horrific murder-suicide. Henry Ramone Brown, 30, had hidden in the trunk of his wife's car which was parked outside a Sanford Chili’s, in Lake Mary, armed with a knife. When Chericia Brown, 31, returned to her car at around 10pm on Sunday, her husband jumped out and stabbed her multiple times. Brown attempted to hide the seriously injured Chericia by dragging her into the bushes and ran round the building to retrieve his car. But two medical professionals, who had been dining at the restaurant, had discovered the victim and were attempting to help her when Brown returned. The suspect drove round the building and ran over his wife, and the two diners attempting to help her. All three were rushed to a local hospital where Chericia Brown was pronounced dead. One of medical professionals is still in hospital in a 'stable condition' while the other has since been released. Henry Brown fled the scene and police say he swapped vehicles before driving to pick up his two children, aged one and four, from a babysitter. The 30-year-old, who was armed with a gun, then drove to Central Florida Regional Hospital where his wife had been transported after his attack. He arrived at around 12.20am, in an attempt to find Chericia, but was swiftly recognized by police. Brown opened fire on officers, and hospital security staff, and managed to escape back to his Ford pick-up truck. But police gave chase and were able to track down Brown on Interstate 4, using 'stop sticks' to disable the vehicle. When deputies approached the truck, they found the suspect had shot dead his two young children inside the car, before turning the gun on himself. - (Black-on-white)

Jonathan Ray Shepherd will continue to serve a sentence of life in prison without parole for the Sept. 26, 2013, shooting death of Cheyenne Green. Shepherd was charged with killing Green during a junior high football game in Gilmer as she was picking up their then-1-year-old son. Shepherd shot Green three times in front of their child who was sitting in his car seat at the time of Green's death, according to information presented during the April 2015 trial. The decision, in a 29-page opinion rendered Friday by the appeals court, comes almost one year after Shepherd was found guilty by a jury in Upshur County and near Green's April 13 birthday. Green would have turned 32 this past Wednesday. A jury in the county's 115th District Court found Shepherd guilty of capital murder by kidnapping on April 21, 2015.
