Protester Dies After Getting
Hit By Car In Bakersfield,

- JUNE 6, 2020 BAKERSFIELD, California — A man who was hit by a car while protesting Wednesday night has died, Bakersfield Police confirms. His family confirms Robert Forbes, in his mid-50s, was marching between California Avenue and Oak Street on June 3. At around 10:23pm, Forbes was hit by a vehicle — an incident caught on video and shared widely on social media. According to his family, Forbes was brought to Kern Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition for three days. He succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning. His nephew, Robert Lewis, believes Forbes was hit intentionally by the driver. This has been largely disputed by witnesses and police. “Several community members have posted on social media regarding their beliefs and statements that the pedestrian in this incident was struck intentionally. The investigation is still open and officers are still seeking additional witnesses and video evidence,” the Bakersfield Police Department said in a statement released Thursday. |

others injured in a shooting at a
Greenville County nightclub,
according to Lt. Jimmy Bolt with the
Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
The victims have been identified as
Mykala
Bell, 23, of
Greenville and Clarence
Sterling Johnson, 51, of
Duncan. Both were taken to a
hospital and pronounced dead. Bolt
said just before 2 a.m. two deputies
were driving on White Horse Rd. and
saw a disturbance at Lavish Lounge.
He said the deputies called for
emergency back-up after hearing
gunshots from inside the building.
Multiple deputies, along with
Greenville City Police and Highway
Patrol, responded to the scene.
Lewis said the shooting could be gang

on Sunday afternoon two men entered

them began to damage the store.
Investigators say one of the men
then claimed to have a gun and

Police say that 24 year old Tyreek Mansell and 18 year old Joshua Rodriguez were later located and taken into custody. No weapon was found, according to police, however they were possessing a half an ounce of cocaine. Investigators say they also had over $5,000 in their possession. |

after being released from prison,
police said.Luis Torres, 21, was arrested while on parole late last month after the teen victim told investigators he raped her at a Syracuse home in February — just nine days after he was sprung from prison for stabbing a mall employee in 2017, Syracuse.com reports. Police said in court documents cited by the outlet that Torres, of Syracuse, then had sex with the girl on two other occasions between late February and early April. Torres, who was taken into custody on June 26, remained held without bail Friday at the Onondaga County Justice Center on charges of second-degree rape, endangering the welfare of a child and violating his parole, online records show. Torres had been on parole after being convicted of second-degree assault in a December 2017 attack at Destiny USA, a mall where police said he stabbed an employee at Syracuse’s Original Caramel Corn Shoppe after stealing a bag of chips. He was later sentenced to two years in prison, Syracuse.com reports. |

to life in prison for the murder of
a Hinsdale mother of two in her west
suburban home.Dominic Sanders was found guilty earlier this year in the murder of Andrea Urban, then 51, according to a statement from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office. Officers found Urban, a leukemia survivor, lying dead on the kitchen floor with knife wounds to her head and neck on May 4, 2017, at her home in the 700 block of Town Place, prosecutors said Investigators learned that Sanders entered the house earlier that day and started fighting with her, the state’s attorney’s office said. During the fight, he struck Urban repeatedly and slashed her throat before running away. Sanders, of University Park, was arrested later that month during an unrelated traffic stop. Sanders “brutally and mercilessly took Andrea Urban’s life,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. “The pain and suffering he inflicted upon Andrea and the entire Hinsdale community that day will never go away. The physical pain Andrea endured at the hands of Dominic Sanders has now transformed into emotional and psychological pain thrust upon the shoulders of those who loved her. A pain they must now bear with no end in sight.” Sanders was sentenced to natural life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder charge, prosecutors said. - Atlanta police officers have
arrested a suspect in the deadly
shooting of a 37-year-old man thanks
to the help of a cyclist.Officers have arrested 21-year-old Nicholas Fonseca for the murder of 37-year-old Andrew Scott Callahan. Callahan was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the 800 block of Willoughby Way NE shortly before 11 p.m. on June 28. On Wednesday, detectives were canvassing the area when they spotted Fonseca, where they say fled the area on the bicycle and jumped on the BeltLine. Officers gave chase on foot. During the pursuit, officials say one of the officers borrowed a bicycle from a nearby cyclist and was able to use it to apprehend Fonseca near Ponce City Market. "We are grateful for the assistance of the cyclist in loaning us his bicycle," the Atlanta Police Department said in a statement. "With help from the community, we can make the City of Atlanta safer." Fonseca is now in custody in the Fulton County Jail charged with felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. - (Black-on-White) |

Central Road where at approximately 5:45 a.m. July 1, they responded to a report of a woman screaming. They said a male offender, identified as Chadene C. Gordon, 25, was attacking the female and fled on foot as officers arrived. He was quickly apprehended in the 800 block of S. Dwyer Avenue, police added. The female victim suffered multiple facial fractures that police said were not reported as life-threatening. Thursday, she remained hospitalized at Northwest Community Hospital due to the severity of the injuries, however. Gordon, who police say was on mandatory supervised release from the Illinois Dept. of Corrections, was charged with aggravated kidnapping, attempted aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery-great bodily harm, and violation of his mandatory supervised release. His last known address is in the 600 block of W. Central Road, Arlington Heights, according to police. He was expected to appear at a bond hearing Thursday. |

International Airport around 2 p.m.
Wednesday after receiving reports of
a battery having taken place.When officers arrived, they spoke to a victim who said they were assisting with a carry-on bag when a passenger, identified as 21-year-old Emmari Jackson, became irate and was told she could not travel due to her behavior. The victim told officers Jackson threw a bag of shoes at the agents at a service desk. The witness said Jackson reached over the service counter to hit an agent, then walked over to another agent and punched them in the head, according to a report. A supervisor for Spirit Airlines attempted to call the police when Jackson ran at them, punched them in the back of the head, then jumped on them, according to a report. When witnesses attempted to pull Jackson off the supervisor, Jackson kicked a victim in the head, according to police. Jackson then grabbed a metal dustpan used for airport cleaning from a nearby custodial cart and proceeded to hit a victim over the back with the dustpan, a report read. Victims told police once the incident was over that the fight broke out over Jackson being charged $65 for her carryon bag. Police took Jackson into custody and took her to the Orange County Jail where she then battered a corrections officer, according to a report. Police said that as Jackson was going through the jail booking process, she was non-compliant and told officers she had COVID-19 before coughing on equipment. A nurse came to escort Jackson to another room but stopped to get Jackson a face mask as a safety precaution, a report read. When the nurse stopped, Jackson became aggressive, trying to escape from officers, and began to cough and spit in the officer’s face, according to a report. When officers tried to direct Jackson towards the ground, she kicked the officer in the chest. Jackson was charged with battery and battery on a corrections officer for both incidents at the airport and jail. She is being held at the Orange County Jail on a $3,500 bond. |

The two suspects stabbed and robbed the victim and then fled on foot, police said. The victim, identified as Paul Behler, was transported to Shock Trauma where he died a short time later. Behler's last known address was a homeless shelter in the 400 block of Fallsway. Police have been unable to find his family. "It's horrible times 10," Detective Donny Moses said. The incident was caught on closed-circuit cameras and the descriptions of the suspects were immediately put out via police radio, officials said. "This entire incident was caught on closed-circuit cameras. In downtown, we have cameras everywhere. It showed our two suspects approaching him, robbing him and running," Moses said. A short time later, officers found the two suspects walking in the 300 block of North Howard Street. "We stopped them without incident. Both suspects had blood on their clothes. One suspect, a 61-year-old man, had the murder weapon in his pocket. The knife contained blood on it as well," Moses said. a ride home.Police say John Lee Ward III was contacted by the victim from the hospital. She asked him to come pick her up and help her home on Feb. 27. When they arrived at the victim's home, she turned on the lights and went to her bedroom to lie down "so that she would not pass out again," court documents state. Ward followed the victim into the room, turned off the lights and began spooning her. Ward allegedly tried to touch the victim inappropriately and attempted to take off her pants. The victim then grabbed his hand and moved it away. Court documents state Ward exclaimed "OK, OK, OK," at which point the victim blacked out. The victim later woke up to Ward trying to kiss her on the lips while he was on top of her. The victim told police she turned her head away and attempted to get out from underneath him, but blacked out again. Court documents state the victim woke up the next morning naked from the waist down. She also found other evidence to indicate that she had been raped. |

Aaron David Robinson. Despite rumors to the contrary, Robinson was not Guillen's superior, Army officials said, and was not the subject of the alleged sexual harassment claims made by Guillen. According to the federal authorities, Robinson told Aguilar that he killed a female soldier by striking her in the head with a hammer while on Fort Hood. Robinson further admitted to Aguilar that he transferred the woman's body off base to a remote site in Bell County. Subsequently, Robinson enlisted the help of Aguilar in disposing of the dead female’s body. The complaint further alleges that at a later time Aguilar recognized the deceased, whom she helped Robinson mutilate and dispose of, as Vanessa Guillen. If convicted, Aguilar faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. |

in connection to three stabbings
in the Lincoln-Lemington area.One of those victims was Greg Walker (Gregory Michael Walker) who died Saturday. “I just can’t believe he’s not here. I don’t believe it,” Christine Walker told KDKA’s Jennifer Borrasso. “Greg was a very kind and warm, loving and giving person. He would never harm a fly. He would do anything for you.” Christine is still in shock after her 37-year-old son was stabbed to death by a stranger. The family has set up a GoFundMe page, which can be found here. She said Greg was mentally disabled and recently started living with his sister. The night he was stabbed, he left the house looking for cigarette butts. The family says he had no money, only a cell phone with him. “He was just wandering like he always does,” Christine said. But Greg never made it home, and police say he was stabbed multiple times near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Wiltsie Street, where police say he died. “I don’t know why this guy would just come up to him and stab him in the face. It just makes me sick,” Christine said. Now all she can do is hope for justice. “I just love him and I miss him. woman is now being treated as a
homicide by police, who have
arrested and charged her
boyfriend with open murder.Derek Horton, 25, was arraigned Monday, June 29 in Calhoun County District Court on a single count of open murder in the death of Amber Griffin, who was reported missing a week earlier. He is being held at the Calhoun County Jail without bond. Horton was Griffin’s boyfriend. Griffin’s body is yet to be found, police said. Griffin was reported missing on June 24 by her mother and Horton, who came into the police station together, Sgt. Joel Case told MLive. Griffin’s mother reported last seeing her daughter the evening of June 22. Horton, according to Case, said he last saw Griffin around midnight that night at the couple’s Bedford Township home. As police began to investigate the missing person complaint, numerous inconsistencies were discovered in the Negro's story. Among those inconsistencies included more than one witness stating they saw the couple together at about 2 a.m. June 23. This was about the same time, Case said, a 911 call was made from Griffin’s phone in which dispatchers could make out an active struggle between a man and a woman. Dispatchers were able to identify the woman’s voice as Griffin’s, Case said. Officers were later able to locate and process two separate scenes, Case said. for killing her beloved husband—
are still at large.“It’s really, really troubling to know that we don’t have the people that did this, that they’re still out there,” Jessica said. Brandon was shot and killed with a 9mm caliber weapon while driving down I-10 on Memorial Day weekend. The couple was headed from a kayaking trip with friends when things went South. “This other vehicle tossed a firework mortar into the truck bed of my husband’s truck. When he sped up next to them, they shot him and killed him through his car door,” Box said. Jessica’s car was having work done and was ready for pick up after the long weekend. Brandon had dropped Jessica off at her car in Mobile on their way back to Mississippi from Florida. Jessica was 20 minutes behind Brandon when the accident happened. She didn’t witness the indecent or the aftermath but says had she been in the vehicle, she likely would have died. A passenger in Brandon’s truck was able to give a description of the suspects and the suspect vehicle. The Jewish News of Northern California via JTA — The school board in Oakland, California, has unanimously voted to abolish the district’s police force in the wake of the nationwide protests against police brutality — with some urging by teens at a city synagogue. A large contingent of young people from Temple Beth Abraham, a Conservative congregation, was involved in pushing the board to adopt what was called the George Floyd Resolution, named for the Black man whose death in May at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer sparked the demonstrations. The resolution, which was passed Wednesday, will reallocate funds to provide social workers, psychologists, restorative justice practitioners and “other mental or behavioral health professionals, as the budget supports, to meet the needs of students.” It was created by the Black Organizing Project, an Oakland-based group that has fought to reform the city’s school district policies around policing. The organization had been trying to eliminate the district’s police force since 2011, but protests sparked by Floyd’s death injected new energy into the effort. which left one person dead.Police say the victim has been identified as Adam David Baith, who police say was shot and killed. Police found Baith when they responded to a shooting on the 900 block of Adams Street at 2:19 a.m. on Monday, June 22. Police have also released photos of who they say is a person of interest in the case. accused of fatally shooting a
local photographer at Jefferson
Square Saturday night had
been arrested twice before for
rioting related charges.WAVE 3 News has learned the suspect’s name is Steven Nelson Lopez. He’s been in police custody since the shooting occurred Saturday around 9 p.m. He’s been charged with one count of murder and one count of wanton endangerment first degree. Lopez, who had been camping at Jefferson Square had been asked to leave earlier in the day by other protesters for his "disruptive behavior" Mayor Greg Fischer said during a press conference Sunday afternoon. According to an arrest report, LMPD officers notified MetroSafe of multiple gunshots fired in Jefferson Square Park around 8:59 p.m. Officers responded on scene at this time to find a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was found unresponsive lying in the middle of the park near a concrete wall. Lopez, according to the report, was seen shooting a firearm into a large crowd of people at the park. The gunfire struck the victim, later revealed by the coroner as Tyler Gerth. Gerth was shot in the head and pronounced dead on scene by officers. While the suspect shot into the crowd, other bystanders returned fire to protect their life and the lives of others. Lopez sustained a non-serious injury from a gunshot wound - (Black-on-White) |

have identified the man they say
spray-painted swastikas on
gravestones at Providence
College on Monday night.According to police, Keveon Gomera, 26, was charged with vandalism and assault with intent to commit a felony. Police say Gomera spray-painted swastikas, defaced multiple gravestones, then attempted to set a grass area on fire at the Dominican Cemetery on campus. According to a spokesperson for Providence College, the central cross and seven headstones were defaced. Providence College has repaired the damage. While a college public safety officer tried to question the suspect, Gomera struck one officer in the head and ran away, according to police. The officer was treated for his injuries at the hospital and later released. The Providence Police Department said over a dozen police officers searched for Gomera, until they found him hiding in shrubs on campus. |

Police reports state that Johnson was at Karma Ultra Lounge and was observed "discharging a firearm in a reckless manner outside" before running west across Merle Hay Road and hiding the firearm, a Ruger 9mm, in a storm drain in front of Tom's Auto Sales. It's unclear based on police reports whether the shots Johnson fired struck anyone. |

authorities.Kier Boneparte, 22, was indicted on the new charge on Tuesday and released on his own recognizance, according to a news release from the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. Boneparte was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide after the fatal Sept. 17, 2019 collision that killed Djeneba Magassa while her mother was feeding the tot in her stroller. But the Bronx DA has added the more serious charge of leaving the scene of an accident, which carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years if Boneparte is convicted. |

PHILADELPHIA
(CBS) — A teenager is facing
charges for a fiery crash on the
Schuylkill Expressway that
killed a tractor-trailer driver.
The wreck happened early
Wednesday morning in the
eastbound lanes near Sweet Briar
Drive. State police are
classifying the fatal crash as a
hit-and-run accident causing
death. The driver is 19 years
old. Authorities identified him as Zamir Abdul-Johnson Selby of Philadelphia. Police say he was driving a stolen Toyota Yaris when he overshot the Girard Avenue exit. He then put the car in reverse on the highway, lost control and hit the tractor-trailer, investigators say. That is when, police say, the driver of the tractor-trailer lost control, hit the barrier and burst into flames. A portion of the tractor-trailer flipped off the highway, landing on Sweet Briar Drive at the intersection of Landsdowne Drive. The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as a 54-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida. It took crews two hours to put out the fire. |

condition and a man is in
custody following a crash in
Lorain on Tuesday night after
police said that he struck her
with a Ford Explorer while she
was getting into her vehicle.
The crash happened just after 10
p.m. in the 1900 block of Long
Avenue.According to the Lorain Police Department, Ja’Quon Moon, 22, of Lorain, was arrested and charged with the following: Aggravated vehicular assault, Operating vehicle while intoxicated, Implied consent to test, Leaving the scene of an accident, Reckless operation, No driver’s license, Obstructing official business Moon was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer and was involved in a crash near West 20th Street and Oberlin Avenue and then fled the scene heading towards Long Avenue where he later crashed into a 41-year-old woman getting into her Mazda minivan, authorities said. The woman was wedged in between her minivan and the Explorer, police said. The impact severed the woman’s leg. Moon then “disengaged from the Mazda” and continued fleeing until the SUV stopped near Long Avenue and West 18th Street where officers took him into custody, police said. |

hit and killed two innocent
people during a chase in north
Harris County, officials say.
The Harris County Sheriff's
Office says that around 9 p.m.
Monday, one of their deputies
clocked a driver in a Mercedes
at 60 mph in a 45 mph zone
southbound near the 10000 block
of Veterans Memorial.The driver has been identified as 31-year-old Alexis Saborit. Officials say the deputy tried to pull over Saborit, who kept going, sparking the chase. At one point during the chase, Saborit went the wrong way, crossing the median to go into the northbound lanes. Deputies say Saborit eventually slammed into 63-year-old bicyclist Jarvis Taylor and kept going. Saborit then hit an innocent 57-year-old driver in a Buick head-on. Unfortunately, Taylor lost his leg in the crash and later died at the hospital. The Buick driver was flown to the hospital, where he also died. He has not been identified. Saborit was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with serious injuries. |

been identified as:58-year-old Roberto Gonzalez of Omaha, Nebraska 56-year-old Annette North of Omaha, Nebraska Previous story: Two people have died in a crash that occurred Wednesday night. Around 9pm, officers were dispatched to the intersection of N 90th Street and Maple Street for a personal injury crash involving three vehicles. The investigation revealed a 2008 Dodge Nitro was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on N 90th Street when it violated a red light signal at Maple Street. The Dodge Nitro collided with a 2002 Dodge Ram which was eastbound on Maple Street. The force of the impact split the Dodge Ram in half. The Dodge Nitro continued south where it struck a 2017 Jeep Renegade which was stopped in traffic and waiting to turn west onto Maple Street from northbound N 90th Street. The driver of the Dodge Nitro was transported to CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital by OFD medics. The driver and passenger of the Dodge Ram were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Nitro was identified as Chinyere Nwuju, 38, of Omaha. She suffered serious injuries to her face. Charges are pending according to police. Lopez and her boyfriend Andres Arias, 21, had been at a birthday celebration on a swanky rooftop bar in Manhattan's Flatiron district on Thursday night when an argument broke out at the bar with another group of customers, after a girl groped Lopez. The couple decided to leave around midnight but they were then confronted by some of the group in the street before a car pulled up and a man opened fire, killing Lopez and injuring Arias. |

Photos released by the FDNY showed dozens of boxes of explosives in the back of a vehicle. The cache was apparently valued at $4,500, officials said. Two men were arrested on Staten Island Tuesday for allegedly possessing a $6,000 trove of illegal fireworks, the FDNY said. |
