GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — Goldsboro police announced Friday evening a murder arrest after finding a woman’s dismembered body earlier in the week.
Police said that a white female, likely in her 30s, was found on a driveway along Bright Street around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Willie Lee Langston Jr., 29, of La Grange, was arrested at the Goldsboro Police Department without incident and charged with murder Friday afternoon, according to a news release from Goldsboro officials. Police said Langston came to the police department about his vehicle being seized in Mt. Olive earlier Friday. Police said Friday they have a “tentative identification” of the woman but are not releasing her ID until they receive a “positive identification” from the State Medical Examiner’s Office and the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory. Neighbors and a 911 call reported the woman’s body was dismembered. Earlier this week, police released a photo of a car they believe was linked to the crime. Tuesday evening, police said they were searching for the car, which appeared to be a Cadillac sedan, in connection with the discovery of the body. Friday afternoon, police said the car was found. They did not say anything else about it or the possible driver. Brooklyn Police search for BLACK FAG suspect they say BUGGERED 6-year-old BOY
Police in Brooklyn Park are asking for help in locating a man they say HOMO-sexually assaulted a
6-year-old in a portable bathroom at a park.
According to police, the alleged assault happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday at Willowstone Park on 95th Avenue North at a family party. Family members could not locate the 6-year-old, then spotted the child exiting the portable toilet followed by the suspect, described as a Black man in his early 20s with short hair on the sides with more volume on top, a thin moustache and wearing a black t-shirt. “When the family member saw the male come out behind the child they immediately went and confronted the male believing something was wrong,” Deputy Chief Mark Bruley said Thursday. “The male suspect was able to diminish those concerns and they let the suspect go. Obviously when they learned there had been a sexual assault, the suspect was already gone.” Investigators believe the man either lives in the neighborhood or has a contact close by. Authorities arrest (Black) Mount Airy man in connection for shooting death of another black man
A "Mount Airy" man has been arrested in connection with Friday's shooting death of another black man
Zaqwan Washain Dobson, 26, of Carolina Road is charged with murder in the death of 23-year-old Tevon Parsons, the Surry County Sheriff's Office said.
Dobson was being held Saturday in the Surry County Jail with no bond allowed on the murder charge, the sheriff's office said. Dobson's bond was set at $75,000 after he was served with outstanding warrants on unrelated criminal charges. Surry County sheriff's deputies found Parsons shot to death Friday on Cedar Ridge Road near Mount Airy, the sheriff's office said. The deputies arrived on the scene at 4:37 p.m. after they received a report of a shooting near 252 Cedar Ridge Road near Mount Airy. The deputies found Parsons dead on the road from an apparent gunshot wound, the sheriff's office said. (Black) Man to serve 18 years for fatal Suffolk shooting in 2018
SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man accused in a fatal shooting in Suffolk in 2018 has been sentenced 45 years in prison with 27 years suspended.
Tavarus Gray Jr. was convicted of second-degree murder after a first-degree murder charge was amended.
He pleaded guilty on March 16, 2020. The shooting happened in November 2018 in Suffolk at the Heritage Acres apartment complex. The victim, Corey Baker, was found shot in the 1000 block of Nansemond Parkway, and died at the scene. |
(Black) Man wanted in Boston on attempted murder charge arrested in VB after allegedly fleeing police and US Marshals
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A 54-year-old man wanted in Boston, Massachusetts, on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon was arrested Thursday in Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) Warrant Fugitive Unit (WFU) officers were assisting agents with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force Thursday around 4 p.m. to take 54-year-old Anthony William Rodgers into custody.
Rodgers was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee and pulled into a convenience store parking lot at 4904 Haygood Road. Fugitive unit officers and marshals followed him into the lot and approached Rodgers’ vehicle. As they were talking to him, he “abruptly drove off,” striking a U.S. Marshals vehicle. He continued to drive away recklessly, police said. He then struck additional Virginia Beach police and marshals vehicles. Police then successfully deployed stop sticks, but Rodgers allegedly continued to elude police. He was ultimately stopped and was taken into custody at Wesleyan Drive near Diamond Springs Road. The distance is about 2 miles. |
NYPD searching for (Black) perv who grabbed women’s butts in the Bronx
A sicko groped the backsides of two women and exposed himself to one of them this week in the Bronx, according to police, who released a photo Saturday of the suspect.
The man first struck Thursday inside a residential building on East 147th Street and Southern Boulevard when he approached a 17-year-old woman from behind at about 1:40 p.m. and touched her buttocks, cops said.
When the 17-year-old confronted the assailant, he ran off police said. Less than an hour later, at about 2:30 p.m., the same creep followed a woman onto an elevator in a residential building on Fox Street and Leggett Avenue, authorities said. This time, the suspect exposed his penis and grabbed the victim’s buttocks, police said. The victim left the elevator and the suspect fled. The pair of vile attacks both happened in the 40th Precinct, which encompasses Port Morris, Mott Haven and Melrose. The NYPD described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 18 to 25-years-old, mustache with a slim build, brown eyes and short black hair. The panhandler approached the 24-year-old victim Wednesday at around 4:30 p.m. on a northbound subway train approaching the Herald Square stop at West 34th Street and the Avenue of the Americas and asked: “You are Chinese, aren’t you?” according to cops, who released a photo of the suspect late Friday. The panhandler then allegedly threatened the victim’s life and tried to snatch his cellphone and bag, according to police. The panhandler stayed on the train — either a B or D, according to police who said the victim was too shaken to remember which after getting off at Herald Square. 18-yr-old tattooed spanic mestizo woman charged with murder of non-spanic in cemetery 
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — An 18-year-old woman has been charged with murder after the body of a 69-year old man was found in a North Carolina cemetery.
Raleigh Police on Saturday night announced the arrest of Maria Elizabeth Pena-Echeverria. She has been charged with murder and is being held at the Wake County Detention Center. Police were called to Mount Olivet Cemetery in the city Friday night, where they found a seriously injured man. He was declared dead later at a nearby hospital. On Saturday, police identified the man as James Lacy Taylor. The investigation is ongoing. The cemetery is adjacent to Schenck Forest, which is magaed (stet) (managed) by North Carolina State University. Campus Police had put out an alert Friday night saying witnesses saw a woman and two men leaving the scene. |

HISPANIC gets 20 years free room and board for murdering a Hispanic 
A man accused of fatally shooting a man and seriously injuring another in 2018 has been sentenced to prison.
Norberto Adame-Rivera was sentenced to 20 years for murder and 10 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The sentences will run concurrently.
A jury found Adame-Rivera guilty on Thursday after five hours of deliberation. 111th District Court Judge Monica Z. Notzon presided over the jury trial that lasted four days. Webb County officials said this was the first post-pandemic criminal trial in the county. It was live streamed on YouTube to provide access to the public. Assistant District Attorney’s Joaquin Rodriguez, Albrecht Riepen and Joe Rodriguez prosecuted the case. Prosecutors said Adame-Rivera fatally shot Jose Juan Martinez and injured Lester Julian Castro. The case dates back to Nov. 2, 2018, when police officers responded to a fight at Club Vibe on 6408 Crescent Loop. Several callers were reporting a large fight outside the club. As officers arrived, the crowd began to disperse. Officers dispersed the crowd and regained peace and control of the premises. At about 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of 15-20 shots fired in the 800 block of East Olive Street. Lester Julian Castro had called 911 saying that he and his friend, Martinez, were shot at. Castro said he was shot in the arms and was bleeding out, according to an arrest affidavit. Meanwhile, Martinez was unresponsive. Castro was taken to Laredo Medical Center for treatment while Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene, the affidavit states. |

HISPANIC Suspect in 2011 murder at Modesto taco truck arrested trying to reenter country from MEXICO 
A man who has been wanted for several years in connection with a 2011 murder at a Modesto taco truck was caught trying to reenter the country from Mexico.
Tomas Solorio Mendoza, 30, has been wanted since 2017 for the shooting death of 22-year-old Samuel Gallardo, who was gunned down Nov. 26, 2011, at a taco truck in front of the El Paraiso bar on Crows Landing Road.
Stanislaus County sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Schwartz said Solorio Mendoza was arrested in Yuma County, Arizona. Arrest records show he was arrested in Arizona on May 11 and extradited back to Stanislaus County on Thursday. He is being held without bail on charges of murder, assault likely to produce great bodily injury and participating in a criminal street gang. Authorities say Gallardo was on a date with his girlfriend and another couple the night of the shooting. The couples had just sat down at one of the picnic benches when a car full of men pulled into the parking lot, according to Bee archives. At least four men got out of the car and began fighting with Gallardo. Within minutes, he was shot. The suspects got back into the vehicle and drove away. Solorio Mendoza and three others were identified as suspects in Gallardo’s murder in June 2017. Authorities arrested Jorge Delatorre then and issued warrants for Solorio and two others. Tony Aurelio Gutierrez Macias, 28, was arrested in Mexico in March 2020 and extradited back to Stanislaus County. His case is still pending. Four cops have come under fire after posing for a photo with a smiling, shirtless and handcuffed bank robbery suspect following a massive manhunt in Mississippi.
The photo emerged a day after Eric Boykin was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly holding up a Hancock Bank in the small town of Prentiss and fleeing the scene. Multiple federal and state law enforcement agencies including the FBI and ATF joined the search before Boykin was found in a wooded area about 600 yards from the bank, according to WLBT. The outlet published the photo of Boykin - who's smiling - flanked by four armed officers and three police dogs. Two of the officers flashed grins, including one of the officers who has his hand on Boykin's shoulder. The image immediately sparked backlash on social media as critics slammed the officers for turning the serious ordeal into a photo-op that resembled hunters posing with an animal trophy. |

The freshman rep, who has taken issue with BLM’s push to defund police departments, said flying the organization’s symbol is an “insult to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our flag and our nation.” The bill was co-sponsored by Malliotakis’ upstate colleague Rep. Elise Stefanik, who signed her name as the newly powerful House GOP Conference Chair. “Our beautiful American flag should fly over our U.S. embassies around the world – not the flag of a political organization founded by Marxists,” Stefanik said. A 205-pound man who sucker-punched a 12-year-old boy who was dancing on a Missouri street corner last summer has been sentenced to 7 years in prison, The Smoking Gun reports.
Cedric Moore, 28, was caught on video exiting a vehicle and sneaking up behind the boy who was identified as Ethan Hagler, and striking him on the side of the head, sending him falling to the pavement. Moore then runs back to the vehicle and leaves the scene. Just before the attack as he was approaching Hagler, Moore could be seen mocking Hagler by doing a dance of his own. Hagler was taken to the hospital with bleeding from his nose and head and was treated for his injuries. Moore pled guilty to the attack earlier this month. He was charged with felony assault. (Black) Crime: ‘He killed him, burned him’: Details in homeless camp murder
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — New court documents reveal gruesome details of a homeless encampment murder investigation in Northeast Portland.
Aaron David Christopher is facing a second-degree murder charge and a first-degree abuse of a corpse charge in connection with the death investigation.
The name of the victim has not been released by authorities. The probable cause affidavit, which was filed by the Multnomah County district attorney’s office on Thursday, stated that officers headed to the scene of a homeless encampment near NE 78th Avenue and NE Schuyler Street on Tuesday evening just after 5 p.m. after a woman called 911 screaming “he killed him, he burned him.” When they arrived, they found the woman in the homeless encampment nearby, which is also near the freeway, and the woman told them she knew the victim and Christopher, who were both homeless, and that they had had “various arguments” that very morning. She allegedly told officers she had left the camp to clear her head for about 30 to 45 minutes, but when she returned, she noticed someone had started a fire and there was lots of smoke, and that Christopher was standing over the fire pit, which had a number of tree branches on top of the pit. She then told officers when she approached the fire pit, “she also saw a hand sticking out from under the wood of the pit,” according to the court documents, which added she saw Christopher ran away after she had tried to prevent him from running away. The woman also told police that Christopher told her another camper named “Shawn” was responsible, but she told officers the other man “was harmless and would never hurt anyone,” according to the affidavit. When an officer went to the fire pit, they found the body of the victim had been “badly burned” on portions of their body, according to the court documents. “The smoldering was coming from the head area and the body’s arms were raised toward the head,” according to the affidavit, which stated police also noticed the body had “cut or puncture wounds” on the victim’s left side. A knife with blood was also allegedly found. Christopher, 40, was quickly found by officers, according to the court document, and that as officers approached him, he dropped a jacket he was carrying. Christopher was arrested by officers, and then allegedly told officers “his friend’s girlfriend told him to leave because it was too crazy,” according to the affidavit. Officers allegedly found “several knives” on Christopher, along with a lighter and a small can of WD-40, which is a potential accelerant. Police said they also found what they believe is a makeshift fire poker out of a PVC pipe with a knife blade attached, and that one end of it “was charred and partially melted.” The other camper named Shawn, later identified as Shawn Eborall, was eventually found in his tent. According to the affidavit, he told investigators he saw Christopher standing over the fire pit as flames grew, but added the fire pit was often on in order to keep people in the camp warm and didn’t think it was unusual seeing Christopher there. A "Minnesota" MIGRANT mother is facing charges of attempted murder after prosecutors say she attacked two of her three children with an unspecified object, resulting in both youngsters being hospitalized.
Details of the case against the suspect, identified as Sadiyo Ibrahim Mohamed , 32, of Woodbury, were spelled out in a "probable cause" statement issued by authorities in Washington County.
One of the children required emergency surgery after suffering a skull fracture, brain bleeding, broken ribs, a lacerated kidney and other injuries, the statement said. After her arrest, the woman claimed to have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and to have been off her medications for a couple of months. She claimed to be suffering from paranoia and hallucinations in recent days and believed her children had been "playing games on her," according to the statement. She blamed the alleged attack against the children on her medical condition and claimed she had been hospitalized in the past for mental health reasons, the statement said. According to the statement, police in Woodbury – located just east of St. Paul – received a 911 call around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday about a woman chasing after a screaming child. When the officers approached the woman, she appeared to be "staring off into the distance" and repeating a phrase in a non-English language. The woman, later identified as Mohamed, was handcuffed and placed inside a patrol car – and then handcuffed again after she managed to slip her arms free, the statement said. The child heard screaming was 6 years old and appeared to have a broken arm, according to the statement. Officers then heard witnesses alerting them about a 5-year-old child lying on the ground nearby. That child was found to be bleeding from a head wound and from other, lesser injuries. A TEENAGER has today appeared in court charged with conspiracy to murder a Black Lives Matter activist blasted in the head at a party.
Sasha Johnson, 27, was left fighting for life after being shot at the bash in Peckham, South East London, on Sunday morning.
Cameron Deriggs, 18, today appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with conspiracy to murder. The teen spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing. He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on June 25. Deriggs was one of five men aged 17 to 28 quizzed on suspicion of attempted murder on Wednesday. The remaining four have been released on bail until a date in late June. Self-styled 'Black Panther of Oxford' Sasha remains in a critical condition in hospital. It comes after cops were scrambled to the shooting, which was close to a house party, at around 3am on Sunday. A man aged in his 20s suffered a superficial knife injury during the incident but has been discharged from hospital. (Black) Higginsville man, 44, charged in double fatal shooting Sunday in Independence
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is accused in the May 23 murders of a man and woman found shot in an SUV in Independence, Missouri.
Steven B. Turner, 44, of Higginsville, Missouri, is charged in Jackson County Court with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.
Independence police officers found Billy M. Davis and Ashley D. Walker in a bullet-riddled SUV with its driver's side and rear windows shattered by gunfire, according to a court document. The shooting happened behind a house on Huttig Avenue and police found the SUV nearby after it collided with the front end of a parked car. One person told police Turner was friends with Walker and often helped her with her utility bills, a court document states. Turner and Davis did not get along and police were told Turner shot at Davis twice — once at a Northland hotel and at Davis's residence in Kansas City, Missouri. The court document states shell casings recovered at the shooting scene matched shell casings in five other incidents in the area, including a homicide in September 2020. Police found Turner at a Kansas City, Missouri, apartment building. He threw a gun out the window, but detectives found the weapon. Turner later told police he received a call the morning of May 23 from an unknown number, the document states. The caller told Turner that Davis was at a house in Independence and it would be a good time to shoot him, the document states. Turner said he saw Davis sitting in the running SUV in the backyard of the house. The court document states Turner told detectives he stepped outside the house and shot 17 times at the SUV. He also told detectives and others he did not know Walker was in the SUV when he opened fire. (Black) Fayetteville man charged in shooting death of pregnant woman, unborn child
The Fayetteville Police Department charged a man in connection with the killing of 22-year-old Ashanti Bellamy and her unborn child after she was left to die in a roadway on May 17.
Officers found Bellamy suffering from a gunshot wound in the roadway on the 800 block of Ridge Road along with her boyfriend, Gharen Terry. Both were taken to a hospital where Bellamy would later die and the boyfriend would be released after treatment.
Raymond Earl Holmes Jr., 41, of the 6000 block of Abbots Park Drive in Fayetteville, was charged with first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon. Police said he was arrested without incident by the Fayetteville Police Department and members of the United States Marshals Task Force. Holmes is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. The Bellamy family spoke to Eyewitness News over the phone and say that the arrest of Holmes is bringing some closure. Teresa, Bellamy's mother, said her daughter was fun, energetic and still had the rest of her life ahead of her. Fayetteville police are trying to find more information about a shooting that killed a pregnant woman earlier this week. A newly obtained arrest warrant reveals Bellamy and Terry were physically attacked by Holmes and another suspect near the Ryder Court area on May 17. It goes on to say that Holmes and the other suspect forced the two into a black Mercedes with Holmes getting into a Gold Lexus to follow the other suspect to the Ridge Road area. There, the report, which is Terry's eyewitness account, states that he and Bellamy escaped from the Mercedes. That's when Terry tells police Holmes started firing his weapon in the direction of the two of them. Terry was shot but able to get away and survived his injuries. Bellamy was hit and collapsed in the roadway, dying from her injuries along with her 6-month-old unborn baby. District Attorney Billy West was at Holmes' first court appearance on Friday afternoon. "Terrible and tragic situation. Two lives lost in this situation, another person injured," West said. |

A teen boy and a woman are both behind bars in the shooting death of a 40-year-old man in Fayetteville, authorities said.
Laticia Ramon Brown, 28, and Tyliek Saheem Gillespie, 16, were both charged in the death of Eric Robinson, who was shot during a robbery and later died in the hospital on the early morning of April 17 along the 2000 block of Osceola Drive. Both were arrested without incident and are now being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. Gillespie, of the 100 block of Hill View Street, was charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy. The Fayetteville Police Department said he is being tried as an adult due to being previously convicted as an adult in an unrelated case. Brown, of the 5000 block of Starbeam Drive, was also charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy. |

Some mothers of Black sons and daughters killed by police officers are criticizing the Black Lives Matter national organization amid controversy over co-founder Patrisse Cullors’ lavish lifestyle.
"It’s all a facade," Samaria Rice, the mother of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed by a White police officer in Cleveland in 2014, told the New York Post on Saturday.
Rice said she requested Cullors' help in re-launching a federal investigation into her son’s death. But short of exchanging a few emails, her pleas never garnered face time with the Black Lives Matter executive director. "They are benefiting off the blood of our loved ones, and they won’t even talk to us," Rice said. Cullors announced her departure after a five-year reign earlier this week following reports she had purchased four homes for $3.2 million. Hawk Newsome, the head of Black Lives Matter Greater New York City -- a separate group -- called for an "independent investigation" into the national organization's finances. Cullors said her decision to step down was not tied to the controversy, but to instead focus on her second book and a television deal with Warner Bros. But some frustrated Black mothers have accused the organization of profiting off their "dead loved ones." In a March statement, Rice joined Lisa Simpson -- the mother of 18-year old Richard Risher, who was fatally shot in 2016 in Los Angeles – in condemning the Black Lives Matter movement for "monopolizing and capitalizing our fight for justice." "We never hired them to be the representatives in the fight for justice for our loved ones murdered by police," the mothers wrote. The mother of Breonna Taylor, a Kentucky Black woman shot and killed by police during a raid on her home, said the group's national standing has yet to help her following her daughter’s death. "I have never personally dealt with BLM Louisville and personally have found them to be fraud," Tamika Palmer wrote in an April Facebook post, The Post reported. |

As it turns out the suspects were also black The owner was convinced that video footage was the safest way to discover who was behind the vandalism acts, so he put up surveillance cameras to capture images of the attackers. Only 24 hours later, he got a nasty surprise. He showed the footage to WRAL's Gilbert Baez. In the video two young men who appear to be black are seen trying to steal one of Haynesworth's cars. The owner said his vehicles were damaged, with several paint scratches and broken windows. SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGET) — Prison guards allegedly falsified reports the day a man was found decapitated in the cell he shared with convicted murderer Jamie Osuna, according to a report from the Office of the Inspector General.
Two officers at Corcoran State Prison allegedly falsely reported they saw Luis Romero alive during their rounds at a time when Romero was already dead, according to a report slamming the investigation conducted by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Romero, 44, was beheaded and stabbed in the eye, and other parts of his body were removed in the March 9 slaying. Osuna wore parts of his body as a necklace and admitted to grisly slaying. “A third officer and a fourth officer allegedly did not report that they had each observed the first two officers fail to properly conduct the counts,” according to the report. “The first officer also allegedly lied during his Office of Internal Affairs’ interview.” The Office of the Inspector General report says the special agent who conducted the investigation failed to interview several key witnesses and didn’t look into whether officers appropriately placed Osuna and Romero together. Osuna had previously told media nothing give him more pleasure than killing. A lawsuit filed by Romero’s family say the prison ignored protocol requiring a committee to evaluate two inmates being celled together. It also lists the facility’s failure to conduct safety checks. |

Austin police still searching for 20-year-old HISPANIC suspect in deadly March shooting 
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The mother of Christopher Ray Martinez, who died after being shot in southeast Austin on March 21, is urging the public to come forward with any information they may have — in hopes of catching the suspect believed to have fired the weapon.
“All I want is justice for my son, Chris. My son was taken away from me way too soon. I miss my son very much and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about him,” Christopher’s mom Joyce Martinez said Tuesday. The shooting happened in a parking lot located in the 2200 block of East Riverside Drive, just east of the H-E-B store on Interstate 35. When officers arrived, they found the 40-year-old Martinez with gunshot wounds. South Buffalo parish removing memorial of accused priest Stanton
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Monsignor William G. Stanton spent more than two decades as pastor of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in South Buffalo.
He died in 2004, but the church’s stained-glass windows and bronze memorial plaque stand as symbols of Fr. Stanton’s legacy of being open to change in the Catholic Church.
But now a new sort of change is coming as a parish comes to grips with allegations that Stanton was a child abuser. Two memorials to him in the rear of the church -- a bronze plaque and framed vestments -- will soon be taken down. “That was very fulfilling to me,” said Kevin Brun, an abuse survivor and member of the Buffalo Survivors Group, which advocates for victims of child sexual abuse. “I think it’s a very important first step if we’re going to implement real, tangible change within the Diocese of Buffalo." Brun first approached leaders at the former St. Ambrose, which is now named Our Lady of Charity Parish. Soon after, the parish council voted unanimously to remove the plaque, Fr. Steven A. Jekielek, the church’s pastor, confirmed to 7 Eyewitness News. “The courage that they showed, to look to their conscience and their moral fiber and come to a decision that’s right and just...I’m hoping that other parishes in Western New York who have similar memorials will follow suit,” Brun said. Stanton was vice principal at the now-closed Bishop Turner High School in the 1960s, where most of the abuse is alleged to have taken place. One man came forward in 1993 to allege sexual abuse in high school and Stanton denied the allegations. Another came forward in 2008, also alleging sexual abuse in high school in the 1960s. After the sex scandal broke in 2018 under former Bishop Richard J. Malone, two more men filed lawsuits in State Supreme Court, alleging abuse when they were 14 and 15 years old. According to court records, Stanton is also accused of abusing an 8-year-old girl at St. Bridget’s Church in Newfane, where Stanton was assigned in the 1970s, before he came to St. Ambrose. He is also accused of ordering a 12-year-old altar boy to fondle himself as Stanton masturbated himself from behind at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School in Niagara Falls in 1952 or 1953. Later, he allegedly struck the boy so hard that he lost hearing, court documents stated. |

Jurors in the trial of an illegal immigrant charged with the brutal 2018 murder of Mollie Tibbetts found Cristhian Bahena Rivera
guilty of first-degree murder on Friday in a case that drew national attention because of the suspect's immigration status.
The verdict was announced Friday afternoon after a two-week trial in Davenport, Iowa, in which Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 26, faced the first-degree murder charge for which he was convicted. After the verdict, prosecutor Scott Brown said the Tibbetts family was "relieved" and pleased with the decision. Jurors reached their decision after deliberating for just over seven hours. Excluding the alternates, the jurors ranged in age from 19 to 71. The panel was made up of five females and seven males, of which three were of Hispanic descent and nine were White. Juror Robert Reed told Fox News the panel was confident in its decision, noting that the charged nature of the case didn't play a role in the outcome. "I think especially for a lot of us, it was very emotional," he said. "What we really had to do is put all of our emotions to the side. And that's not what it was about." Bahena Rivera, who came to the U.S. illegally from Mexico as a teenager, will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, which is a mandatory sentence upon conviction. He will be held without bond pending a July 15 sentencing hearing. Defense attorneys Chad and Jennifer Frese said they plan to appeal the jury's decision on their client's behalf. "Anytime you have a client who gives a statement like he did, and the fact that there was DNA evidence in the trunk and the fact that he led them to the body, it makes it extraordinarily difficult," he told reporters after the decision was announced. Frese said the decision to have Bahena Rivera testify "wasn't as difficult as a lot of people want to make it sound." He said the testimony his client provided during the trial "was exactly the version of events he told us going back to August 2018." "He had never varied from that version of events, not one, not one detail," Frese said. "We thought the jury needed to hear directly from him." During closing arguments, prosecutors urged the jury to convict Bahena Rivera, 26, for the death of the University of Iowa student, citing "overwhelming evidence" that tied him to the killing. The defense rested its case Wednesday after Bahena Rivera testified that two men killed Tibbetts and forced him to transport her body in his car and threatened to harm his family. Brown called Bahena Rivera's testimony "a figment of his imagination." He argued that Bahena Rivera drove past Tibbetts, 20, as she was running on July 18, 2018 in Brooklyn, Iowa and made advances towards her. When she rebuffed him, he got angry, Brown said. He then killed her and hid her body in a cornfield, he said. "He's coming up with something totally new," Brown said of the Bahena Rivera's testimony after the verdict. Defense lawyer Chad Frese said his client gave authorities a false confession that was coerced. He noted that investigators never found a murder weapon or produced witnesses showing where Tibbetts was killed. He and other members of a DEA Task Force had knocked on the home's door and announced themselves but did not receive a response. As they forced entry into the home the wanted subject opened fire from inside, striking Detective Arnold five times. The man was taken into custody and pleaded guilty to federal charges as a result of the narcotics investigation and of shooting Detective Arnold. Detective Arnold remained in a coma until passing away from his wounds on May 23rd, 2021. Detective Arnold had served with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office for 12 years and was assigned to the DEA Task Force. He is survived by his parents and two sisters. HAMMOND, La. (WVUE) - A Hammond woman was arrested today due to her involvement in a physical altercation last night that turned into a stabbing, police say.
De’Monica Butler, 23, got into a physical fight and allegedly used a knife to stab the victim multiple times.
The victim was transported to North Oaks Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery. Police say that officials from North Oaks reported the crime after receiving the victim for care. Today, detectives obtained and executed an arrest warrant for Butler and she was officially charged with attempted second-degree murder. The investigation is ongoing, authorities say. TEMPE, AZ — A man has been arrested in connection to the death of a 13-month-old boy who died in 2019 in Tempe.
According to Tempe police, Khairee Ammar Patton was watching his recent girlfriend’s child while she was at work on January 9, 2019.
While responsible for the child, Patton took him to the Cardon Children’s Hospital after he claimed the boy had hit his head on a stereo and became unresponsive. The child eventually died from his injuries. Police were notified of the incident after a doctor said the boy’s injuries were not consistent with Patton’s claim. Doctors believed the child’s injuries were consistent with abuse. On Tuesday, Patton, a member of the US Army, was arrested at an Army base in Ft. Hood, Texas for an outstanding felony warrant in the case. Patton will be extradited from Texas to Arizona on charges of second-degree murder, two counts of child abuse, and failure to provide care. |
Phoenix police arrest BLACK alleged SERIAL RAPIST connected to six assaults
PHOENIX — Phoenix police have arrested a man believed to be connected to at least six sexual assault cases dating back to 2016.
According to police, 48-year-old Kedrin Wardell was most recently connected to a sexual assault that occurred on July 7, 2020. Police say a woman was sexually assaulted near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road.
Wardell, who matched the victim’s description of the suspect, was located nearby and detained. DNA evidence was then collected from both the victim and Wardell. On May 21, 2021, Phoenix police were notified that DNA testing was able to match Wardell to the 2020 sexual assault, as well as three others that happened between 2016 and 2019. Police also connected Wardell to two other sex assaults without DNA evidence. Details on those two cases were not made available. |

Barron and Leon will be transported back to Merced. Barron and Leon were two of six inmates who escaped from the downtown Merced County Main Jail by gaining access to the roof of the jail and used a handcrafted rope to scale down the side of the building. Edgar Ventura, 22, of Portland, Ore., was the first inmate captured on Jan. 12 without incident in the Firebaugh. Ventura turned himself into the Firebaugh Police Department after being encouraged by family members to turn himself in, according to officials. Later that day, Fabian Cruz Roman, 22, of Los Banos, and Andres Nunez Rodriguez, 21, of Planada, were apprehended in the San Diego area as they tried to make their way to the U.S./Mexico border. Virginia police arrest (black) suspect in shooting that left military couple dead
Edward McDaniel Jr. and Brenda McDaniel were named as the husband and wife military veterans and physicians who were shot to death in their front yard in Springfield, Virginia, in a mysterious double murder described as “heinous” by the police chief.
Kevin Davis, Fairfax County police chief, called it a “brutal murder….It’s a tragedy. It’s something that shouldn’t happen… we need to bring this person to justice. We still need to identify this killer and get him off the street.” Davis said the gunman is “likely still local.” By May 27, 2021, police announced they had two suspects in custody; they were searching for a 20-year-old suspect earlier in the day. They did not release additional details. “The vehicle of interest in the Flint St. homicide, a 2018 Nissan Altima, was located thanks to a community tip. A second person of interest was taken into custody. Ronnie Keandre Marshall has not yet been located, call 911 with information,” police wrote. Then, they said, “Two suspects from the Flint St. homicide have been taken into custody. Details will be shared by Chief Kevin Davis at a 6 p.m. news conference at Public Safety Headquarters.” They didn’t reveal whether Marshall was one of the two suspects under arrest, however. But the Washington Post said Marshall is being accused of murder in the death of the couple. Two people were arrested and there are eight charges pending in the “vicious murders of our American heroes,” said commander Ed O’Carroll. “They did nothing wrong. They were tragically, horribly murdered in their neighborhood,” Davis said. WEST NORRITON, Pa. (CBS) – A Montgomery County father is facing charges in the death of his infant daughter. Craig Baylis, 31, of West Norriton is charged with third-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say Baylis was home alone with his 6-week-old daughter, Mackenna, in February. The child’s mother returned home and found the little girl lifeless. Black Crime: Jessica Edwards’ husband says she died during a fight about guinea pigs
A Connecticut man accused of killing his wife confessed to kneeling on her neck until she stopped breathing, claiming that they were in a violent fight over guinea pigs that he gave her as a present, police said.
Tahj Hutchinson, 22, told authorities that a fight with his wife, Jessica Edwards, 30, over Mother’s Day weekend turned physical at their South Windsor home, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. He said that the couple was bickering because Edwards wanted to go to the nail salon and he had given her guinea pigs as a gift, the Journal Enquirer reported. Edwards was allegedly upset because the new pets would be bothered by the smell of acrylic nails, meaning she couldn’t get them done. More than three weeks after Beaumont Police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a homicide, a Jefferson County Jury on Wednesday indicted him on suspicion of murder.
A grand jury indicted Bradley Konning, 24, in the murder of Lizeth Carpio, his 32-year-old wife, according to a Jefferson County indictment documents.
Beaumont police found Carpio’s body April 29 outside of her home with an upper-body gunshot wound the 2500 block of McFaddin Street in Beaumont. Beaumont EMS pronounced her dead on the scene. During Beaumont PD’s investigation, they found a witness who said she was on the phone with Carpio before Konning arrived to Carpio’s home, according to a probable cause affidavit. The witness advised Carpio to call the police. The last thing the witness heard while on the phone with Carpio, was “Bradley (Konning) is here,” before the phone disconnected, according to a probable cause affidavit. He was arrested in late April Konning is being held on $1 million bond. |

Two Century residents were charged after an alleged altercation involving a sword and a baseball bat earlier this month.
Mariah Brianna Moore, 29, and Justin Eugene Moore, 22, were both charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The relationship between the two, if any, was not specified in Escambia County Sheriff’s Office reports.
A male and female were at their mailbox in the 4000 block of Highway 4A when Mariah Moore started a verbal argument before throwing rocks at the female, according to an arrest report. The male victim threw a rock back at Mariah Moore, at which time Justin Moore exited a residence with a bat at hit the male three or four times, the report continues. Mariah Moore then cut the female victim with what deputies described as a small “samurai style sword”, The female victim was transported to Jay Hospital; the male victim was treated on scene by Escambia County EMS. Deputies noted that other individuals involved in the incident may face charges. Dunbar was already charged with stealing $15,000 while he worked at Wells Fargo, and obtaining citizenship through a sham marriage.

A 37-year-old parolee was busted by police after he allegedly broke into a Park Slope grocery store early Wednesday morning, sources said.
Mohamed Shoman is accused of trying to steal over $4,000 worth of property from Union Market on 7th Avenue, according to sources.
Police responded to the location at about 2 a.m. when a store alarm was activated — and at first, they could not find an intruder, sources said.
But while checking security footage, officers saw Shoman hiding out in a crawl space (like a rat, like a snake), according to sources. When police confronted the suspect, he was armed with what appeared to be a gun, but ended up being an imitation firearm, sources said. “I am not going back to jail, you have to shoot me,” Shoman told police, according to sources. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida-based group of Romanian nationals stole $740,000 from hundreds of churches by taking donation checks from their mailboxes and cashing them, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Wednesday.
Four people were arrested and two others are wanted in what authorities are calling “Operation Thou Shalt Not Steal.”
The group was based in Orlando but traveled throughout Florida and other states stealing checks, investigators said. Tyler Terry, the South Carolina man who was arrested in connection with four murders after a weeklong police search, appeared in court Tuesday.
Terry is accused of killing four people from May 2 to May 15 across two states. The victims are Eugene Simpson, 33; Thomas Hardin, 35; Barbara Goodkin, 71; and Sergei Zacharev, 58. A police search for him was launched after he got into a high-speed chase with Chester County deputies on May 17, during which he allegedly fired at officers, the Chester County Sheriff's Department said at the time. FROSTPROOF, FL — An inmate at the Polk County Jail has been accused of killing his cellmate by stomping on him inside their cell May 13, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
"John Smith", 36, severely stomped Shaun Seaman, 40, in their shared cell at the South County Jail in Frostproof, authorities said. The stomping caused the victim to bleed and go unconscious. PHOENIX (AP) — A suspect has been arrested in two fatal stabbings last year in Phoenix, according to authorities. Phoenix police said 48-year-old Major McKenzie
was taken into custody Tuesday on suspicion of two counts of second-degree murder. He’s jailed on a $2.5 million bond.
It was unclear Wednesday if McKenzie has a lawyer yet who can speak on his behalf. Court documents show McKenzie was accused of stabbing an unidentified victim 12 times on May 31, 2020. An alleged car thief face-planted when trying to run from cops in New Jersey — and he was left with bruises and an eye swollen shut, his mugshot revealed.
The man and a pal boosted a taxi from Union City Tuesday afternoon and cops tracked the 2008 Crown Victoria a few towns north, cops told the Daily Voice.
Fairview cops tried to stop the stolen taxi at Anderson and Day avenues when the driver, Aliaga Guillermo, slammed on the gas and t-boned a small SUV, cops said. Guillermo ran away but tripped and face-planted, leaving his face bruised and cut up, cops said. Luis Flores, 23, who was in the passenger seat, was arrested as well, and both were charged with aggravated assault while fleeing law enforcement, resisting arrest and receiving stolen property, according to the report. 3 blacks arrested in I-220 homicide and shooting of young girl; police believe cases are connected to ongoing drug feud
(BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - The Bossier City Police Department is announcing the arrest of three people allegedly connected to two separate cases: a homicide on I-220 and a young girl shot in the leg in Golden Meadows. Both cases happened in January of 2020.
On Jan. 17, Sheniquel Sade O’Neal, 29, was found shot to death in her car, which had crashed on I-220 near Airline Drive. On Jan. 30, a young girl was shot in the leg after shots were fired into a home in the 5000 block of Honeysuckle Lane in Golden Meadows. After more than a year of investigating, Bossier City detectives have arrested Roger Hicks in connection with both crimes. Hicks is facing numerous charges, including first-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. Hicks was identified as a suspect in the Honeysuckle Lane case and was arrested on three counts of attempted first-degree murder in late February of 2021. Three people were home at the time of the shooting, police say. Hicks was later linked to the I-220 homicide case. Aaron Simmons, 26, and Tamara Green, 31, were also arrested in connection with that case. Simmons is charged with first-degree murder, while Green is charged with accessory after the fact and failure to report certain felonies. Police say both cases as suspected to be linked to an ongoing feud over illegal drug activity. |

A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a 28-year-old Center Point man in last year’s shooting death of a teen at Jefferson County apartment complex.
Antonio Nichols II is charged with capital murder in the Nov. 9, 2020 slaying of 18-year-old Ja’Mari Demetrius Harris. Nichols remained at large for several weeks after the deadly shooting before he was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Nov. 23, 2020 where he remains held. Harris was killed Monday, Nov. 9, at Park Brook Apartments. Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies arrived to find Harris unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:33 p.m. A motive in the deadly shooting has not yet been released. The charge is capital because, according to the indictment, the fatal shots were fired from within a vehicle. Harris grew up in the Clay area and had attended Clay Chalkville High School. He was planning to go back to finish his degree and had hoped to move away from Alabama to join his sister in Texas. “He wanted to make a better life,’' his sister, TaNysha Mitchell, told AL.com shortly after the homicide. “He actually just worked all the time to save money so he could leave.” Harris lived with his mother and stepfather not far from the apartment complex. His best friend lived at Park Brook and his sister said that’s likely why he was there. “He loved his family and he always made sure everyone was OK,’' Mitchell said. “He was just full of life. He wanted nothing but the best for everyone and when he could help someone, he would. He was the best.” |

A former UAB football player has been indicted in the shooting death of a nursing student less than a week before Christmas.
A Jefferson County grand jury issued the indictment against 23-year-old Carlos Stephens on May 6, and the indictment was made public Tuesday. He is charged with capital murder in the Dec. 17 fatal shooting of 20-year-old Destiny Washington during the sale of AirPods in the parking lot of UAB’s student center. Stephens has been held without bond since his arrest on Dec. 21, 2020. Stephens was a standout football player at Thompson High School, and then went on to play at UAB for his freshman year where he also excelled on the field. He was still a student, but no longer playing football, at the time of his arrest The shooting happened about 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, in the parking lot of UAB’s Hill Center at University Boulevard and 14th Street South. Washington was with her boyfriend and were there to sell someone – a person police now say was Stephens – a pair of Airpods. Family said the boyfriend realized the money was fake and began to drive off and that’s when the suspect fired a shot into the vehicle, striking Washington. Prosecutors claim Stephens fired on a vehicle in which Washington was a passenger after the sale of the Air Pods, a deal brokered through Facebook messenger, went bad. Stephens’ attorney claims Stephens fired in self-defense after he saw that Washington’s boyfriend was armed with a handgun. The boyfriend drove Washington to Children’s of Alabama – the closest hospital - where she was pronounced dead. |
Suspect (with middle name 'JIHAD') jailed in slaying of 68-year-old man on Midfield porch
A suspect has been charged in a shooting last week that left a 68-year-old man dead.
Marquis Jihad McCullum, 27, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail early today. He is charged with murder in the May 17 death of Sherman Edward Cornette.
Midfield police and fire medics responded at 1:19 a.m. that Monday to McCullum’s residence in the 100 block of Creel Street. Cornette was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:27 a.m. Midfield Police Chief Jesse Bell said McCullum awoke to hearing a noise and found Cornette on his front porch. It doesn’t appear the two men knew each other. Some kind of confrontation took place, and Cornette was fatally shot. Bell said detectives presented the evidence to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, which deemed murder to be the appropriate charge under the circumstances surrounding the shooting. McCullum was jailed at 1:48 a.m. and remains held on $100,000 bond. PASADENA, Texas – A man is dead after authorities said he was shot multiple times by his ex-wife Tuesday afternoon outside a business in Pasadena.
The Pasadena Police Department said Samantha Sherdrail Washington, 31, has been charged with murder in the death of Kirk Gregory Jr., 28.
The shooting was reported in the parking lot of SBM Life Science in the 3000 block of Pasadena Boulevard. Police said the couple shares a child together. Police said Washington was taken into custody after leading a brief chase near Yellowstone and Pansy Street. It is unknown if the child was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. |

A shocking new video shows a pair of armed thieves shoot a man who tried to fight back during a robbery in The Bronx, cops said Tuesday.
The violent episode unfolded around 8:30 p.m. on May 16 when two thugs pulled guns on a 31-year-old man and a 38-year-old man outside 1534 Selwyn Ave., cops said.
One of the gunmen pistol-whipped the younger man and grabbed a bag with roughly $2,500 inside from the other, according to police. Laquai Barrett, 31, was arrested May 20 after police say he attacked a woman outside her Buckhead gated community, dragged her into her garage and tried to rape and strangle her.
The victim, who gave her harrowing account to Channel 2 Action News, fought back and was able to run inside and trip her alarm system. Barrett stole her cell phone before running away and police were able to use an app on the victim’s phone to track him down and arrest him in a nearby park. CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA) - A 38-year-old man is facing life imprisonment after being convicted of raping a child.
On Friday, May 21, Broderick Dewayne Crawford was convicted by a Caddo Parish jury of first-degree rape. The decision from the seven-man, five-woman jury was unanimous. The jury determined on July 21 or 22, 2019, Crawford forced an 11-year-old child to perform certain sexual acts upon him. The mandatory sentence for first-degree rape is life in prison without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Crawford is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Chris Victory on June 21. |

Bossier Crime Stoppers posted on Facebook Tuesday, May 18, saying in January of 2020, the Bossier City Police Department got a report about the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl, which reportedly happened in the 200 block of Colquit Street in Bossier City during the week of Thanksgiving in 2019. During the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued in September of 2020 for Mason Jemar Johnson, 21, on the charge of first-degree rape. Officials have been unable to locate Johnson and are asking for the public’s help. |

A quick-thinking operator managed to stop his F train about 30 feet from a man who was pushed onto the tracks at a Queens subway station Monday morning.
Subway operator Tobin Madathil told The Post that he was pulling into the 21st Street-Queensbridge station around 7:45 a.m. when he jumped into action once he thought he saw something in his path.
“Right when I was coming into the station people were waving at me, and that’s when I immediately placed the train into emergency mode,” Madathil, 29, said in a phone Monday phone interview. Moments earlier, a crazed suspect had shoved the Asian male onto the tracks — the latest in a spate of attacks in the city’s subway system. Madathil said he was able to bring his train to a stop about 10 yards from the man. “I’m glad I was able to stop on time and didn’t hit the guy, thank God!” the operator said. About the same time, good Samaritans from the platform were also helping the victim up, according to Madathil. “I exited the train and went to the victim. He was bleeding from the head,” recalled Madathil. Madathil said he called the subway control center and requested medical attention. Soon after, EMS and police arrived, he said. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center with a cut on his forehead. Two years into being a train operator, Madathil explained how he always tries to be ready for the unexpected. “I just try to stay focused at all times when I operate, just watch the tracks and platform, just be alert,” he said. The suspected subway shover remained on the loose Monday. During the attack, he said something to the victim, who did not understand him, cops said. Jeffrey Carl Fleming, 39, was arrested in connection with the crimes that occurred between Friday and Sunday, according to the Hallandale Beach Police Department.
Police say a man went on a rant outside the Chabad of South Broward on Friday. He dumped a bag of feces in front of the synagogue and yelled, "Jews should die," according to a police report. He also spat at a menorah near a sidewalk. Fleming has been charged with stalking with an enhancing charge for a hate crime and for littering human waste, police said. HISPANIC man accused of ramming vehicle into crowd, killing his mother 
HOUSTON – The man accused of ramming his vehicle into a group of people at a Katy restaurant and killing his mother appeared before a judge Saturday.
Homero Lopez is facing several charges in connection with the crime. Authorities said there were seven or eight people arguing in the parking lot of Pinchy’s Tex-Mex when Lopez rammed into the group, killing his mother, 35-year-old Crystal Gómez, and injuring multiple others.
According to authorities, Lopez fled the scene but later returned and was arrested and charged with two counts of failure to stop and render aid and one count of murder. The 20-year-old appeared before a judge just before 1 a.m. where the judge ruled that his case did have probable cause to move forward after hearing arguments from both sides. During the court hearing, the judge set a bond of $40,000 for both failure to render aid charges and $50,000 for the murder charge. Lopez must also surrender his passport if he has one and his travel is restricted to Harris County or nearby counties. Border officers find $35K worth of heroin stashed in MEXICAN woman's crotch
More than two pounds of heroin was found stashed in a woman’s crotch this week at a checkpoint south of Tucson, Border Patrol agents say.
Agents at the Nogales Station were working the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint Wednesday afternoon when the heroin was discovered during an inspection on a shuttle bus.
An agent detected a foreign object in the woman's groin area during a body search, an agency news release said. It turned out to be a package of heroin. The estimated value of the package was estimated at $35,000. |

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WICS/WCCU) — Two Champaign Police officers were shot early Wednesday morning.
One of the officers and the suspect who allegedly shot them have died.
The second officer is in stable condition.
The suspect accused of killing Officer Chris Oberheim — 24-year-old Darion M. Lafayette of Champaign — was killed in an apparent exchange of gunfire.
This wasn’t the first time Lafayette has been in trouble with the Champaign Police Department. According to the Champaign County Circuit Clerk's Office, back in 2017, Lafayette faced charges of aggravated domestic battery - strangulation, domestic battery - physical contact, and criminal damage to property ranging from $500 to $10,000. But that's only the beginning. In July 2018, Lafayette was charged with possession of meth and possession of a controlled substance. One man has been charged with firearms violations in the shooting that killed two people and wounded 12 at a house party Saturday night in Fairfield Township, authorities announced Monday morning.

Kevin K. Dawkins, 36, who lives on Commerce Street, the same street where the party took place, is charged with four gun crimes, one that accuses him of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said. “This was a targeted attack,” Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said. Investigators recovered multiple firearms at the scene. He identified the two victims who died as Asia Hester, 25, and Kevin Elliott, 30. Grewal, Webb-McRae and State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan declined to elaborate on the investigation, discuss a possible motive or say if gangs were suspected in the incident. Johnston County, N.C. — A 20-year-old woman told authorities she was brutally beaten and raped on May 14 in Johnston County after meeting up with a man she had just met on a dating app.
Kanijah Nigel Crisp, 23, from Garner was arrested five days after the assault and is being charged with first-degree forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree forcible sex offense and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The woman agreed to meet a man after talking with him online. She told authorities she never got that man’s name, and law enforcement officers did not say how they connected Crisp to the crime. Officials say the woman was forced to drive her assailant back to his neighborhood after the attack. The woman now has a skull fracture and serious injuries. (Black) Suspect identified after exchanging gunfire with NYPD in Bronx stickup
Police identified the man who allegedly exchanged gunfire with officers after sticking up a Bronx cellphone store last week.
The suspect, identified by police Sunday as Calvin Peterkin, 39, allegedly got into a dispute with employees at Boost Mobile on East 174th Street near Bryant Avenue in Crotona Park East around 6:20 p.m. May 19, authorities said.
He pulled out a gun and menaced the employees, cops said. Responding cops encountered Peterkin outside the store, where he allegedly shot at them. Two officers returned fire, but Peterkin took off and remains at large. It was unknown if he was hit by gunfire. The officers were not struck. Peterkin has five prior arrests for robbery, assault, criminal sale of a controlled substance, forgery and theft of service in the subway, police sources said. He is around 5 feet 11 and 200 pounds. Viewer discretion is advised.DAVIESS COUNTY, Mo. — A northwest Missouri man is grateful to be alive after surviving a violent attack in Clay County. He was trying to be a good Samaritan, stopping to help a stranded driver. FOX4 spoke exclusively with the victim about the horrifying ordeal and his frustrations with what’s happened since. It’s not uncommon for Jason Jones to stop and help a stranded driver on the side of the road. But the 72-year-old said he’ll probably never do it again after being beaten with an inch of his life along Interstate 35. Jones takes pride in training horses on his farm in rural Daviess County. But he’s a little less steady on his feet now after just coming home from 11 days in the hospital. “Is it luck or the good Lord watching over me? Great spirit was watching, I think,” Jones said. Jones was heading toward Kansas City, planning to stop off at a couple salvage yards when he saw a driver with a blown tire and pulled over. “He was kind of stand-offish, like kind of wish I hadn’t stopped, but I kept asking and they kept saying yes,” he said. Jones said 19-year-old Choyce Davis and a young woman with him hopped in his van. He took them to two salvage businesses looking for a spare tire. They ultimately loaded up and headed back to the couple’s car, parked near the Holt exit on I-35 in Clay County. “We got their tire, got back in the van and just barely started off. All the sudden something hit me on top of the head,” Jones said. The young woman allegedly grabbed a metal rod, bashing it into his skull. Jones tried to stop her as the van veered off the road. “I knew what was happening. We were going in the ditch. So I turned around, grabbed the draw pin, opened the door and dived out on my head,” he said. Jones said Davis grabbed his neck, choked him and started punching him in the face. “There was nothing I could do. I’m 72 years old. My energy was gone. There was nothing I could do but take it,” Jones said. A passerby called 911. The couple tried to get in the van and take off, but it was stuck in the mud. Deputies arrived fast, arresting Davis and the young woman. “In today’s world, nobody does that and that was my thing. I’ve always stopped to help people. They’ve always appreciated it — until now. Now at my age, maybe I’ll think twice next time before I do it again,” Jones said. Jones was rushed to the hospital with his face covered in blood, eyes black and blue. Doctors found a brain bleed and fractured skull and didn’t know if he’d survive. “I do feel blessed, yes,” Jones said. But he’s also angry after learning Davis, who is from Illinois, was granted bond. “He needed to stay there until he rotted away as far as I’m concerned,” Jones said. Davis is due back in court June 2. The female suspect is a juvenile but could ultimately be charged as an adult. CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake Police have brought criminal charges against a suspect in the case of a Chesapeake woman found dead after she went missing.
Raheem Lamont Cherry, 19, has been criminally charged with 1st-degree murder, robbery and abduction.
61-year-old Laura Miles, who had been reported missing the morning of May 17, was found dead later that day in the woods in the 400 block of Taylor Road, right behind a YMCA. She lived nearby in an Airbnb for about a month, but police said her car was found in a different location than usual, leading them to initially believe her disappearance was suspicious. Detectives labeled the investigation a homicide after they found noticeable signs of trauma on her body. They also said there was evidence in her vehicle and odd communication between her and known persons. According to police, Lamont Cherry is currently being held in the Chesapeake City Jail. (CNN)Two men were killed and eight other people were injured in a shooting early Saturday in downtown Minneapolis, police said.
Seven of the victims were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and one man was in critical condition, according to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD).
Jawan Contrail Carroll, 23, was arrested in Bloomington, Minnesota, on probable cause of murder and taken to the Hennepin County Jail, MPD spokesperson John Elder told CNN Saturday evening. Jail records did not list an attorney for Carroll, and he had not been formally charged as of Saturday evening. "He is the only suspect," Elder said. Elder said police believe the other shooter was one of the two men killed. A verbal confrontation likely led to the shooting, police said. Two people standing in a crowded area on North First Avenue argued, pulled out guns and began shooting at each other, police said. Officers working "evening bar close" at around 2 a.m. heard the gunshots and ran toward the gunfire, police said. They arrived at an "exceptionally chaotic scene" where two men had already died from their injuries. "These brazen senseless acts of gun violence must stop. The perpetrators of these crimes should never find refuge or anonymity in our communities," Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said in a written statement Saturday. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses, Elder said. Of the 10 adults shot, five were male and five female, according to police. The names of the victims as well as the nature and cause of death will be released by the medical examiner in the coming days, police said in a statement. One of the two people killed had been scheduled to graduate later that day from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, according to the school. Detectives investigating Youngstown mass shooting that left 3 dead, 3 wounded
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Police are investigating a mass shooting outside a bar on Youngtown’s lower west side where three people died and at least three more were wounded just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
There were dozens of casings in front of the Torch Club Bar & Grill at Salt Springs Road and Elberen Street as well as a parking lot two doors down, where a house was also struck by gunfire.
There was a four-car accident across the street from the bar that came after shots rang out. A couple of blocks east, at the corner of Salt Springs Road and Greenwood Street, there was a two-car accident where one person died and another person went to the hospital. Now, police are looking for as much help as they can get from the public. “I think more eyes, social media, cell phone video, anything that you can share is very helpful,” said Mayor Tito Brown. 
The city has now seen 12 homicides this year, as compared to 13 at this time last year. There have been 43 people shot and wounded this year, including all 12 homicide victims, as compared to 28 people shot at this time last year, which includes 12 of the 13 homicide victims.
For 2020, Youngstown recorded 98 gunshot victims, including 27 of 28 homicide victims. That was an increase of 40 over 2019, when 58 people were shot, including all 20 of that year’s homicide victims. SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – An arrest was made Friday in connection with a deadly hit-and-run collision near San Francisco’s City Hall on Tuesday night.
San Francisco Police announced Friday that 57-year-old Virgil Woods of San Francisco was arrested and booked into the Hall of Justice on multiple charges.
According to police, two pedestrians were walking at the intersection of Polk and Hayes Streets around 7 p.m. when they were struck by a Chevy Avalanche pickup, which struck an Audi A6 moments before. Police said a female pedestrian, identified as 29-year-old Lovisa Svallingson, died at the scene. The male pedestrian was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and remains in the hospital as of Friday. Two people inside the Audi were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police said the pickup driver fled the scene on foot. He also discarded articles of clothing and filed a false police report saying his truck had been stolen. Woods, who is the registered owner of the pickup, was arrested around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. At the time of his arrest, police said Woods was found in possession of several glass pipes used to ingest narcotics. (Black) Man charged with attempted murder in Atlantic City shooting already jailed in 2nd shooting, cops say
A 25-year-old man already in jail after being charged in a shooting last month has been charged with attempted murder in a March shooting in Atlantic City, authorities said.
Tyquan McClarin-Lamar shot a man once near the corner of New York and Magellan Avenues around midnight on March 22, Atlantic City police said Friday.
The man was treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police charged McClarin-Lamar with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault and weapons offenses. McClarin-Lamar has been locked up since May 3 after he shot a woman April 30 in the presence of three children, police said. That shooting took place on the 100 north block of North Carolina Avenue. He showed up at the home around 5 p.m., got into a fight with a man inside and drew a handgun, officials said. The shot he fired hit a woman. McClarin-Lamar and the other man ran away before police arrived. He turned himself in three days later and was sent to the Atlantic County jail after being charged with four counts of aggravated assault, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and weapons offenses. |

Attorney arguing against (black demon) Carr brothers appeal in Wichita black-on-White rapes and murders May 22—A Riley County deputy attorney on Monday will present oral arguments against a pair of brothers convicted for a murder, rape and robbery spree in Wichita in 2000. Jonathan and Reginald Carr will be back before the Kansas Supreme Court seeking to avoid the death penalty. David Lowden, who has been with Riley County since January 2000, previously served as an assistant Sedgwick County attorney and has been responsible for the appeals since the brothers' convictions in 2002. The brothers had been charged with four counts of capital murder, one count of first-degree murder and 13 counts of rape. The counts stemmed from multiple crimes including the Dec. 14, 2000 deaths of Jason Befort, 26; Brad Heyka, 27; Heather Muller, 25; and Aaron Sander, 29. The Carrs had forced the group to perform sexual acts with them and each other for hours before being taking them to ATMs to drain their bank accounts. They then took the group to a frozen soccer field, made them kneel and shot them all in the back of the head. Another unidentified woman was brutalized and shot during that incident, but a hair clip diverted the bullet, sparing her. She ran to a house for help and to report the murders. Police and prosecutors additionally linked the brothers to a carjacking and robbery of a 23-year-old man and the shooting death of Linda Walenta, all of which occurred earlier that same month. Monday's proceedings will consider 20 issues that had been brought up during the original appeal. The Kansas Supreme Court did not address them in 2014 because it had already decided on other grounds to overturn the Carrs' death sentences. The U.S. Supreme Court in 2016 later overturned the state court's decision, ruling that Kansas justices had improperly applied federal law in the case. Some of the issues on appeal include whether the brothers' Constitutional rights were violated when their penalty phases at trial were combined, as well as whether the trial judge correctly instructed the jury, among others. |

Detroit — Former Michigan State University basketball star Keith Appling is a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting Saturday evening on the city's west side, police said.
At about 7:10 p.m. in the 13200 block of Whitcomb, a 66-year-old man and the 29-year-old suspect got into a verbal altercation, which turned physical, police said in a statement. The suspect fired multiple gunshots at the victim, fatally wounding him, officials said. After the shooting, the suspect fled in a newer model tan Buick Regal. An investigation was immediately conducted, and the suspect was identified as Appling, who police described as approximately 6-foot-2, 200 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, according to the statement. Hours after police found the body of a missing Connecticut mother, her husband was arrested and charged in connection with her death.
Jessica Edwards, 30, was reported missing by her family on May 10, police said, a day after celebrating her first Mother's Day. Her family had "grave concern" for her well-being, the South Windsor Police Department said, as there continued to be no sign of her days into the investigation.
After a nearly two-week search, the South Windsor Police Department announced Friday evening that they had found her body earlier that day in the entrance to the Hockanum River Linear Park in East Hartford. There wasn't a person of interest at the time, Sgt. Mark Cleverdon said during a press briefing, though they expected to have another update later that night. A few hours later, the department announced they had arrested Edwards' husband, Tahj Hutchinson, 22, in connection with her death. He has been charged with first-degree manslaughter, though additional charges may be filed pending the autopsy results and completion of the investigation, police said. Police searched several cars and Edwards' South Windsor condo before their investigation led them to the park. Cleverdon said cellphone location data obtained through a search warrant brought them to the area where they found Edwards' body, though wouldn't confirm who that information was related to. COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) — Ricky L. Johnson, of Dallas, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of aggravated robbery.
It was in October of 2019 when Johnson walked into a pharmacy in Plano and asked for a prescription. While the pharmacist was distracted, Johnson pulled out a screwdriver, grabbed the pharmacist by the hair, put the tool to her neck, and demanded codeine.
The pharmacist eventually complied when Johnson threatened to kill her. Johnson, now 44, left the pharmacy with the a substantial amount of codeine and all of the cash from the register. Plano police located and arrested Johnson not far from the pharmacy. During the punishment phase of trial, prosecutors introduced evidence of Johnson’s prior convictions that included aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault family violence, possession with intent to deliver, and forgery. The prior convictions meant Johnson would receive a minimum punishment of 25 years. 2 (Black) Women Arrested For Robbery After Pepper Spraying Victim In Front Of Her 2 Children
ROCKWALL, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Two women wanted for robbing and pepper spraying a mother in front of her two children in a Lowe’s parking lot are behind bars.
With assistance from the Dallas Police Department, detectives with the Rockwall Police Department arrested Queshanique Finney, 19, and Demonica "Demon" Dawson, 19.
Both women were charged with robbery and are currently held at the Dallas County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Finney was also jailed on a warrant from another jurisdiction. CHICAGO — A 29-year-old man has been arrested and faces several felony charges in connection to a series of violent incidents in the Loop Thursday morning, according to police.
Torey M. Jones, of the 4200 block of West Kamerling Avenue, was arrested Thursday following a series of incidents in which he assaulted a 19-year-old woman with a rifle, pointed a gun and attempted to drag a 30-year-old woman from her car and pointed a gun at a Chicago police officer.
Jones faces one felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one felony count of aggravated assault of a peace officer, one felony count of attempted vehicular hijacking and two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon. Jones was arrested in the 0-100 block of East Lake Street just before 9:50 a.m. Thursday and is due in bond court on Saturday. MIAMI, Fla. – Police have arrested the man they believe followed a woman into an elevator in Brickell, then tried to rape after forcing his way in to her apartment, but when he appeared in court Friday, he told a judge he wanted to tell his side of the story.
Miami police arrested Diontae Blackman, 23, of Miami, in Northwest Miami-Dade on Thursday. On Friday, he appeared in front of judge to face multiple charges.
He told the judge that the victim is lying and that he did not attempt to sexually assault her. Police released surveillance video Wednesday showing the victim getting into the elevator with a man who is looking at his cellphone. The victim didn’t think twice about being on the elevator with a stranger, something she does every day, she told Local 10 News by telephone. It happened in the 1000 block of Southeast First Avenue on Tuesday around 6:50 p.m., according to police. The victim told police that the man, later identified as Blackman, followed her to her apartment after the two were in the same elevator. She said she had never seen him before. As she was opening the door to her apartment, she said Blackman pushed her inside and began to beat her. She told police that he struck her several times with a metal rod he had concealed in his shorts. The victim said that during the attack, he demanded oral sex and threatened to stab her in the neck if she didn’t comply. She asked Blackman numerous times to stop and he slapped her multiple times, she said. The victim said he then he demanded that she go to the bedroom and while in the bedroom, he ordered her to take of her shirt and attempted to force her onto the bed. She resisted and the two struggled, according to police. She was pushed to the ground, she said, and grabbed by the neck. At some point during the struggle, she told police, she was able to take hold of a metal bowl and that’s when the defendant left the bedroom. The woman said the ordeal went on for about 40 minutes. The victim, who spoke with Local 10 News via telephone as police were searching for the suspect, said that she locked the bedroom door after getting away from her attacker, then went out onto her balcony and screamed for help. Chicago cops issue no-confidence vote for BLACK LESBIAN Mayor Lori Lightfoot, citing 'slap in the face'
Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police issued a vote of no-confidence in Mayor Lori Lightfoot Wednesday, citing poor work conditions and the cancellation of a march for fallen officers due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The vote by the police union, as well as police Superintendent David Brown and First Deputy Eric Carter, was unanimous among as many as 200 active and retired rank-and-file officers, the Chicago Tribune reported. Reasons cited for the move reportedly include officer burnout and the department’s decision to cancel off days for cops on several occasions — as well as a move from 8 ½-hour shifts to 12-hour work periods in preparation for possible unrest in the city. The symbolic action also followed the second consecutive year that the Chicago Police Department canceled its annual St. Jude Memorial March for the city’s fallen cops while citing the COVID-19 pandemic. "The basis for this no-confidence vote is pretty simple, it’s two-fold," FOP President John Catanzara said in a video statement. HUGHES, Ark. (WREG) — A missing Arkansas woman was discovered dead inside a home and now authorities say her ex-boyfriend is a person of interest.
According to the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office, Robin Elizabeth Allmon, 42, had been missing for several days when she was discovered wrapped in a sheet under a mattress at Maurice Winda’s home on Tucker Street in Hughes, Arkansas.
She appeared to have been dead for some time, but authorities were able to identify her through tattoos and a family member. An autopsy will determine the cause of death. Authorities are now searching for Winda, the ex-boyfriend, who they consider to be a person of interest in the case. They said the man had worked for the city of Hughes in the Sanitation Department. “The last known person for her to be with was her ex-boyfriend, and he had been abusing her and assaulting her,” said Nancy Allman, the daughter of Robin Allmon. Allmon says her mom, Robin Elizabeth Allmon, was beaten on more than one occasion by her ex-boyfriend, Maurice Winda. “He blacked her eye. Her eye was black, like over, she ended up going to the hospital. She had a fractured eye socket,” Allman said. St. Francis County deputies entered the house after getting a call from the Hughes Police Department. “Wrapped in a bed sheet with a mattress laying on top of the body, and there was no one at home,” said Bobby May, the Sheriff of the St. Francis County Sheriff’s office. May says Allmon may have been dead for several days, and deputies are anxious to talk with Maurice Winda. Allmon’s daughter is frustrated and says she helped her mom file charges against Winda. “I sent pictures over, dates, threatening text messages where he had texted my mom. You know, crazy things,” Allman said. Allman said Winda, who works for the Hughes Sanitation Department, failed to appear in court on assault charges and is certain her mom was taken against her will to Winda’s house, where she was found dead. “In my eyes, in my heart, nothing will make me believe my mom was willingly going in that house on her own. 3 (Black) suspects indicted in drug deal turned fatal shootout in Arlington
ARLINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - A drug deal turned fatal shootout has led to the indictment of three men on felony charges, according to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
Delmarc Hollingsworth II, 27, of Trenton, and brothers Anterion Springfield, 18, and Montre Jeter, 20, both of Brownsville were indicted on counts of second-degree murder, reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance. The DA’s office says Hollingsworth was also indicted on felony counts of convicted felon in possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence. The incident happened on Dec. 7 in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Highway 70 in Arlington. The DA’s office says the trio was set to buy marijuana from two other people but the transaction didn’t go well. Investigators say an altercation began when the trio tried to pay for the drugs in counterfeit money. Gunfire erupted, killing a 19-year-old and injuring three others, according to the investigation. The DA’s office says Hollingsworth drove away and dropped off Springfield and Jeter at a hospital in Covington where they were treated for gunshot wounds. A woman accused of killing her boyfriend, a(n unknown 'aspiring') San Antonio rapper and Beyoncé’s cousin, has been indicted on a murder charge.
Sasha Skare, 21, allegedly shot and killed Martell “Kardone” Derouen on Jan. 22, according to her indictment. Derouen was 34 years old. Police got a call on Jan. 28 that Derouen had not been heard from in several days. Officers went to The Towers apartments at 16735 La Cantera Parkway around noon where they found Derouen dead in his apartment with a gunshot wound. Derouen’s estranged wife at one point told police he had been at living with Skare, his new girlfriend, an affidavit said. A witness heard Skare and Derouen arguing until he told her to get out and the apartment door slammed shut, the affidavit said. The witness then heard Skare pounding on the door, followed by a gunshot. Skare, who was arrested Feb. 6, remains in Bexar County Jail with bail set at $125,000. 2 (Black) Men Face Murder Charges In Somerset Stabbing
SOMERSET, NJ — Two Somerset men are facing murder charges in connection with a homicide where police say a Somerset man was stabbed numerous times around midnight on Tuesday.
Nasir J. Williams aka "Duck", 20, of Royal Court, Somerset, and Ishadir S. Hunter aka "Ice", 22 of Pickering Place, Somerset were both charged with first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, first-degree armed robbery and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Hunter was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. Both were taken to Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing. Just after midnight on Tuesday, a 911 call reported a man in distress following a fight at a home on Holland Drive in the Somerset section of Franklin, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson Police found an unresponsive man inside of the home, who authorities have identified as Jamari R. Stephenson, 23, of Holland Drive. Stephenson had been stabbed numerous times and emergency and police responders began life-saving measures, said Robertson. Efforts to revive Stephenson were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene, said Robertson. Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and A post-mortem examination performed by the medical examiner's office ruled Stephenson's death a homicide. An Escambia County woman has been sentenced for a fatal DUI crash in January 2020.
Ava Nicole Stoudemire was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Lee Robinson to 15 years in state prison under a plea agreement under which she admitted to DUI manslaughter, DUI causing serious bodily injury, DUI causing injury and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Stoudemire attempted to make a turn onto Marcus Point Boulevard from W Street. Her Toyota van was traveling too fast to negotiate the turn, causing her to lose control and collide with a semi-truck and a box truck. Stoudemire’s backseat passenger, Tyrone Deonta Wilkins, Jr., passed away as a result of the crash. Her front seat passenger, Gregory Joseph Matthews of Century, was seriously injured. The driver of an oncoming truck was also injured. Stoudemire’s blood alcohol level was .221, well above the legal level of .08 at the time of the crash. Shocking new video shows the moment a gunman opens fire in an unlicensed Bronx bar — killing a man during a squabble over the bathroom, cops said.
The fatal encounter happened just before 4 a.m. May 9 inside a crowded nightclub at 4555 3rd Ave. in Belmont, according to cops.
The two men were waiting to use the bathroom when the 30-year-old victim, identified by cops as Shamar Watt, let two women cut in line for the single unisex bathroom. After the women come out, the two argue who’s next, cops said. Moments later, the gunman walks up to Watt on the dance floor and fires twice at “near-point-blank range,” striking him in the head, according to police. Century man has been sentenced to life in prison for grabbing a 16-year old girl she walked to the library in Century and raping her.
Thursday, Escambia County Circuit Court Judge Jennie Kinsey sentenced Na’Keetric Devonte Davison to life imprisonment as a habitual felony offender. He was also designated as a sexual predator. In March, he was convicted of kidnapping, sexual battery using threats of force or violence, attempted sexual battery, trespassing and criminal mischief. On August 21, 2019, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 29 and McCurdy Street Wednesday where a teen female exiting the wood line told deputies she had been raped by a man that fled the area on foot. A passerby called 911 to report a disturbance after seeing a man pull the teen into wooded area. The motorist’s intervention allowed the teenage victim to escape from Davison. The 16-year old female was obviously hysterical, standing with her jeans unzipped and her hair in disarray. She told deputies she was walking south on the sidewalk to the Century Branch Library when she was approached from behind by a a man that asked her for some change. She stated the man, later identified as Davison, grabbed her and pulled her into a wooded area adjacent to the sidewalk. Davison then grabbed her by the throat, slammed her to the ground and told her not to scream or he would kill her, the report states. The teen told deputies that Davison then sexually assaulted her before telling her again that he would kill her if she screamed out. He then took her wallet from inside her purse and fled on foot into the woods. The teen was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. A perimeter was established, and Davison was tracked by deputies and K-9 units from the Escambia County Road Prison and the Century Correctional Institution. He had kicked in the door of the building in order to gain entry, according to an arrest report, and consumed several bottles of water and a bag of chips. (Black) Memphis Lyft driver, who is also a police officer, charged with kidnapping and raping passenger
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Lyft driver and off duty police officer is behind bars after a passenger said he raped her.
Travis Pride was arrested Wednesday and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Rape.
According to a police affidavit, the victim requested a ride with Lyft from Parkway Village to her home near Raleigh. She told officers, the Lyft driver took her to an apartment on Ridgebrook Lane north of Shelby Farms where he sexually assaulted her before taking her home. The woman called police to report what had happened and was able to identify Pride in a photo line-up. Pride was arrested after a warrant was obtained for his home and for his DNA. The vehicle registered to Pride also matched the description of the vehicle the woman said he picked her up in. Records show the off duty MPD officer was hired in 2018. He was certified as a police officer in 2019. Travis Pride is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $150,000 bond. He was relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police in Upper Merion believe a suspect wanted for at least three rapes and several stalking incidents in Philadelphia also attempted to abduct a woman at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say the woman was working out in the hotel gym when she was approached by the suspect, who pulled out a gun and demanded she leave with him.
She tried to run for the door but was struck in the head with the gun. She was able to run to the lobby as the suspect escaped. Upper Merion officials say the man was driving a gray Dodge Charger with no license plate — the same description of the vehicle connected to the incidents in Philadelphia. Philadelphia police want to get him off the streets after they say he raped and robbed at least three women and attempted to attack at least three more. Philadelphia police say the victims all shared the same kind of employment — at gentlemen’s clubs. Police say they are often followed home from work. Many of these women shared the experiences through online forums, which police say helped them link all of these cases together. The stories of at least six women who have been targeted in Philadelphia since Sunday start like this. “She realized she was being followed home,” Philadelphia Police Capt. Mark Burgmann said. Former MLB pitcher Felipe Vazquez was found guilty of sexual assault charges from having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 2017, reports said Thursday.
A Westmoreland County, Penn. jury found the two-time Pittsburgh Pirates all-star guilty on 10 counts, including statutory sexual assault, sexual abuse of children and indecent assault of a minor under 16, according to Wink News.
But the jury found him not guilty on 10 charges of unlawful contact or communication with the girl, the outlet reported. The jury asked the judge to see pictures and video of the girl during deliberations, according to Wink. The victim, now 17 and a Florida resident, was in the courtroom at the time of the verdict, WPXI 11 said. She had testified that she and Vasquez had sex in his car outside her home hours before an afternoon Pirates game, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. Vazquez, arrested in September 2019, had maintained that at the time they had sex he thought the girl was 17, which is the age of consent. The former major leaguer and the girl had struck up a relationship on social media, with their communications growing increasingly explicit. Houston doctor trying to figure out why some COVID-19 patients develop massively enlarged tongues 
HOUSTON — Doctors in Houston are trying to figure out why a handful of people hospitalized with COVID-19 develop massively enlarged tongues.
The condition is called macroglossia. It makes it impossible for patients to eat and talk. Dr. James Melville with the UTHealth School of Dentistry has become a specialist in dealing with the condition. He has performed surgeries to help patients regain use of their tongues. When KHOU 11 first reported on the condition last fall, Dr. Melville said there were only two documented cases in the United States. Since then, he has heard about seven more patients. Out of the nine cases, all had been intubated in a hospital. Eight out of the nine are Black. Two had suffered strokes and the other seven were hospitalized with COVID-19 prior to developing macroglossia. Melville says the patients who had survived COVID-19 had inflammatory cells in their tongue tissue, which means there’s something about the virus that is making certain people more prone to the rare condition. “I think it has a lot to do with where the virus is attaching itself and the body’s immune response to it,” said Dr. Melville. He is now doing a study to figure out if there’s a common link in those patients’ genes. If doctors can answer that question, they hope they can also figure out how to prevent it. Police in Georgia are hunting for a woman who dished out a brutal beatdown on a mother — right in front of her infant daughter.
Sickening witness video captured in a Little Caesars restaurant on Monday shows the suspect holding the woman on the floor by the hair with one fist, while repeatedly punching her in the head with the other. Most distressingly of all the victim's infant daughter rushes into the fracas trying to protect her mother, but a bystander pulls her out of the way just in time, while the filmer shouts "Move the baby! Move the baby!" No such help comes for the victim though; despite her screams of terror, everyone in the store stands around either watching or filming. One man even holds the door open for them as the assailant drags the mother by her hair into the street. She continues to throw her around by her hair, stamping her head into the concrete, before finally walking away, leaving her a bloody mess on the ground. Stumbling to her feet, the victim's first concern is for the daughter who witnessed the whole attack, and was very nearly dragged into it. "My baby!" she cries as she runs back into the restaurant looking for her, blood streaming from her nose. According to an incident report, the woman being assaulted in the video is 22-year-old Emily Broadwater; the suspect is 25-year-old Brittany Kennedy, who is now wanted for battery. The Deputy's report indicates Broadwater was sitting in the lobby when Kennedy walked in and confronted her, shortly after 4 PM. After a few seconds talking to her, she pulled the chair from underneath her, causing her to fall to the ground, which is when the brutal beatdown began. "I observed that the victim had a swollen and black left eye," the Deputy wrote, per Augusta Crime. "Her bottom lip had a large laceration on the inside and was severely swollen. She had a large knot on her forehead, and multiple cuts on her head, face, and neck. She did not lose consciousness." A New Jersey man released from state prison early due to the coronavirus pandemic has been charged with killing two people during a shooting at a birthday party in Edgewater Park in January, authorities said.
Ronny L. Paden , 27, of Delran gunned down the two men on the 200 block of Dogwood Road shortly before 1 a.m. on January 24, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday. James Gist III, 29, of Westampton was shot in the driver’s seat of a parked car while Marcus Thompson, 29, of Willingboro was in the house. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was the intended target at the 10-person gathering, according to investigators. Paden was released from state prison on November 4, 2020 under a law written to stop the spread of the COVID among state inmates. No new trial for (Black) man who murdered Jersey City senior trying to halt robbery
A Newark man who fatally shot a Jersey City senior coming to the aid of his wife will not be getting a new trial.
An appellate court panel rejected a bid for a new trial by Joshua Higgins, who pleaded guilty to gunning down 63-year-old George Smith on Danforth Avenue in Jersey City in 2014. Higgins was sentenced to 40 years in prison, 30 for the fatal shooting and 10 years for an unrelated carjacking in Bayonne in 2013.
Smith and his wife had just returned home when Higgins and two others grabbed his wife’s purse. When Smith tried to get the purse back, Higgins shot him twice. At sentencing, a tearful Higgins said “I’m sorry for what happened ... Nobody was supposed to be hurt. Things just happened so fast... I was startled and it was dark and I didn’t expect Mr. Smith to run after me.” The 26-year-old Higgins’ earlier motion with the trial court for post-conviction relief — claiming that his attorney “failed to review the discovery with him, failed to prepare for trial and improperly pressured him into pleading guilty by failing to investigate and support his alibi” — was denied. The trial court judge said Higgins offered no evidence to support these claims, and in fact, his attorney did investigate his alibi and that Higgins was not pressured into a guilty plea. Higgins’ appeal said the court erred in denying his claim his counsel pressured him into pleading guilty without holding an evidentiary hearing. That argument was rejected by the appellate panel. Higgins, who is incarcerated at New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, is eligible for parole in 2048 under the No Early Release Act. |

OKLAHOMA CITY - A metro mother and her 2-year-old child were attacked in a parking lot, according to authorities.
Oklahoma City police said the attack was unprovoked.
Police said they were originally called to the scene for an unrelated disturbance.
Friday morning, police were called to an apartment complex on Rockwell near Northwest Expressway. A caller told dispatchers a woman was destroying her apartment and threatening to kill her. According to the police report, the suspect left the apartment, only to attack a stranger in the parking lot. “For whatever reason, the woman causing the disturbance turned, ran over to where the woman and the child were, and attacked them,” said MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department. The police report also said the mother “began to scream for help but also had to fight back against the attack.” “She ended up taking the 2-year-old child and pinning it to the ground holding it buy its throat,” said Knight. The child sustained scratches to his face and “bruising on his forehead which appeared to be in the shape of the imprint of fingers.” The mother had a small scrape from being pushed to the ground. “The mother was able to get the woman off of the child. It is unclear what made her turn on these two people, but she clearly did there were witnesses out there who corroborated that story and the injuries on the child corroborated the story,” said Knight. Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are in search of a person suspected of an assault with a deadly weapon that left a homeless woman in critical condition.

Valdes, the Monday arrest of Juan “Milton” Cordero Rivera took place after an investigation launched when a 14-year-old child was brought to St. Joseph’s Hospital by the child’s mother because the victim disclosed being sexually assaulted by the suspect in the past. During the investigation the mother reported that she also had been sexually assaulted by Cordero-Rivera as a child. Both assaults occurred in different residences in Paterson. Police are probing two Muslim attacks in L.A. on men thought to be Jewish
Authorities are investigating whether an attack on diners thought to be Jewish outside a restaurant in Los Angeles late Tuesday night was a hate crime, CBS Los Angeles reports.
Police are also probing an incident caught on security video the night before in which an Orthodox Jewish man is seen being chased through a parking lot by a caravan of people waving Palestinian flags. He escaped unharmed.
The incidents came as the Israeli-Hamas conflict continued unabated. The man from the parking lot told CBS L.A. they were chanting "Allahu Akbar" (Arabic for 'all will convert to Islam, pay infidel tax or be beheaded'). "I started running for my life. I thought, 'This was it,' he said. The station says he was too afraid to show his face on camera or give his name. Witnesses said a mob of pro-Palestinians attacked a group of men they believed to be Jewish who were dining on the sidewalk outside. Cell phone video showed a group of men getting out of a car and starting to attack them while yelling anti-Semitic slurs. One of the diners, who isn't Jewish, told CBS L.A. a caravan waving pro-Palestinian flags approached and began throwing bottles at him and the group he was dining with. The man said he's a photographer and the group was meeting at the restaurant to plan a wedding. "I was speaking to one guy, 'Relax, why are they doing that?'" the man said. "Just protest peacefully." Five Oregon Counties Vote For Becoming a Part of Idaho TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —On May 18 the grassroots organization Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho was successful in galvanizing rural voters from five counties in eastern Oregon to vote in favor of becoming part of Idaho. Sherman, Lake, Grant, Baker, and Malheur counties voted in favor of the measure, and the average turnout was 43%, much higher than the statewide average of 25% for this election. The average per county vote in favor was 62%. The goal of the initiative is for Idaho to absorb about three-quarters of Oregon, but it would only be a small portion of the state’s population. Roughly 800,000 of the state’s 4.2 million residents live in rural counties The organizers and supporters of Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho feel the conservative rural residents are being dominated by the liberal urban centers in the Northwest part of the state. The group has a six-part process for making the proposal into a reality. The moves include everything from rural Oregonians collecting signatures to put a question on the ballot, to convincing the state legislatures to make a compact with the other state and pass it. The final part would be getting Congress to approve it. The ballot measures are intended to put pressure on the state legislatures of Oregon and Idaho to negotiate an interstate compact to relocate their common border... EVERETT, Wash. — A jury has found an Everett man guilty of stomping a woman to death after paying her for sex two years ago.
The Daily Herald reported Wednesday that 31-year-old Jamel Alexander was convicted on Tuesday of first-degree murder in the killing of 29-year-old Shawna Brune following a three-week trial. Prosecutors said Alexander beat and stomped Brune near a parking lot in the 11600 block of State Route 99 in Everett in October 2019 after paying her $100 for sex. According to court documents, the victim was shoved into some thorny underbrush that tore her skin and ripped off her clothing. She had been stomped so violently in the head, face and abdomen that the distinctive shoe tread of her killer was embedded in her skin, causing her intense pain and suffering before her death. Her naked body was found the next day by a passer-by who was out walking his dog. Alexander was arrested a few days later after he was captured on surveillance video near the crime scene on the night of the murder and his blood-spattered knit hat was found at the scene, court records show. Security video from a nearby apartment building also showed him examining apparent blood on his shoes after the killing. During questioning, the suspect admitted to police that he met with the victim for sex and that the knit hat was his. But he denied killing her, claiming that she was alive and well when he left her, according to the court file. He also said the apparent blood on his shoes was "energy drink." His attorneys argued that the detectives handled the case unfairly because Alexander is Black. But prosecutors argued the evidence simply pointed to Alexander. Judge George Appel scheduled a sentencing hearing for Friday. Second (Black) suspect arrested in shooting that killed 2, injured 2 on Telfair Street
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left two women dead and two injured at the Magnolia Court Apartments off East Telfair Street.
Julian Floyd Mayes, 21, of Augusta, was arrested Tuesday, according to Richmond County jail booking records. He’s being held on two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during a crime. Tyler Prather, 21, was arrested soon after Thursday evening’s shooting at an apartment complex on East Telfair Street. Authorities had told News 12 they were looking for a “second subject” in connection with the shooting incident. That person is Mayes, authorities confirmed Wednesday morning. A report released Monday morning by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office gives details on the shooting. It says that at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies were dispatched to an apartment at 201 E. Telfair St., where they found Tishaa Moulton and Taliha Turner inside apartment with at least one apparent gunshot wound each and Moulton unresponsive. Texas executes (Black) Quintin Jones, inmate who killed his great aunt in 1999
HUNTSVILLE, Texas — A Texas inmate has been executed for beating his 83-year-old great aunt to death nearly 22 years ago.
Quintin Jones received a lethal injection Wednesday evening at the state penitentiary in Huntsville for killing Berthena Bryant in 1999.
Some of Bryant’s relatives, including her sister Mattie Long, had asked that Jones be spared. Prosecutors say Jones beat Bryant with a bat in her Fort Worth home after she refused to lend him money, and he took $30 from her purse to buy drugs. Jones said he had changed since he killed his great aunt and had expressed remorse and sought redemption. It was the first execution in Texas since July 8. AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Charges have been filed against inmates allegedly involved in a fight that injured a murder suspect this week in Richmond County jail, authorities said Thursday.
The fight broke out around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office’s Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
During the fight involving multiple inmates assigned to the same housing unit, Lavelton Philpot, 20, stabbed Dashawn Curtis, 25, multiple times, according to deputies. Curtis was taken to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries that required stitches. Curtis was discharged and returned to the jail Wednesday morning. The fight was contained to one housing unit and no other injuries were reported. Authorities said Thursday that the charge of aggravated assault had been added for: Philpot, who was arrested and booked into jail on May 21, 2018, on suspicion of aggravated assault and armed robbery. Devontae Jamel Sims, 21, who was incarcerated on April 16, 2019, on a charge of armed robbery. Cosby Murry, 22, who was jailed on June 25, 2020, on a charge of armed robbery. Carlos Danyale Mack, 20, who was incarcerated on Jan. 23, 2020 on a charge of murder in connection with the Jan. 12, 2020, slaying of Deivante McFadden, 21. Sherrod Tyrian Boyd, 18, who was jailed on Sept. 14, 2020, on a charge of aggravated assault. Cops have arrested a man who was allegedly caught on video threatening a subway conductor in Queens — after the worker says he ran for his life from the blade-wielding fiend and locked himself inside a token booth.
Cops booked Tahjsmier Taylor on Tuesday on charges of second degree menacing and second degree harassment, according to NYPD.

(Black) Suspect in Iowa girl's murder had been paroled weeks earlier
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa granted an early release from prison to a repeat offender just months before he allegedly kidnapped and killed a 10-year-old girl, according to parole documents released Tuesday.
The Iowa Board of Parole granted Henry Dinkins parole from a Davenport minimum-security residential facility in March 2020, determining he was “able and willing to fulfill the obligations of a law abiding citizen.”
“There is a reasonable probability that you can be released without detriment to the community or yourself," according to the parole order signed by the board's chair, Helen Miller, that The Associated Press obtained under the open records law. Less than four months after his parole, Dinkins, a with a history of violent and reckless behavior, allegedly kidnapped Breasia Terrell from a Davenport apartment complex, shot her to death and hid her body in rural eastern Iowa. At the time he was granted parole, Dinkins, 48, was awaiting trial on felony charges in Illinois of possession of methamphetamine and amphetamine with intent to deliver stemming from an April 2019 traffic stop. It’s unclear whether Iowa authorities took that into consideration. Breasia was the half sister of Dinkins’ son, and investigators say both children were staying the night with him at an apartment where he was living with a girlfriend. The girl's July disappearance prompted a monthslong search that ended in March when two people fishing near DeWitt discovered her remains in a pond. Dinkins is charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping, each of which carry a possible life term. A public defender representing him didn’t immediately return a phone message seeking comment. Dinkins is set to be arraigned next month. |
(Black) Georgia Man Charged With Murder After Body Found Under Mattress At Illegal Dump Site
A Georgia man has been arrested and charged with murder after law enforcement linked him to the remains of a man found under a mattress at an illegal dump site.
On May 7, a passerby was walking through Bibb County when they “discovered a body under a mattress” in an area filled with debris from illegal dumping, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Monday statement. The Macon Telegraph described the dump site as a roadside area in Unionville.
The victim found at the site has been identified as Amond Rashad Norwood, 26, of Macon. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by a coroner. Investigators followed leads and determined that Norwood was likely murdered at a different location before being discarded at the area. On Friday night, investigators questioned 45-year-old Margaton Achilles Dudley about Norwood. The conversation led to his arrest. Dudley has been charged with murder and concealing the death of another. He is being held without bond following a first-appearance hearing in court on Monday, according to the Telegraph. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer. It’s unclear how the two men knew one another, if they did at all. Investigators have not detailed what evidence led them to Dudley. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has not immediately returned Oxygen.com’s request for comment. Norwood’s older brother Rashad Norwood posted multiple tributes on Facebook to his slain brother, stating “love you lil bro you will NEva b forgotten I promise ya dat.” Other loved ones called him a “wonderful person” and a “true friend” in his obituary’s guest book. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jailed in connection to a fatal shooting at a Louisville nightclub, the DJ for rapper Jack Harlow has won his fight for a lower bond.
Jefferson Circuit Judge Ann Bailey Smith on Tuesday lowered Ronnie Tyshon O'Bannon's bond from $500,000 to $50,000, according to court documents. A spokesperson with Louisville Metro Corrections told WDRB News on Tuesday that O'Bannon's bond had been posted and that he will be placed on home incarceration when he is released.
As a condition of his bond, Bailey Smith said O'Bannon "shall not reside in a home where there are any firearms" and cannot have contact with the family of the woman he allegedly killed, court documents say. O'Bannon, who also goes by Ronnie Lucciano, turned himself in to police May 11 after he was indicted on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection to the fatal shooting of Kasmira Nash in the early hours of May 1 at Vibes Restaurant and Ultra Lounge. Nash, a 37-year-old mother of two, was working at Vibes' "Derby Weekend Kickoff Party" when the shooting occurred, her mother told WDRB News. She died at the scene, according to a statement from Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley. In arguing for O'Bannon's bond to be reduced, defense attorney Steve Romines told a judge "there is no dispute" O'Bannon was attacked with a champagne bottle by Nash and that he did not respond, as both sides were broken up. However, Romines said O'Bannon "defended himself" when Nash allegedly again attacked. Prosecutors argued O'Bannon is a flight risk and has admitted to shooting a handgun in a crowded nightclub, killing Nash. "He is a clear danger to this community and his behavior is unpredictable," the prosecution wrote in a court filing. |
(Black) Louisville man charged with attempted murder after machete attack
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested after police said he attacked a man with a machete, causing severe injuries all over his body.
According to court documents, the incident took place on Tuesday, April 20, in Jefferson County. A more precise address was not provided.
Police say 29-year-old Mark Brewer's girlfriend had recently broken up with him and was staying at the home of one of her friends. The victim of the attack was one of Brewer's friends, who went to check on the woman and see if she needed a ride to work. As that man was leaving the home and walking to his car, police said Brewer, who had been watching him, snuck up behind him and swung a machete at his head. According to police, the victim was able to duck, "narrowly avoiding a lethal injury to his head." Brewer continued to attack, however, hitting the man in the head, neck, shoulder, hand and on other parts of his body, according to court documents. The two men struggled, and Brewer eventually ran away with the weapon. The victim was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with several serious injuries, including a "severe and very deep" cut to his shoulder that required 18 stitches, according to court documents. He also required several stitches to his head and neck. A warrant was issued for Brewer's arrest, and he was taken into custody Friday evening by the Shively Police Department. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Shepherdsville man who Louisville Metro Police said exchanged gunfire with officers during a foot chase Friday afternoon in the California neighborhood has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder of a police officer — among other charges.
Mark Calloway, 23, was in a car LMPD officers tried to pull over Friday afternoon near 22nd Street and Garland Avenue after confirming it had been stolen, according to Calloway's arrest report. Police said the people in the car "attempted to evade officers" before crashing the vehicle. LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said two people got out of the car and ran. In Calloway's arrest report, he is identified as jumping out of the front passenger door of the crashed car "armed with a handgun." Officers began chasing Calloway and the other person on foot when Calloway allegedly "turned and pointed a weapon at officer ... (and) fired" twice while running east on Garland Avenue across Dixie Highway, his arrest report says. No officers were shot, according to LMPD. "Due to the suspects actions, a responding officer returned fire at the subject, but did not strike him," Calloway's arrest report says. Calloway was arrested "shortly after" the exchange of gunfire, and police said he was "armed with a stolen handgun loaded with hollow point ammunition." |

A former correctional officer with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has been sentenced to almost six years in prison after he pleaded guilty to using excessive force.
Cody Richardson, 31, was sentenced to five years, 10 months in prison. He pleaded guilty almost a year ago to three felony counts of using excessive force against pretrial detainees housed at the correctional facility in Alexandria where he worked. According to court documents and statements made during the hearing, Richardson, while on duty as a correctional officer in 2018, tased three different detainees who were restrained and/or not resisting. One man was tased in January 2018 when his hands were up; the man fell to the ground and Richardson tased him three more times, even though he wasn't resisting. A month later, Richardson drive-stunned a detainee 15-20 while the man was shackled to a bench by his ankles. He then put handcuffs on the man's wrists, and continued to tase him. He also kicked the man in the gun [gut?]. A month after that, Richardson tased another man in his back. The man fell down, and Richardson sat on a table and tased him four more times, while the man thrashed and screamed in pain. “Citizens who are detained by law enforcement officers have a right to be treated with fairness and respect,” said Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Officials arrest 2 of 4 (Black) suspects wanted for carjacking Gina DeJesus at gunpoint, 8 other car thefts around Northeast Ohio 
CLEVELAND — On Tuesday, officials told 3News that they have arrested two of the four suspects wanted in connection to a recent string of carjackings in Northeast Ohio.
The two young men, both juveniles, have been arrested and officials are encouraging the other two suspects to turn themselves in immediately.
The first carjacking took place on April 28 in Cleveland, and the most recent took place early this past Sunday morning in Willoughby. In total, eight vehicles have been stolen, and multiple victims have either been assaulted or had guns pointed in their faces. Police have recovered four of the vehicles stolen, so far. HISPANIC Father, stepmother plead not guilty to murder of Emrik Osuna 
BOISE, Idaho — A Meridian couple accused of starving and abusing a 9-year-old boy until he died pleaded not guilty to killing him.
Erik and Monique Osuna are each charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 1, 2020 death of Emrik Osuna. Erik faces additional charges of destruction of evidence and infliction of great bodily injury. The defendants each denied the charges against them in a Monday morning hearing.
The Osunas were arrested last year after Emrik was found emaciated and not breathing on the floor of the apartment he shared with his stepmother and father. The child was rushed to a local hospital, but did not survive. Prosecutors say Monique Osuna beat her stepson, forced him to sleep in a closet, withheld food, and made him do repetitive exercises for hours each day . Erik Osuna was less involved in the physical abuse, prosecutors say, but refused to intervene to help his son. Much of the 9-year-old's torture was captured on nanny cameras inside the couple's apartment. The footage shows the boy being screamed at, subjected to extreme violence, and performing jumping jacks, wall sits, and "inchworms" for over 12 hours at a stretch, detectives say. Prosecutors have alleged that Erik attempted to get rid of the cameras before investigators arrived at the apartment, but they were ultimately recovered by detectives. Even after it became clear that Emrik was in serious need of medical help on Sept. 1, prosecutors say, both defendants waited for hours to call 911 or take the boy to the hospital. First-degree murder is punishable by up to life in prison or the death penalty. A trial in the case is set to begin Sept. 21. CHINESE Former Ohio State researcher sentenced to 37 months in prison after attempting to flee to China 
Former Ohio State University researcher Song Guo Zheng has been sentenced to 37 months in prison and ordered to pay $3.8 million in restitution after being arrested attempting to flee the U.S.
Zheng had been a professor of internal medicine at Ohio State University and Pennsylvania State University, leading teams in autoimmune research. According to DOJ, he had been participating in a Chinese government-sponsored “Thousand Talent” program since 2013, a fact he hid when applying for research funds from the National Institutes of Health. By keeping his work for the Chinese government secret, Zheng (pictured) was able to receive $4.1 million in research funding from the NIH – research the Justice Department claims went primarily to benefit China. Zheng also kept his affiliation with the Chinese government a secret from his American-based employers. Zheng was arrested in Anchorage, Alaska on May 22 of last year attempting to board a flight to China. According to the Department of Justice, he was carrying three large bags, one small suitcase and a briefcase containing two laptops, three cell phones, several USB drives, several silver bars, expired Chinese passports for his family, deeds for property in China and other items. “In yet another case involving the Chinese government’s Thousand Talents program, Song Guo Zheng will spend the next 37 months in a federal prison because he chose to lie and hide his involvement in this program from U.S. research funding agencies,” said Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s National Security Division John C. Demers in a statement following Zheng’s sentence. “American research funding is provided by the American taxpayer for the benefit of American society — not as an illicit gift to the Chinese government. A four-year-old boy was found stabbed to death on a Dallas street after he was allegedly abducted from his bed by a teen now facing charges for kidnapping.
A jogger came across the body of Cash Gernon in the city's Mountain Creek neighborhood at around 7am Saturday, Assistant Police Chief Albert Martinez said, adding that it appeared the child suffered a violent death from an 'edged weapon'. Darriynn Brown, 18, was arrested in the case hours later and was charged with kidnapping and theft. Police said they also anticipate additional charges pending the results of a forensic analysis. Cash was identified by a woman claiming to be his mother, who told WFAA that Brown had broken into her home through a back door early Saturday morning and snatched the 'happy-go-lucky' child while he was sleeping. The woman, who was not named and spoke to the outlet off-camera, claimed the boy was unknown to Brown and said she had no idea what led the man to target him. Dallas police issued an update on Monday afternoon which claimed that a woman named Monica Sherrod had been misidentified by the media as Cash's mom. It's unclear whether Sherrod is the woman who spoke to WFAA. 'Cash was left in the care of Ms. Sherrod by his father unbeknownst to his biological mother, Ms. Melinda Seagroves,' the release said. 'According to Ms. Sherrod, she has not been able to contact the father since his departure from her residence in March 2021.' The release further explained that Seagroves - the biological mother of Cash and his twin brother - 'has been conducting an extensive search for her sons for an extended amount of time'. Police said Cash's twin has since been reunited with Seagroves. The woman who identified herself as Cash's mother had told WFAA that the twin was in state custody. She said the kidnapping was captured on surveillance video and investigators reportedly asked neighbors for any additional footage that could help shed light on what happened. Antwainese Square, 39, told The Dallas Morning News she called police after seeing Cash's body on the 7500 block of Saddleridge Road just before 7am while she was out for a run. She said the boy's face and upper half of his body were covered in blood and that he didn't have shoes or a shirt. 'It breaks my heart,' Square told the newspaper. 'And now I'm afraid. Now I'm paranoid. Because I don't know what happened, I don't know what's going on. 'I mean just knowing that someone out there is capable of killing a child, that alone is just unsettling.' Martinez, the assistant police chief, said it's believed Cash was killed at about 5am and that he lived in the neighborhood where his body was found. The boy appeared to have suffered multiple stab wounds. 'We are shocked, we are very angry about what has happened to this small child,' Martinez said. Some residents told WFAA that Brown was regularly seen in the Mountain Creek area where Cash was killed. Court records showed he lived with his parents about a half-mile from the crime scene. Neighbor Jose Ramirez called the slaying 'hard to believe' and said: 'I don't think [Brown] was in his right mind.' By midafternoon Saturday, FBI agents were focusing on a wooded trail not far from where the body was found and police were on horseback in the area. The trail, which neighbors said is popular for biking, was sealed off with crime-scene tape. 'They were back in the alley, looking through trash containers to see if they could find any type of evidence,' Ramirez said. 'They went down the street, and they spent a good time down there.' Another neighbor, Katie Guillen, spoke to the outlet when she stopped by a makeshift memorial at the site where Cash's body was found to drop off flowers. 'It's just so sad that someone woke up this morning and lost their child without a warning,' Guillen said. 'How do you throw away someone's body like he's nothing? He's someone's kid.' Brown was being held Monday in Dallas County jail on $750,000 bond. It's unclear whether he has an attorney. NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. (CBS) — Delaware police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a mother of two young children, while she was working at a Metro PCS store on Saturday.
An updated photo of the suspect they believed gunned down the manager of the Metro PCS store on Kirkwood Highway in Elsmere was released Sunday afternoon.
A memorial, including candles and flowers, has been started for the victim. Neighbors tell CBS3 she has a little girl and boy at home who will now have to grow up without their mother. One neighbor says this was the 4th time the victim had been robbed at the store since she started working there back in 2012 — but this time it ended tragically. Below is the brand-new image released by police showing the man who reportedly walked into the cell phone store to rob it in broad daylight around 5:30 p.m. Eyewitnesses, who did not want to go on camera for safety reasons, tell us they saw a man walk out with a bag of cell phones and called 9-1-1. When police arrived they found a female victim — killed in what they say was an attempted robbery. The suspect was believed to have arrived in the area on a blue bicycle but drove off in the woman’s black 2008 Cadillac Escalade with the license plate PC194769. As news of what happened spread, neighbors on Sunday were emotional about the woman they had come to know as a friend, a person who always helped with technology questions and would stand outside to wave to Santa Claus at Christmas time when he came down Kirkwood Highway on a fire truck. 57-year sentence could be the first of several for (Black) Gary man charged in multiple homicides
CROWN POINT — Family members said Wednesday a Gary woman was shot four times in 2019 while protecting her son, but she still lost him when he was later shot and killed in a separate homicide.
William D. Galloway Jr., 28, of Gary, was sentenced Wednesday to 57.5 years for a shooting Sept. 18, 2019, at the home of 23-year-old Sean Baker in the 2500 block of Pierce Street in Gary.
A Lake Criminal Court jury found Galloway guilty in April of attempting to rob and murder Baker, shooting his mother and firing a gun through a window into a room occupied by Baker, his pregnant girlfriend and her then-6-year-old child. Galloway also was convicted of felony escape and criminal mischief for cutting off a GPS-equipped ankle monitor, which he had been ordered to wear while free on bond in a separate murder case. After the hearing, two of Baker's cousins said he would have been a good father but he never even got to hold his child. Baker's mother is still trying to recover, and the children who were in the home during the attack in 2019 remain terrified. The children continually ask adults to make sure the doors to their home are locked, a family member said. Wednesday's sentencing hearing was the first of what could be several for Galloway, who is still awaiting trial on three counts of murder filed in two additional cases. He already had been charged in the shooting death of Jonquell Golida, 23, at the time he attacked Baker's family. Galloway was on the run for more than a month after shooting Baker's mother and was captured in November 2019. In March 2020, he was charged in the double homicide of Zantrell Collins and Koreena Ramos, both 18, on Oct. 13, 2016, in the 700 block of East 49th Avenue in Gary. Galloway has pleaded not guilty to all three murders. If convicted, he could face 45 to 65 years on each count. He has not been charged in Baker's homicide Oct. 30, 2019, in Gary. Judge Diane Boswell previously found by a preponderance of the evidence that Galloway was connected to Baker's homicide and Baker's statements to police could be used at trial. |
Cops ticketing (Black) Brooklyn driver in no-standing zone discover he’s wanted for murder
Cops looking to give a ticket to a Brooklyn driver parked in a no-standing zone quickly realized he was wanted for the murder of an expectant dad, authorities said Monday,
Cops approached Tyquan Walden illegally parked vehicle Friday to issue him a summons. But when they ran his name they found that that in addition to having a suspended license he was wanted for allegedly shooting Conrad Waterton in the face in front of the victim’s family home in the Red Hook Houses in December. Walden, who lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant, was charged with murder and gun possession. He has ties to the Flamer Gang but it’s still not clear what sparked the shooting, sources said. He was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court. Walden has an arrest record, including for robbery and gun and drug possession, dating back to 2005, records show. He was paroled in 2017 after serving eight years for a Brooklyn weapons conviction. After Waterton was shot about 2:35 p.m. Dec. 14, medics rushed him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital but he could not be saved. Waterton had been sprung from prison just two months before his death after serving about three-and-a-half years for a 2017 conviction for robbery and assault. He was expecting a child and was scheduled to start work at FedEx the day after he was killed, family said. The job and child were a second chance his family hoped would "turn his life around". He had 19 arrests on his record. |

(Black) Georgia Man Charged With Murder After Body Found Under Mattress At Illegal Dump Site
A Georgia man has been arrested and charged with murder after law enforcement linked him to the remains of a man found under a mattress at an illegal dump site.
On May 7, a passerby was walking through Bibb County when they “discovered a body under a mattress” in an area filled with debris from illegal dumping, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Monday statement. The Macon Telegraph described the dump site as a roadside area in Unionville.
The victim found at the site has been identified as Amond Rashad Norwood, 26, of Macon. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by a coroner. Investigators followed leads and determined that Norwood was likely murdered at a different location before being discarded at the area. On Friday night, investigators questioned 45-year-old Margaton Achilles Dudley about Norwood. The conversation led to his arrest. Dudley has been charged with murder and concealing the death of another. He is being held without bond following a first-appearance hearing in court on Monday, according to the Telegraph. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer. It’s unclear how the two men knew one another, if they did at all. Investigators have not detailed what evidence led them to Dudley. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has not immediately returned Oxygen.com’s request for comment. Norwood’s older brother Rashad Norwood posted multiple tributes on Facebook to his slain brother, stating “love you lil bro you will NEva b forgotten I promise ya dat.” Other loved ones called him a “wonderful person” and a “true friend” in his obituary’s guest book. |
Four (Black female) Teens Arrested and Charged With Murder in Mysterious Valentine’s Day Shooting Death of Faith Burns
Four teenagers in Georgia have been arrested in connection with a murder investigation dating back to February.
According to jail records, Kennedy Collins, 17, and Jocelyn Spencer, 17, were both charged with felony murder and aggravated assault over the death of Faith Burns, 20, who was shot and killed near a home in Dacula, Ga. on Valentine’s Day.
Two 16-year-old girls whose names are not being released and who hail from Snellville, Ga. were also arrested in connection with Burns’s death. Collins and Spencer are both residents of Loganville, Ga., about 15 minutes away. A fifth suspect, Damia Mitchell, 17, turned herself into police two days after the slaying after being the original person of interest in the puzzling and alleged five-person homicide. Mitchell was charged at the time with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a minor, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. Jail records indicate she has subsequently been charged with four counts of participation in a criminal gang. |

A Bibb County jury of six men and six women deliberated for about two hours on Thursday afternoon before convicting a 20-year-old Macon man of murder in a 2018 shooting on the city’s southeast side.
Dequavious Jamal “D.J.” Howard Sr. was later sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Prosecutors said the Sept. 15, 2018, killing of 30-year-old Michael Antwan Chapman was the culmination of a feud over parking spaces at the Pendleton Homes housing project on Houston Avenue, where Chapman lived. The running argument was said to involve Chapman and the family of the mother of Howard’s son, who had clashed in the days prior to the killing. Accounts have varied, but the dispute apparently reached a boiling point after Chapman and Howard’s son’s mother exchanged heated words and, according to some versions, Chapman tried to spit on her and may have swung at her while she was holding the child. Investigators have said Chapman was later shot dead outside a friend’s house on Burke Street — several blocks south down Houston Avenue from Pendleton Homes — after Howard learned of the confrontation and sought to payback. As a prosecutor phrased it, Howard told Chapman, “You’re not gonna disrespect my baby’s mama,” in the seconds after shooting Chapman multiple times in the chest. Howard’s lawyer argued that Howard wasn’t the shooter, that Howard wasn’t there. But a handful of witnesses put Howard at the scene and one testified at length that Howard was the killer he had seen firing the fatal shots at Chapman. Though a couple of Howard’s acquaintances testified that he was at a cookout across town at the time of the shooting, a former girlfriend of Howard’s took the stand Wednesday and said she had dropped him off at the scene on Burke Street and driven away toward Rocky Creek Road moments before the killing. Prosecutor Sandra G. Matson, prior to Howard’s sentencing, asked the judge to sentence Howard to the maximum — life without parole. “He clearly is a danger to society,” she said, referring to an armed robbery charge that Howard still faces in another case. |
Police search for (Black) suspect in fatal shooting of 8-year-old Federal Way girl
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who may be connected to the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old Federal Way girl on April 25.
Andre Marcelle Jimerson, 35, is suspected of being inside the apartment and allegedly firing the fatal shot. Jimerson is a 6-foot-2, 230-pound Black man with last known addresses in Auburn and Kent.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Around 11:30 a.m. April 25, an 8-year-old girl arrived at St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound. The shooting occurred near the 27900 block of Pacific Highway South, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way police. At the time, Federal Way police believed the child’s father unintentionally shot her after a bullet traveled through three apartment walls when he was handling a gun. The 8-year-old girl has been identified as Royal’lee Wallace. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office determined she died on April 26 from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death has been ruled a homicide. On April 25, Federal Way police detectives developed probable cause to arrest the father on the afternoon of the shooting incident, based on the initial statement he provided about being alone in his apartment with his child when she was shot, Schwan said. Detectives discovered two other individuals were in the apartment with the father when the shooting occurred. (Black) Man who beat little Zymere Perkins to death gets 25 years to life in prison
A Harlem man convicted of the horrific murder of his girlfriend’s 6-year-old son was hit with the maximum prison term on Monday by a judge who rejected his claim in court that he “loved” the boy.
Rysheim Smith, 47, was sentenced to 25 years to life in the 2016 death of Zymere Perkins in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Smith was convicted of murder and manslaughter charges in the case in January after what Judge Ruth Pickholz described as a “long and difficult” trial that included horrific photos of the youngster’s injuries. “Despite how the prosecution has spoken about me, I loved Zymere Perkins,” Smith claimed in court. “I put emphasis on that.” “I do accept responsibility for him being in a toxic environment,” he said. “I don’t have the financial means to take him out of it, though I was starting to.” But the judge didn’t buy it. “This boy, this child, this 6-year-old innocent existed in a living hell,” Pickholz said in court. “He was tortured. He was starved. He was forced to stand at night and not lay down. Yes, his teachers tried.” “This child did not see any love at home,” she said. “He died a horrible death. The jury found that he died at the hands of Mr. Smith.” Smith was convicted of second-degree murder, manslaughter, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A 24-year-old Florida man with a lengthy criminal history has been arrested after he allegedly stole a truck, sword, laptop and other items from a home in St. Petersburg – but left behind his cellphone, according to reports.
Daemeion Grady was arrested last Tuesday and charged with armed burglary, carjacking, resisting arrest and possession of controlled substances, methamphetamine and crack cocaine with intent to sell. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office tracked him down through the phone full of photos and videos of the suspect. The Tampa Bay Times reported Sunday that the homeowner allegedly caught Grady in his kitchen on April 20 after the remote worker noticed his laptop missing. The police report said Grady allegedly had "the victim’s replica Samurai sword in one hand and the victim’s vehicle keys in the other hand." Grady allegedly "ordered him to pick up a clothes hamper filled with stolen items from the residence" and put them in the victim’s truck. Grady allegedly drove away in the truck with the homeowner’s belongings. Investigators allegedly found Grady’s fingerprints on the sword. Grady, whose previous arrest history includes charges of burglary, robbery and drugs, remained jailed on Monday pending a court hearing, according to the sheriff’s office. |

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in the trial for an undocumented immigrant charged with murdering 20-year-old Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts in 2018.
Fairness issues are expected to be a concern in the trial for Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a Mexican national (A CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIEN) who had been working as a farmhand in the rural Poweshiek County area for several years when he allegedly stabbed Tibbetts to death while she was out jogging in July, 2018 and hid her body. Hundreds of law enforcement officials were called in to scour the area over the course of five weeks before Rivera allegedly led investigators to her decomposing remains found buried beneath leaves in a cornfield on Aug. 21, 2018. Speaking ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, then-President Trump noted the arrest in the case that had made national news and called for immigration reform. "You heard about today with the illegal alien coming in, very sadly, from Mexico and you saw what happened to that incredible, beautiful young woman," Trump said at a rally in Charleston, West Virginia. "Should’ve never happened. Illegally in our country. We’ve had a huge impact, but the laws are so bad. The immigration laws are such a disgrace, we’re getting them changed, but we have to get more Republicans. We have to get ’em." Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, a Republican, also promised to bring justice to Tibbetts' killer, citing the "broken immigration system allowed a predator like this to live in our community." Nearly three years later, the now 26-year-old Rivera will participate in the trial through a Spanish-speaking interpreter as he faces a jury in a state that Trump carried in the 2020 election. Jury selection will begin at 10 a.m. at an events center in Davenport, Iowa, where lawyers for both sides will work to whittle a 175-person jury pool to 12 jurors and three alternates. The trial is scheduled to last two weeks. Jury selection is expected to take two days. PHOENIX -- An Arizona woman accused in the grisly slayings of her two children with a meat cleaver made her first court appearance Monday, where she denied harming them.

A statue of Mary holding baby Jesus was vandalized at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, the second such attack in the borough in three days, officials said Monday.
An employee of the diocese at 310 Prospect Park West first noticed the head of the baby Jesus was vandalized on Sunday, according to cops.
“There was a statue of Mary holding baby Jesus which had the head of Jesus knocked off,” an NYPD spokeswoman said. The crimes follow a series of vandalism incidents at Jewish institutions in the Riverdale section of the Bronx last month, where windows were broken and smashed. A man was arrested for the vandalism but was released by a judge. Then a Coney Island mosque was vandalized with the words “Death 2 Palestine” overnight Thursday — the final day of Ramadan, police said.
