Video reviewed by investigators allegedly showed Arius Williams launching little Montrell Williams into the air and throwing him into the river just before midnight May 10, the day he went missing, ADA Astrid Borgstedt said in Bronx Criminal Court on Thursday. Moments before the tot was tossed off the Bruckner Bridge, he appeared to be alive and standing upright in just a diaper, prosecutors said. “The video surveillance shows clearly Montrell Williams was in the defendant’s arms,” Borgstedt said — noting footage from after the incident showed Williams walking by himself. “He literally callously threw his 2-year-old child over the bridge that led to his death,” the prosecutor said. A Connecticut man was sentenced to 33 years in prison on Tuesday for the stray-bullet killing of a Puerto Rican Olympic athlete’s mother.
Jasper Greene, 23, of New Haven, was one of three men charged in the death of Mabel Martinez Antongiorgi on April 9, 2022. The 56-year-old woman was sewing in her home in Waterbury, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southwest of Hartford, when a bullet flew through a wall and hit her in the head. Martinez Antongiorgi’s daughter, Yarimar Mercado Martinez, competed for the family’s native Puerto Rico in rifle shooting at the Olympics in 2016, 2021 and 2024. She was in Brazil for another competition when her mother was killed. According to court testimony, the fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute that one of the suspects, Franklin Robinson, had with a man who said hello to his girlfriend. Robinson, Greene and another man shot up a car parked on Martinez Antongiorgi’s street, thinking the man was inside it. A bullet went into Martinez Antongiorgi’s home. Another bystander was wounded but survived. A jury convicted Robinson of murder and other charges in 2023 and he was later sentenced to 90 years in prison. "He drove over 12 hours to get from Akron to Minneapolis. He had to cut off his ankle monitor, so he knew he was doing something wrong." "It's very clear he knew exactly what he was doing," said Ryan's brother Kurt Peterson. The Peterson family has been told that after White pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree murder Monday, he most likely will be committed to the State Hospital in St. Peter rather than being sentenced to prison because of the results of three different mental evaluations. Judge Juan Hoyos will make the final determination after a hearing on Friday. The case has dragged on in the courts since the August 2022 crime. "At the state hospital, there is no minimum timeframe for which we know he will be there, so there's no security for us," Janet Peterson said. "Ryan's wife is feeling so unsafe that she has moved out of the country because of how this is going to go." Janet is especially upset that the evaluations of White's mental state when he committed the crime were not done until more than a year after the stabbing. The Petersons say they will always remember Ryan as a hilarious, loving, IT genius. "I think the best way to describe him is just incredibly supportive," Kurt Peterson said. But they also say the court case has only added more weight to their trauma. Hailey Hosford had stepped out of a rental car at the Retreat at Sawgrass Village in Sunrise, Fla., when she spotted an armed Jackson Sagesse begin to approach her just after 1:30 a.m. on May 28. Hosford, 27, attempted to escape by jumping back into the rear passenger side of the car, but the 280-pound thug allegedly ripped open the door, according to an arrest affidavit viewed by The Post. A physical altercation broke out between Hosford and Sagesse and the suspect was captured on security camera making a repeated stabbing motion into the vehicle, police said. Sagesse got out of the car and was confronted by Hosford’s male friend, who had returned from picking up some items from his apartment. Police found Hosford, who was unresponsive, inside the car. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and throat and was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m. Hosford’s friend suffered a puncture wound to the throat.
