A maniac pummeled a 73-year-old woman and pointed a gun at her during a terrifying robbery inside a Brooklyn tire shop Saturday, cops said — the latest in a recent string of attacks targeting elderly New Yorkers.
The robber snatched the unsuspecting woman’s phone while shoving her to the ground inside the JC Tires Shop near Rockaway Parkway and Avenue N around 8:40 am in Canarsie, according to the NYPD. The stranger then repeatedly kicked her and whipped out a firearm, aiming it at the woman while verbally threatening her. Her attacker — last seen wearing a green jacket, camouflage-colored pants, black hat and black facemask hanging off his chin — then took off, traveling southbound on Rockaway Parkway. |

The body of Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle, 59, a former professor of Large Animal Medicine at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, was discovered in a wooded area of Kiesel Park in Auburn, on Saturday afternoon. She had driven to the park with her dog in her red Ford F-150 pickup truck. The pup stuck by his owner’s body, and was found unharmed. Harold Rashad Dabney III, 28, from Montgomery, was arrested and charged with capital murder, Auburn outlet Open Line reported. Auburn’s vet school — and many of her former students and colleagues are mourning the animal lover — who specialized in livestock. “She was a force. She was only a little bit over 5-foot-2, not your typical large animal veterinarian,” Destinee Bearden Patterson told AL.com. “She was a force in this world, such a bright, bright light, just an all-around wonderful human being that is going to be missed terribly.” Dabney was arrested on Beehive Road just off I-85 after Auburn Police received a call reporting a suspicious person at the scene. “Officers in contact with Dabney made observations that led them to believe Dabney had involvement with the homicide that occurred the previous day,” police said, as reported by AL.com. The victim, 21-year-old University of Massachusetts Amherst student Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, an intern for Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kan., was fatally shot June 30 about a mile from the White House. Suspects Kelvin Thomas Jr., of Southeast DC, and Jailen Lucas, of Northwest DC, are pictured in mugshots obtained by FOX5 DC. The two were arrested Friday and charged as adults with premeditated first-degree murder while armed. Police are also searching for Naqwan Antonio Lucas, 18, of Granby, Massachusetts, who is wanted on a DC Superior Court warrant for premeditated first-degree murder while armed. Police said the suspects also injured a woman and a 16-year-old boy during the attack. In July, the House held a moment of silence for Tarpinian-Jachym. Rep. A quick-thinking group of friends in Maryland quickly identified a [black] suspected child abductor’s vehicle after receiving an Amber Alert, leading police directly to the car and helping safely recover the missing [colored] child.
The Prince George’s County Police Department issued an alert for 1-year-old Day-Rene Garris Collins around 2 p.m. Saturday, after she was reported missing from her home earlier that day in a white onesie, the department posted on X. The Amber Alert issued urged the public to watch for a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport SUV bearing Maryland license plate 8GK3445, being driven by her suspected abductor and relative, Shannon Collins.
