A woman was stabbed to death inside her Chinatown apartment early Sunday after her alleged killer followed her home — and her final moments were caught on chilling surveillance footage.
Video obtained by The Post shows the suspect tailing the 35-year-old victim on the street as she enters her Chrystie Street apartment building, following close behind as she opens the front door and strolls into the hallway. Minutes later, a neighbor across the hallway of the victim’s sixth-floor apartment at 111 Chrystie Street called 911 around 4:30 a.m. after hearing her screams during the brutal stabbing, law-enforcement sources said. “We’ve got cameras on every floor and in the front here,” the owner of the building said. “She got out of a cab right here and he followed her. He grabbed the front door just before it closed. He followed her all the way up, hanging back, staying one floor behind her all the way up to the sixth floor. “Then, he waited until her door was just about closed and he went in.” The victim, whose name is being withheld by The Post pending family notification, was found in her bathtub “bleeding from multiple wounds to the body,” according to a source and an NYPD spokesman. “So much blood,” the building’s owner said. “My wife said I should call someone to clean all the blood but I’m going to clean it up myself. It’s the least I can do for that poor girl.” Cops who responded to the 911 call allegedly found the suspect, identified by sources as Assamad 'A-hole' Nash, 25, inside the apartment and covered in blood. Nash allegedly tried to flee the grisly scene via the fire escape before barricading himself inside — prompting the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit to bust down the door, according to sources. Police in New York City are searching for a man accused of attacking a Duane Reade employee who confronted him for allegedly stealing items out of a freezer at the Manhattan convenience store.
NYPD Crime Stoppers shared images of the suspect wanted for a robbery that happened around 10:27 a.m. Friday inside the Duane Reade located on Broadway and West 111th Street in Morningside Heights. The New York City Police Department said the unknown man entered the store and removed items from a freezer. As he began to place them in his bag, he was approached by a 21-year-old female store employee, who asked him to place the items back, police said. The individual, described as a dark-skinned male approximately 40 years old, standing six feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, proceeded to strike the victim in the face with a closed fist before grabbing her hair and throwing her to the ground, police said. TBI, Murfreesboro police search for BLACK gunman in lounge deadly shooting 
MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) – Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has placed the man accused of shooting and killing one man and seriously injuring others outside a hookah bar in Murfreesboro early Saturday morning on its most-wanted list.
Law enforcement is looking for 21-year-old Jamar Adam Marks. Police said Marks is wanted for first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The search comes after police said reports of shots fired outside a hookah bar on Middle Tennessee Blvd. around 2 a.m. A sergeant arrived at the scene to find a man, who was later identified as (black, dreadful, gang-signing, knife-holding) 35-year-old Brandon Anderson, of Murfreesboro, seriously injured. The sergeant tried to save Anderson, including issuing him a tourniquet. Police said EMS took Anderson to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. Murfreesboro Police Spokesman Larry Flowers said that Anderson was trying to break up a fight between the other men before the gunshots. "In the midst of him [Anderson] trying to break up the fight, gunshots erupted, and he was shot," Flowers told News4. "The two individuals were fighting as well as two other bystanders were shot in the process." |

A Queens man has been busted for the horrifying November attack on an aspiring Thai model on a Herald Square subway platform, police said Saturday.
Kevin Douglas, 40, was charged Thursday with second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery and second-degree assault, according to the NYPD. The address provided by police for Douglas was a Days Inn hotel near JFK International Airport. But Douglas has been in jail since the Nov. 22 subway attack, locked up for another crime later the same day as the assault, public records show. The negro mugger allegedly touched her "private parts" and fled with her purse, police said. He’s been arrested 44 times and faced charges for drugs, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, robbery and criminal tampering dating back to 1997, sources said. On one day alone — May 13, 2019, he was arrested 16 times, according to sources. The reason for the flurry of arrests was not immediately known. Should be deported to Monkey Island

The violent group lured the victim into a stairwell before one of them pointed a gun in his face and another brandished a gun and struck him in the face with it, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. They allegedly snatched the kid’s wallet, including his ID and credit cards, along with his electronics, phone, sweatshirt, shoes and a Canada Goose coat before running off together, leaving the victim “frightened, barefoot, coatless with no way to call for help on a cold afternoon in January,” said Assistant District Attorney Mary DeCamp. The group Robinson was allegedly with at the time of the incident included Prince and Paris Francis, who are accused of firing shots last week which struck a veteran NYPD officer in the foot. Authorities said Paris Francis was caught on surveillance video in the area of the shooting wearing a Canada Goose coat.

A Manhattan man was busted for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend’s father at point-blank range and in broad daylight threatened the young woman with the gun — but the weapon jammed, according to court papers.
Andrew Tracey, 20, was arraigned on attempted murder charges and held on a $100,000 bond in the stunning, caught-on video altercation with the dad, a city sanitation worker, at 515 West 52nd St., which unfolded just after 11 a.m. Thursday. Moments before the shooting, an argument had broken out in front of the apartment where the sanitation worker’s daughter lives, an NYPD spokeswoman told The Post. Tracey and his brother had allegedly showed up at the apartment, prompting the daughter to call her father, sources and prosecutors said. The girlfriend begged Tracey to put the gun away, but he instead threatened to “light it up” and shoot out her windows — until the gun malfunctioned, according to a criminal complaint. When the girl’s father arrived, Tracey and another man, Elijah Tracey, (PICTURED) also 20, allegedly opened fire, hitting the 40-year-old dad in the leg.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — On Friday, investigators announced a break in a 41-year-old cold case. Wayne Walker, 58, has been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Denise Marie Pierson, from Marcus Hook. Pierson went missing in April of 1981, and her body wasn't discovered for another three years.
Walker faces first, second and third-degree murder charges. He's also charged with criminal homicide, kidnapping, and conspiracy. When Pierson's body was discovered in 1984, an autopsy concluded that she died from blunt force trauma to the head, Delaware County District Attorney's Office and Pennsylvania State Police said. According to the DA a second man, Peter Horne, was also a suspect in Pierson's murder, but he died in prison nearly a decade ago. Authorities are still investigating two more suspects. Investigators said that Pierson didn't return home after visiting a friend in Marcus Hook on April 14, 1981. In January 1984, a crisis center took a phone call from someone who said they killed Pierson. Call tracing efforts identified Horne's home address as the source of the call. Authorities found a pair of billy clubs at his house, along with other evidence. In Feb. 1984, Pierson's mother said that she and her daughter had often gone to the garage where Horne worked, and he quit working at the garage the day after Pierson disappeared. Her skeletal remains were found near railroad tracks at Seventh and Market streets in Marcus Hook on July 18, 1984, about 300 yards from Horne's home, the District Attorney's office said. Nearly 10 years after Pierson's body was found, investigators talked to the first of the two currently unnamed suspects, and he said that he believed Walker and the second unnamed suspect could have killed Pierson, according to prosecutors. The DA's office said that later in 1994, a man who shared a jail cell with Walker told investigators that Walker had admitted to carrying Pierson's body to the train tracks with Horne and the first of the unnamed suspects, and the three of them buried her body. Walker had also reportedly told his cellmate that Horne had struck Pierson before they went to bury her. During other interviews in 1994-95 cited by the DA's office, Walker said he had been at Horne's home on the day of the killing when the two of them, both unnamed suspects and Pierson played a game called "Spin the Stick." Walker told investigators that Horne struck Pierson with a stick, the second unnamed suspect gave Horne a clothesline to tie her up, Horne put the victim in bags, and the four of them took her to the Marcus Hook school parking lot. Walker also said that when they arrived, the second unnamed suspect hit Pierson with a railroad spike, and that Horne and the first suspect threatened Walker to never speak about the murder. The DA's office also said that Walker told investigators that he had later returned to where Pierson was buried by the railroad tracks to "have sex with the corpse." Horne was arrested for firearms violations in 1995 and in 1997 for stalking and was convicted. He died while in custody in 2013. Investigators interviewed Horne's wife the same year he died, and during [stet] htat interview, she admitted that she believed he killed Pierson. In 2018, investigators found that suspects had talked about Pierson's murder with "numerous acquaintances." Between then and now, after gathering weapons, case facts and a study of photos of the victim's remains, investigators discovered that Pierson's injuries were consistent with the weapons used. “For 40 long years, the family of Denise Pierson has sought answers in connection with the death of their loved one. We hope that today’s announcement brings a measure of healing and closure that they’ve been denied for too long,” said District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer. “As with any cold case Homicide Investigation, the passage of time should not be looked at as a burden to the investigation, but rather an advantage,” said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper First Class Andrew Martin. “It is often found that relationships change throughout the years. Witnesses who may have been reluctant to come forward in the past, are now more willing to assist. People previously confided in by suspects because they were trustworthy may not have the same loyalties 40 years later, and this is exactly what we have found with this investigation.” Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of other suspects. began in Daytona Beach, Florida, nearly 14 years ago.State Attorney R.J. Larizza said Thursday that Hayes will be tried in a death penalty case in the killings of Laquetta Gunther, Julie Green and Iwana Patton who were all shot to death and left in the middle of Daytona Beach in late 2005 and early 2006. Hayes, 37, of West Palm Beach, is suspected in the killing of a woman in South Florida. He remains jailed there. Larizza said a survivor of a Hayes attack came forward and is talking to police. Hayes was a criminal justice student and a cheerleader at Bethune-Cookman University when three women were slain in Daytona Beach. DNA found on the South Florida victim, Rachel Bey, 32, killed three years ago, matched DNA recovered on two of the Daytona Beach victims, police said. Hayes was indicted by a grand jury in Palm Beach County on Oct. 3 on charges of first-degree murder and sexual battery with great force, according to court records. Hayes pleaded not guilty. Hayes’ DNA was found on Gunther, 45, a prostitute shot in the head in Daytona Beach. Her body was discovered on Christmas Eve 2005 in a kneeling position between two buildings, investigators said. DNA from Hayes was also found on Green, 34, another Daytona Beach prostitute who was found dead in a ditch near a construction site Jan. 14, 2006. She was also shot in the head, according to police. Police said Green, a mother of four, had left her home to use a pay phone and never returned. On Feb. 24, 2006, Patton’s body was discovered in a desolate area. Patton, 35, worked as a nurse’s aide. CANTON – An Akron man will spend 23 to 28 1/2 years in prison for fatally shooting a Canton man over a game of dice.
Kolbi A. Ross, 25, pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and gun-related felonies for the 2020 shooting death of Corwin Spicer, 40, of Canton.
"He was the oldest of eight, and you took away our king," Spicer's sister, Monica Upshaw, told Ross when given the chansce to speak during Friday's hearing in Stark County Common Pleas Court. Ross was originally indicted on aggravated murder and other charges for killing Spicer on Aug. 16, 2020. He reached a plea deal to avoid his scheduled trial. Judge Natalie Haupt accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Ross to the agreed-upon term of 23 to 28 1/2 years. Two teen brothers with a raft of prior arrests were ordered held without bail Saturday in the shooting of an off-duty police officer who was attending a memorial service in West Harlem.
Paris Francis, 17, and Prince Francis, 16, of Manhattanville, were in Manhattan Criminal Court to face the music following their Thursday arrests.
Paris Francis is alleged to be the triggerman in the Feb. 5 shooting of veteran policer officer Robert Manley, prosecutors said. Manley, an off-duty NYPD housing cop, was shot in the foot about 4:30 p.m. after he attended a memorial service for a community member at the Manhattanville Houses in West Harlem. The Francis brothers were caught on video in the area of the shooting and the footage shows Paris, dressed in a black jacket with a Canada Goose logo on the left arm, with the gun, prosecutors said in court. The two face attempted murder, assault and weapons possession charges. |

Morris Jones was a Crips gang member known as “Petey Gun” who has been identified as the suspect in the February 11, 2022, shooting of his ex-girlfriend and five Phoenix police officers. Altogether, nine officers were injured in the incident.
The first officer was “ambushed”after responding to a call about a woman who had been shot, Sergeant Andy Williams of the Phoenix Police Department said in a news conference. “When the first officer arrived on scene, he approached the home to help. He was actually invited inside by the suspect — an adult male,” Williams said. “As [the officer] approached the doorway, the suspect ambushed him with a gun and shot him several times. That officer was able to get back and get away to safety.” Williams said an “adult male” — not the suspect — came to the door while holding an infant. “He placed that infant on the ground in front of the door, walked toward officers — he was detained,” Williams said. When officers approached the baby, the suspect again opened fire from the home, striking four of the officers with gunshots, Williams said. Four other officers were injured “indirectly with ricochet or shrapnel,” and two officers returned fire, he added. Williams said the department’s SWAT team attempted negotiations with the suspect until they eventually entered the home, where they found the suspect “deceased inside” and an adult woman with critical injuries. According to ABC15, the victim, the woman — believed to be Jones’ ex-girlfriend — later died of her injuries. The outlet also said it was unclear whether Jones’ wounds were self-inflicted. Officers arrested 36-year-old Albert Gonzales for strong-arm robbery Tuesday afternoon.
They were called to the Dollar Tree store on Olive Avenue near Snelling Highway around 4 pm. Police say the store manager tried to stop Gonzales from stealing from the business. Store clerk Sri Satya Krishna Chitturi (from India) shot dead in holdup in Alabama Investigators are asking for your help locating a suspect in the shooting that was captured on surveillance at the store. The suspect is described as a black male, about 6′ to 6′2 with a slender build. BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Jalen Mykal Pierce, 28 of Roanoke, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder for his alleged involvement with the fatal shooting at Melody Hookah Lounge in Blacksburg Friday night.

PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - A man has been found guilty of murdering a woman at a Petersburg hotel in May of last year.
Following a two-day jury trial, Franklin Coleman was found guilty of the first-degree murder of Ravon Mays, use of a firearm in the commission of the murder, discharging a firearm in public and solicitation to commit tampering with evidence.
The murder happened at the OYO Hotel on May 6, 2021. In a release from the Petersburg Commonwealth’s Attorney, Coleman opted to be sentenced by the judge who presided over the trial. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 23. |
(Black) Oak Lawn Medical Student Shoots Brother 6 Times: Police
OAK LAWN, IL — An Oak Lawn medical student is accused of shooting his brother six times while the two were having an argument in their home. Terrance Johnson, 29, appeared Thursday before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 8, Oak Lawn police answered a call of a person shot inside a home in the 9600 block of South Karlov Avenue. Officers arrived to find Johnson standing outside the house next to his car. Johnson's brother was found badly bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds behind a closet in the attached garage, the prosecutor said. The brothers' mother, who the prosecutor said witnessed the shooting, told police her sons were having an argument when Johnson became "unnecessarily angry." According to mother, Johnson went upstairs and came back down with a gun. Pushing his mother out of the way, the prosecutor said Johnson fired six shots at his brother, who was trying to protect himself by getting behind an armoire near the dining room. Wounded, the brother walked through the kitchen and then into the attached garage, leaving a blood trail, the prosecutor said. |

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - A Richmond man has been arrested in connection to a group of individuals seen rummaging through several cars in a Fredericksburg neighborhood last year.
Police say on May 15, 2021, at around 3:00 a.m. a couple noticed a group of individuals sifting through several vehicles outside of their home in the 1100 block of Nolan Street. As the couple approached the group, one of the individuals fired a handgun at them and then the group fled on foot. On Feb. 9, 2022, the Richmond City Jail served Hasan Stewart, 25, with the following warrants: Shooting with intent to maim, kill, etc. (two counts) Discharge of a firearm in a public space Brandishing a firearm (two counts) Vehicle tampering (six counts) |

Severed finger found in HISPANIC driver’s wallet during traffic stop 
Police made a grim discovery during a Utah traffic stop this week: a severed finger stashed in a man’s wallet.
The rotting body part was found wrapped in cloth when cops pulled over Victor Naum Chavez-Zuniga, 27, in Orem on Thursday for having a busted headlight, KSL reported.
“The finger had what appeared to be pus and blood on it,” police said. “The joint was beginning to turn green, and the fingernail appeared to be decayed.”
The digit also gave off a “noticeable foul smell” when it was unwrapped, officers added. It wasn’t immediately clear whom the finger belonged to. Officers had carried out the search of Chavez-Zuniga’s vehicle and belongings after realizing he had several active warrants against him. Ninomiya to call Helfert “a wolf in sheep’s clothing” during his sentencing in December 2020. The sentence included five years of probation. He was fired by the sheriff’s office in December 2019. |

Two women have been charged with attempted murder after a fast food server was shot in an argument about a missing burger.
Bryanna Johnson and Breanta Johnson are charged with the shooting at a George Webb restaurant in Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee on 30 January. They are both sisters, according to CBS58.
A restaurant employee told Milwaukee police that the two 20-year-olds were being “impatient and rude”, and allegedly argued with severs over a missing burger, WISN reported. One of the two women returned shortly after being asked to leave the restaurant and according to court documents seen by Fox6 News Milwaukee the “women were up by the register” when the shooting victim was punched. They were among a pack of four (almost certainly black women. “The other woman pulled out a handgun and fired one round at (the victim) striking him in the face while (the victim) was lying on the ground,” the complaint added. It remains unclear who fired the handgun at the 26-year-old George Webb employee, who reportedly encountered serious injuries and was recovering in hospital following the altercation. A fundraiser for the shooting victim has meanwhile raised almost $35,000 (£25,825) on GoFundMe. He was identified only as “Anthony”, who was “working as a waiter on the overnight shift when some customers got upset, pushed him down, and shot him in the face”, a message claims. “They then proceeded to (negro) stomp on him before leaving”, the statement added. Ms Johnson and Ms Johnson appeared in a Milwaukee County court Monday to hear the charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and a bond of $100,000 (£73,737) each. They are due to appear in court again on 15 February. Anthony is a hard worker, just doing what he can to support his 3 year old son. He doesn't have insurance and the recovery is sure to be long and expensive. A naked man crept into an 80-year-old Chicago woman’s bed and held her hostage for 17 hours — but she was finally rescued after her daughter called the cops because the woman hadn’t texted her the day’s Wordle answers, WBBM-TV reported.
Denyse Holt was asleep on Saturday when the mentally ill man broke into her home in the Windy City’s Lincolnwood neighborhood, according to the outlet.
The intruder — identified as 32-year-old James H. Davis III, who was reportedly bloodied from a broken window — slipped into Holt’s bed while clutching a pair of scissors, the station said. “I was in shock,” said Holt, who tried to remain calm during the ordeal. “I was trying to survive, that’s all. He said, ‘I won’t harm you or molest you.’” He ordered her to take a shower with him in her nightgown but “then he said, ‘No, I’m not warm enough. We have to take a bath,’” she recounted. After the bath, she said, he dragged her around her house, disconnected the phones and took a couple of knives from the kitchen before taking her to a bathroom in the basement, which he blocked with a chair. To pa ss the time, Holt did exercises in total darkness. “I didn’t think I was going to live. I was doing marching and stretching as much as I could,” she said. Eventually, Holt’s daughter Meredith Holt-Caldwell, who lives in Seattle, noticed that her mother had not texted her about the word-logic puzzle, as she usually does. “I didn’t send my older daughter a Wordle in the morning — and that was disconcerting to her,” Holt said. James Davis III is facing felony charges including home invasion with a dangerous weapon, aggravated kidnapping while armed with a dangerous weapon, and aggravated assault against a peace officer. The family then called police, who responded to Holt’s home about 9:40 p.m. Sunday. A SWAT team used a stun gun to overpower the man after an hours-long standoff, the outlet reported. “I never thought in a million years this is what was happening, but it was,” Holt-Caldwell told WBBM. Midland Co. Jury sentences (Black) Arkansas man to 60 years
A Midland County jury sentenced a 33-year-old Arkansas man to 60 years in prison for murder, tampering with evidence and tampering with a corpse, according to a news release from the Midland County District Attorney’s Office.
On Tuesday, a jury also assessed Willie Otey Henderson 10 years in prison on each count of tampering.
The trial began on Jan. 31. The evidence, according to the news release showed that on Oct. 19, 2018, showed Henderson and others went to his neighbor’s apartment and shot the victim in the abdomen causing him to be instantly paralyzed from the waist down. Henderson then stepped over the victim and ransacked the apartment. On his way out of the apartment, Henderson collected the victim’s phones and keys and locked the door preventing the discovery of the victim’s body until Sunday afternoon. While the victim was undiscovered, Henderson moved the victim’s truck to another apartment complex two blocks away and while walking back to his apartment disposed of the victim’s phones in a roadside ditch, according to the DA’s Office. The victim’s brothers discovered the body after the victim failed to show up to work and no one was able to get in touch with the victim. The police were notified, and the investigation revealed: Henderson’s DNA on the victim’s phones where he removed the SIM cards, the victim’s blood on Henderson’s shoe, shoe prints from the same pair of shoes beside the victim’s body. “Due to a prior conviction for sexual assault and aggravated assault out of Arkansas, Henderson faced an enhanced punishment range of 15 years up to 99 years or life in prison for murder, two years to 20 years in prison for tampering with evidence, and five years to 99 years or life in prison for tampering with a corpse,” the news release said. “Henderson served a 14-year sentence on the sexual assault and aggravated assault and was released in May of 2018; five months before committing the murder.” (BLACK) Arkansas man sentenced to 60 years in prison for 2018 murder n Arkansas man was sentenced by a jury to 60 years in prison on Tuesday in relation to a 2018 murder, according to the Midland County District Attorney's Office. DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- The suspect accused of shooting a 19-year-old woman early Tuesday morning is now in custody, according to the Dayton Police Department.
38-year-old Quintin Clemons was arrested Thursday morning in connection to the homicide of Destiny Davis.

A married Bronx couple was arrested Wednesday for allegedly running a sex trafficking operation involving at least eight women.
Kareem 'Napoleon' Mitchell, 38, and Sharice Mitchell, 51, were charged with sex trafficking, promoting prostitution and conspiracy. Kareem, who is a registered sex offender stemming from a 2008 federal conviction, is also charged with aggravated harassment.
Prosecutors say Kareem ran a sex trafficking operation from November 2018 and lasting up until his arrest Wednesday, using Facebook and Instagram to recruit women to work for him and then subjecting them to verbal and physical abuse to force them into prostitution. His wife, Sharice, is accused of aiding in the operation by lying on her application to become a foster parent about living with Kareem - even though he was registered at the same address. Two of the eight women in the sex ring were reportedly placed in her care, but were over the age of 18. (In New York, individuals can remain in the foster system until the age of 21). Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. Kareem is now being held without bail, while Sharice had bail set at $500,000. If convicted, Kareem faces up to 100 years in prison, and Sharice faces up to 75 years. |

Proposed Alabama bills would protect Confederate monuments and raise fines if they're removed
(CNN)An Alabama legislative committee has advanced two bills designed to further protect Confederate monuments and criminalize people who attempt to remove them.State Sen. A Dayton man was found guilty of murder Thursday in the November 2019 shooting deaths of a Mansfield couple and their unborn child.
Larry Dwayne Rodgers, 33, is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 11 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court after he was convicted on all charges and specifications, including four counts of aggravated murder; four counts of murder; four counts of kidnapping; four counts of felonious assault; and two counts of involuntary manslaughter, each with a three-year gun specification. He also was found guilty of one count of having weapons while under disability for a prior offense of violence. Kyla Hayton, 21, and her boyfriend Todd Burkhart, 28, were reported missing Nov. 16, 2019, from Mansfield. Relatives told Mansfield police they may have been trying to get a gun in Dayton for protection, a report stated. Burkhart’s body was found Nov. 22, 2019, in a vacant West Stewart Street house in Dayton. Three days later, on Nov. 25, 2019, Hayton’s body was found with the help of cadaver dogs in a different vacant house on West Stewart Street. Hayton was five months pregnant, expecting a boy, family members said. Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said at the time that Burkhart and Hayton were each shot in the head. Although Hayton was hit by multiple gunshots, her unborn child was not hit by bullets but died because Hayton died, the coroner said. The involuntary manslaughter charges were because the shooting death of Hayton “cause[d] the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy,” prosecutors said. Rodgers was the sole person of interest in the case, Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said after the deadly shootings. He was arrested the day Burkhart’s body was found for having a weapon as a convicted felon. As part of the police investigation into the homicides, detectives searched a Groveland Avenue house where they found a handgun determined to have been used to kill both victims, the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said. A suspect in the deadly shooting of an 8-year-old Florida girl has been busted at the home of eccentric social media personalities the Island Boys, according to authorities.
Andrew James Thomas, 20, was arrested for first-degree murder late Monday at the Coral Springs home of the distinctive tattooed duo who have a combined 8.5 million followers on TikTok, officials said.
He was charged with three felonies, including the first-degree murder of little Ronziyah Atkins, 8, in a drive-by shooting in Belle Glade on Friday. One of Island Boys brothers, Alex Vanegas, was home when the SWAT team stormed their house — and Thomas ran toward him with a handgun and extended magazine, TMZ said, citing the police report. The online rapper told cops that his childhood friend begged him to then hide the weapon, but he refused, the outlet said. Vanegas told WPBF 25 News he cried when he realized his childhood friend was being arrested for first-degree murder. The Island Boys have not been implicated in the investigation. A Mason man will spend the next 25 years in prison for the February 2020 shooting death of a 15-year-old Dayton track star.
Jackeem Collins, 20, was sentenced Wednesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court after he pleaded guilty and was convicted Jan. 7 of one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of felonious assault. Collins randomly fired a handgun six times into a group of teenagers on Feb. 16, 2020, who gathered at the corner of Catalpa Drive and Sunnyview Avenue. The shots killed Qua’Lek Shelton, an award winning hurdler and student at Paul Laurence Dunbar Early College High School, and wounded a 16-year-old boy, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office. Collins was in a vehicle when he fired the shots that struck the two teens, prosecutors said. Shelton died of his injuries two days later. Dayton police investigators determined Collins was the shooter. In addition to his 25-year sentence Collins was ordered to pay restitution and funeral expenses, the prosecutor’s office said. |

Utica, N.Y. – A 38-year-old Utica man was arrested for fatally shooting a 43-year-old man in the parking lot of a Utica gas station Sunday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Aaron Higgs, 43, of Utica.
Around 1:55 p.m. police responded to Utica Fastrac, 1800 Genesee St., for reports of a man with a gunshot wound, according to a news release from Utica police.
Police found Higgs in the front seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the back of his head, they said. Higgs was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. On sunday night, police identified the suspect as Anthony Willis, 38, of Utica. Police were told that Willis was on Noyes Street, they said. Several officers responded to the area and arrested Willis, police said. Surveillance footage and eyewitnesses confirmed Willis was the suspect, police said. In the footage, Willis can be seen sitting in the backseat of the vehicle that Higgs was found dead in at the time of the shooting, police said. Police later discover that Willis was in possession of a large quantity of narcotics and $40,000 in cash, they said. The relationship between Willis and Higgs is currently under investigation, police said. There is no known motive for the shooting at this time, they said. A handgun was found at the scene, police said. Police are awaiting ballistics testing to determine whether the handgun was used in the fatal shooting, they said. |

A 38-year-old man with more than two dozen voyeurism convictions is serving another jail sentence for peeping in a women’s restroom at a Miami Twp. bowling alley.
Harold Rimblert III, of Harrison Twp., pleaded guilty Friday in Miamisburg Municipal Court for voyeurism, a third-degree misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 60-days in the Montgomery County Jail and was given credit for 16 days already served. As of Monday, he has 40 more days left.
Police were called around 2:45 p.m. Nov. 16 to Poelking Lanes South at 8871 Kingsridge Drive for a voyeurism complaint after he apparently followed a woman to the restroom and looked under the stall, according to Miami Twp. Police Department reports. Rimblert now has at least 29 voyeurism convictions between 2004 and 2022 in Dayton Municipal Court, Fairborn Municipal Court, Kettering Municipal Court, Miamisburg Municipal Court, Montgomery County Municipal Court and Vandalia Municipal Court, court records show. Pilkington's family became concerned when they learned she failed to show up at work Friday at Baumhower's Victory Grille in Vestavia Hills, AL.com reports. A family member went to check on her and found her unresponsive inside her apartment just after 4 a.m. on Saturday and called 911, according to the HPD. "Evidence collected in the case revealed that Pilkington died as a result of an assault," the HPD said. Pilkington died of blunt force trauma, AL.com reports. Authorities quickly identified (negro) Cortez Lenarde Warren, 32, of Hoover, Pilkington's "fornication-friend", as the suspect, the HPD said in an update Monday. He is believed to have been Pilkington's "fornication-friend" for less than a year, AL.com reports. On Saturday, police issued a BOLO for Warren and the white Nissan Altima he was driving, AL.com reports. Warren was spotted driving through Irondale and Birmingham and then onto Interstate 65 with officers from three different towns in pursuit. Warren allegedly led the pack of officers on a long car chase that ended when he pulled over on the highway, ABC 33/40 News reports. As an officer from Fultondale was pulling over, a passing motorist struck his SUV from behind, the outlet reports. The officer and the driver were taken to a local hospital. The officer was treated and released and the driver remained in the hospital, ABC 33/40 News reports. Police arrested Warren, who was held in the Hoover City Jail. On Monday, the HPD announced that detectives obtained the necessary warrants against Warren to proceed with the case. Warren is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and unlawful possession of marijuana, say police. He is being held on three bonds totaling $262,000. COLORED Couple charged in fatal beating of 12-year-old boy in Northwest Side apartment, police say
SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio couple beat a 12-year-old boy and made him do push-ups and hold 50-pound boxes for hours before he lost consciousness and died at a hospital, according to police.
Derrick Coles, 32, and Kapri Cheatom, 27, were arrested overnight and each charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony, jail records show. Charges may be upgraded upon further investigation.
Police said they responded to the couple’s apartment in the 7000 block of Wurzbach Road just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday for a report of an injured child. Officers found Coles’ son, identified as Danilo Coles, unresponsive, an arrest warrant affidavit states. The couple alleged that the boy fell in the shower. The boy was taken to University Hospital, where staff found “several suspicious injuries on the victim,” the affidavit states. He had no brain activity and was pronounced dead that night. The couple was taken in for questioning, and Derrick Coles said the boy recently moved in with them. The boy was previously staying with his mother in Chicago, where he was allegedly abused in the past, the affidavit states. Derrick Coles said the boy was “disrespectful” upon moving in, so he made him do push-ups and hold boxes that weighed about 50 pounds as a discipline. On Sunday, Derrick Coles said he “busted” the boy’s lip and made the boy do push-ups and hold boxes for three to four hours, the affidavit states. He said he made his son take a shower, where the boy fell and cut his eye, according to investigators. The man said he then made his son write three pages worth of lines of “I will obey all people that live in the household.” When Derrick Coles made the boy do more push-ups, the boy said he could not, police say. Derrick Coles and Cheatom then hit the boy with a belt, spanking him so hard that he had severe injuries to his buttocks, the affidavit states. Investigators said the boy had several whipping marks and internal stomach bleeding. |
Police arrest (Black) man accused of shooting 69-year-old Chesapeake man to death
CHESAPEAKE, VA — Police have arrested a 33-year-old man on charges he fatally shot a 69-year-old man Sunday in Chesapeake’s Indian River neighborhood.
Chesapeake police responded to the 2000 block of Timber Lane for a report of an injured person at 10:06 p.m. At the scene, officers found Roger Hardy, of Chesapeake, who had been shot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thomas L. Ireland, of Chesapeake, is accused in the shooting.
Ireland is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a felon and dwelling in a house with intent to commit murder, rape, robbery or arson. He’s being held at Chesapeake City Jail.
Police haven’t released further details about the shooting. An investigation is ongoing.

SAN ANTONIO – A man has been arrested in connection with the assaults of at least two young women at San Antonio-area Target stores, records show.
Patrick Donovan McLaughlin, 23, was charged with two counts of assault-bodily injury in the attacks that took place on Aug. 17 and Sept. 12, according to records with the Bexar County Jail.
In the first incident, a teenage girl was in the cosmetics department of the Target store located in the 18200 block of Blanco Road, near Loop 1604 in Stone Oak, when the suspect approached her. The suspect struck and grabbed the girl’s buttocks and ran off, an arrest warrant affidavit states. The girl reported the incident to her mother and Target employees. A similar incident happened to a young woman at the same store on Sept. 12. In that incident, McLaughlin also grabbed her wallet and pulled down his beanie to hide his face as he ran away from her, police said. The woman chased after the suspect and yelled for help, but he was not located. Investigators were able to see video surveillance and images of the suspect, and Target employees said he may be involved in similar incidents at area stores. The affidavit states that Target stores in the San Antonio area were made aware of the suspect and the attacks. On Sept. 16, employees at the store in the 22800 block of U.S. Highway 281 N., near TPC Parkway, noticed the man and confronted him. He argued with the employees and left the store, but employees were able to take a picture of his vehicle and license plate. Records show he was booked into the Bexar County Jail on Thursday. He was also wanted on a separate charge of engaging in organized criminal activity. |

An Arizona man has been arrested on suspicion that he hid his wife's body in a storage unit before dumping her remains in the desert.
Eugene Zamora, 51, is facing charges of manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and abandonment or concealment of a dead body in the 2021 death of his wife, Claudia Moreno. He was also charged with the misdemeanor of making a false report to law enforcement. According to a probable cause statement obtained by PEOPLE, Zamora allegedly told police that he was arguing with Moreno around 2 p.m. on Nov. 10 in their Tempe apartment when "he pushed the victim, causing her to fall backwards into the master bathroom and hit the back of her head on ledge of the bathtub, causing a laceration. Eugene checked on the victim and found that she had no pulse and was not breathing." FOREIGN Florida woman arrested after 2 neighbors stabbed with steak knife in feud over leaf blowing, police say 
A Florida woman allegedly stabbed two neighbors with a steak knife after accusing them of blowing leaves onto her lawn, authorities said.
Kyong Moulton, 66, told Palm Bay police that she came home on Sunday and found the leaves on her front lawn, believing that her neighbors from across the street left them there, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX35 Orlando.
Police said that Moulton then decided to use a leaf blower to blow the leaves back onto her neighbor’s lawn. The neighbor and his 87-year-old mother then confronted Moulton, and the three became embroiled in an argument. When the man’s sister tried to help, Moulton allegedly slapped her in the face and a struggle ensued. During the fight, the affidavit says that Moulton stabbed the man’s sister in the left leg with a steak knife. When the man tried to intervene, he said that he was stabbed in his left arm. The siblings also accused Moulton of pushing their 87-year-old mother to the ground. Moulton has denied stabbing anyone with a knife, according to the report. She was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of battery on a person 65 years of age or older, according to online jail records. |

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Police arrested and charged 30-year-old Andrew Bennett with one count of sexual crimes against an animal.
”Kentucky State Police received a call on Butterpoint Road in the Jackson Community of Breathitt County in reference to an animal cruelty complaint,” said Trooper Matt Gayheart.
The call came in on Sunday, Gayheart said troopers who responded to the scene found video evidence of Bennett sexually assaulting a dog. ”This investigation will be handled just like any other investigation that we conducted, even more, so we don’t take crimes against animals lightly,” he said. “You know, that’s a very serious crime and that’s something we want to do the best we can to stand up and give them a voice.” He said it is a case they do not see every day. ”It’s kind of a learning curve, but we handle it just like anything else, and we’ll go through and cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s,” he said. Gayheart said the dog is in the care of Aspire Appalachia in Breathitt County. A Facebook post said the dog, named Hope, was taken for an examination and was treated for some health concerns. ”It will be a rescue, so that dog will be up for adoption,” he said. “As of right now we would like to get that dog rescued first.” |

Michael Simmons was arrested and charged on Monday, almost a year after the initial crime. Simmons was charged with 2nd degree murder and armed criminal action.
Eleven months ago, Leshaun Benson, 29, of South City was found shot dead in the 8700 block of N. Broadway around 10 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. When officers tried stopping a car believed to be connected to the fatal shooting, the vehicle drove off and officers pursued it. A tire deflation device was successfully used to stop car in the area of Kingshighway and Page, where two suspects attempted to run off. The suspects were both taken into custody near Page and Cora. One of the suspects was then found to have a gunshot wound and lacerations. As a result of the chase, one officer was taken to the hospital with a knee injury. A second officer suffered minor injuries to his hands. |

A Tyler pastor who has been accused of taking more than $30,000 from a couple by making withdrawals on their accounts has been indicted on a charge of theft against an elderly individual.
Jerome Rocky Milton, 66, was indicted during the Dec. 9 grand jury session following his October arrest, according to records from the 114th District Court.
Milton was booked Oct. 2 into Smith County Jail on charges of property theft between $2,500 and $30,000, two counts of credit or debit card abuse against the elderly and one count of property theft between $30,000 and $150,000 against an elderly person. He was released Oct. 22 on bonds totaling $320,000. Milton was arrested Dec. 22 on a charge of misappropriation of between $150,00 and $300,000 of fiduciary property, according to jail records. He was released the same day on a $100,000 bond. Documents released Monday by the Smith County District Attorney’s office showed an indictment on a single charge. An affidavit for his arrest showed Milton as the reverend for Open Door Bible Church in Tyler. According to the document, Milton was helping take care of an elderly couple at church and had the power of attorney and finances for them. The Tyler police investigation began when the elderly couple’s son heard two church members say Milton was misusing his parents’ bank cards and getting them to sign blank checks. According to the affidavit, the investigation showed multiple debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals from the elderly husband’s bank card. The detective said multiple checks were written from the couple’s account to Milton and his personal and church accounts. He repeatedly used the couple’s money to make personal payments on his own behalf, according to the affidavit. Bank records and receipts showed the elderly man’s card was used to make a vehicle payment on Milton’s account with an auto repair shop. Records also showed Milton used the man’s card to pay for a loan at a used car business, the affidavit stated. |

Authorities investigating string of crimes in Screven County; one (Black) facing charges
SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) — The Sylvania Police Department and the Screven County Sheriff’s Office are investigating several break-ins and firearm thefts.
The Sylvania Police Department responded to multiple calls where unlocked vehicles were broken into over the last few days. Authorities say two firearms were stolen out of two different cars in the St. Andrews/Abram Street area. On February 3, the suspects started breaking into businesses. Arrest made after altercation that left 49ers fan in coma; Hispanic suspect identified 
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) – Police in Inglewood have made an arrest in connection with an altercation that took place during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game at SoFi Stadium that left a 49ers fan in a medically induced coma.
The arrest was confirmed Friday by Inglewood Mayor James Butts during a morning news conference. Butts said that police on Thursday traced a vehicle seen in security video and left information for the registered owner that they were looking for someone involved in a potential assault. They were contacted later that day by Bryan Alexis Cifuentes, 33, of Los Angeles, Butts said. NEW YORK CITY – New York's bail reform push is facing new calls for reform on its own, coming from crime victims who braved a cold, gray Monday morning rain to send prosecutors a pointed message. "There are thousands of all kinds of criminal elements walking free in our streets," said activist Madeline Brame. "I try not to get too upset, I try not to get too fired up, but I have no choice." Brame's son, U.S. Army Sgt. Hason Correa, survived deployment in Afghanistan only to be murdered in New York City in 2018. Police say a gang of four men and a woman pounced on him, stabbing him to death. He has since become a symbol of the fight against bail reform, since one of the suspects in his killing was sprung from jail awaiting trial. "Anyone who is a victim of any crime, from the senior citizen who gets mugged for their cellphone for $30, for the woman who comes home from work and steps into the elevator and gets raped, for the 93-year-old man who is walking down the street and gets punched in the face by someone who has 103 prior arrests, there is something wrong with this picture," Brame said. She and other crime victims’ families and criminal justice advocates rallied at Manhattan criminal court to protest New York's lax bail reform law, and to put pressure on progressive Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to abandon policies that critics have said are too lenient to criminals. "Victims' rights should not be a political issue," activist Jennifer Harrison, of the group Victims Rights NY, told the crowd. Harrison's boyfriend was stabbed to death. A 'man' suspected of being involved in the fatal hookah lounge shooting near Virginia Tech's campus was arrested and taken into custody on Saturday in an incident that left one person dead and four injured, police said in a statement.
Jamel D. Flint, 24, of Roanoke, Va., was arrested without incident and is currently faces charges of first-degree murder after the shooting killed 18-year-old high school student Isiah O. Robinson of Roanoke, according to a statement from the Blacksburg Police. Flint also faces four additional charges of attempted first-degree murder and a firearm charge. Flint's arrest comes after police responded just before midnight on Friday to reports of shots being fired at Melody Hookah Lounge in Blacksburg, Va. Five people were shot, leaving one dead and four others wounded. Virginia Tech issued a "secure in place" order around midnight and later lifted it around 3:15 a.m. A school official later noted that that the family of a male student who was wounded said he was out of surgery and was recovering. Officials did not release the name of the student wounded. |

Marcus Henry, 50, pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder in connection to the November 2021 death of his mother, Essie Mae Henry.
Investigators with the South Euclid Police Department said the victim was found dead in the bushes in front of the Warrensville-Colony Apartments near Warrensville Center Road in November 2021. The victim’s son was taken into custody on Jan. 27, according to South Euclid police, months after the incident. The medical examiner’s office said her death was ruled a homicide from blunt force injuries. During Tuesday’s hearing, the prosecutor suggested that gardening tools found near the scene of the homicide may have been used in Henry’s death. Disturbing: garden tools found at the scene were potentially used by Henry to beat his 91yo mother to death... The judge set bond at $1 million. The prosecutor’s office initially requested for it to be set at $2 million, but Henry’s attorney argued that it was unreasonable. (Black) Juvenile suspect arrested in East Cleveland torture, murder case bound over to adult court
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The 17-year-old female charged in connection with a torture, murder in East Cleveland has now been bound over to adult court.
The juvenile was arrested by East Cleveland police in November 2021 for the murder of Alishah Pointer, 22.
Her case is now pending before the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. Pointer’s body was found Nov. 9, 2021 in the basement of a burned out home in the 14500 block of Savannah Avenue in East Cleveland. Pointer was reported missing on Nov. 4, 2021 and police said she was tortured for information on a Cleveland crime before she was killed. The five adults charged in connection with the murder of Pointer have a hearing on Monday, Feb. 7. Portria Williams, Brittany Smith, Anthony Bryant, Nathaniel Poke Jr. and Hakeem Ali Shomo are all charged with aggravated murder. |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Guilty is the verdict in the murder trial of 43-year old Buffalo man Clarence Lamont Bryant.
The jury rendered their decision Thursday evening after hours of deliberation in the three-day trial.
Bryant shot his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Lekeeta Holloman, with an illegal gun while walking back to her vehicle after dropping her child off at daycare on November 15, 2019, near Prospect Avenue and Maryland Street in Buffalo, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s office. Holloman was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where she died. The 43-year-old was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He’ll be back in court for sentencing on March 11 at 9:30 a.m. Bryant could spend a maximum of 25 years to life behind bars. He’s held without bail. |
Investigators arrest 2 BLACK men wanted for fatal shooting at N. Charleston club
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department has announced the arrest of two men wanted for a fatal shooting at a club.
Investigators each charged 31-year-old Edmound Franklin Jr. and 28-year-old Joseph Jenkins with murder. In addition, Franklin also faces a charge of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Their arrest stems from a shooting in May of 2021 inside the Vibez Restaurant and Lounge on 2611 Ashley Phosphate Road. The victim was identified as 30-year-old Kadeem Felder from North Charleston. NCPD authorities said during an investigation, Franklin and Jenkins were identified as suspects, and on Feb. 1, 2022, they were both arrested by North Charleston police and the US Marshals Task Force. Authorities already arrested Syqoune Moody on Jan. 13, 2022 in the case. He was also charged with murder. |

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 34-year-old man will be sentenced in July for shooting at Homeland Security agents on Cleveland’s East Side as well as sex trafficking of a juvenile and producing child pornography.
Reuben Rankin was found guilty Friday by a federal jury following a 9-day trial, according to a Department of Justice news release. Federal officials said Rankin fired six shots at Homeland Security agents who were executing a search warrant at a home on Dove Avenue on Oct. 30, 2019. The agents were there to investigate sex trafficking of a minor, according to the release. A Homeland Security agent returned fire, and officials said Rankin exited the car and was taken into custody. According to the release, Rankin was convicted of the following charges: assaulting a federal agent with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, sex trafficking of a minor, production of child pornography, being a felon in possession of a firearm |

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Petersburg Police Department arrested a man they say sexually exposed himself to a minor while on public transportation.
On Friday, a minor was waiting at a bus stop when Lionel Thompson, 34, arrived and sat in the bus stop shelter near the girl, an affidavit from the police department explains.
After the bus arrived, the girl got onto the bus and Thompson reportedly sat in front of her. While the bus was moving, Thompson pulled down his shorts and underwear exposing himself to the girl and began to inappropriately touch himself, the affidavit says. The minor saw Thompson staring at her while this was going on. The girl was reportedly on the phone with her friend at the time and explained what was going on "in disbelief." She got off the bus as soon as possible. Thompson was arrested and is facing charges of sexual battery on a person under 12 years old and exposure of sexual organs. In the state of Florida, Thompson has been a registered sex offender since 2008, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Should be deported to Monkey Island

The violent beating caught on surveillance camera reportedly happened around 7:18 p.m. Dec. 10, 2021, according to WXIX.
Police say their investigation revealed the two women were "upset by the way the Wendy's employee handed them their food." Captions added to the video by police detail how the women entered the restaurant and waited at the counter for some time. They have a brief exchange with the female employee before going behind the counter and back to the drive-thru and kitchen area. The female employee can be seen being hit in the face with a spray bottle before the assault begins. Police say the victim suffered a fractured leg and torn ligament as a result of the beating. Authorities are searching for Kevin Laval Thompson whose vehicle was stopped this past Saturday in the North Charleston area for a traffic violation. The sheriff’s office said he ran after drugs were found in the vehicle during a search.
“The suspect fought and threatened a deputy before eventually evading capture,” CCSO officials said. A report on the incident states that Thompson attempted to grab the deputy’s taser and threatened to shoot him. According to investigators, 165 grams of marijuana and a firearm were found during a thorough search of the vehicle. “Thompson should be considered armed and dangerous,” the sheriff’s office said. |

he body of a 59-year-old California woman who had been missing for several days was exhumed Thursday in the backyard of a man who resided near her, police said.
Micah James Dovlet, 34, of Milpitas, California, was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of homicide in the death of Tuyet Anh Phan.
On Monday, police received a phone call requesting a welfare check on the victim at her residence at a mobile home park in Milpitas. The person who contacted police said she was concerned because she had not heard from Phan for several days. A Milpitas police officer then went to check on the woman at her home but did not find anything suspicious. A missing person investigation was launched, and officers later met with the victim's family. Neighbors of the victim told officers they heard screaming in the immediate area early morning on Jan. 29, but the information was not provided to the Milpitas Police Department at the time, according to a statement from the department. During their investigation, officers found evidence of a violent crime near the victim’s home Tuesday morning. Detectives took over the investigation, police said. Dovlet, who lived near the victim, was detained at the time. That same day, a search of the victim’s home and Dovlet’s home indicated a homicide occurred, and Dovlet was later arrested, according to authorities. The victim's body had not yet been recovered. On Wednesday, detectives developed information on the location of the victim. The following day, officers secured and searched Dovlet’s home a second time. The victim’s body was eventually found buried in the backyard, according to police. Crime scene investigators and technicians from multiple agencies worked with Milpitas police in the investigation. Phan worked at a McDonald's across the street from City Hall and was described by neighbor Suong Ly as a "good person." The woman who was shot dead on a bus in Northern California was identified Friday as a single mother who was moving her family across the country for a new life.
Karin Dalton, 43, was killed when a passenger that was acting erratically opened fire at a rest stop in Oroville, an hour north of Sacramento, on Wednesday, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. A woman was killed and two men were wounded following a shooting inside a SPANISH-SPEAKING church in Aurora, Colorado Friday night.
Aurora police responded to reports of a shooting at the SPANISH-SPEAKING church Iglesia Faro De Luz after 8 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found all three individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Aurora police said in a press release Friday night. (CNN)An accused killer on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list has been captured in Mexico after being on the run since 2006, the bureau announced on Friday.
Octaviano Juarez-Corro, 48, is accused of killing two people and wounding three others at a Memorial Day 2006 picnic at Milwaukee's South Shore Park on Lake Michigan, the FBI said in a news release.
His estranged wife was one of the people injured with two gunshot wounds to the chest, the FBI said. The FBI said hundreds of people were in the park at the time of the shooting. After receiving a tip from the public, the FBI and Mexican authorities located Juarez-Corro on Thursday in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Mexico, the release said. A felony arrest warrant was issued in Milwaukee County Circuit Court charging Juarez-Corro with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of first-degree attempted intentional homicide, according to the FBI. A federal arrest warrant charges him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, the FBI said. "Octaviano Juarez-Corro spent the last 16 years running from law enforcement, hiding in another country, and believing time and distance was on his side," Special Agent in Charge Michael Hensle of the FBI's Milwaukee Field Office said in the release. A man convicted of attempting to set fire to a high school during the Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd has been sentenced to five years probation.
Mohamed Hussein Abdi, 20, was handed the probation sentence in a U.S. District Court in St. Paul, Minnesota, Thursday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit arson, according to court documents obtained by Fox News.
Abdi was also ordered to pay just over $34,000 in restitution to Gordon Parks High School in St. Paul. Two suspects approached the girls as they were walking to Fairfax High School on the 7200 block of Melrose Avenue — a hub for shopping and dining between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood — just after 7 a.m.
The suspects allegedly struck them, pulled them to the ground by their hair and demanded they hand over their phones. Suspects held onto the victims' hair until they unlocked their phones and handed them over, the LAPD said. In security camera footage from a nearby building released by the department, a third suspect enters the picture after the first two suspects strike the victims. The third suspect appears to run off with an object in his hand and passes it to the fourth suspect. Once the suspects appear to have both victims' phones and pass codes, they gradually walk away from the victims. The victims are 16- and 18-year-old sisters, according to ABC 7. The four suspects — described as two Black females, one Black male and one suspect wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans — then fled the scene in what appeared to be a back [stet] sedan with tinted windows, according to the LAPD. |

McALESTER, Okla. — An Oklahoma man, who had offered to be executed by firing squad, was put to death via lethal i njection on Thursday morning, officials said.
Donald Anthony Grant, 46, was pronounced dead at 10:16 a.m. CST at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, a state corrections spokesman announced.
The execution began at 10:03 a.m. and Grant was declared unconscious at 10:08 a.m. before his death at 10:16 a.m., said Department of Corrections Director Scott Crow. There were 18 witnesses to the execution, including news reporters, prosecutors, a police chief and loved ones of Grant and his victims. When asked if he had a final statement, Grant rambled for more than two minutes with disjointed phrases such as, "Yo I got this," "It's nothing" and "I've done this before." His microphone was cut off but Grant kept speaking even as the execution unfolded. At one point, tears appeared to be rolling down his face. Grant killed Brenda McElyea, 29, and Felicia Suzette Smith, 43, so there’d be no witnesses to his robbery at the La Quinta Inn in Del City in July 2001. OKLAHOMA CITY - A tip from a witness led Oklahoma City police to a murder suspect.
Investigators said 25-year-old Daquan Estes was involved in a deadly road rage shooting near downtown Oklahoma City earlier this month.
Police arrested Estes on Tuesday near Southwest 29th Street and Western Avenue. They said he was in the same car that was described leaving the deadly shooting scene.
Six days into the new year, police were called to the intersection of Reno Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue to check on a shooting. Officers found a silver Chevy Tahoe in the street with the driver still inside. “They located on person deceased inside of a vehicle,” Oklahoma City Police Department Sergeant Dillon Quirk said. “During the investigation, it appeared this stemmed from a traffic confrontation that began near Northwest 23rd and Penn.” The victim has since been identified as 38-year-old Oscar Alvarez. Police said Alvarez was shot at three times. One of the bullets hit him in the back of head, killing him. Two weeks after the deadly shooting, investigators got a tip that pointed to Estes as the suspected shooter. According to an arrest affidavit, Estes told a witness he shot and killed a man during a road rage incident. Police said Estes told the witness the victim was following him to close so he flashed a gun at him. Estes' anger escalated as they kept driving. Estes admitted to the witness that at the next stop light he shot at Alvarez three times and then fled the scene. “The result of this confrontation,” Quirk said. “Sadly, ended in the loss of someone’s life.” |

A resident at the Augusta Apartments called 911 around 3 a.m. Tuesday after they saw the suspects in the parking lot with tools in hand. Carlos Lopez fled from police during a traffic stop around 12:30 pm Wednesday. The officer stopped Lopez after he was seen leaving a known drug house in Stillwater.
“We had 11 cars total hit during the pursuit. Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea released a detailed timeline of the incident Wednesday night. Passengers reported that Coleman appeared to have made or received a phone call that made him agitated and that at some point he showed people a gun he had in his bag. . Coleman is then said to have started shooting as the bus arrived in Oroville and people started to leave. 12 9MM shells were found in the bus where the shooting took place. Authorities said a total of five of the 25 passengers were injured or suffered gunshot wounds. One of those victims died at the scene. Deputies arrived and found Cummings with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. ARRESTED: Javonne White and Jasmine Munro, for the 1/30 murder of 78-year-old Uken Cummings. Thanks to the unrelenting work of detectives and deputies, both are charged with First Degree Murder and Carjacking. Deputies learned that Cummings had arrived at the CVS parking lot to pick up his medication. While returning to his Mercedes, two suspects confronted him and shot him, OCSO said. Then, the suspects took his keys and stole the vehicle. As the suspects backed up the Mercedes, they ran over Cummings and then again as they fled the scene. Originally, OCSO stated it believed three suspects were involved and has not yet confirmed if they are looking for a third person of interest. The man charged in connection with the recent defacing of the exterior of Union Station, in Washington, D.C., with swastika graffiti is reportedly an illegal immigrant from Mexico with a decade-and-a-half-long criminal history.
The person arrested and charged last week in connection with the incident has been identified by police as 34-year-old Geraldo Pando, whom authorities said at the time was perhaps homeless and suffering from mental-health issues.
The Washington Examiner reported Wednesday that Pando has a 35-page criminal history from his time in Colorado, where he apparently lived before coming to the District of Columbia. He was deported twice before but does not currently meet the standards of the Biden administration for deportation, the Examiner also reports. Pando was arrested Friday in connection with defacing the historic train station with Nazi symbols one day after International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Law enforcement officers are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. Following his arrest for vandalizing the Capitol Hill area station, Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not attempt to take him into custody. He is not, for the moment, facing deportation, despite also reportedly being recently for vandalizing the U.S. Capitol Police headquarters. Capitol Police reportedly released Pando following his arrest because ICE did not request that he be detained pending transfer into federal custody. Pando's extensive rap sheet includes charges of felony drug possession, driving without a license, trespassing with intent to commit a crime, assault, and possession of drug paraphernalia, among other things, the Examiner also reports. ICE has not moved to take Pando into custody following this most recent D.C. crime spree. In early 2021, the Biden administration introduced new guidelines for arresting illegal immigrants. A jail boss in Manhattan’s infamous lockup is facing a slew of felony charges after he allegedly beat up and choked his estranged wife in a rage on New Year’s Eve, The Post has learned.
Shon Brown, an assistant deputy warden at the Manhattan Detention Complex, more commonly known as The Tombs, allegedly slashed the tires on his wife’s car and tailed the ride as someone else drove her home early on Dec. 31, according to a criminal complaint filed in Westchester County. At one point, the driver pulled into a gas station, believing they were allowing the BMW behind them to pass, the complaint reads. But Brown turned into the same station and started berating his wife, asking “where she had been,” the complaint says. The wife and the other person, who the complaint does not name, drove off — but Brown continued to follow, according to court papers. Once they arrived at the wife’s apartment building on Midland Avenue in Yonkers, Brown started screaming and allegedly threw his wife into a glass wall, the complaint says.

The ex-con and alleged gang member charged in the December stabbing rampage that left a Columbia University student dead cried out for his “mommy” following his arrest, court documents reveal.
Vincent Pinkney’s tearful Dec. 3 outburst in front of detectives interviewing him in the NYPD’s 26th Precinct was recorded on video, prosecutors disclosed in a filing obtained by The Post on Wednesday.
The footage shows the 25-year-old accused killer “crying and saying I am sorry. Saying he needs his mommy. Saying that he did bad and did good,” the court doc states. A call the suspect made to his mom about an hour later was also captured on camera, as was a conversation he had with a detective about how his parents “love” him and how he “is not all evil,” according to the filing. Pinkney — who has a lengthy rap sheet — was arraigned in Manhattan Supreme Court Wednesday on a five-count indictment including murder and attempted murder. He entered a plea of not guilty through his lawyer. He’s accused of going on a horrifying 20-minute stabbing spree, starting at around 11 p.m. on Dec. 2, when he allegedly knifed Columbia University graduate student Davide Giri, 30, in the stomach in Morningside Park. The Italian native, who was pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science, staggered out of the park and along West 123rd Street before collapsing near Amsterdam Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Morningside hospital. Pinkney then allegedly attacked Italian tourist Roberto Malaspina about 20 minutes later, stabbing him in the back and the abdomen on West 110th near Columbus Avenue. Malaspina, 27, was treated at a hospital and survived. The assailant then ran into Central Park, where he ran into lawyer Gregory Johnson, 30, — and allegedly swung a kitchen knife at him without saying a word. Johnson said he and his girlfriend flagged down cops outside the park and helped track down Pinkney, who sources said was caught with a white-handled boning knife with a 6-inch blade. Natonya Chappell, 41, is wanted for murder and aggravated assault for a homicide that happened on the 100 block of Century Road Saturday after 7 a.m. in Lee County, according to the GBI.
Chappell is 5′10 and weighs around 180 pounds. He was last seen in Bronwood. Agents say Chappell may be armed and dangerous. The GBI said Tana Mullis was shot and killed in the shooting. Her daughter was in a (miscegenous sexual) relationship with Chappell. They say the daughter and Chappell were arguing early around 2 a.m., then Chappell came back around 7 a.m., and shot Mullis. Agents also said another man was shot and is in the hospital. He’s expected to survive. On Monday, the GBI said the man shot was a family friend that was called to the home during the early morning incident. The GBI said he’s been released. The GBI said Chappell forced himself into a nearby home, forced the victim into a car and drove off. Law enforcement tried to stop the car. The victim eventually jumped out of the car before deputies lost track of the car. The GBI said Chappell ditched the car near a family member’s house in Bronwood. A neighbor told WALB that loud fighting could be heard early Saturday morning. He says that’s something he hadn’t heard before at the location. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester man charged in the attack on a Rochester police officer more than two years, rejected a plea deal Wednesday and will face trial.
Keith Williams is charged in the attack on Officer Denny Wright back in October 2019 on Peck Street in Rochester.
During the attack, Officer Wright suffered severe injuries which caused him to lose his sight. He underwent surgery on the day of the attack and spent the next three weeks receiving treatment at local medical facilities. Williams is charged with attempted aggravated murder and aggravated assault of a police officer and was held without bail. In court Wednesday, Williams rejected a plea deal that would have sent him to prison for 25 years. If convicted in trial, he faces 40 years to life. Williams was deemed competent to stand trial in August 2020 after a judge heard evidence from doctors and psychiatrists. There was a large showing of support from fellow officers in court Wednesday, including an appearance from Wright himself. Wright is a 20-plus year veteran of the force and is well respected for his community outreach, which includes dancing with Rochester City School District students in his wife’s classroom. Wright’s wife, Sonia Lagares-Wright, is an RCSD teacher who won a Golden Apple award in 2017. In an interview with News 8’s Adam Chodak in early 2020, Officer Wright spoke about the challenges of overcoming the injuries and what’s next for himself and his family. “I’ve been doing exceptional considering the circumstance that I’m currently in, it’s a big learning curve to all-of-the-sudden-loss of eyesight, but it is a doable situation and I’m moving forward and learning every day,” Wright said during the interview last month. A registered sex offender pleaded guilty in Georgia to killing two women and having sex with one of their bodies, prosecutors said Wenesday.
Dennis Lane, 42, entered the guilty plea Tuesday for fatally shooting Mirsha Victor, 23, in his Stockbridge home last July and then having sex with his co-worker’s dead body before disposing of it, District Attorney Darius Pattillo told The Post.
He is also accused of fatally shooting Conteshia McCoy, 19, sometime last year between mid-February and early April before concealing her body, authorities said. “Mr. Lane, you forfeited your right to live in a civilized society,” Judge Brian Amero told the convicted felon following Lane’s guilty plea in Henry County Superior Court to two counts of malice murder, necrophilia and other charges. Amero sentenced Lane to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. Friends and relatives of Victor and McCoy had earlier asked Amero to dole out maximum sentences to Lane, Patillo said. “The crimes committed by this individual were heartless and vile,” the district attorney said. “I am unable to comprehend this level of depravity and wickedness.” After gunning down Victor in his home, Lane dumped the young woman’s body behind a Henry County shopping center, WAGA reported. Both corpses were discovered at the same time. Lane was arrested on July 9, one day after Victor was reported missing from the Panthersville area. He was charged with necrophilia after graphic video footage was found on his cellphone, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Months earlier, Lane had also dumped McCoy’s body in the same area where he left Victor, WAGA reported. Two other co-defendants, Cleounsee Fisher, 41, and Ronisha Preckwinkle, 40, still face charges of malice murder and other counts in Victor’s slaying, Patillo said. Lane, a registered sex offender in Illinois, had previously served 17 years in prison before moving to Georgia, WAGA reported. The convicted sexual predator was released on parole in May 2019 after being convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl in Illinois, according to the Journal-Constitution. During the trial, a doctor testified that the 3-year-old had bruises on his face the size of an adult's hand and the jury was shown photos where the child's eyes were so swollen they were almost shut. A 21-year-old Warren man who pleaded no contest to second-degree murder for the death of his infant son wants to withdraw his plea and potentially go to trial on first-degree murder charges.
Laquan Williams’ public defender, Gary Kennedy, on Wednesday also was granted a request by Judge Edward Servitto of Macomb County Circuit Court to withdraw from the case due to “a breakdown in the attorney-client relationship that’s not going to be repairable,” Kennedy said.

A Birmingham woman has pleaded guilty to perjury after authorities say she lied during the trial of her ex-husband, who was charged with capital murder in the 2017 shooting death of her boyfriend.
Sulena Beasley, 35, issued the guilty plea Monday before Jefferson County Circuit Judge Shanta Craig Owens. Beasley, who also goes by the name Sulena Coleman, received a suspended sentence of one year and one day with two years of probation. "It makes me and many other students feel unsafe and disrespected to not get any information about such a big threat," she added. Matthew Harris was identified Monday night as the former UCLA lecturer and postdoctoral fellow who made threats to the philosophy department and wrote an 800-page manifesto containing racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic remarks. "The material includes a video entitled ‘UCLA Philosophy Mass Shooting’ and an 800-page manifesto with specific threats towards some members of our department," a UCLA email sent to students this week said, according to the LA Times. The email identified Harris as the former lecturer who sent the threats. The school canceled in-person classes for Tuesday in response, holding virtual lectures instead. On Wednesday, January 12, at approximately 8:00pm, the Tickfaw Police Department responded to a residence on Highway 442 East where the victim, 37 YO Tiffany Schultz of Hammond, was found deceased.
The Tickfaw PD determined it was a homicide and began investigating with the assistance of the Hammond Police Department and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office. Through the investigation, detectives determined the victim had been shot and killed by 28 YO Tyrail Tate of Kentwood. An arrest warrant for second degree murder was issued, and Tate was arrested on Sunday night, January 16, by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Tickfaw PD, Hammond PD and TPSO. (Black) Fla. Man Hospitalized After Stranger Allegedly Attacks Him with Machete, Bites His Face and Robs Him
A Florida man was taken into custody Saturday after he allegedly attacked a man with a machete before biting and robbing him.
Demetrick Sanders, 45, is facing attempted felony murder and armed robbery with a deadly weapon charges in connection with the Jan. 22 attack. According to a police affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, the victim was standing outside a supermarket in Miami's West Little River neighborhood around 8:30 a.m. waiting for a ride to work when Sanders allegedly approached him. Sanders allegedly demanded money and when the victim refused, he beat him with a broomstick. "When the victim began to defend himself, [Sanders] quickly produced a machete from his waistband area, and began to strike the victim throughout the body," the police affidavit states. " [Sanders] also bit the victim in the face." After the attack, Sanders allegedly robbed him of cash and a cellphone and then ran off. According to the affidavit, the victim "suffered a large laceration on the top of his head, as well near his rib cage area" and was taken to a hospital for his injuries. On Jan. 29, the victim spotted Sanders outside the same supermarket and called police. |

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A News4 anchor was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a two-car crash on River Road in Montgomery County Saturday, the DC affiliate for the NBC network reported.
Leon Harris will be off the air during the criminal investigation, News4 said. Harris tried to leave the accident scene, but was stopped by police, the station said. Authorities said Harris failed a sobriety test, and a breathalyzer test found his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent, NBC Washington reported. ICE deports two illegal immigrants wanted for aggravated homicide in El Salvador
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Monday that it has deported two illegal immigrants who were wanted for aggravated homicide in El Salvador -- fitting in with the Biden administration’s priorities for interior enforcement.
The agency announced that the two Salvadoran nationals were deported from Alexandria, Louisiana, to San Salvador in El Salvador on an ICE charter flight and turned over to El Salvador’s Civilian National Police. According to ICE, the two men, Oscar Melkin Moreno Romero and Hernan Quintanilla Herrera, "illegally entered the U.S. without inspection on an unknown date and at an unknown location." Moreno Romero was picked up in June during a traffic stop in Texas when it was discovered that he had an active Interpol Red Notice for aggravated homicide in the Northern Triangle country. He was immediately placed into ICE custody and deportation proceedings -- before being ordered deported in November. An appeal was denied in December. Quintanilla Herrera was arrested in March by ICE fugitive operations officers in Houston after the discovery of an Interpol Red Notice for him. He was ordered removed in July, and appeal of that decision was denied in November. Both cases demonstrate how a deportation of an illegal immigrant, even those wanted in their home countries for serious crimes, can take months. |

MEXICAN-named Drive-by shooting suspects arrested 
Two men have been arrested in relation to a drive-by shooting reported last week in the Las Cruces neighborhood in central Laredo, authorities said.
Jose Albino Larrazolo, 17, and Carlos Manuel Valero, 20, were served with an arrest warrant charging him with deadly conduct, discharge of a firearm. Both have been released on bond, according to Webb County Jail records.
On Jan. 24, Laredo police officers responded to the intersection of San Pedro Street and Hendricks Avenue. A man approached an officer saying that his house had been shot at. Officers discovered that a residence and a vehicle in the 900 block of East Olive Street had been struck by gunfire. Gary Dean Robinson, 59, of North Las Vegas was behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger when he ran a red light at more than 100 mph at Commerce Street and Cheyenne Avenue Saturday afternoon crashing into several cars. Four children and four adults were killed. Seven members of a family were in one vehicle. According to court records, Robinson pleaded guilty on Jan. 20 for speeding up to 10 miles over the speed limit on Dec. 15, 2021. He paid a $150 fine. A 61-year-old Brooklyn pastor was stabbed to death by her adult son in their shared Brooklyn home over the weekend, cops said.
Tracey Sydnor, the executive pastor of Upper Room Baptist Church in Bedford-Stuyvesant, was stabbed multiple times in a domestic dispute with her 40-year-old son Kenji Francis inside their home on Wyona Street near Livonia Avenue in New Lots just after 2 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.
Sydnor was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Francis was taken into custody on scene and charged with murder, as well as an unlawful activity-dangerous weapon rap, authorities said early Monday. AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — Three Augusta men are facing murder charges following an assault in Texas.
The incident happened at Fitness Connection in Mesquite, Texas on Saturday, January 22.
Authorities say a security guard, 43-year-old Patrick Prejean, was assaulted by multiple men. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Twenty-year-old Xzaviour Williams, 26-year-old Cameron Walton, and 26-year-old Darius Williams are all charged with Murder. "We’re working to get Darius Williams’ mugshot."

(RICHMOND COUNTY, Georgia) – A woman has been arrested for approaching a Richmond County elementary school with a handgun.
According to Richmond County School Safety and Security Officers, a concerned citizen observed Shaniel Eladija Landburg approaching Wheeless Road Elementary School with a handgun and called the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers say they were able to locate Landburg outside the school and she still had the handgun with her. According to authorities, since Landburg has been warned previously regarding having a weapon on a school campus, she was arrested and taken to jail. |

(Black) Man charged after crashing car into ex-girlfriend’s apartment in Winterville, damaging three units 
WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Greenville Police say a man is being charged after crashing his vehicle into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment Thursday night.
Greenville Police responded to a call to Sunshine Lane in Winterville Thursday night. When officers arrived, they found Wilfred Sutton had driven his car into his former girlfriend’s apartment, damaging three apartment units in total.
Officer James B. Johnson confirmed with WNCT that a neighbor heard a car revving its engine, and when they looked outside they saw Sutton drive directly into the complex. Neighbors told 9OYS around 7:18 p.m. Thursday their Ring Video Doorbell caught the motion and a ‘booming’ noise as Sutton crashed into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. He then backed up, hitting the ex’s car sending it across the parking lot hitting a neighbors car. Sutton then drove his vehicle into the building again, this time going clear through the building and crashing into a third apartment located behind the first two units. Sutton is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, injury to real property and driving while intoxicated. Officers said this is a domestic-related incident. No injuries were reported by GPD, however, a neighbor told 9OYS a man from the third unit hit was driven to the hospital after the incident by another neighbor later in the night. |

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A 20-year-old man was killed and four others were hospitalized in critical condition from an exchange of gunfire between two cars in unincorporated Winter Haven early Sunday morning, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
The deceased man and three of the injured — a 26-year-old man, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy — had left a bowling alley in the same car around 1:13 a.m., Judd said. As the group drove north on Buckeye Loop Road toward Martin Luther King Blvd on the outskirts of Winter Haven, a dark sedan that followed them pulled up beside the car and the two vehicles engaged in a “running gun battle,” Judd said at a news conference Sunday. “And what we find (in the car) is not good. What we found was a 20-year-old young man, still a kid, dead,” Judd said. “He was shot eight times. Did you hear what I said? He was shot eight times.” Judd said that among the other occupants, the 26-year-old was shot eight times, the 17-year-old was shot twice and the other 20-year-old man was shot between seven and eight times. The man who was shot and killed was the front-seat passenger of the car with an “AR strapped around him” and “a gun in his waist,” Judd said. |

Nathan Humphrey was shot as deputies tried to arrest him on Monday night, two days after authorities said he shot and killed 59-year-old Robin Baucom.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed Tuesday the identity of the man who was shot and killed Monday night by deputies near Atascocita High School. HCSO said Nathan Humphrey was shot as deputies tried to arrest him. Investigators believe Humphrey, 28, shot and killed a Cracker Barrel manager last weekend. Deputies said Humphrey was out on bond at the time of the shootings and also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant. Baucom had worked at Cracker Barrel for 34 years. According to investigators, just after 6 a.m., a suspect in a newer model Dodge Charger got out of the passenger side of the car and tried to steal an employee’s purse at the Cracker Barrel in the 14800 block of the North Freeway. The business was not open at the time and authorities said the employee was outside ringing a bell to get in when Baucom tried to push back on the door and was shot. Baucom was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Robin leaves behind a husband, three kids and three grandkids. On Monday night, Gonzalez said Humphrey was spotted by authorities in the 17700 block of West Lake Houston Parkway. Deputies said they got out of their vehicle and approached Humphrey, who was on foot. When they called out his name, Humphrey started running, authorities said. Deputies said Humphrey appeared to have a weapon and was acting like he was pointing it at them. That's when authorities said the deputies opened fire. HCSO said two deputies were involved in the shooting and Humphrey was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead. BLACK-ON-WHITE: Denver police name Joe Michael Ervin as serial killer suspect in 4 cold cases through DNA evidence
The Denver Police Department on Friday named deceased Joe Michael Ervin as a murder suspect linked to four cold cases dating back to the 1970s, according to local reports.
Four Colorado women — Madeleine Furey-Livaudais, Delores Barajas, Gwendolyn Harris and Antoinette Parks — were killed between 1978 and 1980, though the suspect was not identified until Friday after DNA testing linked Ervin, who is now deceased, to all four cases.
"When the lives of our community members are tragically taken, we are committed to doing everything possible to identify and arrest the person responsible," Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said in a Friday statement. "While we recognize that identifying the suspect will not bring these ladies back, we hope it provides closure and healing for their loved ones and the Denver community." Furey-Livaudais was the first victim killed in December 1978, when she was a 33-year-old mother of two. An unknown man came to her door, confronted her and then stabbed her to death, according to a press release. "Madeleine grew up in central Florida, one of five sisters, and was an avid swimmer, continuing to swim throughout her life. She attended high school in Florida and graduated from Tulane University. Prior to getting married, she led an adventurous life, traveling to Africa and Europe as part of her work as an editor on the beloved children’s magazine, Ranger Rick," her family said in a statement. Their statement continued: "Her greatest joys in life came after the birth of her two daughters, whom she cherished beyond anything. She was a loving wife and mother of two at the time of her death. The Livaudais and Furey families are grateful for receiving answers after all these years and express their gratitude for the continued work put in by all the individuals who ever worked to solve this case." Barajas was killed in August 1980, when she was a 53-year-old wife, mother and grandmother. She was attacked and fatally stabbed while walking to work. Barajas was visiting family in Denver that summer and working at a hotel downtown. The Sunday she was killed was supposed to be her last day of work before she returned home, according to her family, who expressed appreciation for all those who helped solve the case, according to the press release. Harris was found stabbed to death in December 1980, when she was a 27-year-old mother. Harris was last seen at a lounge in downtown Denver about a block away from Ervin's residence. "Because of the decision of another to take life with no regard, the 1980 murder of Gwendolyn Harris was devastating and unimaginable to the family. Gwen will forever be in our hearts and always our JOY," Harris' family said in a statement. They described Harris as a bright, soft-spoken and athletic woman. In January 1981, Evin allegedly killed a 17-year-old girl named Antoinette Parks when she was six-to-seven months pregnant. Parks was found stabbed to death in Adams County. Parks was the youngest of six and a high school student in Aurora. She loved music, and her family described her as "caring, determined and loved children." Her family said Parks likely would have gone on to work in childcare or education as an adult and was excited to have children of her own one day. Ervin was also apprehended for the June 1981 murder of Aurora Police Officer Debra Sue Corr. The officer contacted Ervin about a traffic violation while on patrol and attempted to handcuff him. Ervin took Corr's weapon and fatally shot her. He also shot Aurora Police Explorer Scout Glen Spies in the back when Spies witnessed the incident and tried to intervene. Ervin was later apprehended at his home. While in custody in July 1981, Ervin committed suicide. The Denver Police Crime Laboratory linked the four cold cases using DNA evidence between 2013 and 2018. After conducting a familial search, the crime laboratory identified Ervin and exhumed his remains in Texas for a direct DNA comparison to the crime scene evidence. "In some cold cases, the passage of years and decades makes solving cases more difficult, but where DNA evidence exists, the evolution of science and technology has made it possible to identify perpetrators, seek justice for victims and provide answers to victims’ loved ones," Dr. Greggory LaBerge, director of the Denver Police Forensics and Evidence Division, said. BRAINTREE (CBS) — The man behind a deadly shooting at the South Shore Plaza last weekend has been identified as 19-year-old Julius Hammond-Desir, of Maynard, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. A murder arrest warrant has been issued for Hammond-Desir on Friday.
On January 22, Dijoun Beasley, 26, of Dorchester, was shot while shopping on the main floor of the mall. He died one day later.
The D.A.’s office released a photo of Hammond-Desir and described him as 5’5 and of medium build.
Police believe Hammond-Desir may have changed his appearance since the shooting.
“The allegations are that Mr. Hammond-Desir shot an unarmed man to death at close range, so we urge you not to approach him but to call 911 if you see him,” said D.A. Michael Morrissey in a statement.

Joshua Dartavian-Da Moore Gooden, 21, was charged in Dakota County District Court with one count of second-degree attempted murder and one count of second-degree assault.
The shooting happened following an argument between Moore Gooden and the male victim at a Marathon gas station on Mendota Road about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Responding medics had difficulty treating the injured because a large group had assembled and were interfering and refusing to leave. Officers from the surrounding communities of South St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Mendota Heights, Eagan, Washington County, Cottage Grove, Woodbury, State Patrol and St. Paul police departments responded to help with crowd control. The criminal complaint said the male victim had a tattoo on his head of a gang member “Amoe” that was shot and killed in St. Paul in 2019 and Moore Gooden referred to the gang member in a social media post. Neither victims were named in the complaint, but the male victim was referred to by his nickname “Flex.” According to the complaint, “Flex” and Moore Gooden had been arguing at the nearby Eagle Point apartments. Moore Gooden threatened to shoot him. Both pulled into the gas station and continued the argument. The female victim was in the passenger seat of “Flex’s” car. The two were in a relationship, the complaint states. Moore Gooden allegedly pulled out a gun and shot toward “Flex” six times, hitting the man in the abdomen and arm and the woman in the lower leg through the car door. After the shooting, Moore Gooden and others in his vehicle drove to St. Cloud for a week before returning to West St. Paul. Witnesses in Moore Gooden’s car said “Flex” also had a gun, but another witness said only Moore Gooden fired a gun, charges say. Police located six casings on scene – two casings by pump 1, four more were northwest of those. There were two bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle – one in the front passenger door and the other was in the rear passenger driver’s side window. A Wildwood man jailed since a crash this past summer has been charged in an attack on a fellow inmate, who is behind bars in the death of a local woman.
Keon Lamar Marsh, 21, continues to be held on multiple charges at the Sumter County Detention Center since the crash in July in Wildwood. He is facing two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and two counts of fleeing law enforcement. Marsh also pleaded not guilty Friday to a felony charge in connection with an attack last year on a fellow inmate at the jail. Marsh, who stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 250 pounds, is charged with attacking 20-year-old Tyler Ryan Hirsch, who has been charged with homicide, sexual assault with a weapon and armed burglary in connection with the 2018 death of 33-year-old Melody Victoria “Tori” Bennett of Bushnell. |

The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed to CBS News on Saturday they have released aspiring footballer Damon 'Demon' Arnette. The 25-year-old was arrested in Las Vegas on Friday.
Arnette is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of carrying or concealing a weapon without a permit and two drug possession charges, records from the Clark County Detention Center show.
His arrest came after a dispute involving a gun was reported at Park MGM on Las Vegas Boulevard shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, according to CBS affiliate KLAS. Markell Surrell, 20, also was arrested and charged with carrying or concealing a weapon without a permit. The two made bail Saturday morning and are scheduled to appear in court on March 29, KLAS reports. Arnette had recently joined the Chiefs — who are playing in the AFC Championship this weekend — after the Las Vegas Raiders cut him in November over a video he made in which he flashed a gun and allegedly threatened to kill someone. On the same day, a Uruguayan national was caught trying to enter the U.S. He had a 2007 arrest for Loitering for Sex under 18-years-old in Georgia, for which he was sentenced to 12 months probation. Separately, agents arrested eight foreign nationals from Romania, El Salvador and Honduras who were identified as being members of transnational criminal organizations. One of the Romanian nationals has an active extradition warrant. They are the latest public safety threats to be encountered coming across the border during a migrant crisis that has been ongoing for nearly a year and that has overwhelmed authorities at the border – leading to concerns about who it is who has managed to get past Border Patrol agents as well. There were more than 178,000 migrant encounters in December, and there were approximately 1.7 million migrant encounters in FY 2021. The man charged with shooting three Houston police officers on Thursday had a warrant issued for him in connection with a December robbery, according to court records.
In December, Roland Caballero, 31, had an open warrant issued for an unlawful carrying a weapon charge and an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon charge, court records show. The warrant was in connection to a Dec. 28 robbery at an auto shop in Katy, the records indicate.
Caballero is now charged with three counts of attempted capital murder of a police officer and one count of aggravated robbery, Houston police said in a news release. Caballero was already under investigation when a witness told police prior to the shooting that the suspect was producing gun components called switches that turn semi-automatic pistols into fully automatic ones, according to KTRK. Houston Police Officers on Thursday responded to a threat-to-life call and were provided his name and vehicle he was driving. When they located the vehicle, the officers attempted a traffic stop, which is when the suspect fled in the vehicle and crashed it, police said in a news release. The officers then pulled up behind the suspect to conduct a felony traffic stop, which is when the suspect got out of the vehicle and fired several shots at the officers, who returned fire and possibly struck the suspect in the neck area, police said. Three officers were struck by the suspect's gunfire, while the suspect fled on foot, police said. He then carjacked a female citizen nearby and fled in her vehicle, police said. According to KTRK, the suspect used two guns with homemade parts in the Thursday shootout, which were later retrieved by police. One of the modified guns was found in the car Caballero was driving and a second gun was found as he was running away from the scene, police said. Other officers then went to the suspect's residence and observed the stolen vehicle parked outside. SWAT team officers made the scene and attempted to make contact with the suspect but Caballero ignored them and barricaded himself inside the residence, according to police. Police said the suspect then fired shots at SWAT officers while they were on the scene, and officers returned fire. The suspect surrendered himself to officers hours late, police said. The suspect remains hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound to the neck, Police Chief Troy Finner said in a media briefing on Thursday. The three officers who were wounded were transferred to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center and are in stable condition. Officers N. Gadson and D. Kansas woman who led all-female ISIS battalion faces federal charges, prosecutors say 
An American woman, originally from Kansas, has been arrested after organizing and leading an all-female military battalion on behalf of ISIS, the Justice Department said Saturday.
Allison Fluke-Ekren, 42, was first apprehended in Syria and transferred into the custody of the FBI Friday. She now faces federal charges of providing and conspiring to provide material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization.
According to the criminal complaint filed in 2019 and unsealed following Fluke-Ekren's arrest, she joined the foreign terrorist organization and started conducting multiple terrorism-related activities on its behalf since at least 2014 until approximately 2017. These alleged activities include planning an attack on a U.S. college campus and serving as the appointed leader of an ISIS military battalion as well as training women and children on how to use guns and bombs, according to the complaint. Fluke-Ekren, who is fluent in English and Arabic, is also being accused of translating extremist doctrine. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knox County jury has returned a murder conviction in the 2020 shooting death of a woman found in an East Knoxville alleyway.
Robert Atkins, 40, was convicted of second-degree murder in the February 2020 shooting of 29-year-old Kaitlyne Warwick. Her body was found in the Mechanicsville neighborhood in an alley between Iredell Avenue and Pickett Avenue. Atkins was arrested at a residence in the 1200 block of Pickett Avenue. Investigators determined Warwick was shot at the residence before her body was moved to the alleyway. A sentencing date has been set for Feb. 28. Atkins has been banned from numerous Knoxville public housing properties through the years for causing disturbances. Records show he's also attacked and beaten several women, at least one of whom was pregnant with his child at the time, records show. Sometimes charges were dropped because the victim didn't want to press charges. He has a 20-year arrest record including assault and drug charges in Knoxville. Atkins will be sentenced on Feb. 28 in this case. The jury started deliberating Wednesday evening. He was also charged with second-degree murder for giving drugs, including fentanyl, to a 37-year-old woman. The drugs later killed her, and Atkins will face trial for that incident too. (Black) Man found guilty in disturbing Dauphin County kidnapping, rape case
DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A Dauphin County jury has convicted a man for kidnapping and raping an unconscious woman.
Ronald Jenkins, formerly of Harrisburg, was convicted after police charged him in connection to an incident that occurred on Feb. 14-15, 2017.
On February 15, 2017, a 27-year-old woman reported to Swatara Township Police that she had awoken at the Roadway Inn naked from the waist down and had no idea how she had gotten to the motel. She explained to the police that her last memory was from the night before when she was at her home in Lower Paxton Township with Jenkins (a family friend) and her husband. An investigation by Lower Paxton Police Detective Gregory Langley revealed that the woman was attacked after her husband went to bed that night. She testified before the jury that Jenkins struck her in the face and slammed her body into a wall causing a hole in the wall. The victim said she had no recollection after that until waking up in the motel room occupied by the Jenkins. Police were able to secure surveillance from the motel showing Jenkins carrying the victim’s lifeless body being carried into the room over his shoulder. During telephone calls between Jenkins and the woman’s husband, intercepted by the police, Jenkins repeatedly asserted that nothing happened in the motel room, referring to himself as an “innocent bystander”. In late 2018, police received results from the Pennsylvania State Police DNA Laboratory which matched the Jenkins DNA profile with DNA obtained using swabs taken from the victim at the hospital. Jenkins was apprehended in New Jersey in July 2019. |

The lawsuit says the woman, a professional choreographer and music artist from Los Angeles, was talking on FaceTime with a friend when Brown took the friend’s phone and “told her that he had heard about her music and urged her to head over to Diddy’s home on Star Island as soon as possible.” |

Republicans ask DOJ to probe ‘racial discrimination’ against whites in COVID treatment
A group of House Republicans has demanded the Justice Department tackle what the lawmakers call “shocking displays of racial discrimination” in states like New York that encourage hospitals to consider a patient’s race when deciding if they should receive COVID-19 treatments. “Racism is an evil that our country has fought against for generations, and we must stand up for the rights of all Americans to receive equal protection under the law,” Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Dan Bishop of North Carolina, Darrell Issa of California and 13 others wrote in a Friday letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland. “We seek information about the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) efforts to protect the rights of Americans from discriminatory actions by state governments during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the legislators wrote. The Food and Drug Administration said last month that “race or ethnicity” was one of the “medical conditions or factors” that could be considered in distribution of sotrovimab, the only monoclonal antibody treatment that’s used against the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The New York Department of Health separately stated in a Dec. 27 memo to health care providers that a patient’s race should be considered as part of broader “criteria” in distribution of oral antiviral pills such as Paxlovid that reduce the severity of COVID-19, with the department noting the supply “will be extremely limited initially.” “Non-white race or Hispanic/Latino ethnicity should be considered a risk factor, as longstanding systemic health and social inequities have contributed to an increased risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19,” the state agency said. |

The robbery and killing of an off-duty Los Angeles police officer this month was allegedly the work of Florencia 13 (F13), a Latino street gang largely controlled by the Mexican Mafia.
LAPD officer Fernando Arroyos, 27, was gunned down in South Los Angeles during an attempted robbery while he was looking at houses with his girlfriend Jan. 10. Arroyos and his assailants exchanged gunfire and he was hit once, federal authorities said.
Arroyos collapsed in an alley and died at a hospital. Luis Alfredo De La Rosa Rios, 29; Ernesto Cisneros, 22; Jesse Contreras, 34; and Rios’ girlfriend, 18-year-old Haylee Marie Grisham, were charged in federal court with violent crime in aid of racketeering, which carries a potential death penalty and minimum sentence of life in federal prison without the possibility of parole. The three men are members of F13, Grisham is a gang "associate", and they carried out the attack to increase and maintain their position within the gang, the Justice Department said. According to The Los Angeles Times, F13 was formed in South Los Angeles in the 1950s and is largely controlled by the Mexican Mafia prison gang, which is made up of about 140 men, most of them incarcerated. "F13 is a large, multi-generational street gang that previously has been the subject of federal prosecutions, including two large racketeering cases," the DOJ said. 3 indicted in fire at Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed
ATLANTA (WGCL/CBS46) — Three people have been indicted by a Fulton County grand jury for allegedly setting fire to the Wendy’s restaurant where 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by Atlanta police on June 12, 2020.
The night after Brooks was killed, the restaurant on University Avenue SW was set on fire in protest. After the fire, armed protesters moved into the area and set up roadblocks and barricades to make it difficult for police to get into the neighborhood. It wasn’t until several days later that police were able to remove the roadblocks and barricades and clear the property. According to the indictment, 35-year-old John Wesley Wade, 31-year-old Natalie Hanna White and 24-year-old Chisom Kingston were charged with the offense of arson in the first degree (two counts) and conspiracy to commit arson in the first degree. White, who was arrested June 23, 2020, reportedly knew Brooks before his death. Wade and Kingston were arrested July 2, 2020. The three suspects were released on bond after their arrests. Brooks had fallen asleep in his car while in the drive-thru at the fast-food restaurant. After police officers responded to the restaurant, he was shot and killed by Atlanta Police Officer Garrett Rolfe during a confrontation. Body-camera video showed Brooks hit Officer Devin Brosnan and grabbed his Taser. He was reportedly aiming the Taser at Rolfe when he was shot. Rolfe was fired immediately after the shooting by (negress) then-Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, but was reinstated in 2021. |

McALESTER, Okla. — An Oklahoma man, who had offered to be executed by firing squad, was put to death via lethal i njection on Thursday morning, officials said.
Donald Anthony Grant, 46, was pronounced dead at 10:16 a.m. CST at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, a state corrections spokesman announced.
The execution began at 10:03 a.m. and Grant was declared unconscious at 10:08 a.m. before his death at 10:16 a.m., said Department of Corrections Director Scott Crow. There were 18 witnesses to the execution, including news reporters, prosecutors, a police chief and loved ones of Grant and his victims. When asked if he had a final statement, Grant rambled for more than two minutes with disjointed phrases such as, "Yo I got this," "It's nothing" and "I've done this before." His microphone was cut off but Grant kept speaking even as the execution unfolded. At one point, tears appeared to be rolling down his face. Grant killed Brenda McElyea, 29, and Felicia Suzette Smith, 43, so there’d be no witnesses to his robbery at the La Quinta Inn in Del City in July 2001. "Although Donald Grant's execution does not bring Brenda back, it allows us all to finally move forward knowing that justice was served," Shirl Pilcher, a sister of McElyea, told reporters. An 18-year-old arrested in connection to a deadly mass shooting in Austin, Texas, has been released back onto the streets while he awaits trial without having to pay any bail.
Jeremiah Tabb, 18, was indicted on a charge of tampering with evidence by disposing of an illegal gun involved in a shooting that killed one person and injured 14 in Austin in June 2021 and was released on a personal bond on January 20, according to KVUE. While Tabb was not required to put down any money in order to be released, the judge did attach a $150,000 condition on his release meaning he would have to pay if he does not attend his future court hearings. Tabb, a gang member who allegedly instigated the shooting and fired at a rival gang member, was indicted in December 2021 for allegedly disposing of the weapon that shooting suspect De’Ondre Jermirris White used in the mass shooting in downtown Austin that killed 25-year-old Douglas Kantor, a Ford Motor Co. employee from Michigan who was in Austin to celebrate earning his master's degree, and left 14 people injured.Sixth Street is the heart of Austin's live music and entertainment scene. Tabb’s release comes as "progressive" (commie) Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza has faced criticism since taking office last year for releasing violent criminals back onto the streets and declining to prosecute certain crimes. BLACK-ON-WHITE: San Francisco police announce possible new victim in 'Doodler' serial killer case, raise reward to $200,000
San Francisco police on Thursday revealed a sixth victim may be linked to the 1970s serial killer who targeted the city's gay community and doubled reward money in hopes of ramping up efforts to solve the decades-old cold case.
The "Doodler" was previously suspected in at least five homicides of gay, white men between January 1974 and June 1975, police said in 2019. But police said Thursday that a potential sixth victim has been tied to the killer, exactly 48 years after the first victim was killed. The possibility of a sixth victim was raised during a series in the San Francisco Chronicle last year, which followed cold case detectives Dan Cunningham and Dan Dedet as they investigated the death of Warren Andrews. The department confirmed it now believes Andrews is connected to the serial killer case. "On April 27, 1975, Andrews was a victim of an assault at Land’s End," the department said in a release. "Andrews was found unconscious and never regained consciousness dying several weeks later." Investigators have spent years attempting to identify the killer, who they believe targeted men at gay clubs and restaurants around San Francisco and often had sex with them before attacking them. ATMORE, Ala. — An Alabama inmate convicted for the shotgun slaying of a Selma man in 1996 was executed by lethal injection on Thursday night.
Matthew Reeves, 43, was pronounced dead at 9:24 p.m. CST at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore. He had no final words as he was led to the gurney in the execution chamber, AL.com reported. By a 5-4 margin, the U.S. Supreme Court lifted its stay of Reeves’ execution Thursday evening, allowing Alabama prison officials to proceed, the website reported. Reeves was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Willie Johnson, who was fatally shot in the neck by a shotgun blast in Selma, The Associated Press reported. Johnson had picked up Reeves and several others on the side of a rural highway on Nov. 27, 1996, the news outlet reported. Johnson was robbed of $360. Later, Reeves, who was 18 at the time, attended a party where he danced and mimicked Johnson’s death convulsions,authorities said. |

Migrants with criminal records among those being released in the US: ICE agent
Illegal immigrants with criminal records are being released into the US, an ICE agent told Fox News Thursday in a report that included new video of a busload of adult, male migrants getting dropped off at a Texas airport.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, who’s involved in the migrant release operation, said it’s been going on discreetly since the spring, Fox News reported. The unidentified official said some of the migrants who’ve been released have criminal records for misdemeanors including assault, drunken driving, drug possession and illegal re-entry, correspondent Bill Melugin said. ICE didn’t deny the releases, saying they are done on a case-by-case basis after all factors are taken into consideration, Melugin said.

He’s accused of selling 73 guns, 59 of them loaded, to an undercover cop between July 17, 2020 and Dec. 22, 2021 — while apparently keeping up a 3.5 GPA for at least part of that time. A “merit page” from his university states that he was one of 2,000 students named to the dean’s list for academic achievement during the Fall 2020 semester.

COATESVILLE, Pa. (CBS) — Coatesville police are trying to find a man who they say shot two people after a woman bumped into him at the grocery store. This all started Wednesday morning at a market on East Lincoln Highway.
Police said a woman bumped into Moenell Coleman, 26, at the Coatesville Market around 9:50 a.m. When she apologized, Coleman threatened to shoot her. Coleman then followed her out of the store and to her home a short distance away. When she got home, Coleman knocked on the front door and shot the woman when she opened it. She was hit in the leg. The woman’s brother was also shot and is currently at Paoli Hospital. Coleman is wanted on two counts of attempted murder. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous and said he has ties to Norristown and Wilmington, Delaware. Anyone who knows Coleman’s whereabouts should call police.
Cops bust suspect who allegedly killed man in Bronx bathroom squabble
The suspect who allegedly gunned down another man during a bathroom squabble in an unlicensed Bronx bar last year has been nabbed, police said.Damon Bailey, 40, was busted Tuesday in connection to the deadly May 9 shooting of Shamar Watt, 30, caught on surveillance video, police said. The two men were waiting to use the unisex bathroom inside the crowded hotspot on Third Avenue near East 184th Street in Belmont when Watt let two women cut in front of them in line, police said. After the women came out, Bailey and Watt argued about who was next, cops said. Moments later, the gunman walked up to Watt on the dance floor and fired twice at “near-point-blank range,” striking him in the head, according to police. Watt died two days later at Saint Barnabas Hospital, police said.

Gun rights group sues to stop groundbreaking San Jose gun law
The National Association for Gun Rights filed a lawsuit against the city of San Jose, California, seeking to end a rule passed by city council which aims to reduce gun harm.
The rule, passed on Tuesday, requires gun owners to purchase liability insurance and pay an annual "gun harm reduction" fee. Gun owners will also be required to pay city cost recovery fees related to the program's implementation. "Liability insurance can reduce the number of gun incidents by encouraging safer behavior and it can also provide coverage for losses and damages related to gun incidents," the bill states. In the lawsuit, the National Association for Gun Rights claimed the new rule is unconstitutional. |

BLACK-ON-WHITE: BLACK Milwaukee man charged with homicide in fatal shooting of WHITE local immigration attorney
MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee man was charged with homicide for shooting and killing an area immigration attorney in September.
Theodore Malcome Edgecomb, 30, was charged with first degree reckless homicide - use of a dangerous weapon; felony bail jumping; and misdemeanor bail jumping. If Edgecomb is convicted of all three charges, he could spend up to 71 years behind bars and up to $10,000 in fines. As TMJ4 News has reported, immigration attorney Jason Cleereman, 54, was shot to death on North Holton Street on Sept. 22. Milwaukee police released photos of a suspect with a bike, which eventually led to Edgecomb's identification. Prosecutors concluded in a criminal complaint that Cleereman was in a car with his wife when they had to swerve out of the way of Edgecomb, who was riding a bike. Edgecomb approached them, punched Cleereman in the face and, when Cleereman followed him and confronted him about it, Edgecomb allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot and killed Cleereman, according to the criminal complaint. A warrant has now been issued for Edgecomb's arrest. The criminal complaint states that Milwaukee police officers were called to Holton Street on Sept. 22, where they found Cleereman lying face down on the staircase leading to Water Street. Officers observed that Cleereman had a gunshot wound above his left eyebrow and that he had died from the injury. The officers also found a single 9mm round near the body, the complaint states. Blood was found on the window of the victim's car, parked nearby. A medical examiner concluded that Cleereman had died from the gunshot wound. The examiner further observed blunt force injuries to his face. Cleereman's wife told investigators that she was driving with her husband near Humboldt and Brady Street when she was forced to swerve to avoid hitting a bicyclist. With the windows down, Cleereman uttered, "what the heck," the complaint states. That's when the bicyclist, identified in the criminal complaint as Edgecomb, pulled alongside and asked Cleereman, "are you talking to me?" Cleereman said he was. The complaint states Edgecomb then punched Cleereman, causing him to bleed. Edgecomb continued biking along Brady. Cleereman's wife told prosecutors that they followed the suspect in their vehicle, and at Holton, Cleereman got out of the car. Cleereman approached the suspect, who still had his bike. Cleereman's wife says she saw the suspect had a firearm and yelled to her husband, but it appears he did not hear her. Cleereman's wife says the suspect drew the gun and fired, hitting Cleereman, according to the complaint. She says that "the suspect looked at her, as though he was contemplating shooting her." The suspect then left with his bike, according to prosecutors. Following the shooting, Milwaukee police found surveillance footage from several locations. That footage confirmed Edgecomb's interactions with the Cleeremans, according to the complaint. The video was shown to one Milwaukee police officer, Patrick Tivnan, who works as the primary bicycle mechanic for the department. He recognized the suspect's bike as a GMC Denali, due to its "unique grip shifter, drop handlebars, saddle, as well as similar graphics on the top tube and downtube," the complaint states. Stills from the video were also shown to family members of the suspect, who confirmed his identity, prosecutors say. Surveillance footage further shows a moment when Edgecomb appears to pull his shirt up over a bulge in his waistband, consistent with a firearm, according to police. The footage showed Edgecomb allegedly arrive at his residence in the City of Milwaukee. Law enforcement then executed a search warrant at the home, where they found the bike and a firearm loaded with 9mm rounds. Edgecomb was previously charged with several misdemeanors including carrying a concealed weapon in Waukesha County, and charged with similar crimes in Milwaukee County. HISPANIC Man suspected of killing Texas deputy arrested in Mexico 
A fugitive suspected of ambushing and gunning down a Texas deputy constable during a traffic stop over the weekend in Houston has been taken into custody in Mexico, authorities said Wednesday.
Oscar Rosales, 51, has been charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of Cpl. Charles Galloway of Harris County Constable Precinct 5. His arrest comes amid a string of shootings of law enforcement officers across the country in the past few days, including two New York City police officers who were killed while answering a domestic violence call Friday and a sheriff's deputy in Milwaukee who was shot multiple times following a traffic stop early Wednesday morning. Rosales was the subject of a nationwide manhunt until he was taken into custody at a hotel in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, a border city about 575 miles west of Houston, U.S. Marshal Deputy Cameron Welch told ABC station KTRK in Houston. His capture was coordinated by the U.S. Marshals' Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and its Fugitive Task Force in conjunction with Mexican authorities, officials said. U.S. Marshals are working to extradite him back to Harris County. On Monday, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner identified Rosales as the suspect who allegedly gunned down Galloway early Sunday when the deputy pulled over a white Toyota Avalon in a residential neighborhood of southwest Houston. Finner said investigators obtained video of Rosales getting out of the car with an "assault-type weapon" and opening fire on Galloway without warning as the deputy was still seated in his patrol vehicle. He said Galloway, who was shot multiple times, did not have an opportunity to defend himself. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said Rosales' wife, Reina Marquez, and her brother, Henri Mauricio Pereira Marquez, have both been arrested on charges of tampering with evidence. Hispanic Texas brothers fatally beat stepfather for sexually abusing 9-year-old sister, police say
Two Texas brothers and their friend were arrested for allegedly beating their stepfather to death after he was accused of sexually abusing their 9-year-old sister, according to the Pharr Police Department. The victim was the stepfather's daughter, authorities said.
Alejandro Trevino, 18, and Christian Trevino, 17, along with family friend Juan Eduardo Melendez, 18, are accused of beating 42-year-old Gabriel Quintanilla and leaving him to die in an open field near the intersection of McColl Road and Whalen Road in McAllen. He was found on January 20 at 3 p.m. by the McAllen Police Department, who then notified Pharr police of the incident and turned over the investigation to them. Quintanilla, who had an arrest warrant for sexually abusing another child, was found with severe blunt force trauma to his head, Pharr police said during a press conference on Tuesday, January 25. Hispanic Man endangered baby while speeding off in pickup 
The driver of a pickup almost crashed into a parked vehicle while his wife had a baby on her lap on the front passenger seat, according to Laredo police.
Leonel Humberto Cardenas, 24, was arrested and charged with evading arrest with a vehicle and endangerment of a child by criminal negligence.
The case dates back to Nov. 29, when officers responded to a domestic disturbance at about 9:22 p.m. in the 300 block of San Bernardo Avenue. The caller stated that a couple was arguing and provided a description of a pickup. An officer arrived and parked his unit about half a block from the suspect vehicle. As the officer walked to the pickup, a man crouching on the inner side door hurried into the pickup. Police said the male did not comply when he was asked to stop. Instead, he reversed the pickup in a reckless manner that the tires peeled out and almost crashed into a parked vehicle. When the vehicle was forced to stop momentarily, the officer caught up to it and held the driver side door to prevent the door from closing. That’s when the officer observed Cardenas and his wife holding a baby on her lap. Cardenas then sped off, which made the officer lose balance and almost fall, according to court documents. U.K. anti-terrorism police arrested two more men in Manchester Wednesday in connection with their investigation of a British man who took Jewish worshippers hostage at a Texas synagogue.
Four of the six arrested are still in custody.
British citizen Malik Faisal Akram, 44, took four people hostage at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas, on Jan. 15. The nearly 11-hour standoff ended with the remaining three hostages running out safely and the alleged gunman shot and killed when FBI agents stormed the building. He was heard on the synagogue’s Facebook livestream demanding the release of Aafia Siddiqui, also known as "Lady Al Qaeda," a Pakistani national imprisoned in Fort Worth for allegedly trying to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Two teenagers were detained in South Manchester the day after the Texas incident, but both were later released without charges after three nights in custody. Reports said they were Akram’s sons. Two other men were arrested Jan. 20 in Birmingham and Manchester. On Jan. 21, U.K. anti-terrorism officers "were granted an extension of custody to continue to question them further," Greater Manchester Police said at the time. Counter Terrorism Policing North West said Wednesday it is "working closely" with U.S. law enforcement. The FBI has said Akram, from the town of Blackburn in Lancashire, England, was a "terrorist espousing an anti-Semitic world view" and described the incident as "both a hate crime and an act of terrorism." Akram’s parents emigrated from Pakistan in the 1960s. SAN FRANCISCO — Following a federal appeals court decision that struck down a terrorism enhancement against a man who talked about wanting to kill 10,000 Bay Area residents, a federal judge has reduced his sentence by more than half.
U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer re-sentenced Amer Al-Haggagi to 81 months, down from the more than 16-year prison term Breyer handed down in 2019. Breyer’s decision came Friday morning, more than a year after the Ninth Circuit ruled Breyer “abused (his) discretion in applying a terrorism enhancement to Al-Haggagi’s sentence. Breyer said he would have imposed an extra 18 months, but was “deeply troubled” by the descriptions of the conditions at USP Atwater, where Al-Haggagi has spent the last two years. The re-sentencing means Al-Haggagi will likely be released within eight months, and Breyer urged the Bureau of Prisons to move him to a halfway house to ease his transition back into society. Charles Breyer’s decision came just hours after news broke that his brother, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, will be retiring by the end of his term in October. Al-Haggagi, whose last name is also spelled “Alhaggagi” in court records, was originally given more than 16 years for opening six Twitter accounts for an FBI agent posing as a member of ISIS. During the investigation, Alhaggagi was caught on an undercover agent’s secret camera talking about wanting to carry out terror attacks in the Bay Area, including violence aimed at “Gays and Jews,” according to court records. MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A St. Paul man is facing murder charges for allegedly shooting his longtime girlfriend over the weekend.
Mark Antonio Bell Jr., 35, is charged with second-degree murder in the early Saturday morning shooting of 31-year-old Latifa Brown, court documents filed in Ramsey County show. If convicted of the murder charge, Bell faces up to 40 years in prison.
According to a criminal complaint, the shooting happened shortly after midnight at a duplex on 43 Lyton Place in St. Paul’s North End neighborhood. Responding officers found Brown covered in blood and lying on the ground outside near a minivan. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. Later, a medical examiner determined her cause of death was a gunshot wound to the mouth. Neighbors reported to investigators that they heard a noisy argument before a single gunshot was fired in the duplex. At the scene, police detained Bell and another man. The other man told investigators that he and Bell were trying to get Brown into the minivan to take her to the hospital. In an interview with police, Bell said that he shot Brown, his girlfriend of 10 years with whom he has a young child, in the midst of an argument about her permit to carry a gun. The victim told police the assault happened at a home she and her mother shared with Berry. Further investigation revealed Berry “had sexual contact with the victim dozens of times” between January 2020 and December 2021, the district attorney’s office said.

California mom alleges school district pushed daughter to become a boy, concealed efforts like pronoun changes
A mom is requesting damages from the Spreckels Union School District after teachers allegedly pressured her daughter into attempting to change genders and conceal from her mother efforts to change her pronouns and name.
"It made me extremely angry, and now I'm taking action for that," mother Jessica Konen told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday. "I'm going to make sure that this doesn't happen anymore." Attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who represents Konen, said they would pursue legal action if the school district didn't comply with their demands. Lashawn McNeil, the 47-year-old suspect accused of shooting two NYPD officers in New York City Friday, killing one and leaving the other critical injured, has died, according to authorities.
The officer who was killed was identified as 22-year-old Jason Rivera, who joined the force in November 2020, and the wounded officer as Wilbert Mora, 27, who's been with the NYPD for four years. |

Detroit police have arrested a person of interest in the case of a missing teen girl named Zion Foster.
According to FOX 2 Detroit, the Eastpointe Police Department announced Jaylin Brazier was arrested Saturday on a felony warrant in connection to the case. Eastpointe is a Metro Detroit subdivision based in Macomb County.
WDIV-TV Local 4 News reported that Brazier is Foster's cousin and the teen went missing with him on Jan. 4 at her Eastpointe home. The news outlet added that Foster, 17, was last seen that day at her home in the 22000 block of Melrose Court in Eastpointe after leaving with Brazier, 21. It also reported that Brazier refused to tell the teen's mother where Foster was after she went missing. WDIV-TV Local 4 News added that its investigative unit, the Local 4 Defenders, was contacted with a lead on the case from a private investigator in Chicago who specializes in human trafficking. The lead was about Brazier's vehicle, an Acura, being spotted in Detroit and Hazel park, another Metro Detroit suburb based in Oakland County, on Jan. 10. In a tweet Wednesday Detroit police stated Foster was initially reported missing on Jan. 5. On Jan. 13, Brazier's vehicle was seen in the Metro Detroit suburb, Waterford, with no signs of Foster inside. Brazier was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in the 38th District Court. Detroit Police Department told PEOPLE that he is currently not being represented by an attorney. While police have recovered the vehicle, Foster is still missing as concerns about her disappearance continue mounting. She is described as Black, 5'1" tall, weighs 120 pounds and was last spotted in a Detroit Wing Company uniform. |

Hispanic Colorado Springs man charged with distributing child porn via Facebook when he lived in Las Cruces
LAS CRUCES - A man from Colorado Springs, Colo. was arrested and charged in New Mexico for allegedly distributing child pornography via Facebook.
Eduardo Ochoa Sanchez, 18, was arrested in Colorado Springs in January then transferred to the El Paso County Detention Center then into the Doña Ana County Detention Center last week. Sanchez is charged with one count of possession of visual medium of sexual exploitation and one count of distribution of visual medium of sexual exploitation of children. According to an affidavit, Sanchez exchanged pornographic images of children with another man via Facebook's Messenger app when he lived in Las Cruces last year. The median property tax for city homeowners is more than $5,000. One Staten Island condo owner told The Post their annual property tax bill is $5,000. A Queens homeowner said his bill is more than $9,000.

NASHVILLE — A man was arrested in connection with the death of a Tennessee sheriff deputy who was found dead inside her burning home.
A Robertson County Sheriff deputy went to check on fellow deputy Savanna Puckett at her home in Springfield, Tennessee Sunday night, around 20 miles north of Nashville, after she did not report for her shift. The officer found her home engulfed in flames, the sheriff's office said in a news release. The deputy was not able to make it inside due to the extent of the fire. Once firefighters arrived, they found Puckett dead inside with a gunshot wound, the release said. She was 22. |
