Decades after a Macon woman was strangled, investigators identify her and her BLACK killer 
Almost half a century after a woman’s remains were found in Macon, local and state investigators have confirmed her identity and linked her to the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history.
Yvonne Pless was approximately 20 years old when she was strangled in 1977, her body discovered off Riverside Drive in Macon. For decades, Pless’ remains were known as “Macon Jane Doe.” Bibb County investigators joined forces with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council in 2018 when Samuel Little confessed to killing a Macon woman in 1977 and Fredonia Smith in 1982. Smith, then, 18, was last seen July 10, 1982. Her skeletal remains were discovered in a backyard on Magnolia Street near Washington Park in Macon almost a month later. Clothing, jewelry and a wallet also were found with the bones. In 2019, Bibb Capt. Shermaine Jones and the CJCC’s Amy Hutsell traveled to Wise County, Texas, where Little was being held, to confirm his confessions matched local cold cases, the sheriff’s office said. After interviewing Little, Jones closed both cases and informed Fredonia Smith’s family members. But authorities still didn’t know the identity of Little’s first Macon victim. Last year, Jones and Hutsell used forensic genealogy to identify the remains, discovering one of Pless’ relatives and connecting with her remaining family members. “Thanks to the dedication of Captain Shermaine Jones and Director Amy Hutsell, the family members of Yvonne Pless and Fredonia Smith now have closure concerning their missing or victimized loved one,” Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said. “I believe with continued dedication, teamwork, and advancement in technology, we can bring that same closure to other awaiting families.” Little, who confessed to killing 93 women between 1970 and 2005, died in 2020. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The man accused of firing shots into FOX13 will be sent to the Memphis Mental Health Institute for further evaluation.
Jarrad Nathan, 26, is facing charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Memphis police say Nathan shot into the Memphis news station and later barricaded himself inside a nearby restaurant, shutting down the Highland Strip for hours. Nathan did not appear in court Wednesday, but family members did. They said they have not been able to speak with nor see Jarrad as he is on suicide watch in Shelby County Jail. “We haven’t been able to sleep,” Jarrad’s sister Marnesha Nathan said. “And I don’t know what caused this to happen, but I’ve been trying to get my brother some help for the longest. Nobody was listening to me.” Jarrad’s next mental evaluation report will be presented on June 21. He remains in Shelby County Jail on a $275,000 bond. CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Witnesses took the stand Wednesday in the jury trial for a dance instructor accused of sexually assaulting more than a half-dozen of his former students.
Terence Greene, 57, was a former teacher at the Cleveland School of Arts near Stearns Road and Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland for 19 years. Witnesses stood in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kevin Kelley. One witness explained they were the parent of a kid who attended the school. That child stopped attending because of Greene’s alleged actions; the witness claims their kid has not been the same since. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said from 1998 to 2019, and during his time as the dance teacher, Greene allegedly sexually assaulted nine students, all under the age of 18, in the dressing room of the school, at events they traveled both to in and out of state, in his car, and at his residence near Churchill Avenue and Orville Avenue in Cleveland. Another witness said Greene was in charge of the school’s dance program. The witness described how, one day, while at Greene’s home, he placed his hand on their thigh and asked them about their sexuality. The witness added that, from that moment on, they knew what Greene was capable of. A third witness said they were sexually assaulted by Greene, and now struggles with trust. More still, the witness says they tested positive for HIV, and claims Greene is the one who gave it to them. Walking in Memphis 2 (Black) brothers arrested, 1 held on $5000 bond after car theft, multiple armed robberies 
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Two brothers are in police custody after committing a number of armed robberies, in addition to stealing a vehicle.
On January 26, 2023, the Memphis Police Department discovered a white vehicle that was blocking traffic near the streets of Persons and Castalia. Randall Ballard, the man in question, was approached by the police and immediately fled the scene. Officers checked the VIN and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Upon further investigation. officers recognized Randall as the driver of the stolen vehicle from a series of previous arrests. One of the MPD officers was able to identify him out of a photo lineup. After being identified, Randall Ballard was taken into police custody. Randall Ballard is currently facing a number of charges including theft of property. |

Montgomery County police have charged a man with rape, kidnapping and armed robbery after they say he attacked two women on a Silver Spring, Maryland, hiking trail on Tuesday.
Jose Roberto Hernandez-Penal, 20, of Hyattsville, was charged with first-degree rape, first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, kidnapping and other weapons-related charges, police announced on Wednesday. According to police, Hernandez-Penal approached two women who were eating lunch along the Northwest Branch Trail around 2:40 p.m. near Burnt Mills East Park off Columbia Pike, and displayed a machete knife, telling the women he intended to rob them. He stole their belongings, then took one of the women and assaulted her before fleeing the scene, police said. ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Monday charged a 41-year-old man with the September murder of a teenager.
Arnaud Jones is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawfully possessing a firearm. Authorities say 18-year-old Corion Love, of St. Louis, was dropped off at a hospital the morning of Sept. 30 with a gunshot wound to his back. He died a few hours later. Charging documents say Jones admitted to police he fired shots from his apartment window toward people in a car because he suspected they had broken into his vehicle, which was parked on the street. Jones was first arrested Jan. 30 but police said he was released after a 24-hour hold because charges had not been filed by prosecutors. He was not in custody as of Wednesday morning, police said. |

BLACK-ON-WHITE: Black man charged with murder in possible hate crime after shooting two white strangers in the back of the head
Authorities in Tulsa are investigating whether a homeless black man shot and killed two white men because of their race.
Carlton Gilford "allegedly" murdered the two strangers he had no connection with on April 18, the Tulsa Police Department told Fox News. Gifford went inside the Rudisill Library around 9:40 a.m., walked up behind Lundin Hathcock, 35, and sadistically shot him in the back of the head, according to cops. Hathcock, who had been sitting at a desk when he was killed, was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Later that day, Gifford went to a nearby QuikTrip convenience store and allegedly shot James McDaniel in the back of the head. McDaniel, 55, fell to the ground and Gifford then shot him again, leaving him dead at the scene, authorities said. Police said Gilford was also caught on surveillance video firing shots at a security guard and another person outside the QuikTrip. When officers arrived, he was standing outside the store and admitted to shooting the two men, the Tulsa Police Department said on its Facebook page. Last week, Calabrese-Lewis was seen on a security camera at the Concourse office complex arriving at a retention pond with the 1-year-old, Nirvana Oliver. The child was later found and pulled from the pond, being pronounced deceased at nearby Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Scottish Rite Hospital. Sandy Springs Police officers responded to a disturbance call about a naked woman at the complex Thursday night and found the mother "having some type of episode." "The child's father arrived and asked where the baby was," a release said. CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) — U.S. Marshals said they captured Travis Lanzo, 29, in Catskill on Friday afternoon. He was wanted in Scranton, Pennsylvania for criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and a firearms violation, according to the Department of Justice.
Officials with the U.S. Marshal’s Albany Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force said Lanzo shot David Deshler multiple times, killing him in Scranton in March. Marshals offered a $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Scranton police roped in the Marshalls on March 29, and investigators determined that Lanzo fled to the Capital Region. The local law enforcement investigation led to monitor a home in Catskill, where they said they found Lanzo. Charges dropped against (Black) McDonald’s employee accused of fatally shooting customer
Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - The charges against an Orange Mound McDonald’s employee accused of fatally shooting a customer in March have been dropped.
According to court records, Preston Deener, 36, was already a convicted murderer and had a warrant for domestic assault when he allegedly shot and killed a woman through the drive-through window on March 13. Police responded to the fast food restaurant on Trezevant Street at 2:58 a.m. and found the victim unresponsive on the pavement outside, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Video surveillance showed that the victim was speaking to the manager through the drive-through window about an order being wrong. A man, later identified as Deener, is then seen arguing with the victim through the window. During the argument, the woman pulled out a firearm and is seen on surveillance video tapping it against the window. She then lowers the gun and the argument continues. Deener then backs up, pulls out a small handgun from his left pocket, points the gun at the victim, and fires one shot through the window, striking her in the chest. He then fled the scene. |

WEST Memphis , Ark. (WMC) - Crittenden County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest of 31-year-old Marcello D. Banks, who is wanted by the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office for the April slaying of an Earle, Arkansas, man.
According to Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen, Banks is wanted in the April 30 homicide of Andre Brown. Banks has an active first-degree murder warrant and is believed to be in the West Memphis area. His last known address is in the 3100 block of Church Street in West Memphis . Banks may also go by the names of Jody Gillian, Marcello Hicks, or Teddy Bundy. |

Though Govan was not physically in court Thursday morning, Govan’s newly hired attorney, Manny Arora, stood before Judge Lee Coffee on behalf of Govan. Judge Coffee set Govan’s bond at $90,000 along with conditions — if Govan posts bond, he will be placed under house arrest and only allowed to leave for medical purposes or needs to meet with his attorney. Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - A woman shot and killed a man at a gas station on Ridgeway Road, according to Memphis Police Department.
Memphis police arrested Teneler Mathis, and she is charged with first-degree murder. A black Cadillac with Tennessee tags drove on the Marathon Gas Station lot located at 3233 Ridgeway Road around 10:18 a.m. on May 7. According to the affidavit, Teneler Mathis exited the driver’s side of the car with a handgun in her right hand while the passenger switched seats. In the surveillance video, Mathis allegedly walked up to the victim and shot him in the back. The victim fell to the ground as the suspect struck him with the handgun and kicked the victim, said police. After a physical altercation with the victim, Mathis returned to the Cadillac and was last seen going north on Ridgeway Road. Jeremy Henry was taken to the hospital after experiencing multiple gunshot wounds. He did not survive. The suspect claims that Henry attacked her and fired shots in self-defense, but surveillance video suggests otherwise, according to the affidavit. |

Police were called to a home on Lake Edge Cove in Cordova where there was an altercation. Police said the two got into an argument and the woman left for her vehicle, which had a passenger inside. That’s when the shots were fired from an AR-style rifle into her Dodge Challenger. Police say no one was injured, but there were several bullet holes in the vehicle. London Margerum was taken into custody. He’s charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and employing a firearm during a dangerous felony. Officers say Margerum admitted to owning the gun but denied firing any shots. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Police Department arrested a woman who went missing in early May.
Memphis Police Department issued a city watch for Coreuna Ward, 21, on May 7. She is now charged with aggravated assault. Officers responded to a domestic call in an apartment complex located on Philsar Street at 7:36 p.m. on Sunday. According to the affidavit, Ward was in a verbal altercation with her mother, and Ward pushed her. The affidavit states that the mother grabbed a knife to lock the door when Ward allegedly took the knife stabbing her mother in the arm and leg. Ward allegedly kicked the door down and left the apartment after the mother ran to the bedroom and locked the door. According to MPD’s city watch release, Ward was believed to be stabbed but the affidavit states otherwise. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - A Memphis man has been charged in a shooting that injured his four-year-old daughter in 2020.
Vincent Johnson is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault. According to court documents, on June 2, 2020, Johnson’s ex-wife arrived at his mother’s house, where he lives, to pick up their two daughters. As she was leaving, her vehicle stalled, so she called her boyfriend for help. When the boyfriend arrived, Johnson allegedly came out of the house and began to berate the couple. A friend then came to the house to pick up the young girls in his car. Johnson’s ex-wife told officers that Johnson became so irate that he went inside, came back outside with a handgun, and began firing at the group. Johnson allegedly shouted that he was going to kill them as he was shooting. The only person struck was Johnson’s four-year-old daughter. A bullet went in and out through her knee, according to court documents. She was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for treatment. The next day, the victim’s mother positively identified Johnson as the man responsible for shooting her daughter and attempting to kill her, her boyfriend, and her friend. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - Prosecutors have dropped the nine charges against the suspect accused of
injuring three in a shooting at the CRU Lounge in March due to a lack of prosecution.
Romerick Devon Humphrey, 30, was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of employment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. According to a spokesperson for the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, “a lack of prosecution” usually means the victims did not show up in court, or there was not enough evidence at the time to determine probable cause. In the case against Humphrey, the one victim who showed up in court could not identify Humphrey as the shooter. There are plans to send this case to a grand jury for an indictment. |

Kenneth Mallory is accused of pointing a black handgun and forcing passengers off the bus on Airways Boulevard and Brooks Road at 10:41 a.m. According to the affidavit, the suspect threatened the bus driver and passengers but agreed to let the passengers exit the bus. The suspect demanded the bus driver to take him where he wanted to go, said police. The bus driver activated the emergency system on the bus. MPD confiscated 18 bags of marijuana and a joint with a total weight of 69.5 grams when they arrested Mallory, according to the affidavit. Mallory is charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - A man is accused of car theft and robbery on Sunday, May 7, that ended in a police pursuit.
Dallas Taylor is charged with evading arrest with vehicle pursuit, financial responsibility law, reckless driving, aggravated robbery, auto theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A victim reported to MPD that his black Chrysler 300 with an Arkansas tag was stolen from Hampton Inn on 33 Humphreys Center Drive. On May 9, the suspect robbed a victim at Superlo Foods at 3071 Perkins Road using the stolen car, said police. The victim told police that a man approached him while holding a black handgun. According to police, the man snatched a receipt from the victim’s hand, walked away, then turned back and said, “Give me the money.” After, he put a gun to the victim’s chest and patted him down, said police. The victim gave the man his wallet and told police the suspect was a backseat passenger of the black Chrysler 300. Later that afternoon, police were in the area of Kirby Road and Split Oak Drive when they saw the Chrysler 300 with an Arkansas tag traveling north from the intersection. Police pursued the stolen vehicle going at a high rate of speed until the vehicle crashed into a civilian’s vehicle on TN 385 and I-240. Officers then saw two men with all-black clothing running away northbound, according to police. A short foot chase took place before both men were taken into custody. |

Memphis , Tenn. (WMC) - Three teenagers have been arrested and charged in a number of Memphis -area burglaries and vehicle thefts.
Miko Armstead, 19, Deario Wilkerson, 18, and Myron McGee, 18, are each facing charges. Police have linked at least five burglaries and two vehicle thefts to the teens, going back as far as January 2021 and having taken place between Memphis and Southaven. On Tuesday, May 9, investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF) conducted undercover surveillance on a 2016 Dodge Charger that was reported stolen the day prior. Investigators witnessed four men breaking into several vehicles in a parking lot on Nonconnah Boulevard after pulling up in the stolen Charger. Two suspects then stole a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and all four sped off in each car. The suspects then abandoned the Tahoe on Crockett Street and took off in the Charger. SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - Four men are sitting at 201 Poplar after a joint operation to arrest a man resulted in a major drug and weapons bust Thursday — including the recovery of over 60 pounds of marijuana.
Jeremiah Bell, 22; Christopher Greer, 26; Patrick Vaughn, 18; and Jamal Terrell, 19; have each been charged. Shelby County deputies began surveying a home on Acadia Place in Cordova Thursday morning in an attempt to carry out felony arrest warrants against 18-year-old Vaughn. Terrell also had active warrants at the time of the arrest. Deputies along with Memphis police and U.S. Marshals Task Force officers knocked and announced themselves with no answer before forcing entry into the home. According to court documents, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside as Bell, Greer, Vaughn, Jones, and one other man came to the door. All were detained without incident. An angry Texas man killed his girlfriend Wednesday after he found out she traveled to a pro-choice state for an abortion, according to police.
Harold Thompson, 22, was charged with murder in the shooting death of 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez in a strip mall parking lot, Dallas police said. Gonzalez had just returned the night before from a nearly 800-mile trip to Colorado, where abortion is legal at all stages of pregnancy, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Abortions in Texas are prohibited after roughly six weeks except in cases of medical emergency. “It is believed that the suspect was the father of the child,” the affidavit said. “The suspect did not want (Gonzalez) to get an abortion.” Surveillance video from the parking lot shows the couple arguing around 7:30 a.m. before Thompson grabs Gonzalez and put her into a chokehold, the document alleges. Gonzalez “shrugs him off,” police said, and the two continue walking. That’s when Thompson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Gonzalez in the head. CLEVELAND (WJW) — A $1 million bond was set for a man indicted just this week in the 2019 murder of a 58-year-old woman as she was walking her dog.
DaJuan Evans, 22, of Cleveland, on Friday pleaded not guilty to his indicted charges of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault. Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy Margaret Russo set his bond at $1 million. Sheila Wallace was walking her dog in McGowan Park when she was shot in the head and chest on Jan. 17, 2019. Police haven’t determined a motive for the killing. The gun was later found after being used in Cleveland’s Stockyards neighborhood. It was turned in by a good Samaritan and found to have Evans’ DNA. Evans, who was 18 when Wallace was killed, was charged with the murder while serving time in the state prison in Mansfield on a 2019 robbery conviction. Evans could face life in prison, if convicted on the aggravated murder charge, prosecutors said. One of two suspects wanted in connection with a homicide from nine months ago was arrested within the confines of the 103rd Precinct on Wednesday.
Damion Howell, 39, of Auburndale, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm on May 10 for the alleged murder of Julian Askew, 29, at 106-17 Waltham St. in Jamaica, last year, according to the NYPD. On Aug. 5, 2022, it was reported that two men allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with the victim that escalated and led to Askew being shot in the torso at approximately 1:45 a.m, according to authorities. Police told the Queens Chronicle they do not know what the dispute was about. The suspects fled the scene on foot to parts unknown, according to authorities. Askew was found unconscious by EMS personnel, who rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 14, 2022. |

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man is in jail accused of attempted murder for allegedly running over a pedestrian with his car on purpose.
According to court records, the attempted murder began when the suspect honked his horn at the victim at 16th Street and Shadeland Monday night. Police believe the driver got impatient waiting for the pedestrian to slowly cross the street. That road rage sparked a fight between the two strangers. Police insist Quintel Cook got out of his car and slammed the victim’s head on the pavement. A female passenger, Kayla Staten, also allegedly got out and kicked the victim in the head. A bystander broke up that fight, but according to the affidavit, Cook got back into his car and began to drive away before telling Staten he couldn’t let it go. That’s when Cook allegedly turned around and deliberately ran over the victim along 16th Street. Police wish people would stay calm behind the wheel. “We want people to stay calm, period. Resolving conflict with a gun or car or anything else that will cause serious injury or death is unacceptable,” said Lt. Shane Foley with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. |

He then tried to flee the scene before he was detained by bystanders, police said last weekend. “When I got close to Alvarez, I was able to see that he was obviously intoxicated,” the arresting officer wrote in the report. “He had droopy, watery eyes and had a look of fatigue on his face. Sumal was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and faces two counts of murder. The two women were identified as Satbinder Singh, 39, and Nadjiba Belaidi, 37. A man awaiting sentencing on a first-degree murder conviction in Caroline County on Thursday had several months added to whatever prison term he eventually gets for the slaying.
Calvin Maurice Reynolds, 31, of Woodford, pleaded guilty in Stafford County Circuit Court to a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. The charge stems from a February 2022 incident in the Rappahannock Regional Jail in which Reynolds had an altercation with a correctional officer. Reynolds had initially been charged with a felony for the assault, but accepted a misdemeanor plea Thursday that calls for him to serve eight months in jail. Reynolds will face considerably more time when he is sentenced in Caroline for the Oct. 10, 2021, slaying of 59-year-old Warren “Doc” Baker. Baker was beaten to death with a metal chair outside 7119 Macedonia Road in Caroline. |

Thursday morning in Napa County Superior Court, a jury found Christopher “Roly” Young, a 26-year-old Martinez resident, guilty of fatally shooting Nathan Gabriel Garza in 2020 outside the Safeway supermarket where Garza worked. Jurors agreed that Young fired his handgun at Garza from a motor vehicle and lay in wait to do so, two factors prosecutors cited to support a charge of first-degree murder for premeditation. The jury of eight men and four women at the downtown Napa County courthouse also convicted Young of four other felonies, including shooting from a motor vehicle, firearm possession by a felon, ammunition possession by a felon, and giving false information to police officers. |

A former Army chaplain was arrested in connection with a California crime spree that involved an armed carjacking, hoax 911 call and bank robbery, authorities said.
The string of incidents occurred Tuesday afternoon in Fresno and Madera counties, authorities said. Deputies responded to a report of an armed carjacking in Madera around 12:51 p.m. local time, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said. The victim told deputies he was in his AT&T work van in a business complex parking lot when the suspect approached. When the victim got out of the van to "confront" the suspect, he "wrestled away" an airsoft pistol and disarmed the suspect, but was then pepper-sprayed, the sheriff's office said. The suspect fled the scene in the van, according to the sheriff's office, which said it issued an alert to local agencies about the stolen vehicle. Around 12:56 p.m., Fresno police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun walking onto the Bullard High School campus, the police department said. Officers cleared the school but "quickly determined that was a hoax call," Fresno Officer Chris Clark told ABC Fresno affiliate KFSN. (more at news link above...) An Arizona domestic violence suspect was indicted on Monday after allegedly beating up a Phoenix police officer last month, causing serious injuries.
Rudy Gomez, 24, was indicted on eight felony counts by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office on Thursday. His charges include one count of assault, three counts of aggravated assault and four counts of endangerment. The injured (ROMANIAN) officer, George Manciu, was responding to a domestic violence dispute at Central Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix at around 9:35 p.m. on April 30. As the officer spoke to a woman, who said she was assaulted by Gomez, the suspect approached Manciu "in a highly agitated manner." "Gomez assaulted the officer, who ended up on the ground with Gomez punching him multiple times in the face and kicking him while he was down," Phoenix Police Department said in a news release. The incident was caught on the officer's bodycam. According to court documents obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, the officer suffered a nasal septum fracture, a nasal bone fracture and fractured orbital sockets. He also had a laceration above his eye and on the back of his head. "[The officer] was rendered unconscious and had no recollection as to why he was in the hospital," the documents read. His injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and the officer has since been released from the hospital. |

A man received a 25-year prison sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to murder in a 2019 shooting outside an Elm Mott home.
Judge Susan Kelly of Waco's 54th State District Court sentenced Jacob Isaiah Jones, 31, to a 25-year prison term in the death of Brent Lee Reynolds, 40, who died by gunfire Sept. 30, 2019, in the 3500 block of Mazanec Road in Elm Mott. Jones entered a guilty plea Jan. 18, and Kelly ordered a presentencing investigation. Jones remained free on $500,000 bond from February 2020 until his sentencing. He had requested probation for his sentence, but Kelly ruled the law did not allow probation because of Jones' prior convictions in California and Tennessee. Members of Reynolds' family gave victim impact statements after the sentencing. A New Jersey man has been charged with murder after the grisly axing death of his sister-in-law and 9-year-old niece, officials announced.
Everoy L. Morrison, 44, of Roselle was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft, and several weapons counts, the Union County Prosecutor’s office and Roselle Police Department announced Monday. The bodies of Keisha Morrison, 45, and her young daughter Kelsey Morrison were found on April 18 by police officers who were called to a home in the 200 block of West 7th Avenue in Roselle on a report of two missing people, officials said. Officers found the victims’ bodies and determined that Keisha Morrison’s car was stolen. Investigators tracked the car to Maryland where the driver, Everoy Morrison, was stopped and arrested for possessing a stolen car, prosecutors said in a news release. An investigation by the prosecutor’s office, Roselle police and Maryland State Police led to Morrison to be arrested. A man in Florida was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly randomly stabbed a gas station employee.
The Davenport Police Department said that Marc Caseaf Tucker allegedly walked into the RaceTrac convenience store at a gas station on May 8 and began looking at items and eventually used the restroom, according to FOX 13. When asked by a clerk if he needed help, Tucker declined. But as the female clerk stocked merchandise, Tucker allegedly stabbed her from behind and hit her on the side and in the back according to police. Police said the victim was able to escape, but eventually fell to the floor. Tucker allegedly stabbed her in the chest several more times after she fell. When the victim escaped again, Tucker allegedly ran into the woods. The other clerks inside the store didn't see the attack happen, but heard the victim scream and saw Tucker running, officials said. In total, the victim was stabbed nine times and was taken to a local hospital. Police said Tucker is homeless and has multiple arrests that date back to 2013 and include assault, resisting an officer, domestic violence, thef and battery. |

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A Sumter County man has been sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment after being arrested for killing a retired school teacher.
Zamal Rivera, 43, of Wedgefield pled to felony driving under the influence resulting in death. Investigators say on March 15, 2018, Rivera hit 71-year-old John Scott head-on while driving in the opposite direction on US-178. Five hours after the incident law enforcement tested Rivera’s blood alcohol level which came back as above the legal limit at .092. He was previously convicted of driving under the influence in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2016. The victim, John Scott was an art teacher for the Dorchester County Schools for nearly 31 years before his retirement. Scott also was known for designing a logo for the first St. George Grits Festival in Dorchester County. |

She went to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead around 4:30 a.m. Investigators say Walker and Owens got into a fight and shots were fired. That's when Walker ran away. Police have made an arrest in connection to a double homicide in Old Louisville last year.
The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested 31-year-old Kelen Slaughter on Thursday and charged him with murder. The charges are related to a shooting on Dec. 5 of last year, which took place in the 1600 block of Arthur Street. LMPD was called to the scene and found 28-year-old Kenneth Sauer Jr. dead from gunshot wounds. Jimy Mejias, 24<, was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died from gunshot wounds. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is accused of beating another man in the head with a tire iron, causing severe head injuries.
According to court documents, 64-year-old Tony Glasper was taken into custody by officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department Sunday night. He's charged with first-degree assault. Police said on Saturday, EMS was sent to North 42nd Street, near Parker Avenue, in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood, after receiving a report that someone was in distress. When they arrived, they found a man with "severe head trauma" outside his home. That man was transported to UofL Hospital, where police said they were told the victim, "is not likely to survive his injuries." According to court documents, the victim was last seen getting into a vehicle with Glasper. Police said Glasper also told someone else that he'd beaten the man with a tire iron. When police searched Glasper's vehicle, they found blood evidence and a tire iron, according to an arrest report. |

Authorities in Tulsa are investigating whether a homeless black man shot and killed two white men because of their race.
Carlton Gilford allegedly murdered the two strangers he had no connection with on April 18, the Tulsa Police Department told Fox News. Gifford went inside the Rudisill Library around 9:40 a.m., walked up behind Lundin Hathcock, 35, and sadistically shot him in the back of the head, according to cops. Hathcock, who had been sitting at a desk when he was killed, was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Later that day, Gifford went to a nearby QuikTrip convenience store and allegedly shot James McDaniel in the back of the head. McDaniel, 55, fell to the ground and Gifford then shot him again, leaving him dead at the scene, authorities said. Police said Gilford was also caught on surveillance video firing shots at a security guard and another person outside the QuikTrip. When officers arrived, he was standing outside the store and admitted to shooting the two men, the Tulsa Police Department said on its Facebook page. Benjamin Abrams, a 55-year-old homeless man, was charged with three counts of assault on a police officer more than two weeks after the April 19 incident, according to cops. One of the officers hit his head and suffered a concussion after jumping out of the way of the car. Abrams remained silent as he was walked out of the Midtown South precinct. “Crime Stoppers tips led to his arrest,” a police spokeswoman said. |

Randell Jefferson, 33, faces 10 criminal felonies for soliciting sex with minors spanning a two-year period. Along with being the 6th. grade aid, Jefferson runs the after school program and helped coach track. According to the criminal complaint, the Milwaukee Police Department began investigating in Sept. 2022 after a 14-year-old girl came forward regarding a sexual assault with her 6th. grade aid "Mr. Jefferson." The unnamed 14-year-old said that the 33-year-old, "made comments to her about boys wanting to do sexual things to (the teen) and talking to (the teen) about pornography," the complaint says. The teen stayed silent until she told her mother in June. The young girl told her mother that Jefferson took her into a room commonly used for after-school activities and allegedly had inappropriate contact with her. The teen did not say anything about their interaction because the teen "stated she felt uncomfortable talking about it and that the defendant had a ‘buff build.’" As police began investigating the disturbing incident, the principal at Oliver Wendell Holmes School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin corroborated the 14-year-old's allegation after "several students informed him that they were solicited for sexual favors by a teacher." During an interview with police, Jefferson admitted to having homemade pornographic material on his phone, but denied showing the pornography to any of the students. The complaint says that the pornographic videos depicting the defendant receiving oral sex from various females - are consistent with what the victims said. |

A suspect was arrested Thursday evening in connection to the murder of Lauren Heike, the Arizona woman found dead along a hiking trail, according to authorities.
The man’s capture came five days after Heike’s body was discovered on a trail near her Phoenix home. She appeared to have suffered trauma, authorities previously said. Phoenix police said the suspect, in his early 20s, was arrested at his home — about a mile from the trail where Heike, 29, was killed. Telemundo Arizona captured footage of the man moments after he was arrested that shows him sitting on a curb and at one point lying on his back while handcuffed. He then is shown being placed inside a police vehicle. “With this information, we hope that the community tonight can rest a little easier knowing that this person is off the streets,” police spokesperson Sgt. Melissa Soliz said during a brief Thursday night press conference. Authorities confirmed the man seen in surveillance footage previously released by the department is the suspect who was nabbed. He was linked to the slaying through DNA evidence, CBS 5 reported. It’s unclear if the suspect and victim had any connection. Phoenix police homicide Lt. (Black) Suspect in slaying at Danville hotel now faces charge of first-degree murder of a woman beaten to death
A suspect accused in a February homicide at a Danville hotel now faces a charge of first-degree murder, online court records show.
A Danville Circuit Court grand jury last week indicted Avery Demetrie Kirby, 49, in the death of 61-year-old Dale Marie Jones.
Responding to a well-being check, authorities found the victim about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Astoria Hotel in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive. By 9 p.m. the same day, Kirby was in custody originally charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jones. On April 24, a grand jury returned a true bill for a charge of first-degree murder, loosely defined as a killing by premeditation. Jones was found “with blunt force trauma to her upper body,” the Danville Police Department reported in February. It marked the first homicide of the year for the city. |
FOUR (Black) teens involved in 2020 murder of Biloxi 16 year old sentenced
Four people who were teens at the time they were involved in a 2020 murder were sentenced on Tuesday for their roles in the death of Madison Harris, District Attorney W. Crosby Parker said in a press release.
Jasmine Kelley, Jarvis Cook, Willow Blackmon and Yakeshia Blackmon, of Biloxi, had previously entered guilty pleas before Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Muller for their roles in the murder of Madison Harris, who was killed in a robbery attempt at her home in Biloxi in 2020. Jaquez “Quez” Devonte Porter, who was also involved in the killing, was sentenced to life in prison for capital murder on April 14. Willow Blackmon, Jarvis Cook and Jasmine Kelley testified at Porter’s trial. During Porter’s sentencing, his grandmother Tammy Lytrice Porter, 55, was arrested after allegedly shouting obscenities and threatening Judge Muller after the sentence was handed down. Jarvis Cook, who was out on bond for an unrelated Gulfport case at the time of the murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and robbery and received a sentence of 43 years. He will serve 25 of those years before being on post-release supervision for five years. Yakeshia Blackmon, who had her hand on the gun when it went off, killing Harris, was sentenced to 40 years, and will serve 30 of those years without the possibility of parole for second-degree murder and robbery. |
(Black) charged with murder in shooting death in St. Louis’ Central West End
ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Thursday charged two men in connection to a shooting death in the Central West End earlier this week.
Syntrell Howard, 21, and Ta'Shaun Patterson, 22, were both charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Howard also faces a charge of unlawfully possessing a weapon. Both men were in custody Friday morning, however police were unable to provide bond information. Police had not released the name of the victim as of Friday morning. A spokeswoman said investigators were still working to locate next of kin. The charges stem from a shooting around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laclede and Taylor avenues, according to a police report. When police arrived, they found a man shot multiple times who was not breathing. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital, police said. |

A murder suspect linked to a fatal Bradenton shooting earlier this year was taken into custody Wednesday night following an eight-hour standoff with SWAT and police, law enforcement officials say. Dorian Brooks, 24, of Bradenton, was wanted for multiple felony counts, including first-degree murder for a deadly armed robbery shooting on Jan. 23 at a house in the 100 block of 10th Ave. W. in Bradenton.
Brooks and six other men are accused of firing over 60 shots during the robbery, wounding three men. One of the men, a 23-year-old, died on Jan. 31 from his injuries, police said. Brooks was arrested at a friend’s house in the 5100 block of Old Bradenton Road in Sarasota after an hours-long standoff with multiple agencies, the Sarasota Police Department said in a press release. Police officers, SWAT and U.S. Marshals responded to the scene, according to the department. Investigators with the Bradenton Police Department have been trying to arrest all seven men linked to the shooting since January. Brooks is the fifth suspect arrested in the case, police say. Two other suspects are still at large. |

Prosecutors said that Shaun Harrison, 63, lived a double life, portraying himself as an anti-violence activist and mentor for troubled teens while hiding his own gang ties, and luring students into drugs and violence. BOLIVAR CO., Miss. (WMC) - Mississippi Highway Patrol is searching for a man on the run.
Stanley Self Jr., 23, was last seen in the area of Isaac Street and South Street on May 2 at 7 a.m. According to MHP, Self is wanted in connection to a shooting that injured a state trooper in Mound Bayou in Bolivar County. The trooper was shot in the arm by Self, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. The 5′9 man was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white t-shirt and may be traveling on foot. State law enforcement is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the location or arrest of the subject |

Anthony McKnight, a convicted serial killer and rapist in Alameda County, was found dead in his prison cell on Thursday in San Quentin. No cause of death has been released.
McKnight was linked by DNA to the 1985 murders of five women in Alameda County: Betty Stuart, 22; Diane Stone, 17; Talita Dixon, 13; Monique Davis, 18; and Beverly Bryant, 24. McKnight was already in prison when investigators linked him to the five murders: He had been serving a 63-year sentence since August 1987 for convictions of attempted first-degree murder, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, oral copulation and kidnapping to commit a sex offense, also committed in Alameda County. McKnight was enlisted in the Navy at the time of the crimes, assigned to the Alameda Naval Air Station, but living in Oakland. In a 1987 story in the Oakland Tribune, prosecutor Ken Burr wrote in a letter to the probation department that McKnight was a serial rapist of sex workers. “And if he had his way the six women who testified against him would never have been found alive,” Burr said at the time. After a jury deliberation of less than six hours, a Long Island man previously indicted on charges for a deadly supermarket shooting has been convicted and could face life behind bars.
Hempstead resident Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, age 33, was found guilty on Wednesday, May 3 of murdering a Stop & Shop supervisor and attempting to murder two coworkers, the Nassau County District Attorney announced. He faces a potential maximum sentence of 90 years to life in prison. Wilson, who had been a Stop & Shop employee at the time, entered the West Hempstead grocery store with a weapon on April 20, 2021, at approximately 11:19 a.m. and headed up to the second-floor employee offices, according to trial testimony. He then went into the store manager’s office, where he shot a victim in the face and twice in the chest. The DA’s Office reports that Wilson then shot a female manager in the shoulder, with the bullet exiting through her back, before entering a second office and firing multiple rounds at 49-year-old manager Raymond Wishropp. Wishropp was struck in the chest and leg. ST. LOUIS — Authorities on Thursday charged a 20-year-old man with murder in the fatal shooting of a man in March.
Jerry Pergues is charged with first-degree murder, four counts of first-degree assault and five counts of armed criminal action. He was being held without bond on Thursday. The charges stem from the shooting death of Jevon Patterson, 23, on March 31. Police said they were called to the 5000 block of Thrush Avenue just after noon that day for a report of a shooting. Officers said they later found out a man had been shot in the stomach and someone was driving them to the hospital. |

A North Augusta man has been charged in connection to a 2022 murder.
Freddie Lee Simpkins, 34, of North Augusta, was arrested Wednesday regarding the May 3, 2022 murder of Charles Bradley at the intersection of Hampton Avenue and Assembly Street, according to a news release from the Aiken Department of Public Safety. Simpkins was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, the release said. Officers with on patrol observed Simpkins on the front porch of a North Augusta residence on Wednesday, and he fled on foot once spotted. After a brief chase, Simpkins was apprehended without further incident, according to the report. The ATF RAGE Unit Task Force, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and North Augusta Department of Public Safety assisted with the location and apprehension of Simpkins, the release stated. |

Manhunt underway for (Black) who killed 1 and wounded 4 in Atlanta medical facility
Atlanta authorities are searching for the person who shot five people Wednesday at Northside Hospital Medical in Midtown Atlanta, killing one person and sending four others to the hospital, and then fleeing in a carjacked vehicle, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said Wednesday.
A 39-year-old woman died, Schierbaum said during a Wednesday afternoon news conference. The injured victims were also all women, ranging from 25 to 71 years old. The suspect, whom authorities identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson, left the building and is believed to have carjacked a vehicle nearby, the police chief said. He is still at large and there are active leads in Cobb County and in the city of Atlanta, Schierbaum said. Officers in Cobb County were searching in the areas of Vinings, Cumberland and Truist Park, according to a Twitter post from the Cobb County Police Department. “We are working diligently to bring this individual into custody,” the police chief added. |

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A terrifying home invasion in Cobb County. An elderly couple was held at gunpoint and forced to hand over cash, gun and the keys to their car.
Ed and Linda Shanahan were watching TV when a stranger kicked his way through the front door of their home on Baker road last week. "I get up to get my gun, it's in the bedroom, before I could get there the guy is in the living room pointing his weapon at my head," said Ed Shanahan. The man held the couple at gunpoint and forced them into the bedroom. "He was in between the two of us and told her to hurry. She said I'm 80 years old what do you expect? I can't run!" said Shanahan. The Shanahans say the man wanted guns and cash. They handed over a little more than 300 dollars and a gun. He then told Linda Shanahan lie on her stomach on the bed and took Ed Shanahan to the kitchen. "I didn't know if I should try to do something, call 911 or press the alarm, but then thought if he heard me he may shoot him and then come back and shoot me," said Linda Shenahan. He made Ed Shanahan kneel down, he grabbed the keys to their car and took off. Police tracked the car and a few days later caught up with 36-year-old Earnest Williams. He is now in the Cobb County jail charged with 10 felonies. He's being held without bond. Williams has an Atlanta address. PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — New details are emerging after a Phoenix police officer was attacked over the weekend, suffering what the police union describes as “horrific” injuries.
It began around 9:30 p.m. Sunday near Central Avenue and Thomas Road when an officer was flagged down by a woman who said she was just assaulted by the father of her children. As the officer and woman were speaking, police say the suspect, 24-year-old Rudy Gomez, approached. Moments later, the officer was punched multiple times in the face, then kicked while he was on the ground. Phoenix Law Enforcement Association president Darrell Kriplean says the attack was much more severe than initially described by Phoenix police. “When our officer attempted to take Gomez into custody, the suspect punched our officer in the face, rendering him unconscious,” Kriplean said. “Gomez continued his attack, brutally punching the officer in the face an estimated dozen times and then stomping on the officer’s face.” “This officer was beaten, and we could have been planning a funeral,” said Kriplean who calls the officer’s injuries “horrific,” saying he suffered two broken eye orbital bones, head lacerations and a broken nose. “He was almost unrecognizable only minutes after the assault,” Kriplean said. “It’s nothing short of miraculous that he survived.” <----<⭐︎>----> Wherever there are blacks, death follows. Mother of serial killer stabbed to death in home where her son was arrested CLEVELAND – A woman was found dead and three children injured early Saturday morning after a man entered their home and stabbed them, Cleveland police said. The suspect, 18-year-old Jaylen Latrell Plummer, entered the home where Diane Madison, 62, and three children — two 10-year- olds and a 12-year-old — slept and began stabbing them in their bedrooms, police said. Madison is the mother of serial killer Michael Madison, according to WJW, based on confirmation from his former attorney. Michael Madison was sentenced to death in 2016, after being convicted of killing three women and wrapping their bodies in garbage bags. Diane Madison was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday. Two of the children were able to run to a neighbor’s home and call for help, police said. Officers found the third child hiding in the house. The three young victims were taken to a children’s hospital. Police said they found and arrested Plummer in the home’s shower. Jake Bird was arrested in Tacoma, Washington, on Oct. 30, 1947. He broke into the home of Bertha Kludt and her daughter, Beverly June Kludt, and hacked them to death with an ax. He confessed to the killings and was sentenced to death. On Nov. 26, 1947, following a three-day trial, he was convicted of first-degree murder. He confessed to 44 murders during his travels as a hobo across the country. He was hanged at the Washington State Penitentiary on July 15, 1949.
In 1991, criminologist Eric W. Hickey, Ph.D., Director of Alliant International University's Center for Forensic Studies, wrote about how the Bird case challenges stereotypes of serial killers, who are mostly thought to be Caucasian males, whereas African-American killers typically are associated with urban violence. DENVER — One of the men involved in a summer of 1975 Colorado Springs crime spree that led to the deaths of at least three people has died, according to a news release from the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Michael Corbett died Monday night of what’s believed to be natural causes at a Denver-area hospital, the release says. Corbett’s first murder happened on June 19, 1975, while he was a soldier. According to the release, he, Freddie Glenn, and another codefendant robbed Daniel Van Lone. Van Lone, who was 29, had just gotten off the clock at his job at the Four Seasons Hotel when he was abducted and taken to a remote area. Police at the time said Van Lone begged for his life but to no avail. He was fatally shot in the head and robbed – netting his abductors just 50 cents, according to prosecutors. The next murder happened on June 27, 1975, when prosecutors said Corbett met with another soldier named Winfred Proffitt. The release says Corbett stabbed him in the chest with a knife, and later told investigators his only reason for stabbing Proffitt to death was to see what it feels like to stab someone with a knife. On July 1, 1975, prosecutors said Corbett and one of his co-defendants went to a Red Lobster restaurant with the intention of robbing it. When they thought someone was onto their plan, the release says they started to leave the building – and kidnapped 19-year-old Karen Grammer on their way out. Karen Grammer is actor Kelsey Grammer’s sister, and worked at the restaurant. She was waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up. Prosecutors said the young woman was repeatedly sexually assaulted and then taken to a mobile home park, where Glenn stabbed her several times and threw her into a car to die. “The only apparent motive for the murder of Karen Grammer was their belief that she might have been able to say they had attempted to rob the restaurant,” the release says. Glenn is still alive and in the custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections. On November 10, 2022, Lee pled guilty to three counts, including one count of conspiracy and two counts of bribing a public official and Song pled guilty to conspiracy. A man arrested by Oklahoma City Police has been charged after allegedly repeatedly punching an officer until they lost consciousness, according to the department.
The department said officer Morgan Reynolds was attacked by 26-year-old DeAngelo Wright on Thursday while responding to a domestic call. Wright was arrested hours later on several complaints including aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, and is being held on a $10 million bond. Reynold's mother said she sustained a broken jaw and multiple facial fractures. One person is dead after an assault that happened on Thursday in northwest Oklahoma City, according to Oklahoma City Police.
Police said they responded to a disturbance at around 2:48 p.m. near North Virginia Avenue and Northwest 9th Street. Investigators learned that several individuals were involved in an altercation. The victim, Maalik Carter, 24, was attacked with a knife and later died at the hospital. Police arrested Algernon Reed after an interview and booked him into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint. |

Earlier this year, a judge gave Charles L. Jones a second chance to try to beat the charges he killed his mother and his ex-girlfriend in Buffalo in 2019.
On Monday, just before the start of jury selection in his double murder trial, Jones – for the second time – admitted guilt in their deaths. As part of a plea agreement, Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter. Jones, 27, pleaded guilty in 2021 to two counts of second-degree murder for the fatal stabbings of Jacquetta L. Lee, 25, and Alethia Atwood Williams , 52. His initial plea came with no strings attached, meaning he could have faced up to 50 years to life in prison. As part of the plea deal, Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio committed to 25-year sentences on each count, meaning Jones will be sentenced to 50 years in prison. |

MIAMI – A 16-year-old boy confessed to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in northeastern Miami-Dade County, police announced on Friday night.
Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, identified the suspect as Davad Chrisbaw Brooks, and reported police officers arrested him on Friday in Doral accusing him of manslaughter with a deadly weapon. Initially, police officers considered a stray bullet was to blame for Barry Ellis’s wound at about 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, in Miami-Dade’s West Little River neighborhood. But according to the arrest form, Davad told police officers that he too was in the home and the shooting was accidental. |

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man was convicted for a 2020 deadly shooting, the Marion County prosecutor said Friday.
Ivy Nunn was convicted after a three-day jury trial for his connection in the murder of Daniel Morris Jr. On Aug. 27 just after 8:30 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to an area in the 3800 block of Guion Access Road on reports of a body found. That is just off 38th Street. Coroners identified the body as Daniel Morris Jr. and determined that he died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and pelvis, according to a release. Police say that Morris’s relatives and friends last had contact with him on Aug. 21. while he was in the 6100 block of Beachview Drive. That is located at Westlake Apartments. Detectives obtained surveillance video from the morning of Aug. 21 and saw three people arrive at the apartment at 2:24 a.m. Shortly after, two males are seen carrying another male’s body, placing it in their vehicle, the release said. On Sept. 11, U.S. Marshals located and arrested Nunn for murder in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. |

Police have charged a 26-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting in downtown Roanoke early Sunday
Brandon Jamal Woods, of Roanoke, was charged Monday with second-degree murder. Police have not identified any of the gunfire incident’s three victims. At about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, police on patrol in downtown heard gunshots coming from the 100 block of Campbell Avenue Southeast. Outside a business on that block, police found a man and a woman with gunshot injuries. The man’s wounds were critical. Both were transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where a third person, another man who was shot in the same incident, had arrived via a personal vehicle. The man found with critical injuries on Campbell later died, and police opened a homicide investigation. |

Police have arrested a Georgia man connected to the death of a man who was found shot in a ditch.
Barry Junior Bellinger, 37, of Lithonia, Georgia, was arrested Friday and is wanted for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, kidnapping and carjacking, according to a media release from Aiken County Sheriff’s Department. On March 14, Jarvon Stapleton, 24, of Stonecreast, Georgia, was found lying on the side of the road by a passerby at the intersection of Old Barnwell Road and Kitchings Road, with gunshot wounds to the hand and head. Stapleton was taken to a local hospital and died. Over the course of the investigation, police identified Bellinger as a suspect in the death, the release said. Bellinger, who is also known as Alameen Mumin, was taken into custody at an apartment complex on Athena Lane in Lithonia, Georgia, by the U.S. Marshals Service and DeKalb County Police Department. |

BELLEVILLE — A Belleville mother was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday in the death of her 7-month-old son.
Peanina S. Porter, 25, is facing three counts in St. Clair Circuit Court for first-degree murder, endangering the life and health of a child, and obstructing justice in the death of her infant son, Richard D. Bowker III. Charges allege that on April 21. Porter inflicted head trauma on the child, then failed to get him proper medical care. She is also accused of starting a factory reset on her cellphone in an attempt to destroy evidence in the case. Porter’s bond was set at $1 million. |

A man has been arrested in connection to a fentanyl-related death in October in Edmond.
Oklahoma City Police said on October 20, 2022, they responded to a home near North Bryant Avenue and East Memorial Road in reference to a drug overdose. Police said investigators learned fentanyl was provided to Rahman Fenner, 24, by Kolby Hurst, 23. Hurst was arrested on a felony murder warrant during a traffic stop on Wednesday. |

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Two women have been arrested for an armed robbery that happened early Tuesday.
Monica Carter-James and Destiny Washington, both from Greenville, have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, and second degree kidnapping. Greenville police say just after midnight on Tuesday they were called to the 3100 block of Moseley Drive. Victims told police a woman knocked on their apartment door and two armed men came in and stole marijuana, cash, technology including an iPad, and a gun. Officers say they found a vehicle matching the suspects’ description a short time later on East 10th Street with Carter-James and Washington inside. MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- Police are looking for two people they claim attempted to steal iPhones off the display at a Best Buy store in Mount Laurel Township.
It happened on Sunday, April 30, around 1:30 p.m.
Police responded to the Best Buy on Nixon Drive after two armed peopled allegedly tried to take iPhones from the store.
Both suspects are described to be under 5 feet tall. One suspect was wearing a blue jumpsuit. 
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who sources say attempted to sexually assault a woman near the University of Pennsylvania campus.
“What’s up, n–a,” he can be heard saying before allegedly shooting at the man, sending shocked pedestrians fumbling out of the line of fire.

Gilyard murdered at least 13 women, yet he received little media attention in the mid 1970s. He began strangling prostitutes in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri in 1977 at the age of 26. He was arrested 17 years later at the age of 42, and was caught because of DNA evidence.
Responsible for the “Missing and Murdered” children of Atlanta cases from the mid 1970s through the 1980s, he is suspected of killing at least 27 victims, mostly boys between the ages of 7 and 14.

Darren Deon Vann is suspected in the deaths of dozens of women in a period that may span almost 20 years. Vann confessed to the murder of at least six other Black women mostly thought to engage in the sex trade. Vann is a convicted sex offender with a long criminal history that includes aggravated rape in Austin, Texas, for which he served five years in prison. After he was released, he relocated to the Gary, Indiana area and was listed as a registered sex offender. At this point, police have stated that at least one other victim was also strangled to death but have not listed the cause of death of the other victims.
Lonnie Franklin, Jr., a former garbage man with the official police nickname of the “Grim Sleeper.” A Los Angeles jury found Franklin guilty after a two-month long trial for the murder of 10 Black women over a 20-year period. Franklin killed from 1985 thru 2007 and he was found guilty in 10 deaths, but may have killed many more. His victims were all mainly poor Black females, already victimized by the poverty of their circumstances during the 1980s crack epidemic. Some of the victims have been described as prostitutes and crack addicts and because of this, a low priority was given for the solving of their deaths. Also helping Franklin was his job as a trash collector and garage attendant for the Los Angeles Police Department.
A stranger punched a man in the face in an unprovoked attack on a downtown Brooklyn street early Wednesday, cops said.
