(Black Negress) Mother who killed daughter thought she was ‘alien trying to take her children’
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A mother is arrested and charged after being accused of killing her daughter after she thought she was an “alien trying to take her children”.
Carolyn Garrett is charged with first-degree murder. Police responded to a suspicious person call on Tuesday morning to a residence on Keen Road. Officers saw a woman lying in the street near the driveway of the residence, covered in blood with multiple stab wounds. The victim was later identified as Garrett’s 50-year-old daughter. Garrett told officers she killed an alien who was trying to take her children, according to police. Police say Garrett’s 27-year-old son told police that his mother told him she killed the devil. Memphis Fire Department made the scene and pronounced Garrett’s daughter dead at 12:22 a.m. Garrett told investigators she heard voices coming from the wall telling her to kill her daughter. She got a knife out of the kitchen and started cutting her daughter on the back of her neck and back area, according to police. Garrett then dragged her body outside to put it on the curb. She then told investigators that she cleaned up some blood in the house with a towel and also put it outside. |
2 (Black) Cleveland, Miss. men arrested for murder in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Two men from Cleveland, Mississippi, are arrested after a murder in Memphis, according to Memphis Police Department.
Jamar Tanner, 20, is charged with first-degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery, aggravated robbery, and carjacking. Christopher Miller, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery, aggravated robbery, and carjacking. Police responded to a shooting on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 5:39 p.m. on W. Faronia Square. Officers found a victim that had been shot multiple times and was lying in the parking lot. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. |

TUNICA, Miss. (WMC) - Tunica County authorities are searching for a man after a fatal shooting that left one dead.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office says Javion Clark is wanted for first-degree murder after he reportedly fled the scene of a shooting where Lester Davis was killed. Man killed while trying to escape carjacking; 2 BLACKS arrested including teen
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A shooting victim from last week has died, and police have two suspects in custody.
The shooting happened during a carjacking attempt on Cloverdale Drive.
Police say two men crashed a stolen car at South Parkway and Barksdale Street and ran away with guns and ski masks. A few blocks away, the two approached a car with two people inside and attempted to carjack them. As the driver attempted to drive away, one of the men fired a gun, hitting the driver. The two suspects left the scene on foot, and the driver did not survive. After the homicide, the two approached another man on North Diane Circle and carjacked him. That vehicle was later found abandoned. Detectives were able to identify the two suspects as 20-year-old Daniel Robinson and 17-year-old Tayshun Wooten. Wooten is charged with carjacking, attempted carjacking, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony and first-degree murder. Robinson is charged with carjacking, attempted carjacking and first-degree murder. Memphis police say Robinson was out on bond for three counts of carjacking, three counts of employing a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony and possession of a controlled substance. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is out on bond after being charged in a stabbing at a club earlier this month.
The incident happened at 616 Club on Marshall Avenue on June 16.
Police say several people got into a fight at the club and one man pulled out a butcher knife and attacked three people. All three were taken to the hospital; one had a severed artery in his left leg, another had knife wounds in his back and upper thigh and the third had hemorrhaging on the brain, seizures and dizzy spells. Kameron Austin was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man faces charges of aggravated child abuse following an investigation into a Memphis day care.
The Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) was notified of an incident involving a two-year-old child at the Academy of Future Leaders on Madison Avenue.
Joe Craig, 29, was arrested and charged more than a month later. Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy said last week that once charges were filed, the next step would be to bring the accused abuser to a grand jury within a week. |
2 (Blacks) charged after kidnapping, robbing man at Dixie Queen 
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Two men face a slew of charges after police say they kidnapped a man at Dixie Queen and demanded money from him.
The incident happened Sunday at Dixie Queen on E Shelby Drive when two men opened the door to a Ford Mustang and got into the vehicle.
Police say the two men put a gun to the driver’s head and forced him to transfer money to their account and demanded he get more money. They then directed the driver to an abandoned home and assaulted him while demanding more money. The victim drove to a nearby home and knocked on an unknown person’s door, calling for help. Officers then arrived and took the two men into custody. One of the men attempted to run from officers and punched one officer in the eye and bit his hand. Officers identified the two men as Kylon Carr and Montrez Tate. |
(Black) Arlington man arrested after breaking in, sleeping in stranger’s home 
Arlington, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a man after he entered and fell asleep inside a woman’s home.
On June 26, officers responded to a call from the female victim, a homeowner, who said she returned to a broken door and glass all over her floor.
According to deputies, the victim discovered Donald Evans, 41, passed out and sleeping in her upstairs bedroom. Another witness, a homeowner in the area, noticed Evans going through residents’ mailboxes in the neighborhood. The female victim also notified the deputies that her backyard shed was broken into as well. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis police department has arrested and charged a man accused of attacking a woman on the back porch of her home and leaving her with serious injuries.
On May 29, officers responded to a call regarding an assault that took place near Greenlaw Avenue.
The woman was approached by Frank Adams, 36, while standing on her back porch. Police say that Adams struck the woman with his fist and then pushed her against the railing on her porch. According to police, the woman was taken to a nearby hospital for her injuries where she was informed that she had cracked ribs and a punctured lung from the attack. Frank Adams has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. |

A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly striking and fatally stabbing an emergency room doctor who was riding his bicycle along Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point earlier this week.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of PCH and Crown Valley Parkway. Vanroy Smith, of Long Beach, allegedly rammed the back of Michael Mammone’s bike with his white Lexus. After the crash, Smith got out of his vehicle and allegedly stabbed Mammone, 58, several times as witnesses tried to help the injured man, officials said. Smith was detained by witnesses at the scene until law enforcement arrived. Mammone, who worked as an emergency doctor at Providence Mission Hospital in Laguna Beach, died at a hospital. Smith was charged with one count of murder with a special enhancement that he used a deadly weapon, a knife, during the crime, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The two men did not know each other, and the motive behind the crime remains unclear. “An innocent man is dead because he took a bike ride to enjoy a beautiful California day along the beach and he was hit with a car and stabbed to death by someone he apparently never met,” District Attorney Todd Spitzer said Friday. “The murder of a complete stranger in broad daylight for what appears to be absolutely no reason is the stuff of nightmares. HOUSTON — Houston police investigators are asking for the public’s help to find a man seen on home surveillance video putting an 86-year-old woman in a headlock while they say he stole from her. It happened on Monday at a home on Robertson Street near Cavalcade in North Houston. In the video, the victim is watering plants on her porch when the suspect approaches and starts talking to her. He then grabs her by her neck and pulls her into the house. Video later shows him walking away. He was wearing a gray shirt with blue and white stripes, long, baggy black shorts and black sneakers. At this point, it’s not clear what was taken. Houston police say the woman was sent to the hospital. A former Catholic priest has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting a boy more than two decades ago at an Evanston hotel.
Kenneth Lewis, 62, entered the plea Thursday to felony aggravated sexual abuse in a deal with Cook County prosecutors that saw other charges dropped, including predatory criminal sexual assault, court records show. Lewis was immediately sentenced by Cook County Judge Anjana Hansen and will be required to register as a sex offender for life after his release. The former Tulsa, Oklahoma pastor was accused of HOMOsexually assaulting the 13-year-old boy on a trip in the summer of 2001, the Sun-Times previously reported. The boy’s parents filed a report with the Tulsa police in June 2004, nearly three years. Authorities in Oklahoma referred the case to the Evanston police, who sought charges 14 years later. Lewis was living in South America at the time a warrant was issued for his arrest and was taken into custody after flying to Atlanta in 2017. Six people have come forward with sexual abuse complaints against Lewis, who was ordered to get treatment by church officials in 1994, according to news reports. |

(Black) Man, 15-year-old both charged with murder in 2022 deadly shooting in southwest Houston
Markell Hardyway, 19, has since been charged with murder. He is the second suspect charged in the case. Another suspect, a 15-year-old, was charged with murder in April.
The teens are accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Patrick Jackson Jr. on Aug. 7, 2022. Houston police responded to reports at 2 p.m. of a shooting at an apartment complex located in the 9550 block of Deering Drive. When officers arrived, they found Jackson shot multiple times and unresponsive on the sidewalk inside the complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said Jackson and another suspect got into an argument and shots were fired, killing Jackson. Hardyway and the 15-year-old were both identified as suspects in the shooting. Hardyway, who was in custody in the Fort Bend County Jail on an unrelated charged, admitted his involvement in the incident and was charged. |

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A woman was arrested for a murder that happened in August 2015, according to a release from the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
On Aug. 11, 2015, Larry James Bradford was reported missing by family members. A week later, parts of his body were found. An arrest warrant was executed on April Gibbs after she was indicted by a Mobile County Grand Jury in June. Gibbs was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, according to the release. She was given a $200,000 bond for the murder charge and a $15,000 bond for the abuse of a corpse charge. The grand jury indicted Gibbs for murder claiming she “did intentionally cause the death of Larry James Bradford. Gibbs is also charged with Abuse of Corpse and the indictment cites she did knowingly and willfully abuse the corpse of Larry James Bradford by, to-wit: dismembering parts of his body and/or disposing of his torso in the woods or and/or exposing his body to the elements and/or scattering his body parts.” |

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Dyon McCants was sentenced to life in prison for a fatal 2020 shooting outside Phlawless II Hair Salon on St. Stephens Road.
McCants was convicted in April for the murder of D’Angelo Nisby Jr, 21, and prosecutors said he was trying to buy drugs until his drug dealer offered him $300 to kill a man across the street. Surveillance video shows McCants going across the street and shooting and killing Nisby outside the salon. He was convicted for murder, discharging a gun into an occupied building, and discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle. He is set to serve life for murder, and 20 years each on both discharging a gun charges. The sentences will run concurrent, meaning they serve them all at the same time. |

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 37-year-old man who pleaded guilty to stabbing a Bedford father and son to death in August 2022 was sentenced by Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Timothy McCormick to 30 years to life in prison Monday afternoon.
On May 23, Roger Herring pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated murder. Bedford police said Herring stabbed Christopher Pate, 47, and Christopher Pate, 19, inside a home on Magnolia Avenue around 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022. When officers arrived, they said they found both men on the floor of the home, bleeding profusely. The 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His father was transported to Marymount Hospital and then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. |

A 19-year-old is being held without bond after authorities say he fatally shot a Jefferson County man and critically wounded one of the man’s children.
Adaryon Coachman is charged with capital murder in the slaying of the victim, whose identity has not yet been released. Coachman is charged with first-degree assault in the shooting of the homicide victim’s 1-year-old son. The charge is a capital crime because the victim was killed in front of his children. Negroid and Negro arrested for shooting deaths of 2 on Rembrandt Drive
Two men were killed and two others were injured in a shooting that investigators say was sparked by an argument over the phone between two groups of men, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
The dead men were identified as Aljarez Elliott, 18, and Alzy Diamond, 24, both of Fayetteville, a news release said. Early Thursday, the Police Department announced the arrests of two men on charges of first-degree murder. The shootings were reported just before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Rembrandt Drive. Investigators said Elliott, Diamond, and several others were hanging out at a home when they became involved in a dispute over the phone with Treshaun Lewis Geddie, 21, left, and Tyrone Demetrius Washington, 21,, both of Fayetteville. Washington and Geddie went to the Rembrandt Drive home, and an altercation ensued. Elliott and Diamond were shot dead, and two other men were injured, a news release said. |

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 30-year-old Norfolk man will serve a year and a half in prison after he fatally stabbed his brother last year.
Tevin Darrell Locker was sentenced on Friday after pleading to voluntary manslaughter in the case back on April 26, according to the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Tevin killed his younger brother, 28-year-old Terrell Davon Locker, on June 5 on Hough Avenue, police said. Terrell was found on the sidewalk with a single stab wound to his neck and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy found his blood alcohol concentration was more than 0.19 when he died. Police had no leads in the case until Tevin turned himself in at the Norfolk Operations Center two nights later, accompanied by his father and grandmother. |

WAKE FOREST, N.C. —
Wake Forest Police arrested a man involved in a homicide Thursday morning.
Authorities responded around 6:15 p.m. to the 500 block of North Taylor Street.
Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Frederick Taylor. Gary Lamonte Watkins has been arrested and charged with one count of murder in connection to Taylor's death. Watkins, 55, is currently being held in the Wake County Jail. This investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released. Investigators said Kevin Lee King Jr. had a warrant out for voluntary manslaughter by use of a firearm. In a joint investigation with Pauls Valley Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, King was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Garvin County Detention Center. |

(Black) Man accused of shooting, killing Amazon big rig driver along I-5 in Lathrop arrested in Manteca
MANTECA - Authorities have made an arrest in the shooting death and crash of an Amazon big rig driver along I-5 in Lathrop earlier this month.
On Saturday, search warrants were served on the suspect in Manteca. There, authorities arrested 29-year-old Manteca resident Andrew Christopher Watson on suspicion of homicide, according to the CHP. Watson was then booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on the charge of murder. His bail has not been set. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 27. On June 15 at around 12:46 p.m., Ilkhom Shodiev, 37, from North Carolina was driving northbound on Interstate 5 near Lathrop in an Amazon big rig when, for unknown reasons, was shot. The shooting sent the big rig off the freeway and into parked cars at a nearby business before crashing into a building. Shodiev was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and later died. After the incident, CHP officers at the Stockton office responded to scene and called out CHP Valley Division investigative services unit to investigate the incident. Over the course of the next week, investigators spoke with witnesses, gathered surveillance camera footage, and received additional help from the public to identify the vehicle and Watson. On Saturday morning, CHP SWAT officers in Manteca served a search warrant and took Watson into custody. Watson is no stranger to the law. Former Mart footballer Zamar Kirven was found guilty Friday and sentenced to life in prison without parole for the capital murder of two former teammates at a Mart home two years ago.
A McLennan County jury in Waco's 54th State District Court deliberated for more than two hours to find Kirven, 23, guilty of the April 18, 2021 shooting deaths of Jacob Ybarra, 20, and Sabion Kubitza, 22. The victims, longtime friends of Kirven, were sleeping at the time, and witnesses said Kirven was high on LSD when he shot them. The two young men who died were cousins. Kirven had been football teammates with Kubitza and Ybarra at Mart High School before Kirven went on to play during two seasons at the University of Houston. The Houston Chronicle reported Kirven left the program after violating team rules. Ybarra's family gave Kirven a room in their home when he moved back to Mart, several weeks before the shooting. The three young men had been best of friends, smoking marijuana, playing video games, watching movies and wrestling together at the home in the 1100 block of East Texas Avenue in Mart, according to testimony at the trial. Police arrest (Black) suspect for murder of human being in Killeen Texas
The Killeen Police Department has arrested a 29-year-old suspect on a charge of murder for the December 2022 shooting and death of a Killeen resident.
Demetrius Isaiah Patterson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Keith Reed on a charge of murder in the death of Clint Demetri Jones, 35, on Dec. 24, 2022, according to a news release issued by the police department. Patterson was already incarcerated in Rockdale County, Ga., on an unrelated aggravated assault charge from Killeen. He was extradited to Bell County where he was arraigned and given a $500,000 bond. He is currently being held in Bell County Jail. In the case of the shooting, police were called to the 3300 block of Hereford Lane around 2 a.m. Dec. 24, 2022, in reference to a shooting victim. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures attempted by officers were not successful and Jones was pronounced dead at 2:44 a.m. |

Without immigration, the white population in the U.S. would have declined last year.
Immigration also propelled the expansion of the Asian population, which was the fastest-growing race or ethnic group last year in the U.S., while births outpacing deaths helped propel growth in Hispanic, Black, tribal and Hawaiian populations. Population estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau show what drove changes in different race, ethnic and age groups last year, as well as since the start of COVID-19’s spread in the U.S. in April 2020. The country had grown to 333.2 million people by the middle of last year, a 0.4% increase over the previous year, according to the 2022 population estimates. For white residents in the U.S., immigration drove the expansion. Without it, the white population, including those who identify as more than one race, would have dropped last year by more than 85,000 people instead of growing meagerly by more than 388,000 residents, or 0.1%. When the focus is narrowed to white people who aren’t Hispanic and identify only with a single race, there was a decline of more than 668,000 people in the white population since the number of immigrants couldn’t overcome the steep drop in "natural decrease" that came from deaths outnumbering births last year. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Campbellsville woman has been arrested in connection with shootings that took place in Shively last year that left two people dead and a third person injured.
According to court documents, 28-year-old Dayshawna Harris was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on Tuesday. She's charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter and one count of complicity to second-degree assault in connection with a Sept. 17, 2022, incident that left 40-year-old Vincent Miller and 28-year-old Shaquila Spratley dead. According to the Shively Police Department, the shootings took place at about 6:30 a.m. on Dixie Highway, near Appleton Lane. That's where officer found three shooting victims. Miller and Spratley were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim -- a woman in her 20s -- was taken to the hospital. Police at the time said they did not believe her injuries were life-threatening. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A shooting victim from last week has died, and police have two suspects in custody.
The shooting happened during a carjacking attempt on Cloverdale Drive.
Police say two men crashed a stolen car at South Parkway and Barksdale Street and ran away with guns and ski masks. A few blocks away, the two approached a car with two people inside and attempted to carjack them. As the driver attempted to drive away, one of the men fired a gun, hitting the driver. The two suspects left the scene on foot, and the driver did not survive. After the homicide, the two approached another man on North Diane Circle and carjacked him. That vehicle was later found abandoned. Detectives were able to identify the two suspects as 20-year-old Daniel Robinson and 17-year-old Tayshun Wooten. Wooten is charged with carjacking, attempted carjacking, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony and first-degree murder. Robinson is charged with carjacking, attempted carjacking and first-degree murder. Memphis police say Robinson was out on bond for three counts of carjacking, three counts of employing a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony and possession of a controlled substance. |

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after being convicted of killing a mail carrier who instead of delivering a large package of marijuana to his home left a note in the mailbox requiring him to come to a South Carolina post office to pick it up.
Trevor Raekwon Seward, 25, was found guilty of murder of a federal employee in the course of her duties and other crimes in the September 2019 shooting of 64-year-old Irene Pressley as she delivered mail in rural Williamsburg County, federal prosecutors said. After finding the note in his mailbox instead of the 2-pound (0.9-kilogram) package of marijuana from California he was expecting, Seward confronted Pressley a few minutes later demanding his package. The U.S. Postal Service mail carrier refused, according to court documents. Seward then got a semi-automatic rifle and waited for Pressley to come down a street in Andrews, firing about 20 times into the back of her mail truck, prosecutors said. Several bullets hit Pressley. Seward then drove the mail truck into a ditch on an access road at a hunting club, searched through it to try to find his marijuana and anything else valuable, and then left the Pressley's body in her truck, prosecutors said. The marijuana package was later found on the street where Pressley was killed, according to court records. |

SANTA ROSA -- A Santa Rosa man was sentenced to 14 years plus 100 years to life in prison Tuesday for driving his car over two people after a fight in 2021, killing one, the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office said.
Clifford Adams, 56, was convicted of murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving causing injury. Adams had three prior "strike" convictions, prosecutors said, which affected his sentencing. On March 23, 2021, Adams got into a physical fight with a man on a small side street off Sebastopol Road in Santa Rosa. After the fight, both men left but soon returned to Roberts Avenue. Adams drove up the street, turned his car around, and was stopped with his car facing the man he had been fighting with, who was seated. Adams accelerated his car and drove directly at the man, hitting him and causing a leg fracture and "major" laceration to his leg, prosecutors said. Adams also drove into Kellie Jones, who was sitting nearby on a mattress. Adams's car came to rest on top of Jones, trapping her and causing her to die from traumatic asphyxiation. |

A pair of gunmen have been found guilty in the slaying of a retired Chicago fire lieutenant during a carjacking attempt in the Morgan Park neighborhood.
Separate juries on Wednesday found Devin Barron and Jaylen Saulsberry guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting of retired Lt. Dwain Williams, who Cook County prosecutors said was confronted at gunpoint by a carjacking crew in December 2020 as he left a gourmet popcorn shop. The jury in Barron’s trial returned their verdict about five hours after deliberations began and immediately after the jury in Saulsberry’s trial retired to begin their own discussions. It took less than two hours for the second panel to reach its decision But in a surprise on Tuesday, the third co-defendant, Dwain Johnson, took the stand to testify against Barron and Saulsberry after Johnson accepted a plea offer from the state’s attorney’s office mid-trial that saw his murder charge reduced. A fourth defendant, a teenage boy who was 15 at the time of Williams’ death, had his case adjudicated in juvenile court and also testified against Barron and Saulsberry. |

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) –The defendant didn’t get far after he reportedly shot and killed a 27-year-old man a year ago at a party on Oliver Street.
Fort Wayne patrol officer Jason Fuhrman caught Issac D. Martin, Jr. peeling out of Oliver Street onto Pettit Avenue, just after the officer heard shots in the area. After the deadly events on June 12, 2022, Martin, now 30, was charged with murder in the death of Dequavius Devonte Tyler, 27, along with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and an added charge of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Tyler died of multiple gunshot wounds. Martin was quickly taken into custody after Fuhrman initiated a pursuit that zigzagged through the south side. Fuhrman had driven toward the area after hearing gunshots as he sat in his patrol car writing a report. Fuhrman witnessed Martin run a stop sign and swerve at a high rate of speed, Furhman testified. The chase ended when Martin ditched the black Mazda SUV in an alley north of the 800 block of East Rudisill Boulevard and jumped out to flee on foot. Police found Martin hiding under a parked truck on East Rudisill, lying in a prone position with his arms out. |
(Black) Man wanted for throwing 4-year-old child from moving car in Georgia, police say
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County Police are searching for a man they said threw a 4-year-old child out of a moving car after getting into a domestic dispute with the child's mother.
Police responded to The Park at London apartment complex in Ellenwood around 9:30 a.m. on June 12 in reference to a domestic dispute. After they got there, a woman claimed that 24-year-old Amir Thomas hit her while she was holding her infant. During the altercation, the woman alleged Thomas stole her money and phone and proceeded to drive away with her 4-year-old child in the car. As Thomas drove toward the front of the apartment complex, police said he threw the kid out of the moving car. Police said the woman sustained injuries from the altercation and the 4-year-old had injuries to their mouth. A warrant is now out for the arrest for Thomas, who police described as armed and dangerous while also having "violent tendencies." He faces charges for kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts of first degree cruelty to children, battery (family violence), and theft by taking. PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The man convicted of raping a woman in Love Park back in 2020 was sentenced on Wednesday.
A Philadelphia judge sentenced Quindell Campbell to 13 to 40 years in prison. Campbell, who had no prior criminal record, raped a woman as she was headed to work at 5:20 a.m. on January 25, 2020. Officials say the victim was walking through Love Park on her way to work when Campbell approached her from behind. They said he punched her several times, knocked her to the ground, and then raped her inside the park. |

COVINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - A Covington man has turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest following an alleged domestic violence incident over the weekend.
Covington police say 37-year-old Corey Brown, of Covington, allegedly strangled and assaulted his girlfriend, a mother of two young children, and then shot at her as she ran away from the house. “I commend Mr. Brown for stepping up and doing what is right in this case,” said Covington Police Chief Donna Turner. “This arrest will ease tensions in the South College Street area of the community in the aftermath of the incident.” Police were dispatched to the home at the 1200 block of South College Street at approximately 4:20 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers witnessed Brown fire multiple gunshots at the victim while both ran from the house. Wanted (Black) murder suspect: Man gets away after SWAT standoff following deadly shooting in Gwinnett County
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A man is facing charges following a deadly shooting that lead to an hours-long SWAT standoff with Gwinnett County Police Sunday afternoon.
Detectives said 19-year-old Christian Houston is being charged with felony murder, among other crimes. Houston is a wanted murder suspect as of Monday. Officers responded to a person shot call at a home in Grayson just after noon on Sunday. After they got there, they learned that one person was dead and the alleged shooter, Houston, was holed up inside the home. Gwinnett County officials later revealed that after the investigation the victim, identified as 38-year-old Rodrell Dobson, arrived at the home on Roseberry Lane to pick up one of his family members. Houston then shot him in the driveway and left the home, officials said. There were more than 20 units on scene in a neighborhood along Roseberry Lane near Trip Elementary School. The standoff blocked the street for hours. After seven hours, SWAT managed to get inside -- but no one was found alive inside, according to police. |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man is heading behind bars after being sentenced for killing his mother and ex-girlfriend, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Charles Jones, 28, was sentenced to serve 50 years in prison. He previously pleaded guilty to two charges of manslaughter in the first degree. In July 2019, Buffalo police located Jones’ ex-girlfriend, 28-year-old Jacquetta Lee, deceased in a bathroom inside her apartment on Main Street. Authorities say she had been stabbed repeatedly by Jones and was found approximately three days after she was killed. Also in 2019, Jones, police say, caused the death of his mother, Alethia Atwood Williams, 52, by stabbing her repeatedly inside her Jefferson Avenue apartment. In August 2019, police arrested Jones for the homicide of Lee. A search warrant was executed at the Jefferson Avenue residence where, police say, they located Atwood Williams’ DECOMPOSING remains inside a closet. She had been dead for approximately two weeks, according to police. As part of his prior guilty plea, Jones waived the rights to pursue a motion under the “Domestic Violence Survivor Justice Act.” He pleaded guilty to reduced charges under the agreement that he would serve the maximum sentence for his crimes. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting in the Wilder Park neighborhood on Saturday night.
According to court documents, 43-year-old Delanie Nolen was arrested by officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department on Sunday afternoon. Police said a man was shot in the 4300 block of South 3rd Street, near the Watterson Expressway, around 10:15 p.m. He died at the hospital. Nolen is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning. He's currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections. |

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WTOC) - Brunswick Police are looking for a man in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, police secured warrants for 21-year-old Breon Hartley for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Police say officers responded to a shots fired call on the 2600 block of Johnson Street where they found Mykal Ellis shot multiple times right outside of his home. Ellis was walking home from a friend’s house. According to police, Ellis died at the scene. Hartley is considered to be armed and dangerous. Police say do not approach him. |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man will spend the next 25 years in prison for fatally strangling his girlfriend in 2021, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
On or around the late evening of January 29 and into the morning of January 30, 2021, 29-year-old Andre Whigham of Buffalo strangled his girlfriend, 22-year-old Tiara Lott, inside of an apartment on Gold Street in Buffalo. Her DECOMPOSING body was found some two weeks later, alongside railroad tracks near Wex Avenue on February 13 after her family reported her missing. Whigham was charged with one count of manslaughter, which he pleaded guilty to on February 16, 2023. |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 22-year-old Buffalo man was indicted on a murder charge and a weapons charge in connection to an alleged fatal shooting on Bailey Avenue in April, the Erie County District Attorney announced Friday.
It is alleged that on around 2:25 a.m. on April 2, Ryan Crawford shot 38-year-old Duryll Anderson with an illegal handgun on the 800 block of Bailey Avenue. Anderson died from his injuries. Crawford is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted of the highest charge, he faces 25 years to life in prison. He is being held without bail and is set to return to court on July 5. |

HERNANDO, Miss. (WMC) - A Panola County woman has been arrested and charged after she allegedly brought her dead 22-month-old daughter to the hospital on Wednesday.
Hernando police were notified around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday that 22-year-old Quantella Vonsha Towns, of Como, Mississippi, arrived at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven with her dead toddler. Officers and investigators responded to the hospital and met with staff, the county coroner, and Towns. After several interviews, investigators came to the conclusion that there were multiple inconsistencies in the story Towns told about the death of her child. A warrant for her arrest was issued for child deprivation of necessities with substantial harm. |

BEXAR COUNTY – A mother was arrested and a 25-year-old man is still on the run after Bexar County deputies said they were involved in the abuse of a five-month-old baby boy.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Sunday that deputies first responded to Christus Hospital on June 16 after Jeida Rodgers, the baby’s mother, brought him in, lethargic, with multiple injuries. When deputies arrived, they learned the baby had fractures to his wrist, six to eight ribs, his vertebrae, and bruising to his forehead. Sheriff Salazar said the child also had bite marks on his face and injuries consistent with a bottle being shoved into his mouth. The sheriff said the child also tested positive for THC. Investigators later learned that Rodgers’ on-again, off-again boyfriend Corey Alexander Berry had been caring for the child for several weeks and was behind the abuse. |

Karall Tamichael Dixon, age 30, has been charged with murder as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent felony, as stated by the Chester County Sheriff’s Office as well as the records from the jail and the court. These records indicate that Karall has been charged with both of these offenses. An individual from South Carolina has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Chester, according to the officials who work for the sheriff’s office.

A Houston area mom was arrested for allegedly dangling her infant son out of a third-story apartment window, police said.
The Harris County Constable’s Office says 23-year-old Greondria Whitfield is charged with child endangerment and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. OAKLAND, Calif. - Delonzo Logwood entered a no-contest plea to a 2008 manslaughter case with a firearm enhancement in Alameda Superior Court Thursday, county officials said.
Despite pleading no-contest to voluntary manslaughter, the result is still a "guilty finding" by the judge and can result in a sentence of 12 years. However, the actual sentence could be shorter because of time served credit. Logwood had faced one count of murder for the slaying of Eric Ford until today's hearing. Logwood was previously additionally charged for the murders of Richard Carter and Zaire Washington, in the triple Oakland homicide, but these charges were dismissed in May at the request of Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price after a witness refused to testify. |

Izel Nash, 29, is charged with second-degree murder and several other felonies after authorities say he and aspiring THIEF Alonzo Jones, 35, attempted to rob two people May 6 in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood. One of the would-be victims pulled a gun and exchanged gunfire with the suspects. Jones was killed in the exchange, and he was found dead just after 8 p.m. in the 1500 block of Destrehan Street. CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland man who killed his girlfriend and buried her body in Pennsylvania was sentenced to life in in prison by Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Timothy McCormick.
Anthony Kennedy’s first chance at parole will first come after he serves 20 years. On Tuesday, Kennedy, 43, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence and offenses against a human corpse for the death of Adrianna Taylor, 23. Taylor was officially listed as missing by Cleveland police on Nov. 13, 2022. Her body was found in the backyard of a home in the 800 block of Hill Avenue in Wilkinsburg, PA on Nov. 24, 2022 officials said. 19 News has learned Taylor’s body was found inside of a tote bag, which was placed inside a bigger construction bag. The bags were found under wet and dry concrete. Police in Wilkinsburg were tipped off to the crime by a neighbor, who has a Ring doorbell camera that recorded “suspicious activity in front of the home,” officials said. Investigators also confirmed Taylor died from a gunshot wound to the head and the arrest warrant suggests the murder took place in Cleveland. |

Police said Chowdhury was off-duty at the time of the shooting. According to KSAT sister station KPRC, when police arrived at the scene they found a 30-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the face. A press release from HPD states the victim was also shot in the hand. The woman, who has been identified as Chowdhury’s wife, was transported to a nearby trauma center for emergency surgery. |

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (KCPAO), has charged Goosby with murder in the first degree and attempted murder in connection to the shooting. Goosby is accused of killing 37-year-old Eina Kwon, who was 32-weeks pregnant when he she died. Doctors were able to deliver Kwon's baby girl, but she died, according to the charges. Kwon's husband, Sung Kwon, 34, was injured in the shooting but has since been released from the hospital. Police described the killing as an execution in a report filed in King County Superior Court. Heather Mack pleaded guilty Friday and admitted plotting the gruesome murder of her mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack of Oak Park, during a tropical vacation to Bali.
She entered her plea in Chicago’s federal court as the ninth anniversary of her mother’s murder approaches. Von Wiese-Mack’s body was discovered in a suitcase left outside the St. Regis Bali Resort on Aug. 12, 2014. Mack was 18 at the time. She is now 27. Mack pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to kill a national of the United States. The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Her plea agreement would cap her sentence at 28 years, but only if U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly decides to go along with the deal. ATLANTA — A songwriter and music industry entrepreneur from Atlanta has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his girlfriend in Iowa.
Justin Wright was found guilty of first-degree murder in April in the death of 20-year-old Wilanna Bibbs, and was sentenced Wednesday, the Quad-City Times reported. Wright, 34, also known as J Wright, founded Camp Entertainment Worldwide in 2011. His company worked with artists that included Bow Wow, Timbaland, Kash Doll and DJ Khalid, and he became a multi-platinum songwriter working with those acts. Bibbs, an aspiring singer from Durham, North Carolina, was shot to death on May 9, 2021, at a home in Davenport, Iowa. At the sentencing hearing, Bibbs' father, Thomas Bibbs, said Wright killed his daughter over $70. The two had been dating for a few months. Scott County Attorney Kelly Cunningham said Wright and Bibbs were in Davenport visiting Wright's relatives. |

MERRIAM, Kan. (KCTV) - A 19-year-old driver was stopped at an intersection Thursday morning when a speeding car crashed into him. That teen has died from his injuries, according to court documents.
Court records stated that Uconn Coleman was charged with first-degree murder, driving under the influence, fleeing law enforcement, driving with a suspended license and transporting an open container. Police said an officer tried to stop a black Ford Fusion traveling at a high rate of speed on southbound Antioch Thursday before 1: 30 a.m. A vehicle pursuit was not initiated by the officer and several seconds later, the Fusion struck a gray Honda Accord that was stopped at the intersection of southbound Antioch and Shawnee Mission Parkway. The teen driver was critically injured, and a female passenger also suffered injuries. |

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday and accused in connection with a Jacksonville double murder in March.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, two men were shot and killed inside a Fort Caroline Road apartment on March 1. JSO said interviews and evidence pointed to Darien Mixson as the suspect in the shooting deaths. On Monday, an arrest warrant was obtained and served on Mixson, who was already in jail on other charges. JSO said in March the Ribault High School student was facing multiple charges — including car theft and possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent — in connection with the shooting. JSO said it used GPS and a K-9 to help track down Mixson who was accused of taking a car from the crime scene. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a witness inside the apartment called 911, and a family member told News4JAX when police arrived they found a man, identified by family as Craivon Aiken, and another man dead. |

According to JSO, John Dawsey, 34, was found shot on a sidewalk in the Woodstock neighborhood on Dec. 23 and died at the hospital. Witnesses told police several suspects ran from the scene but they did not have a description. The day after the shooting, a man was arrested and accused of accessory after the fact. It wasn’t until this week a second suspect, Anthony Jones, 34, was arrested and accused of murder. |

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting Monday in downtown Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report, a murder investigation led to the arrest of Quincy McFadden Cromer, 35, after police responded to a shooting around 8 a.m. at the intersection of North Broad Street and West Ashley Street. When officials responded to the call they found a man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries. JSO said the shooting might have been the result of a dispute. Investigators believe someone was throwing rocks at vehicles in the area and it escalated to a shooting between strangers. The shooting happened next to the Clara White Mission, which is a nonprofit that feeds, houses, and gives job training to those in need. Gerod Fields and George Prince Jr. were accused of killing Iyana McGraw, who was gunned down in 2019. She was 19 at the time, pregnant and four days away from giving birth. Her baby was delivered, but died months later. Fields pleaded guilty to the crime. But Prince will go before a jury this week to decide if he is convicted for the death of McGraw and her baby. According to the affidavit, the mother, Brittney Jackson told police her boyfriend, Jaylon Hobson physically attacked Samuels several weeks ago and that the child became unresponsive. Jackson told police Hobson tried to revive Samuels but she never regained consciousness, and Jackson did not try to help her child. The affidavit states Hobson placed the child’s body in several garbage bags and stored the body in the house until June 15. Jackson confessed that the 4-year-old was dumped in the garbage container outside of the apartment. The mother identified the garbage containers when police showed her pictures. |

According to a Facebook post from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Donnisha Goodman turned herself in and was arrested on June 12 in Portsmouth. Goodman was wanted in connection to the death of 25-year-old Ty’osha Mitchell on May 6. Officials say Mitchell was found by a jogger on the side of Old Williamsburg Road in York County with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other suspects have been arrested in connection to Mitchell’s murder: 24-year-old Jamica Danielle Langely, 18-year-old Acacia Jackson, 24-year-old Hezekiah “HK” Janile Carney, 20-year-old Jayquan Jones. Police say those four suspects are charged with second-degree murder and conspiracy. They also say that they are members of Norfolk’s faction of the Mad Stone Bloods gang – also known as the Vietnam Baby Gorilla gang. Court records indicate that Mitchell was assaulted by three women at her apartment in Richmond just hours before she was killed and that the attack was part of “beating her out” of the gang, meaning that she would no longer be a member |

OLIVEBRANCH, Miss. (WMC) - Olive Branch Police arrested two men in connection to an armed robbery and shooting on Wednesday.
Marco Gentry, 19, and Brandon Brinkley, 19, are charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Officers responded to a call on Goodman Road/ Highway 305 concerning a robbery and shots fired. Gentry and Brinkley are accused of robbing a man who was shot during the robbery. The victim left the scene in his car but crashed at Highway 302 and Alexander Road. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his gunshot injuries. After searching the area, officers found Gentry and Brinkley. Brinkley was also shot and taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. It is unclear how the second suspect was shot. |

A Florida man suspected of squatting for months in the residence of a homeowner who was aboard has been arrested.
The homeowner told FOX Orlando he was in New Zealand, where his wife owns property, for seven months and became suspicious when he noticed his electric bill had increased. The Ocala Police Department said Ze’Moye Brown, 26, had been defiling the home for months. When the unidentified homeowner returned from his trip, he saw the door to the house ajar and trashed inside. No one was inside. He called authorities to report several stolen items, including a scooter, guns, tools and his social security card and deed to the house. He said he slept in a closet in case someone returned. "I open my eyes, and here’s this guy at the bedroom door, looking straight down at me," the homeowner said. "I freaked. I jumped up with my pistol and said, ‘Get the f--- out of my house!’" The men then began arguing over who owned the house. Brown said the home had been vacant for three years and screamed at the homeowner to get out. The homeowner fired a shot into the floor and told Brown he would call the police. When officers arrived, they asked if he wanted to press charges. |

"Two subjects threw a brick at the door and crouched at the corners of [a] residence, waiting for someone to exit. While that was happening, one person served as a lookout at a home across the street, while one stayed in the car," the department said in a statement, describing what "appeared to be an ambush-style home invasion." "When no one answered, the subjects fled, committing multiple traffic violations while leaving the area," police added. "Patrol units initiated a traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply. While fleeing, the vehicle struck a curb and all occupants fled on foot." The suspects, which eventually were tracked down by law enforcement, were identified as Javion Stephens, 18, Kenyatta Stephens, 19, Kaiymon Stephens, 20 and Gregory Milledge, 21. |

A white Starbucks manager who was fired after two black men were refused access to a Philadelphia store bathroom — triggering nationwide racial protests — has been awarded $25 million by a federal jury after she argued she was axed because of her race.
Shannon Phillips, a regional manager who oversaw several Starbucks locations across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, argued in a lawsuit she was cut loose by the coffee giant after viral footage of the two black men being arrested in 2018 sparked a firestorm of racial backlash. Phillips argued she had nothing to do with the arrests but Starbucks management used her as a “scapegoat” in order to prove the company was taking action amid the controversy. The jury’s verdict, handed down on Monday, found Phillips’ race was a factor in the company’s decision to sack her, which was a violation of her civil rights. Inside, the driver was found slumped over in the driver’s seat, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his head. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. A surviving passenger gave police a full report of what he said happened. The Camry’s tags showed the car was registered to 39-year-old Damarr Jones. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is accused of shooting another man that tried to take his truck.
The shooting occurred on June 10 at the Trails of Mount Moriah Apartment complex. According to the affidavit, Quendarius Turner called the police saying that he shot someone that was trying to steal his truck. Tuner heard glass breaking outside of his apartment, and when he looked out his window, Turner saw a man on the driver’s side of his truck. The affidavit states that Turner grabbed his gun and began firing shots at his truck because the man was in it. The man attempted to run, but Turner caught him, took him back to the apartment, and called the police. |

OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - Oxford Police arrested two men in connection to separate burglaries on the same street.
Multiple burglaries took place on Anchorage Road and Old Sardis Road on June 5. Police arrested Dewayne Pegues, 19, who is charged with 32 counts of burglary from a car. A Justice Court Judge gave him a $75,000 bond, but it was revoked due to Pegues being out on a felony bond. About two weeks prior, another man burglarized cars in the same community. Javonteze Johnson, 21, is charged with 12 counts of burglary from a car. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a Memphis man has been arrested and charged after committing multiple burglaries throughout the Mid-South.
On June 8, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Cameron Houston, a Memphis man who had been suspected of several burglaries in the area. When police arrived at his address, Houston was apprehended and was also in possession of a stolen handgun, which was traced back to a recent car burglary. Houston was taken into custody and later confessed to his crimes. |

Travis Borner and Damion Thomas are both charged with aggravated assault. Jamonte Poindexter is charged with two counts of aggravated assault Police were searching the area of Sunset Street and Mount Olive Road on Friday at 3:30 p.m. regarding a homicide when a blue Mercedes sped up on the MPD vehicle from the rear. According to MPD, the Mercedes cut in front of the officer’s vehicle and stopped sideways on the road, blocking their path. There were four suspects inside the Mercedes. One suspect sat in the rear passenger seat with a handgun pointed out the window toward the officers, according to police. Another suspect sat in the open window area of the rear driver’s side and pointed a handgun across the vehicle’s roof. Officers were able to escape and called for backup. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Police Department arrested a man accused of shooting at a driver after a road rage altercation on I-240.
Corey Wallace, 39, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm in a dangerous felony, convicted felony in possession of a handgun, and theft of property $1,000 to $2,500. The driver of an Audi told police a man, later identified as Wallace, sped up behind him on Mount Moriah on Wednesday. Wallace approached the passenger side of the victim’s car and waved a black handgun, said police. The victim attempted to take a picture of Wallace’s licensee plate when the suspect shot 4 or 5 times hitting the front right fender and the passenger door, said police. After Wallace drove away heading toward the Perkins exit, the victim pulled over to the emergency lane and called MPD. Officers were able to locate Wallace with a partial license plate number. |

LATHE, Kan. — A man from Arkansas is charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly attacking a liquor store employee.
Amanjit Singh made his first appearance in Johnson County court on the charge Monday. Shawnee police responded to Stonebridge Liquors at W. 67th Street and Nieman Road Friday afternoon. The victim told investigators a man walked into the liquor store as she worked and attacked her with a knife. The complaint shows Singh is accused of stabbing the victim multiple times. He is held on $500,000 bond. A judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 22. Police say the victim remains hospitalized. |

TWO HISPANIC Charlotte murder suspects arrested at U.S. border, authorities say 
Two murder suspects were arrested at the U.S. border Friday in connection with a killing of another man in an east Charlotte neighborhood last month, police said.
The men fled to Mother Mexico after killing Juan Santiago-Flores, 24, on Milton Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a statement announcing arrests on Monday. Officers found Santiago-Flores shot May 15 at about 1 a.m., and paramedics took him to the hospital, where he later died. Erik Espino-Perez, 20, and William Espino-Perez, 25, were taken into custody while trying to reenter the U.S. at a regulated border crossing, CMPD officials said Monday. It is not clear which port of entry they were arrested at. The FBI and Customs and Border Protection helped local police. Police charged both men with murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempted murder. Marcus Ealy, 20, was arrested June 1 in connection to the early-morning shooting death of 22-year-old Marcus Johnson Jr. in an industrial area near the Golden Glades interchange in late May. Immediately after the shooting, law enforcement was looking for a Nissan Maxima. They spotted it and then followed it into Everglades Holiday Park and a dead end. The suspect had nowhere to go — so he ran. The video shows police holding Ealy at gunpoint. He then tried to run again. Finally Hollywood police were able to get him into custody. Sources believe Ealy was the shooter in the murder. He faces a variety of charges, including murder. A second suspect in the shooting hasn’t been caught. |
44-year-old (Black) man charged with involuntary manslaughter in deadly attack on Indy's near north side
INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD announced an arrest in a man's murder on the city's near north side in February 2023.
On June 6, IMPD homicide detectives sought a charge of involuntary manslaughter for 44-year-old Rindell Williams, who was already in custody on unrelated charges. Three days later, police presented Williams with the new charge of involuntary manslaughter in the murder of Micheal Boyer. Police arrived and found Boyer, who was unconscious. Medics at the scene believed Boyer was unconscious due to intoxication, and he was taken to IU Health-Methodist Hospital. Later in the day, officers responded to the hospital after medical staff found multiple injuries on the man's body. Aggravated Assault detectives began an investigation, during which a man, later identified as Williams, claimed responsibility for Boyer's injuries. Detectives questioned Williams and released him, pending a further investigation and review by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting that took place in Elliot Park in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.
According to court documents, 21-year-old Yussuf Ali was arrested on Wednesday. Police said the shooting happened just before 1:40 a.m. on May 31 near the intersection of South 28th Street and Elliot Avenue. Ali and the victim -- a man in his early 20s -- were riding in a car, when they both got out at Elliot Park, according to court documents. Police said Ali then pulled a gun and demanded money from the victim. When the victim refused to turn over his money and valuables, Ali then fired warning shots into the ground and into the air. Police said the victim still refused to turn over his valuables. That's when Ali shot him several times in the stomach, according to court documents. When the victim fell to the ground, Ali allegedly shot him again in the arm. He then went through the victim's pockets. As he was getting ready to leave, Ali noticed that the victim was trying to crawl away, according to police. At that point, he allegedly pointed the gun at the victim's head and fired. Police said the victim used his leg to shield his head from the bullet, and he was shot in the foot instead. Ali then fled the scene, according to police, and bystanders came to the victim's aid and called police. |

Police say Morgan's 6-year-old son got ahold of an unsecured gun and shot his baby brother in the face and the shoulder in the 640 block of Tennessee Street the night of June 7. The child is expected to survive. |

WARREN, Mich. – A man is in custody after two women said he sexually assaulted them at gunpoint inside a vacant Warren home.
Last month, two women separately came to Warren police to report they had each been sexually assaulted by a man they first met online. Both women reported that they had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint inside a vacant home on Coleen Avenue. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Orlando Lavale Marshall Jr. from Warren, Michigan. He was arrested after police said they interveined when he was attempting to sexually assault a third woman. |

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect in the murder of an Augusta 13-year-old is now in Richmond County jail after being sent from Pennsylvania, where he was arrested.
Gregory Thornton was arrested last month in connection with the murder of Buddy Brown Jr., who was killed in downtown Augusta when he went downstairs from his apartment to pick up a food delivery. Thornton, who’s from Baltimore, was staying in Augusta at the time of the shooting death of the boy. Thornton was in the Charles B. Webster Detention Center as of Tuesday morning, according to deputies. |

Her stepfather, George Wilson, was soon taken into custody. After a three-day trial this week, Williams said Thursday his office secured a guilty verdict against Wilson, 76. More than five years after Houston Police Chief Troy Finner's nephew was killed, a California man has been sentenced for his murder.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office announced Friday that Charles Breed III, 30, was found guilty of murder and is set to spend 50 years behind bars for the 2018 killing. On Jan. 11, 2018, 26-year-old Terrance Leigh Finner was allegedly gunned down by Breed, who officials say was his friend from San Francisco that would visit Houston regularly. Just moments before the shooting, Terrance and Breed were at a bar off Richmond Avenue. Officials said the two left together and headed toward Houston's Third Ward, where Breed often stayed at a friend's house. Surveillance video from that night shows Terrance stopping the car in a dark area of Paige Street near Southmore. When both exited the car, police say Breed pulled out a gun, and Terrance squared up to defend himself. Breed allegedly fired his gun five times, hitting Terrance four times. Officials said Breed proceeded to take the victim's chains and satchel before rummaging through his pockets for his wallet. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A former Memphis police officer charged with first-degree murder is out of jail two years after being indicted for allegedly killing a man in the back of his squad car and later disposing of the body.
Patric Ferguson, 31, was also indicted on kidnapping and tampering with evidence charges. He was given a $400,000 bond on Monday and paid it Friday, records show. Ferguson has appeared in court numerous times since the murder of 30-year-old Robert Lee Howard in January 2021. The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office says Ferguson admitted to going to Howard’s home, abducting him at gunpoint, and later fatally shooting him in the back of his squad car while he was on duty. The former police officer also confessed to leaving Howard’s body at one location and getting help to move and dispose of his body at a different location. Investigators say Ferguson’s cell phone search history revealed multiple incriminating internet searches related to cleaning up crime scenes and how to destroy DNA evidence. Investigators also uncovered evidence showing Ferguson purchasing cinderblocks, chains and padlocks at a local hardware store. Detectives say they also obtained surveillance video capturing Ferguson shooting Howard while on duty. The former officer’s confession came after Howard was reported missing by his girlfriend on Jan. 6, 2021, and MPD’s investigation led them to Ferguson. According to investigators, Howard’s family says he was dating Ferguson’s ex-girlfriend. Investigators discovered Howard’s body on Jan. 10 north of Downtown on the Wolf River bridge. The same day, Ferguson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, official misconduct, and official oppression. |

Nisean Graves, 34, a homeless man, was later charged with murder in the fatal encounter and was held without bail during a Saturday appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court. The Baltimore Police Department confirmed the stabbing victim — who has not been publicly identified by the NYPD — is the same individual sought in connection for a slaying there. No further details were immediately available on the Maryland case, but the victim has been wanted in Baltimore since Oct. 26, authorities said. |

MILLBRAE -- Police in Millbrae have arrested two San Francisco men in connection with an armed robbery earlier this week, authorities said.
According to a San Mateo County Sheriff's Office press release, on Tuesday shortly before 11 a.m., deputies responded to the 500 block of El Camino Real in Millbrae after a report of an armed robbery. The victim said two suspects took their cellphone at gunpoint before driving off in a Gray Acura. Authorities learned the suspects were arranging meetings with victims on a social media platform and robbing them of their property. San Mateo County Sheriff's detectives were able to positively identify the suspect's vehicle and shared the information with regional law enforcement agencies. On Thursday, at approximately 3:10 p.m., detectives responded to Geneva Avenue I-280 in San Francisco after the suspect vehicle was stopped by South San Francisco and San Bruno police officers. The two suspects -- identified as 19-year-old Jermaine Williams and 18-year-old Jevonte Powell, both San Francisco residents -- and a firearm were located inside the vehicle. The two men were arrested and booked at the Maguire Correctional Facility for a separate South San Francisco robbery case. |

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A 23-year-old man was transferred to Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Thursday from Jacksonville weeks after he was arrested in connection with a North Miami Beach man’s murder.
Louis Antuwn Redmon was arrested May 17 in Jacksonville. He faces charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, attempted armed carjacking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The victim, Hershy Schwartz 39, had been found shot to death on Feb. 19 inside his car in the parking lot of a Wendy’s at 25 NE 167th St., according to police. Schwartz had been preparing to travel to New York for his upcoming wedding, but his life would be cut short before the big day. Hershey had a habit of leaving his house in the early morning hours and police said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. When he was found, his wallet was gone, along with his gun and his phone. According to an arrest warrant obtained by Local 10 News, surveillance video showed Redmon looking into Schwartz’s SUV and then opening the door, which led to a struggle. The warrant states that Redmon then backed away and shot Schwartz. According to police, Redmon, who is from Jacksonville, had been staying at the North Miami Beach Garden Inn & Suites hotel near the Golden Glades interchange before the shooting. |

ALLIANCE, Ohio (WOIO) - A 71-year-old man faces charges of aggravated murder following a shooting in Alliance this week.
Stark County Court records say the shooting happened at 5:10 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of N. Mechanic Avenue.
The man, Bobby Gene Bradford, entered into a confrontation with the victim, according to the affidavit. Officials said Bradford pulled out a revolver and fatally shot the victim in the chest. The victim has yet to be identified. Police arrested Bradford, who is currently being held in the Stark County Jail. It also set the stage for Thursday morning’s sentencing as Judge Thomas Travis presided over an emotionally charged courtroom "I pray that… you guys can forgive me for acting out of my scope of practice and causing harm," Hunter said. Hunter pleaded her case to the court, saying she acted immediately when she found Mr. Morris in distress. But Morris’s family then took the stand to paint a much different picture. |

A quick-thinking South Carolina woman helped authorities arrest a suspect in a shooting when she mouthed “help me” to an officer during a traffic stop.
Officer Kayla Wallace noticed something was amiss when she pulled over a white Jeep that disregarded a red light at an intersection in Myrtle Beach on the morning May 28, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department said this week. The female driver mouthed “help me” to Wallace repeatedly when the male passenger was not looking, prompting the officer to remove the man from the vehicle and put him in her patrol car, the department said. The distressed woman, who has not been named publicly, then told Wallace that the man had shot someone. Within minutes, the local dispatch put out a radio call about a vehicle linked to a shooting on North Kings Highway, the official statement explained. The vehicle and suspect description matched the male passenger, who was later identified as Collins Xavier Manning Bates, 29, of Columbia, WBTW reported. |

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A mother and her boyfriend are facing abuse charges after Clayton County police said a 6-year-old was beaten till he foamed at the mouth and then left unconscious for days.
Officers were called on Tuesday to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Hughes Spalding location regarding a report from the police stating that a 6-year-old was admitted unconscious. Police said the child was and still is suffering from a brain bleed, blood clot in the lungs, broken bones and severe bruising. During several interviews with the child's mother, 33-year-old Porshe Wells and her boyfriend, Napolen Ates, police said detectives discovered that an assault happened two days earlier on Sunday, June 4. Clayton County police said Ates began beating the 6-year-old after he believed the child had stolen $80 from him to give to a roommate. At first, Wells told police that she was not present during the beating, but the department said later she admitted to being there. Through the investigation, police also found out that Ates beat the child daily through the entire weekend, until the 6-year-old was unconscious. Wells told police after the assault, she attempted to wake the child with a cold bath, but that didn't work. Wells then neglected to take her unconscious child to the hospital for two days, the department said. "We also learned that from Sunday until Tuesday, Ms. Wells went to work, got her nails done, and did her normal daily duties until she decided to take her child to the hospital," the department added in their release. |

DENVER – A former Denver teacher was arrested last week on suspicion of sexual assault against a student, and police believe there could be more victims.
Charles Reginald “Reggie” Gwinn, 40, was arrested June 2 on two counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, a Class 3 felony. Both counts are related to alleged sexual assaults involving the same student between March and July of 2018. Gwinn was a theater teacher at St. Elizabeth’s School in Denver at the time of the incidents, according to police. He was employed there from 2016 through 2019, according to a statement from the school. Police said the investigation began in March of this year when a girl and her father filed a report with the Denver Police Department. The victim told police Gwinn fondled her several times during that five-month period and forced her to touch him inappropriately over his clothing. |

COFFEE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN)– A former Auburn University football player was arrested early Friday morning in Enterprise after police say he attempted to shoot a store clerk.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, officers with the Enterprise Police Department rushed to the Shell Station on Rucker Boulevard on reports of a burglary and shots fired. According to Enterprise Police, the suspect, 36-year-old Raven Gray, had gotten into an altercation with the store clerk, after which Gray got a gun from his car, went back into the station, and shot at the clerk. Police say the gunfire missed the clerk and Gray fled the scene in his car before officers arrived. It is currently unknown what the altercation was about. A shopping cart collector who killed a manager and wounded two workers at a Long Island grocery store in 2021 was sentenced Thursday to 50 years to life in prison.
Gabriel DeWitt Wilson, 33, was convicted last month of murder and attempted murder in the shooting at the Stop & Shop store in West Hempstead. Police said Wilson, a "troubled employee" who had been reprimanded for threatening and sexually harassing colleagues, opened fire in an office about 40 minutes after talking to a supervisor about transferring to another store. The slain manager, Ray Wishropp, was shot in the chest at point-blank range, police said. Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said Wilson has show no contrition or remorse and that she hopes his long prison sentence "provides some measure of justice for (Wishropp's) family, friends, and coworkers still mourning his tragic loss." Wilson fled the store after the shooting and was arrested about four hours later at an apartment building about 2 miles away in Hempstead. The area is about 30 miles east of midtown Manhattan. Wilson's lawyer said he was suffering the "lingering effects" of being shot in the head when he was 19. Wilson was involved in a gun battle in Baltimore seven years to the day before the supermarket shooting that left him and another man wounded. |

Two Maryland suspects face manslaughter and negligent homicide charges after crashing into each other in a highway construction zone, killing six road workers in March.
Maryland State Police said Lisa Adrienne Lea, 54, of Randallstown, and Melachi Duane Darnell Brown, 20, of Baltimore, were indicted Monday on charges associated with the deaths of the highway workers. Both suspects were indicted on six counts each of manslaughter, negligent homicide, and causing the death of a vulnerable individual while operating a motor vehicle, and single counts of conducting an unsafe lane change, speeding, failing to control speed to avoid a collision, following a vehicle too closely, negligent driving and aggressive driving. Lea was also charged with driving under the influence. According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates Lea was driving a 2017 Acura TLX at about 12:40 p.m. on March 22, when she attempted to change lanes. As she changed lanes, police allege, her vehicle was believed to have struck the front corner panel of a Volkswagen Passat driven by Brown. The collision caused Lea’s car to lose control, drive through a barrier to the work zone, and overturn in an area of the left shoulder where construction crews were working. When emergency personnel arrived at the crash, they pronounced six of the workers dead. Police identified the deceased as Rolando Ruiz, 46, of Laurel; Carlos Orlando Villatoro Escobar, 43, of Frederick; Jose Armando Escobar, 52, of Frederick; Mahlon Simmons III, 31, of Union Bridge; Mahlon Simmons II, 52, of Union Bridge; and Sybil Lee Dimaggio, 46, of Glen Burnie. |

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The man accused of conspiring to murder Memphis rapper Young Dolph is now facing new charges, court documents show.
Jermarcus Johnson, 26, is already charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, a felony offense. He’s now facing three counts of accessory after the fact. Johnson is one of four men charged in the case. He is being held on a $600,000 bond. “Conspiracy is a wide range of things,” said Shelby County prosecutor Paul Hagerman. “They include people that were acting in the conspiracy before the murder happened. But also the people that were acting afterwards... the charges that have been filed now against Jermarcus make it clear that he did things afterwards.” Jermarcus is due back in court Friday. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An arrest has been made after a man was shot and killed outside a South Memphis laundromat Monday afternoon.
Markel Conley, 21, is charged with first-degree murder.
According to court documents, at 12:28 p.m., Memphis police responded to a shooting call at the Elvis Presley Coin Op Laundry located at 1432 Elvis Presley Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times lying beside a car in the parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. According to court documents, surveillance video shows a man “bearing a strong resemblance” to Conley approach the victim and fire multiple shots. The victim is then seen falling to the ground. The suspected shooter then fled, witnesses told investigators. One witness positively identified Conley as the shooter in a photo lineup. He was arrested and charged Tuesday. Conley is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. No bond has been set. Court documents show he has one prior arrest for unlawful possession of a weapon in 2021. |

While most might’ve turned their nose up at the sight, the mother of three and her grandpa Bob, 76, decided to set up a camera to see if the carcass would attract any critters at night. “Me and my grandpa put up a trail camera to see if we could see animals and we got a bobcat [on camera], which was pretty cool,” the Canuck described. Little did she know, that wasn’t the only bloodthirsty beast they would catch on camera. “I came the next day and grandpa said he’d got naked people on the camera and I said ‘no you didn’t … bulls–t’ so he showed me,” Stanhope recalled. Though several states have moved to legalize marijuana in recent years — including Virginia in 2021 — the drug remains illegal under federal law. Marijuana remains a controlled substance federally, just like heroin and cocaine, and it’s a federal felony to use it while armed with a gun. Police charged a funeral service company owner Wednesday, one day after he allegedly shot two people during a burial that his company was organizing at a Maryland cemetery.
One of the victims, 30-year-old Ronald Steven, was a pallbearer, police said. He died at the hospital shortly after Tuesday's shooting at Washington National Cemetery. A second victim, an adult woman, suffered a graze wound. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit charged 48-year-old Wilson Chavis with first and second-degree murder, attempted first and second-degree murder, and related charges. The violence erupted during the funeral of 10-year-old Arianna Davis, who was shot while riding in a car with her family in Washington, D.C. on Mother's Day, CBS Baltimore reported. Davis died three days later. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the girl's shooter. After the deadly incident at the cemetery, Prince George's County Major Crimes Division Commander David Blazer said the shooting was not related to the funeral. An Oklahoma board has denied clemency for Jemaine Cannon, who was convicted of the 1995 murder of Tulsa resident Sharonda Clark.
The 3-2 vote clears the way for Cannon's July execution by lethal injection. "I am deeply disheartened that the act of defending my life and the acts that she initiated against me ever happened," Cannon, who insists the killing was an act of self-defense, told the board via a video feed. "The ending of human life was never desired, planned or premeditated." A state board in Oklahoma voted Wednesday to deny recommending clemency for a man convicted of stabbing a Tulsa woman to death with a butcher knife in 1995, clearing the way for his planned execution next month. In a 3-2 vote, the Pardon and Parole Board voted against clemency for Jemaine Cannon, 51, who is scheduled to receive a lethal injection on July 20. The following day, her 19-year-old daughter, Salia Hardy, allegedly helped Craig dispose of her grandmother’s body. Alexus Nelson, 27, appeared in Arapahoe County District Court where she learned of the charges against her. Detectives also observed that the fireplace had recently been used. Police responded to the apartment last Tuesday for a welfare check related to Maha after a phone call from her grandmother about "concerning text messages" from Nelson. According to an arrest affidavit from APD, Nelson told officers she had given up Maha for adoption about a month ago but gave conflicting stories about that adoption and was eventually arrested on charges related to attempting to influence a public servant. There is new movement in the extradition of Kyron Fazande. He's the 22-year-old suspect in the deadly Mandina's restaurant shooting.
Fazande was taken out of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Monday and is back in New Orleans. A source confirms to WDSU extradition detectives left Monday morning to retrieve the 22-year-old and returned the same day. According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office inmate list Fazande was processed into the Orleans Justice Center just before 8 p.m. Tuesday he appeared at Criminal Court, emotionless. No bond was set, and another hearing was scheduled for next week to determine if bond would be set. Fazande is accused of shooting and killing a black waiter, Hilbert Walker III, 23, on April 28. A 54-year-old woman from Chicago who was inside at the time of the shooting was also injured. He's charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in this case. Two people found dead in Haltom City home in possible murder-suicide, police say 
Haltom City police are investigating the deaths of two people in a possible murder-suicide on Wednesday. About 12:30 p.m., officers and detectives responded to a house in the 5600 block of Santa Fe Trail, where a shooting was reported, police said in a news release.
Officers found two adults inside the residence, both dead. Based on preliminary information, police said, they are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide. A resident of the neighborhood told the Star-Telegram that the people found dead were a man and a woman. The woman was identified by relatives as Laura Carter. A family member said Carter lived with her boyfriend. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died as Shallum Jarius Bluford, 41. Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed Carter’s identity. Bluford lived at the house where he was found dead, according to the medical examiner’s records. EATONTON, Ga. — A man is dead after a shooting at a gas station in Eatonton, according to Police Chief Howell Cardwell.
The shooting happened on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Shell gas station located at 204 East Sumter Street. 32-year-old Fredrick Lamar Scott Jr. was shot and killed after an argument at a gas pump. Cardwell said they've secured arrest warrants for 24-year-old Lajuan Peire Evans. Scott was killed with a single shot to the chest. Cardwell said Evans had the gun in his hand the entire time he was pumping gas. The two were seen talking back and forth before Evans shot Scott, according to Cardwell. Evans turned himself in on Monday night and was charged with Malice Murder. The Morgan County and Putnam County sheriff’s offices assisted in the investigation. |

Bradenton police are looking for a Tropicana employee who shot another employee at the company’s plant on Monday, police said in a news release Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened at 10:24 p.m. at the Tropicana plant on 9th Street East in Bradenton. Employees said they saw Demitrius Tyrone Bell, 50, walk into the plant and shoot another employee. Bell left the scene of the shooting in a 2015 black Camaro with Florida license plate QUQF97. Police are actively trying to track him down and are asking the public to contact them if they see him. The man who was shot was taken to the hospital as a trauma patient, and police did not provide an update of his condition. Police believe that Bell and the other employee had a disagreement that led to the shooting, according to the release. No other employees at the plant were injured. Warrants have been issued for Bell’s arrest. He faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. |

For years, Henry E. Underwood wrote letters to a federal judge and filed motions that ultimately went nowhere. For years, he tried to find a loophole in the law, spouting what a judge would call “frivolous sovereign-citizen” type claims where he argued anything passed by congress didn’t apply to him under the constitution. He represented himself in legal matters until recently, requesting a public defender. Then he said his attorney was ineffective. He even tried to get married while in jail at one point – all presumably attempts to delay proceedings. But with a trial set to begin Monday and potential jurors waiting to be questioned before hearing evidence in a U.S. District Courtroom that Underwood committed racketeering and murder, that he tried to kill a federal witness set to testify in a separate case, the 29-year-old had a change of heart. And he pleaded guilty. |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Cheektowaga man was sentenced to five years of probation after he admitted to killing two of his girlfriend’s kittens.
23-year-old Moises L. Germanguerrero of Cheektowaga pleaded guilty in March to Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a Class E felony. In addition to five years of probation, the court on Monday also banned him from owning animals for the next five years. The Erie County District Attorney’s office said a necropsy determined the cause of death of both animals was blunt force trauma to the head. Prosecutors found through their investigation that Germanguerrero struck the cats in the head with his fist. “This is a disturbing case of a man who killed his own pets,” Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said in a statement. “My office will continue to prosecute animal abusers to the fullest extent of the law.” Prosecutors said Germanguerrero’s girlfriend brought her deceased cat, an 8-month-old male orange tabby named Hunter, to a veterinary hospital following the first incident in March 2021. FORT MYERS, Fla. — Former University of Florida football player Earl “Tony” Joiner was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of a Fort Myers mother in 2016.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, Joiner was sentenced for one count of second-degree murder with a firearm. He pleaded no contest as charged and was adjudicated guilty. Joiner was ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family. The alleged killer played football for the University of Florida from 2004 to 2007. Joiner was arrested on June 8, 2019, in connection to the murder of (Hispanic) Heyzel Obando. Joiner’s arrest came as the Oxygen network’s true crime TV series, Cold Justice, was in town back in 2019 investigating the case with local law enforcement. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Wales Police Department, and the State Attorney’s Office also aided Fort Myers Police in the investigation. Obando was found dead in her Crestwood Avenue apartment on Valentine’s Day 2016 in Fort Myers at the age of 26. According to the affidavit, she had been shot in the head, with one bullet entering her temple and severing her spinal cord. Joiner called 911 to report that he had discovered the victim bleeding and unresponsive. |

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Markeeta Campbell has been sentenced in connection with a deadly shooting near Fayette Mall.
Police say Campbell killed LaPorschia Stringer in 2019. The shooting happened near Fayette Mall, at the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Wilson Downing. Campbell pleaded guilty in the case back in March. She was originally charged with murder. That charge was amended to manslaughter as part of the plea deal. Campbell’s formal sentencing hearing was held on June 2. She was sentenced to 13 years. |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is in custody after police said he punched a woman in the head and damaged the memorial to fallen officers in downtown Louisville over the weekend.
Walter Richards, 38, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, not far from the damaged memorial. A Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy called the Louisville Metro Police Department for assistance after he said he saw Richards assault a woman "by punching her head with his fist," according to court documents. The victim told investigators she was at the intersection of 5th and Liberty when a man she didn't know randomly punched her in the head. The victim had "visible injuries to her forehead, including swelling and a knot." After witnessing the assault and calling LMPD, the deputy followed Richards to the "eternal flame" law enforcement memorial at 6th and Jefferson where he "began throwing trash in the flame," causing debris to run down the sides of the memorial according to court documents. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested Saturday night after police said he slipped unnoticed into a home in Louisville's Poplar Level neighborhood and tried to kidnap a juvenile.
According to court documents, Joyner Jamison was arrested just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police said the incident took place just before 9 p.m. at a home in Louisville's Poplar Level neighborhood. Jamison allegedly slipped into the home without anyone noticing. He then walked into the upstairs bedroom of a juvenile girl, according to court documents. The girl allegedly told police that he entered her room, walked around for a couple of minutes, then wrapped her in a sheet and picked her up. Police said Jamison tried to leave with her. According to court documents, she yelled and tried to fight him off. At that point, the girl's father came upstairs, saw Jamison and chased him out of the home. At some point during the chase, police said the girl's father grabbed part of Jamison's shirt. He fled the scene, but was later found at the Walgreens near the intersection of Poplar Level Road and Belmar Drive. |

A jury Thursday convicted a Jackson County man of second-degree murder in the killing of his former girl-(fornication)-friend during a domestic violence attack in South Mississippi.
The Jackson County jury returned the verdict to Judge Kathy King Jackson a short time after deliberating on the case against Terrance Sierra McNaughton, 23. After the jury couldn’t agree on a life sentence, Jackson sentenced McNaughton to 40 years in prison. He will serve the term day for day and is not eligible for parole. “The jury saw the truth and found Terrance McNaughton guilty of second-Degree Murder despite the defendant’s efforts to gaslight them,’ District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath said in a press release. “Nina Cumbest had a voice in the courtroom, and today justice was delivered.” McIlrath and Assistant District Attorney Carolyn Lewis prosecuted the case. ‘Terrance McNaughton stole a beautiful soul who has impacted many, many lives,’ Lewis said in a release. “I am in awe of the strength shown by Nina Cumbest’s daughter, who spoke at the sentencing in this case. She demonstrated incredible bravery and poise in facing her mother’s killer.” The family and prosecutors praised the work of the Gautier Police Department and especially Detective Lt. James McGhee for their work investigating the killing. McNaughton was initially facing a charge of attempted murder in the killing of his ex-girlfriend, Nina Cumbest, but the charge was upgraded following her death months later in November 2021. Cumbest, 27, received the injuries that caused her death when McNaughton ran over her in a pickup truck near a Chevron gas station on Mississippi 57 in Gautier on May 6, 2021. Her mother, Paige Cumbest, said her daughter died at home surrounded by family. Her death came despite his prior arrests for domestic violence for attacks on her as well as her receiving domestic violence protection order to try to keep her safe from harm. PRIOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ARRESTS McNaughton had a history of arrests for attacks on Cumbest. In October 2020, Mississippi authorities first arrested McNaughton on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in another assault. Lamora Williams was in the court room, but did not appear in front of the judge early Friday morning. The case's gruesome details shocked the community, and a local funeral home covered the burial expenses of the two children. The arrest warrant for Williams said in 2017 she placed 1-year-old Ja'Karter Penn and 2-year-old Ke'Yaunte Penn inside an oven and turned it on. According to the arrest warrant, the crimes happened between midnight Oct. 12 and 11 p.m. Oct. 13 -- a span of nearly two days. She then reportedly lunged towards a mother holding a baby in her arms, causing a crowd of people watching to gasp and yell. The shouts apparently stopped the woman from doing anything to the pair and she left the grassy area in search of her next victim, the footage shows. The woman next smashed a drink onto the pavement and stole a man’s newspaper, ripping it to shreds before getting in a woman’s face as captured on video. Her tirade continued on neighboring streets where she allegedly flipped over a restaurant’s sidewalk table that was occupied by diners, tossed chairs and smashed glassware, according to footage taken at the scene. The video then shows two officers placing the woman in handcuffs as a bystander walks up and tells the cops: “she needs to not be let out — no more.” “You don’t go around beating up strange people in the street — like seven people — pulling their hair, dragging them everywhere,” he said. “Nobody died b—h, nobody,” the erratic woman shouted back at him, according to the video. The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a medical examination. She later spit in the direction of a person walking by as the officers guided her into an ambulance, according to the video. Andrew Hence, 61, is charged with aggravated arson. Officers responded to the arson call on Saturday at 1:00 a.m. on Mclemore Avenue. The victim told police that on Friday, Hence was on his lawn popping fireworks and saying, “I can do what I want. I’ll set this b**ch on fire.” Shortly after the victim’s children, who were inside the apartment, woke him up yelling, “Fire,” according to police. The victim said he was able to settle the blaze and exit the apartment. Once outside, he noticed his mother’s apartment door was also on fire and he saw Hence walking away with a red jug that looked like a gas can, according to police. Chase Harris, 19, was arrested in early May after being tied to the shooting. When officers arrived, they spoke with Erika Alexander, 34, who originally gave a false name. However, when Alexander provided her identification, records showed that she had an active warrant for her arrest. According to court documents, Alexander became irate and combative when an officer attempted to place her in handcuffs. She continued to resist arrest and proceeded to strike one of the officers in the face with her elbow. While forcing Alexander into the police car, the officer was struck three more times. The U.S. Marshals said 30-year-old Dacarrei Tovon Kinard was arrested by members of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and the Columbus Police Department’s SWAT Team at noon on May 31. The homicide happened around 5:30 p.m. on May 17. 19 News spoke to his father and sister, who said the irony is George hated guns and they never imagined he’d lose his life to gun violence. “I knew that eventually that somehow the gun violence in this country was gonna affect us directly I just never knew it was gonna be my son and we were shocked but in another way, we weren’t shocked because we know this happens almost every day so yeah we’re just stunned,” said George Jensen, George’s father. According to officials, the victim was traveling eastbound when the suspect, who was traveling in a black 2018 or newer Chevy Camaro, fired multiple shots. After the shooting, the victim crashed into a concrete median. “We all sort of knew,” said Jensen Sr. “We just knew it wasn’t good news. It was a blue Mazda we had heard on Facebook, so we knew it was him and sure enough, we got the bad news together. I’m glad we were all there together.” Norton police and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene for a report of a single-car accident. When they arrived, they realized Jensen had been shot several times. EMS transported Jensen to Akron General Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m. Jensen’s little sister Emma said he was a great big brother, but she’s furious that his life was cut short. “I’m a teacher so every day I wake up and it’s like I don’t know if I’ll be home tonight,” Emma said. “You hear of all these school shootings and it’s just, it’s so pointless. It makes no sense so the best thing they could do to honor Geo’s life is to do something about the problem and the problem is the guns.” George’s father said his son, sometimes known as “Geo” was a loving husband and his firstborn son. He said his son had a passion for music, cooking, and loved animals including all of his dogs, cats, and birds. “He was someone that was never afraid to do something different,” the father said of his son. “He would take a car apart. He was a great mechanic and also, we bought a computer earlier in the 90s and he just jumped on that and he’s been in IT his whole career. He was a good software guy.” Norton police said after the shooting, the driver of the Camaro continued eastbound on I-76 eastbound. “Well, the thing that would jump off the page to me is that he was adamant against gun violence and owning guns,” said George. “It was the last thing I would’ve thought would’ve ever happened to him. I think the thing is he and all of us in this family we know to vote for people that will help do something about this and that’s what we need. The killer then tried to take his own worthless life by overdosing. “Try to commit suicide before you do any of this,” the judge told him. “Take yourself out so you don’t kill people and try to rape 5-year-olds.” Prosecutors said Williamson, who knew the slain victim’s long-term girlfriend Nichole Guertin, had gone to the family’s home the night of Sept. 23 to smoke crack while Matthews was working the overnight shift. NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The relatives of Malcolm Johnson Jr. were grieving, as detectives continued their search for a second suspect in his recent execution-style murder in Miami-Dade County.
Surveillance video released on Wednesday shows Marcuss Treevone Ealy and his accomplice during the armed robbery that left Johnson dead early Tuesday morning in Miami-Dade’s city of North Miami Beach, police said. FALL RIVER — A Fall River man was arraigned on a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a New Bedford woman inside a local car wash on Monday.
Angelo O. Leo, 33, is charged with murder in the killing of Jessenia Simmons. Fall River police and EMS responded to a 911 call for gunshots fired at the Globe Car Wash on Broadway early in the afternoon on Monday, May 29. There, they found Jessenia Simmons’ body in one of the car wash bays. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Simmons, 45, was the mother of two children aged 14 and 16, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors said Leo and Simmons were previously in a relationship, and that Leo harassed and threatened Simmons repeatedly for years. He damaged her car, destroyed other property, sent threatening text messages and at times threatened her with a knife and gun. Simmons acquired a restraining order against Leo earlier this month Prosecutors say surveillance footage from the car wash shows Leo assaulting Simmons over the course of about a minute, dragging her out of her car, stabbing her, and then, when she was already on the ground with a serious stab wound, shooting her. |

CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - A joint investigation by the Laurel County Drug Task Force and Whitley County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of a reported fentanyl trafficker.
The two departments arrested William H. Marquez, 41, of Corbin, Friday morning after obtaining an arrest warrant and later searching his home. He was charged with trafficking fentanyl and taken to the Whitley County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $25,000 bond. |
