Trevaughn Lee Glenn Stribling-Jackson, a 24-year-old man from Pennsylvania, has been charged with one count each of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, concealment of the whereabouts of a child, and abuse of a corpse in the death of his WHITE girlfriend's WHITE 2-year-old son, Keaton Morrison.

(BLACK) Teens charged with murder, tied to gang related fatal shooting 
Two more juveniles are facing charges as adults in connection with an alleged gang crime spree that included a September fatal shooting in the west Las Vegas Valley.
Shelton Beasley and Aren Hicks, both 15, were transferred to the Clark County Detention Center this week and have been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted robbery and discharging a gun into an occupied structure, court records show. The teens are linked to a larger case involving six alleged members of the Block Boy Gang, who were indicted in October, officials confirmed Friday. Beasley and Hicks have been tied to the Sept. 9 fatal shooting of 33-year-old Andre Bryant, near Buffalo Drive and Spring Mountain Road, according to court transcripts. Two other juveniles — 17-year-old Jacorey Magdaleno and 18-year-old Jonathan Smith — were previously indicted in connection with Bryant’s killing. Prosecutors have said that the four teens lured Bryant, who was a “marijuana dealer,” to an isolated location in a residential area. The teens opened fire on Bryant, and the gunfire also struck a house in the area with two young children inside. Police who were called to the scene found Bryant sitting in a black SUV, suffering from gunshot wounds. Witnesses told police that four juveniles in dark clothing were seen shooting at the vehicle, according to Hicks’ arrest report. |
San Pablo dispute over stolen items turns into murder when victim dies 
SAN PABLO — Authorities have filed murder charges against a woman after an argument over stolen packages in San Pablo escalated into a vehicular assault and ultimately a homicide case when the victim died from her injuries.
Contra Costa County prosecutors filed murder charges on Friday against a 39-year-old woman, Dene Blakely. The charges arose from a verbal altercation between Blakely and an unidentified 60-year-old female victim who became involved in a verbal altercation regarding stolen packages, investigators said. Blakely saw the victim walking in a neighborhood and believed that she recognized the victim as an individual who had stolen one or more packages from Blakely’s residence, according to authorities. The altercation escalated into a traffic collision involving a vehicle that struck the victim, leaving the 60-year-old woman suffering from major and life-threatening injuries. Police claim Blakely drove the vehicle that collided with the pedestrian victim. |

SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – A man accused of murder in Kanawha County and arrested out-of-state has been extradited back to West Virginia.
South Charleston Police Captain Andrew Gordon confirmed Tavian Jones, 24, was extradited back to West Virginia on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023. He was arrested in Greene County, Tennessee, by the US Marshal Service on Thursday, Dec. 14. Jones had been wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of Anthony Souvanlasy of Charleston. The SCPD said earlier this month that Souvanlasy was shot in the head around 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, on First Avenue. Police said that a bicycle was found at the scene. On Friday, Dec. 8, police released security camera photographs of two people wanted in connection to the shooting. Authorities say through the investigation, they obtained a felony warrant for Jones on Dec. 9, 2023, for felony first-degree murder. According to Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt, Jones was then taken the Greene County Detention Center. He was booked into the South Central Regional Jail in West Virginia on Friday. |

An enraged North Carolina man and woman are being sought for viciously attacking a Chipotle worker after learning that their order of extra chicken would cost more, police say.
Jamel Williams, 36, and Kayla Pyle, 34, reportedly placed an order inside a Charlotte, North Carolina, Chipotle on Dec. 10 but when a 20-year-old worker there said that Pyle’s request for "extra protein" would cost more, a heated argument kicked off, according to local authorities. The unidentified worker was allegedly so upset with the interaction that she decided to end her shift early from the Indian Land eatery and go home at around 9 p.m., according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. It is unclear what was said between the arguing parties. As the worker headed for the door on one side of the dining room, Williams, who at 6-feet 3 inches tall and 300 pounds is much bigger than the worker, entered from the other side and approached the victim, police said. "He pushed her to the floor and began hitting her, pulling her hair, and jerking her around," the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Pyle then joined in and struck the victim, police said. Video footage posted online shows the attack unfolding with the Chipotle worker falling to the ground and curling up to protect herself. Customers can be heard yelling at the attackers to stop and at one point, the suspect identified as Williams, who is wearing red pants, can be seen launching a massive uppercut at the worker. |

A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged today for allegedly shooting at three people, critically injuring one, on Christmas Eve.
Deondre T. Jones has been charged with three counts of attempted murder acting in concert with an unknown person. Officers responded about 3:15 a.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired in the area of Tillman Road and Hanna Street. Upon arrival, officers located a crashed vehicle near Hanna and Tillman with two men suffering apparent gunshot wounds. Three Rivers Ambulance Authority medics took both to a hospital, where hospital staff said the passenger was in stable condition and the driver was suffering life-threatening injuries. One victim was in critical condition after being shot in the head, and another had gunshot wounds to the groin, a probable cause affidavit said. Court records refer to a third victim who was not shot but was in the vehicle’s passenger seat when shots were fired. |

A 14-year-old Florida teen fatally shot his sister in an argument over Christmas gifts, only to be shot moments later by his own teenage brother, authorities said.
The argument started when the brothers, ages 14 and 15, were out shopping on Christmas Eve Sunday with their mother and sister, and got into a spat over who was receiving more Christmas gifts, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said during a news conference. After shopping, the boys, their mother, their 23-year-old sister Abrielle Baldwin, and Baldwin's two young children, ages 6 and 11 months, went to their grandmother's home in Largo where the argument continued. That's when the 14-year-old brother "stood in the doorway, he took out his .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, and he pointed it at [his brother] and told him he was going to shoot him in the head,” Gualtieri said. ..... The 14-year-old ensued to argue with her, called her “derogatory” terms, and shot her in the chest as she was holding her infant in the carrier, the sheriff said. She fell, and the baby fell too, but was unharmed. The 15-year-old brother then came outside, and brought out a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, and exclaimed, "You shot my motherf------ sister!" and shot the 14-year-old one time in the stomach, according to the sheriff's office. |

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — A woman is in jail facing a murder charge after her young daughter was found dead in a dumpster behind a business in Phoenix on Christmas Eve. The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Sophia Simmons.
GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING: Discretion is advised. Around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Phoenix police responded to the area of 31st Avenue and Thomas Road after someone reported finding a body in a dumpster. According to court documents, officers arrived to find the body of a young girl inside a plastic tote. An investigator with the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner pulled the tote from the dumpster and found that the girl, who appeared to be about 5 to 7 years old, had multiple injuries on her body — including her arms, legs and torso. Some wounds were reportedly recent, while others were in multiple stages of healing, including scars. On Monday, someone in New York called Phoenix police to report receiving a phone call from Simmons. The caller reported that Simmons said she had beaten her daughter and that “it went too far.” According to documents, Simmons told the person she left her house after beating the child and that when she returned, the girl wasn’t breathing. After CPR was unsuccessful, Simmons reportedly kept the girl’s body at the house for five days before going to a dumpster about 4 miles away. Charleston White was arrested in Texas on charges of animal cruelty and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
The arrest was made on Monday, and White was hit with one count of animal cruelty and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. White's total bond is set at $31,000, and he is still in custody at Lon Evans Correction Center as of press time.

Florida police search for Ocala mall shooter, ask public for help finding (BLACK) suspect 
Florida police on Sunday issued an arrest warrant for Albert J. Shell Jr. after he allegedly shot and killed a man at a mall in the Central Florida city of Ocala.
Shell's wanted on charges of premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder, Ocala police said. The department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The suspect fled the scene on foot and left behind the firearm, Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken said during a news briefing. The shooting occurred in a "common area" of the Paddock Mall at about 3:40 p.m. local time on Saturday, Balken said. A man identified as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron was killed and a woman suffered a gunshot injury to the leg. Investigators said they believe Barron was targeted. Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against an Ormond Beach man accused of killing a mother and her son and leaving them and two other children to burn in a Daytona Beach apartment.
Charles Leon Ivy, 34, was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the Nov. 21 killing of (black female, negress) Den'Jah Moore, 30, and her 10-month-old son, Messiah Calixte. Ivy stabbed Moore more than 100 times, according to the State Attorney's Office. Ivy was also indicted on two counts of attempted first-degree murder of Dakotah and Dove Moore. Police said that Ivy left the 4-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy in the burning apartment. Ivy was the father of Dakotah and Dove, but Moore had custody of them, according to officials. |

Police say 44-year-old Kenneth Brown is wanted in connection to the murder of 34-year-old Maria Roque in the Austin neighborhood on Dec. 13. He's considered armed and dangerous. Her family says she was killed in front of her home near Long Avenue and Kinzie while her 8-year-old daughter was in the car nearby. The victim's 14-year-old son rushed to perform CPR but could not save her life. Maria's family said she filed multiple orders of protection with one granted just hours after her death. Austin woman obtained order of protection against suspect in her death, now sought by police Maria’s twin brother, Andres Roque, told the Tribune that (the negro ex-boyfriend) Brown had recently been in a 'relationship' with Maria and that she had left that relationship shortly before she died. “He broke her window, he was not leaving her alone,” he said. “She was at the police station every single day. Known as the Potomac River Rapist, the suspect — now identified by police as 60-year-old Giles Daniel Warrick — allegedly committed at least eight sexual assaults in Montgomery County, Maryland, and two sexual assaults in Washington, D.C., authorities said. The Potomac River Rapist would cut phone lines, force his way into homes, cover the victims’ heads and sexually assault them, authorities said. It appears the attacks became more violent over time, police said. Among the 10 victims was Christine Mirzayan, a 29-year-old congressional fellow who was sexually assaulted, hit on the head, “brutally beaten” and murdered, Newsham said. The murder weapon was a 73-pound rock, according to the FBI. But the identity of the suspected Potomac River Rapist was unknown for decades, until genetic genealogy came into play, said Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones. Genetic genealogy compares unknown DNA evidence from a crime scene to public genetic databases to identify suspects through their family members who voluntarily uploaded their DNA to those databases. A capital murder charge has been filed against Louis Lamar Simpson Jr., 26, who was being held in the Bell County Jail on Monday in lieu of a bond of $3 million. He was booked into jail on Sunday. Killeen police have said that the homicides of Deanna McGruder, 75, and Tina McGruder, 53, are being investigated at the tenth homicide case in the city this year. The victims in Friday’s shooting were identified by police on Saturday. The Bell County District Attorney’s Office charged Simpson with capital murder on Saturday. Simpson was arraigned by Judge Cliff Coleman. Both victims were pronounced deceased Friday afternoon by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson. On Friday, around 1:34 p.m., Tina McGruder called police to advise that “her son, Louis Lamar Simpson Jr., had threatened her and her mother, Deanna McGruder, and had struck her with his hands,” according to an arrest affidavit. “Ms. McGruder also advised that Simpson was in possession of firearms.” Police arrived at the home in the 2300 block of Basalt Drive. Upon arrival, one of the two patrol officers “made contact with a man, subsequently identified as Simpson, and determined that Simpson had a firearm on his person. Simpson appeared nervous and stated that he needed to leave the location. While the officers were speaking with (him), they heard screaming coming from inside the residence. Simpson was detained and officers entered the residence, where they located two women (who) had been shot. Tina McGruder had lost a great deal of blood, had agonal breathing and could barely speak. (Tina) McGruder indicated that she could not breathe. An officer asked her who had shot her and (she) answered, ‘Son.’” Tina McGruder had been shot in both the left and right sides of her chest. “The second woman, Deanna McGruder, was lying face down near the dining room area in a large pool of blood,” police said. “A gunshot entry wound was located in her left breast.” Officers provided medical care to both women until EMS arrived on scene and both women were transported to two area hospitals, police said. Deanna McGruder died at 2:41 p.m. and Tina McGruder died at 2:45 p.m. that day. A KPD detective interviewed Simpson at the jail, where he agreed to speak with police after being read his rights. “Simpson acknowledged being in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident and having been in conflict with his mother that day,” police said. “He also stated words to the effect of that he didn’t mean to kill them as he didn’t shoot ‘head shots.’ After that statement, Simpson then said, ‘But at the same time I didn’t want anyone to get up and (expletive) stop me.’” The detective then learned that both women had died, so he spoke with Simpson again. “Simpson indicated he remembered his rights from the last time I had given them to him,” according to the affidavit. “Simpson stated that Tina McGruder having put him in jail before was the worst mistake she could have made. Simpson also described how Tina McGruder was still moving after she was shot. (He) then acknowledged shooting Deanna McGruder and indicated he might have fired his weapon as many as seven times. Simpson also stated that he considered shooting (one of the KPD officers) who arrived on scene but decided not to risk doing so since (the officer) already had his hand on his duty weapon. Simpson believed the officer would shoot him first if he tried to kill the officer. Simpson blamed Tina McGruder for her death and the death of Deanna McGruder.” Police said that Simpson’s criminal history includes a prior conviction for assault causing bodily injury to a family member. Additionally, Bell County court records show that Tina McGruder filed a civil cause of action against Simpson on Dec. 7, 2021, as she sought to evict Simpson. The case was decided by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke, who represents Killeen’s Precinct 4, Place 2. When Simpson did not appear for a court hearing on Dec. 20, 2021, the court ruled in favor of Tina McGruder. The judge ordered that Simpson vacate the premises and pay back rent plus a 5% annual interest rate. |

Gerald William Spoto, of Bristol Township, was charged with indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and other offenses. The DA's office said Spoto sexually assaulted two of the boys, who were between the ages of 7 and 13 years old at the time of the assaults, between 2000 and 2004. The kids encountered Spoto through his job with the after-school program and some of their parents even hired him to babysit their children, according to the DA's office. The two other victims of Spoto were discovered after Middletown Township detectives re-analyzed two inactive cases of sexual assault filed in 2013 and 2017, the DA's office said. One of the victims told authorities they had 50 sexual encounters with Spoto between 2000 and 2003 when they were 9 to 11 years old. Another victim told police they were sexually assaulted by Spoto about 100 times. The victim told authorities Spoto also provided them with alcohol, according to the DA's office. Multiple victims reported Spoto showed them pornography, including one victim who said Spoto showed them a video of himself engaged in sexual activity with an underage male. Wintertime typically draws fewer migrants due to freezing temperatures along the southwestern frontier, but this month’s spike in crossings comes after years of mounting increases, which Republicans attribute to Biden’s more welcoming policies for asylum seekers. Many people who illegally cross the border are allowed into the US to await decisions on their claims of persecution, burdening local government resources in New York City and other popular destinations. After an initial wait period, migrants seeking asylum are entitled to work permits. The badly backlogged system of check-ins and court dates mean cases can stretch out well into the future. Nearly 2.5 million people were apprehended after illegally crossing the US-Mexico border in fiscal 2023, which ended Sept. 30. A 37-year-old man faces a charge of open murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man in downtown Las Vegas on Monday.
Keith Holland was booked into Clark County Detention Center, according to Metropolitan Police Department booking logs. At around 2:40 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the 1400 block of Main Street, near Owens Avenue, where a man in his 30s had been stabbed several times, according to police, and later died at University Medical Center. A fight that stemmed from a dispute that had lasted days between the two men led to the stabbing, according to Lt. Jason Johansson. He said Monday that both men appeared to be homeless. About 12 minutes of the call and dispatch communications were released this week by the Las Vegas Fire Department as part of a public records request. S The Metropolitan Police Department said Marvin Patterson, 42, shot a woman and three children before turning the gun on himself at a unit of the Loreto & Palacio Apartments, 7545 Oso Blanca Road. Patterson’s brother reported the grim discovery at about 10 a.m., according to police. The man told a dispatcher that he had gone to check on his brother. “I just received a text from my brother this morning,” he said in the call. The dispatcher had a hard time keeping the distraught man’s attention. At one point, he tells someone at the scene with him that “they’re all gone.” The surviving victim was rushed to University Medical Center in an “agonal” state, or near death, according to a dispatcher. A medic on board an ambulance told hospital staff that they were performing CPR on the young victim because he showed no pulse. Schinara Patterson, 34, Zi’Myra Patterson, 6, and Ki’Ziah Cone, 14, died of gunshot wounds to the head, a county spokesperson said. Their deaths were ruled homicides. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive. At the time of the shooting, Marvin Patterson was on house arrest in connection with a child sexual assault case, records show. His initial bail of $100,000 was reduced to $10,000 a year ago, records show. “We argued strenuously against the bail reduction,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told the Las Vegas Review-Journal last week. |

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Police announced late Wednesday that four people, including a minor have been arrested in connection to a teen who was shot to death in south Phoenix last month. According to Phoenix Police, detectives arrested 18-year-old Dareon Harris and a teenager on Dec. 14. Four days later, officers arrested Leonard Brown, 19, days later after investigators linked all of the suspects to the teen’s murder. A fourth suspect, identified as 18-year-old Takari Humphrey was arrested on Wednesday. On Nov. 28, just before 9 p.m., Phoenix police officers were called to an apartment complex near 7th Avenue and Alta Vista Road, just south of Southern Avenue. 911 callers reported an injured person was in front of a unit and that gunfire was heard in the complex. Officers arrived at the complex’s parking lot and found 17-year-old Marc Leyva on the ground next to a car with bullet holes, arresting documents say. Leyva was rushed to the hospital but later died. Investigators learned that Leyva borrowed his mother’s car and drove with his friend to pick up two more people to go to a liquor store. Returning from the store, as the group was getting out of Leyva’s car, Brown and a second suspect, walked up to the group, asking about Leyva’s friends’ shoes and asking what he would do “if someone pointed a gun at him,” court documents said. In court paperwork, detectives say that both of those suspects admitted to having guns with them and planned to rob Leyva when he arrived at the apartment complex. MINNEAPOLIS — Prosecutors charged a man in the shooting death of his domestic partner Sunday night in the Minneapolis neighborhood of Linden Hills.
Johnny Leroy Brown, 50, of Minneapolis, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and a third count for possessing a firearm after a conviction. Officials said around 8 p.m. Sunday, police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4200 block of Sheridan Avenue South and found a 43-year-old woman in an apartment building who had been shot. She later died from her injuries. The woman's sister, Kena Johnson, identified her as Kesha Moore. A family member reported that Brown and Moore had been "living together for the past several months and their romantic relationship had been rocky resulting in (Moore) asking (Brown) to move out of the apartment," according to the criminal complaint. A second suspect has been arrested and charged in the killing of Alex Becker, a 22-year-old repeatedly shot in his St. Paul alley after walking home from a late-night work shift in December.
Detwan Cortell Allen, 18, of St. Paul, faces aiding and abetting second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting in the city’s North End just before midnight Dec. 27. An autopsy showed Becker had been shot six times. Becker was a 2019 graduate of Como Park Senior High School. He was returning home from work at Goodin Co. on Como Avenue when he was “robbed and shot outside his home only a few feet from his door and his mother,” his aunt Hidy Hammarsten wrote on a gofundme webpage she set up to help his family. “Alex was a gentle, young man who spent his free time playing video games with his younger brothers, watching movies with his sister, and helping his friends and parents in any way he could,” Hammarsten wrote. Prosecutors charged Arteze Owen Kinerd, 20, of Minneapolis, nine days after the murder. Police said at the time they were working to identify “everyone who was present at the shooting” and determine their roles. Surveillance video showed a stolen Toyota Camry drive past Becker and soon three men running down the alley in the 500 block of West Lawson Avenue he had just walked down, according to the charges, which do not mention robbery or any other apparent motive. They say 33-year-old Turhan Sims is wanted on charges including first-degree strangulation, abandonment of a minor and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). Majors’ lawyers said she was the aggressor, alleging that she flew into a jealous rage after reading a text message on his phone sent by another woman. They said Jabbari had spread a “fantasy” to take down the actor, who was only trying to regain his phone and get away safely. The victim was taken to the hospital for a cut to his forehead. Pitts was turned over to the Wayne County Jail to await arraignment. |

TAMPA — A judge has ruled that Hillsborough prosecutors will only need to convince eight jurors, not 12, that Tampa rapper Billy Adams III should receive the death penalty if he is found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Alana Sims.
In a three-page order issued last week, Hillsborough Circuit Judge Mark Kiser rejected arguments from Adams’ defense that a new Florida law, which lowered the threshold for juries to recommend capital punishment from a unanimous vote to an 8-4 vote, should not apply to his case. Adams was arrested and charged in the case when the law still required juries to be unanimous if they are to recommend the death penalty. But the law changed to the 8-4 requirement while his case was pending. |

A St. Louis woman is facing a felony murder charge after working to rob the person who’d repossessed her Jeep — a robbery that went badly awry.
On September 7, 44-year-old tow truck company owner Jesse Jones attempted to repossess the Jeep Grand Cherokee belonging to Cortrina Donaby in St. Louis’ Hamilton Heights neighborhood. But police say 27-year-old Dwayne Davis confronted Jones and tried to "intercept" the Jeep. Jones, however, refused to give up the vehicle. Davis then shot Jones and fled to Cahokia, Illinois, in the Grand Cherokee. Police tracked the vehicle there thanks to a tracking device the dealer had put on the vehicle, and a chase ensued. Davis crashed the Jeep on the Poplar Street Bridge and was seen throwing a gun into the river. He was charged two days later with murder and robbery charges, among others. A photograph of the scene taken by the Post-Dispatch's Robert Cohen caught the public's attention since it showed Jones' lifeless body wearing bear-claw furry slippers. HOUSTON, Texas – A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday when a man allegedly beat his three children and fatally shot his wife in their home on Enyart Street, located on Houston’s southside. The suspect, identified as Keith Marion Lee, has now been charged with murder and three counts of injury to a child by the police.
Keith Marion Lee, 35, was apprehended by the authorities following a violent night that shook the greater Houston area. A suspect is in custody after three young children were beaten and their mother was found shot to death on Enyart Street on Houston’s south side. The gravity of the situation was captured by a Ring doorbell video shared by a concerned neighbor with ABC13. In the video, the injured children can be seen pleading for help, their faces swollen from the beatings. A chilling detail emerged from the footage as Lee was observed perched on the roof of a neighboring house across the street. Upon their arrival at the residence, the officers discovered a 2-year-old boy with severe injuries and an unresponsive woman, later identified as 32-year-old Christina Abner, who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, Abner was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed all three children to a nearby hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. A Springfield, Ohio, man was sentenced in U.S. District Court Tuesday to 20 years in prison for committing federal hate crimes targeting and attacking Haitian nationals residing in the area.
Izaye Eubanks, 22, pleaded guilty in August to both federal and local crimes. He admitted to committing hate crimes against at least eight Haitian nationals. “This defendant is being held accountable for repeatedly assaulting and robbing members of the Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio, because of their national origin,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division in a news release. According to court documents, in January and February, Eubanks committed various assaults, robberies and a carjacking of Haitian individuals because of the victims’ actual and perceived national origin. Eubanks would travel throughout Springfield looking for individuals he believed were from Haiti and then attack the individuals, usually by punching them and knocking them to the ground before robbing them of their money, cell phones, a vehicle and/or other personal belongings. (BLACK) Former Chattanooga officer charged with murder after autopsy reveals woman was strangled to death
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A former Chattanooga Police officer is facing charges after police say he is responsible for strangling a Hamilton County woman to death.
The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) say 43-year-old Lawrence Foster Goodine murdered a 48-year-old woman back on November 29th. The affidavit says Goodine told police he believed the victim overdosed. CPD Homicide Investigators worked alongside the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office to find the manner and cause of death. An autopsy revealed that the victim had been strangled. The report says the woman had a broken hyoid bone and other neck injuries. The affidavit also says there were no narcotics in the victim's body. Investigators also found video evidence of a fight between Goodine and the victim. The report says the video shows the woman screaming at Goodine to "stop," and then Goodine pushing her. Earlier Friday, the case was ruled a homicide, officials say. |

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man was arrested by police in Massachusetts Wednesday for a 2022 Plainfield double homicide.
The Pittsfield Police Department apprehended Dalonny Rodgers, 29, of Indianapolis, in connection to a double homicide investigation in Plainfield from Sept. 10, 2022. The arrest follows a joint investigation between various agencies and the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office. Rodgers faces two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder for his involvement in a shooting incident at the White House Suites Motel, resulting in the deaths of Jose Rolando Castaneda Varela, 34, and Alfredo Garcia, 52, both of Texas. Pittsfield Police were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation on Wednesday when they encountered Rodgers, who was wanted in Indiana. Rodgers was arrested for numerous local charges, including larceny of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, assault and battery of a police officer, furnishing a false ID, and marijuana possession. Rodgers was transported to a Pittsfield detention center, where he is facing charges before being extradited to Indiana. |

A jury found a Las Cruces teenager guilty of murder for a fatal shooting in 2021. The shooting happened in September of that year.
The Las Cruces Police Department investigated the shooting death of Mathew Portillo on Sept. 5, 2021. He was walking home that night from a restaurant and was intoxicated, according to the police investigation. Las Cruces police found 19-year-old Jamari Sanchez got into an argument with Portillo from inside a vehicle. He was charged with second-degree murder and was found guilty by a Las Cruces jury. Portillo was attempting to walk home, away from his parked vehicle, on surveillance video, according to Las Cruces police. Another video showed a vehicle driving up next to Portillo when he was shot and killed. Portillo was found on the sidewalk dead with one gunshot wound. He was found at the 1000 block of East Juniper Avenue. |

A Brooklyn woman who fatally beat her 9-year-old daughter — ignoring the little girl’s pleas of “Mommy, help me” — was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Friday.
Shemene Cato, 50, was handed down the sentence by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Donald Leo for killing daughter Shalom Guifarro inside their Crown Heights apartment on May 15, 2022, the District Attorney’s office announced. Cato — who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in October — beat Giufarro and her 13-year-old sister with an electrical cord and a broom for two hours over a missing tablet, prosecutors say. Guifarro tried to escape the relentless attack by hiding under a bed but Cato pursued the child, lifting the bed and then dropping it on the girl’s head, after one of the bed’s legs broke off, the DA’s office said. The mother ignored her daughter’s pleas for help as she bled internally, prosecutors alleged. Guifarro died from blunt force injuries to her head, face and body, the Chief Medical Examiner later determined. The elder daughter survived but suffered lacerations and contusions to her lower body. TRADITION, Fla. (CBS12) — A man was charged with attempted first-degree murder after being accused of a shooting in the quiet community of Tradition.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, Davontay Mosley, 24, is responsible for the shooting that happened on Dec. 13. Mosely is currently being held in the Broward County Jail. He will be transferred to St. Lucie County, PSLPD says. CBS12 News reported on a 27-year-old man being airlifted to the hospital after an individual approached him in his driveway and opened fire. The shooting's location was off Southwest Stockton Place in the Town Park at Tradition Community. PSLPD says detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle and found that Mosley was one of three occupants in the vehicle at the time the shooting occurred. |

Kirk was on Westheimer after picking up dinner for his family when a group of ATVs surrounded his vehicle and tried to pull him out, Houston police said. Harper shot the father of two as he tried to drive. Kirk died in his car after crashing a few blocks away. Harper was out on bond for evading arrest when it happened. "Today is not the day to compromise, today is not the day to meet in the middle, today is not the day to negotiate," prosecutor Chandler Raine told the jury. "The last time that Lazarius Harper was allowed to be given rules and say you get to go be in the rest of the community, you get to go be in the rest of society, you get to go be out on bond, was one month before he killed Kevin Kirk." Prosecutors want the maximum punishment of 20 years. But defense attorneys say that Kirk intentionally ran into Harper before he shot him and they asked for probation. "Don't fall trap to those emotional pleas, that's all they are. Only one person is going be affected by your decision today and that's Lazarius," defense attorney Maverick Ray said. "She ended up dying a hero. She was shot through her heart, and she was still able to safely pull over the car and save people in her car and other people who were driving. She wanted to help people, and she helped them." Daniel also shared a message with the perpetrator. "Just think about … what you took from this world and what she could have done," he said. "Lay that on your conscience, whoever did this. Just know … you took our baby girl." Houston homicide Det. Caleb Bowling said Wilson was driving toward Galveston with two male friends from Whitney when she moved into the right lane and unintentionally cut off the suspect vehicle. The suspect driver, described as a Black male in his 20s driving a black sedan, allegedly accelerated and "overtook" Wilson's vehicle on the driver's side before he began firing. Wilson was shot multiple times and died at the scene. SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Police said federal officials have made an arrest in connection with a homicide investigation that was launched in South Charleston earlier this month.
Tavian Jones has been charged in connection to the murder of 37-year-old Anthony Souvanlasy, of Charleston, according to a news release from the South Charleston Police Department. Investigators said Souvanlasy was shot in the head along First Avenue the morning of Dec. 7. |
Hartford police crack yearlong murder probe with arrest of (BLACK) suspect 
Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Hartford have made an arrest in a homicide case.
Detectives say the arrest of Daniel White, 24, of Hartford, culminated a year-and-a-half long investigation into a shooting on Zion Street. It was May 19th of last year when they say they spotted a vehicle traveling along Zion Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle hit a parked car and a police cruiser before finally crashing into a police substation on Affleck Street. The driver and a passenger had been shot. Daryl Walker of Bloomfield later died. White was already been behind bars in Virginia on other charges. He faces murder, criminal liability and assault charges in Walker's death. |

CINCINNATI —
A man is facing a possible sentence of up to 19.5 years in prison, accused of trying to have a witness murdered, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers.
Powers announced the indictment of Charles Mosley, 60, for allegedly trying to have a witness murdered. He has been indicted for one count of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and intimidation of a witness. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum possible sentence of 14 to 19 and a half years in prison. Powers said Mosley was indicted in 2022 on two counts of rape, two counts of felonious assault and one count of aggravated menacing after he was accused of assaulting and raping his ex-girlfriend. On Sept. 13, 2023, Mosley pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault but denied the counts of rape. The rape counts have been set for trial in January 2024, Powers said. He faces an additional possible sentence of 11 years in prison on the pending rape counts, Powers said. |

Annie Smith was shot and killed as her husband, Steven Smith, pumped gas. Monday was the first day of the retrial in Virginia Beach Circuit Court. Darrius White faces an aggravated murder charge as well as charges of possessing a firearm by a felon, four robbery charges and three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Darrius White had a trial in May, but Judge Jim Lewis declared a mistrial. A spokesperson for the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office had said that based upon a reference from a witness, the judge determined that a mistrial was appropriate. White’s brother, Michael White, is also charged with murder. He pleaded guilty in June. The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office says he is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, Dec. 14. NEW BRITAIN — The Hartford man captured as a fugitive in Pennsylvania will be arraigned Tuesday in the killing of a pregnant woman he was dating.
Vincent Blair, 46, will appear in state Superior Court in New Britain for his arraignment in the murder of Moenisha Collins who was pregnant when she died on Dec. 1. Blair is accused of shooting the 27-year-old Collins in her Fairview Street apartment after her 10-year-old daughter left for school, relatives said. Collins had been dating Blair for several months and had recently found out she was pregnant, her family said. Her 10-year-old found her mother shot to death around 4 p.m. and called for help, friends said. Blair fled to Pennsylvania where he was captured by a SWAT team after he stepped outside his motel room to have a cigarette around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 2., according to police in Bensalem, Pa. |

A homeless man has been arrested in the Nov. 9 beating death of another homeless man, according to North Las Vegas police.
Joshua Alexander Chinn, who was arrested Nov. 12, had been charged with attempted murder. Charges have been amended to murder since the victim died, according to a news release. On Nov. 9, medical personnel responded to the 300 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard where an injured man was under the metal grates of a car wash. The victim was transported to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was placed on life support but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead Dec. 9. |
Police arrest 22-year-old negro for fatal shooting of Pulaski County man 
ENGLAND, Ark. — Police have now made an arrest in the murder of a Pulaski County man that happened in July.
According to reports, 22-year-old Tamarous Dodson of England, Arkansas was charged for his involvement in the shooting death of 34-year-old Justin Williams, and for the shooting of two others at the corner of South Main and Nichols streets that happened on July 1, 2023. On December 9, 2023, the criminal investigation division of Arkansas State Police, along with the England Police Department and Lonoke County Sheriff's Office were able to arrest him at a home in England. Dodson has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of Williams, as well as first-degree battery for the shooting of one of the others. Two BLACK Men charged with murder in Norcross: Police 
NORCROSS, Ga. — Two young men were charged in connection to a homicide that happened in October, according to Gwinnett County Police Department on Friday.
Police said 19-year-old Styles Gann and 20-year-old Kevin Pacheco were charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, reckless conduct and unauthorized discharge of a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway. The two were booked into the Gwinnett County Jail; police said Gann was arrested on October 24 and Pacheco on December 7. According to the police department, detectives now believe the shooting that killed 20-year-old Edward Thompson stemmed from a fight between him and the two other men. The police department said the initial shooting happened at a business in the 4800 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Thompson was found shot and taken to the Northside Hospital off Johnson Ferry Road by friends, where police said he later died. |

LYONS — A Wayne County jury deliberated for several hours before convicting a Newark man of killing an Arcadia resident more than two years ago.
In a press release, District Attorney Mike Calarco said Michael Robinson was found guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. His trial started Nov. 27. Robinson, 48, was arrested in March 2023 by sheriff’s office investigators following the June 2021 death of Torey Mathis at Houses Motel on Route 31. The site is just west of the village of Newark. Mathis, 52, was found by sheriff’s deputies in an apartment at the motel after they went to check on his welfare. Sheriff Rob Milby, who was a lieutenant/investigator with the sheriff’s office at the time, said the cause of death was “sharp force injuries.” |

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches woman accused in a 2022 murder has pleaded guilty.
Ashlyne Monique Arrington, 25, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2022, after officers responded to a call in the 1600 block of Martinsville St. in Nacogdoches. Police reportedly found a woman had been shot and killed, and Arrington was arrested on the scene as a suspect in the murder.
Arrington pleaded guilty to the charge on Nov. 16, 2023, according to a judgement of conviction from the 420th Judicial District Court. The document said Arrington accepted a plea deal of 45 years in prison. According to an arrest affidavit, Arrington admitted to shooting the woman, who she said she was in a "relationship" with, after her arrest on Nov. 19, 2022. Arrington will receive 363 days credit for time served towards her 45-year sentence. |

FBI: 60 Mexican / Foreign Nationals Charged with International Drug Trafficking
Eight indictments were unsealed in the District of Columbia, Southern District of California, Central District of California, and Northern District of Illinois charging 60 Mexican and foreign nationals with international heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana trafficking.
The unsealing of the indictments comes at the same time that the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced sanctions against 12 of the defendants linked to the Beltran Leyva Organization (BLO). “The eight indictments unsealed today charging 60 defendants are the latest installments in the Justice Department’s relentless pursuit of drug trafficking organizations that smuggle illicit narcotics into the United States,” said Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. A BLACK FEMALE 20-year-old Michigan mother, Shelby Parham has been charged with assault after police say she punched a grocery store clerk in front of her 1-year-old daughter.
Surveillance video caught the incident unfolding Tuesday at a Kroger store in St. Clair Shores. Police say Shelby Parham was in the self-checkout area prior to walking up to a 49-year-old clerk and hitting her in the face. The woman was knocked flat on the ground, rendered unconscious and suffered a head injury. "It's obviously very clear-cut. There's no questions as to who's at fault here," St. Clair Shores Police Detective Gordon Carrier told FOX 2 Detroit. Investigators say some words were exchanged by Parham and the clerk after her electronic benefit transfer, also known as Bridge card, did not have enough money to cover what she rang up. Parham reportedly asked for help to deduct some of the items from the register, but the clerk could not help her at that moment. "The employee walked away from her. N.C. Court of Appeals upholds convictions, negro gets life sentence for murder of jis pregnant girl-friend Candice Pickens 
ASHEVILLE — Seven years after Candace Pickens was shot and killed in a North Asheville park, the North Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of the man who received an automatic life sentence for her murder.
On July 16, 2019, a Buncombe County jury found Nathaniel Dixon guilty of killing Pickens, his 22-year-old pregnant girlfriend, and shooting her toddler son in the face. Dixon, 27 at the time, was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and malicious maiming, and was acquitted of murder of an unborn child and child abuse while inflicting serious injury. The jurors, all of whom were white, deliberated for about nine hours over two days, the Citizen Times previously reported. On top of a life sentence, Superior Court Judge Greg Horne sentenced Dixon, who is Black, to 207-261 months for the attempted murder of 3-year-old Zachaeus; and 96-128 months for the malicious maiming charge. Two more murder suspects have been charged in last month’s shooting death of an Augusta man on Verdery Street, including a juvenile.
Rodrick Braxton, 15, and Anthony Williams, 20, were charged Wednesday in the Nov. 16 death of M Shakeichia Jackson, 30, was already charged in the murder, and authorities have obtained a murder warrant against a fourth suspect, 19-year-old Cameron Williams, who has not been arrested. There are conflicting reports on a motive, but witnesses said Jackson was in a verbal altercation with the victim, who she lived with. A witness told authorities that Garnett had been abusing Jackson. Also, Jackson reportedly took cocaine from Garnett which caused a disagreement. At some point, the victim’s sister called Garnett’s phone and heard Jackson in the background before the call ended. She called back and Jackson answered. “If he (Garnett) doesn’t have my money tonight, he is going to die,” Jackson reportedly said. “I don’t care.” A tipster told authorities that Jackson’s cousins – Anthony and Cameron Williams – were involved in the homicide of Garnett, who died a day after his 32nd birthday. Braxton is being charged as an adult with murder, but he is being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jury selection begins Wednesday in the trial of Blair Watts, a Montgomery County negro man accused of murdering Jennifer Brown, a (white) Limerick mother who was also his "business partner".
Brown, 43, was last seen on Jan. 3 and relatives knew she was missing after she didn't pick up her son from the bus stop the next day, Jan. 4. Family members said Brown never would have left her sons without letting anyone know. They banded together with community members, who handed out flyers and participated in search parties. Investigators searched the area for more than two weeks before finding Brown's body wrapped in plastic and partially buried at an industrial complex at 5th and Chestnut Streets in Royersford, Pennsylvania. About three weeks later, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele announced charges against Watts. Investigators believe Watts killed Brown and disposed of her body. Damarean Kaylon Bible, a Minneapolis man is now charged for a killing last week in the city’s Phillips West neighborhood.
It happened just outside the Urban Ventures building in the 3000 block of 4th Avenue South on Nov. 29. As previously reported, police were called to the scene at around 9 a.m. on a report of a 'person' down in the courtyard area. Court documents note the victim, 38-year-old Savannah Ryan Williams, was obviously dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office had identified Williams, a transgender "woman" (BORN MALE), by "her" birthname of Miguel Reed Stillday. According to charging documents, investigators were able to review surveillance video from the area, where they saw Williams and a man walking toward where Williams was found at around 5 a.m. that same day. Around 45 minutes later, the man walked away but Williams never did. Officers were able to follow the man all the way from the scene to an apartment building downtown, and they later arrested him as he left. That man, 25-year-old Damarean Kaylon Bible, is now charged with second-degree murder for Williams’ death. CHICAGO — Prosecutors have charged two men with robbing a group of victims at gunpoint in Bridgeport on Thursday morning. One of the men, who was AWOL from a pending felony narcotics case, has a significant criminal background and was found not guilty in a murder case one year ago, according to court records.
Chicago police said Dangelo Jackson, 21, and Jaylan Jackson, 18, are each charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm in connection with the Bridgeport holdups. Dangelo Jackson is also charged with a felony narcotics possession count. They were due in court for detention hearings on Saturday afternoon. Feds charge 2 Negroes with killing man outside ‘Youth Peace Center’ (one was on bail for a gun case) 
CHICAGO — Two Chicago men, including one who was on bail for a Class X felony gun case, have been indicted in federal court in a murder-for-hire scheme that left a man dead outside a youth peace center nearly two years ago.
On Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago announced the charges against Anthony Montgomery-Wilson, 24, and Preston Powell, 23. A federal grand jury returned the true bill in October, but it remained under seal until Monday’s announcement. Both men conspired with others and with each other to murder 24-year-old Stephon Mack outside the Youth Peace Center of Roseland on January 27, 2022, officials said. Two gunmen opened fire on Mack as he exited the building. He was killed, and a Youth Peace Center security guard suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound. Powell is at large, while Montgomery-Wilson is currently incarcerated at the Menard Correctional Center on firearms and stolen motor vehicle charges. |
Oakbrook Terrace shooting: Negress allegedly followed group after argument at hotel pool, fatally shot man 
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. - A Naperville woman is accused of fatally shooting a man inside an Oakbrook Terrace hotel over the weekend.
Latrice Phillips, 51, is charged with first-degree murder. At about 8:15 p.m., Oakbrook Terrace police officers responded to a call of shots fired at the Hilton Suites located at 10 Drury Lane. When officers arrived, they located the victim, identified as Calvin Truitt, with two gunshot wounds to his back and side. Truitt was transported to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries. According to prosecutors, Phillips allegedly got into an argument with a person in a group of people whom she knew at the hotel pool. Truitt was included in that group. |

NORFOLK, Va. - Three men were arrested in connection with a fatal off-campus shooting near Norfolk State University in September.
Marquas L. Gregg, 21, Camari L. Warren, 18, and Cameron C. Brown, 18, have all been charged with the second-degree murder of Jahari George, 20. On September 2 around 11 p.m., police responded to Gate House Road where they found George suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. Gregg, Warren and Brown are all being held without bond. Norfolk State University says (the victim) George was a junior engineering student at the university and was active in many campus organizations and activities. Police say with assistance from a helicopter and K9, one of the suspects was spotted concealing himself by laying on the ground. Officers arrested 32-year-old Jaquan Ross, of Lorton on scene. He was charged with three counts of abduction, three counts of robbery, burglary, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police identified 24-year-old Elijah Thomas, of Dumfries, as one of the men involved. LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect Saturday that they believe is connected to the string of murders involving three homeless individuals. Authorities also believe this suspect is responsible for the follow-home robbery and murder of San Dimas father Nicholas Simbolon earlier this week. Officials arrested 33-year-old Jerrid Joseph Powell on suspicion of all four murders. He was apprehended when his vehicle was stopped by authorities. A handgun recovered from Powell's vehicle following Simbolon's murder was used in the three homeless killings, said LAPD Chief Michel Moore. Powell's vehicle was also present at all four crime scenes, according to authorities. On Tuesday, Simbolon, who worked as a project manager in the Los Angeles County executive office, was found by his wife inside his Tesla in the garage of the home, suffering from a gunshot to the upper body, according to witnesses and sheriff's officials. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. According to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, surveillance video determined that Simbolon was followed home from an electric-vehicle charging station in the 200 block of South Citrus Street in West Covina. The suspect approached Simbolon in the garage, stole some unspecified items, then "senselessly" shot him, said LASD Chief Robert Luna. Through a combination of witness interviews and photographic evidence from the night of Simbolon's murder, authorities were able to upload Powell's license plate number into their law enforcement system. Because of these efforts, Beverly Hills authorities were able to recognize the suspect's plates and detain Powell at a traffic stop later that evening. |

South Carolina truck driver accused of stealing 41,000 pounds of chicken 
SUMTER COUNTY, Ga. - A South Carolina truck driver is in custody after police say he was part of a crime most "fowl" involving a shipment he was supposed to deliver.
According to officials, 55-year-old Christopher Thomas of Florence, South Carolina, was hired by Pilgrim's Pride to deliver around 41,000 pounds of chicken to two locations in Milton, Georgia. Instead of making his delivery, investigators believe Thomas sold part of the load and was planning on selling more before his arrest. Following a tip, deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office traveled to where they said Thomas was going to meet with a buyer and performed a traffic stop. During the stop, deputies searched Thomas' truck and found pallets loaded with cases of frozen chicken that they say were stolen from Pilgrim's Pride. In total, officials say Thomas sold about 33,000 pounds - the majority of the $80,000 shipment. Thomas is facing charges of breach of trust with fraudulent intent. Ben Houchin, chief deputy of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, said Perez's body was found by workers clearing trees in a nearby field. Evans has a history of misdemeanor assault convictions and violating protection orders. Since 2012, three women have filed for harassment or domestic abuse protection orders against Evans. According to the district attorney's office, on September 17, 2022, Buffalo police responded to a reported fight on the 400 block of Berkshire Avenue near Bailey Avenue. Thornton attacked his ex-girlfriend and beat her boyfriend, 29-year-old Nickolas Grazes, with a metal pipe. Grazes died from his injuries. Thornton's ex-girlfriend was treated for injuries to her arm and released from the hospital. Thornton continues to be held without bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 14, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. |

Khadiyjah Aliyyah Pendergraph, 32, of Westminster, was arrested by police in a grocery store parking lot in Aliso Viejo on Friday, the same day her daughter’s body was discovered decomposing in the bathtub of a Westminster apartment they shared. The girl’s father had called police Friday to report his daughter, 9-year-old Victoria, was missing and to request a welfare check on the little girl and her mother after receiving concerning messages from his ex-wife regarding their daughter. When he attempted to pick their daughter up as scheduled on Thanksgiving, the apartment door was locked and no one answered the door. Pendergraph has been charged with one felony count of murder. She faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life if convicted. “While families across America sat down to Thanksgiving dinner with their loved ones, this little disabled girl’s lifeless body was left to rot in a bathtub after being drowned by her own mother,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “Words simply do not exist to express the utter heartbreak knowing this little girl could not even scream for help as her mother pushed her underwater and cut her life so tragically and so unnecessarily short.” |

According to police, security footage shows White driving a Hyundai Sonata to Mason’s residence in the middle of the night on Thanksgiving with Tucker in the passenger seat. Mason can be seen interacting with the pair outside the residence, police said. At one point, while the three were passing firearms back and forth to each other, White allegedly grabbed a firearm from Mason which led to a struggle between the two before Tucker allegedly fired a gunshot to Mason’s head from inside the vehicle. As Mason fell to the ground, dying instantly, the pair fled the scene in the vehicle. Police said Tucker admitted to shooting Mason in the head, while he said White was the getaway driver. White likewise admitted he was the driver, police said, and that they were headed to Mason’s residence that night to rob him with a pistol. |

BLACK Man arrested on murder charge in deadly gas station shooting near Opa-locka 
MIAMI – A South Florida man wanted for a gas station murder east of Opa-locka was arrested by police on Sunday.
Officers took 41-year-old Andre Jermaine Rigby into custody for the murder of 30-year-old Dustin Bennett. According to police, Rigby, of North Miami, and his cousin, 40-year-old Michael Christopher Petty, shot and killed Bennett after they got into an argument on July 30 at the Westar gas station at 715 Opa-locka Blvd., near Northwest Seventh Avenue and Interstate 95. Investigators determined after reviewing surveillance video that Rigby and Petty were driving in a vacuum truck before and after the shooting. After tracking down the business that the vehicle belonged to, police said they spoke with the owners of the business, who identified Petty as an employee and Rigby as his cousin, who they would see around the business. On Sunday, police arrested Rigby in Miami on a first-degree murder charge. It’s not clear whether authorities have located Petty. |
Duluth murder trial to begin; charges filed in second shooting 
DULUTH — A man is set to stand trial this week for an August shooting death that occurred during a confrontation between two feuding groups in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Brandon Capone Williams-Gillard, 25, of Duluth, is accused of aiding and abetting intentional second-degree murder and second-degree assault, along with drive-by shooting, in the killing of 19-year-old Paris Allen. Allen was one of two men shot during the incident on the 2500 block of West Second Street on Aug. 2. Williams-Gillard and another man, Sanussi Tamsir Bangoura, both allegedly fired a number of rounds from a car while attempting to confront Allen’s friend. LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police arrested a man wanted for murder in Georgia after a cell phone pinged near C-Worth Superstore on Versailles Road.
According to the arrest citation, on November 18, around 2:02 p.m., the Versailles Police Department had a cell phone ping that was in connection with a felony murder suspect, as well as aggravated assault out of Georgia with full extradition. Police identified the man as 46-year-old Demetrick Wendall Davis, who was believed to be armed with a pocket knife. Officers say they located Davis at the Red Mile casino and attempted to stop him due to his outstanding felony murder warrant. The arrest citation states that Davis fled on foot and resisted officers by "striking, kicking, and attempting to bite" them. When taken into custody, police say they found a key on Davis linked to a stolen vehicle. |

A woman from the Oxford County town of Denmark is accused of killing two people, including her grandmother and partner.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Fuller Lane at about 2 p.m. Saturday to check on two people who lived there. When deputies arrived, they found both people dead inside. Tzara Jones, 53 of Denmark, was taken to a hospital to be checked out for mental health concerns. She was then charged with two counts of murder. Monday, prosecutors identified the victims as Aremean Mayo, 93, Jones' grandmother, and Jones' significant other, Michael Willett, 69. According to court documents, when police arrived at the home, Jones claimed that Willett was out hunting. Police then were able to learn that Willett was wheelchair bound and not capable of hunting. According to court documents, when police asked to search the home for both Mayo and Willett, Jones was uncooperative and told a Sheriff's Office sergeant that "he was a mongrol and to get down on his knees and pray." He was convicted just days before states began to implement shutdown orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19. She was stabbed in the back outside a residence at Fairview Homes. The 1960s-era public housing development was torn down in 2019. Beale, who’s been representing himself since 2021, filed a motion requesting his release from jail after the abolishment of cash bail under the SAFE-T Act. When Keegan went to arrest Lorick, a struggle ensued and the suspect grabbed the officer's service weapon and shot him in the head. Keegan was just 44 days from an early retirement. He had been planning to quit the force after 15 years so he could start a family. A year later, Lorick was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. He became eligible for parole in 2005, but every time he made a plea for freedom, his request was denied. Police in Humble, Texas are searching for a woman caught on video leaving a dog tied to a dumpster and left to die.

Three male victims raised allegations against Mackey in 2011, two years before the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts informed police they were investigating him. Two of the accounts have not led to charges. According to court records, obtained by the Star, the first victim met Mackey through a scouting activity when he was 11 years old. An Ocala woman and man were both indicted on murder charges for their involvement in the shooting death of a 17-year-old.
Dexavion J'Neil Brown, 23, and Leilani Ashantae Brown, 20, were both arrested on several charges after Lezarius Graham was shot and killed on June 7. According to deputies, while attending a house party, Leilani stole a car in Ocala on June 5 to help facilitate the murder that she was hired to help with. When interviewed by detectives, Leilani said Graham's murder was gang-related and there was "money on his name." Graham originally met with Leilani to sell marijuana to her, deputies said. When they met up, Dexavion was allegedly hiding in the trunk of the car before he folded down the back seat and shot Graham twice. Bond has been set at $2 million for 30-year old Nestor Hernandez, the Carrollton man accused of killing two women at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Hernandez made his first court appearance last night after he was released from the hospital. Hernandez has already signed legal papers saying he doesn't have enough money to afford an attorney. Police reports say when he was put in the back of the Carrollton police patrol car, he slammed his head against the door making a dent. In a statement after the hospital murders, Carrollton police say they were devastated that he didn't stay behind bars where he clearly belonged. MARION COUNTY, Fla — On November 3, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Marion County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives arrested Herbert Swilley for the first-degree murder of his husband, 59-year-old Timothy Floyd Smith.
Police reports state that on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at approximately 10:50 a.m., MCSO deputies responded to an apartment, located at 1980 SE 40th Street Road, Ocala, to conduct a well-being check on Timothy Smith, who did not show up for work on Friday, March 24. When deputies made entry to the residence, they found Timothy deceased. Timothy had a dark ligature mark on his neck and blunt-force trauma to his face and genitalia. Major Crimes Detective Daniel Pinder responded to initiate a homicide investigation. For the next several months, Detective Pinder investigated this case, gathering video surveillance, electronic evidence, and speaking to people who knew Swilley and Timothy. Through the investigation, police discovered that on the night of March 23, 2023, or in the early morning hours of March 24, 2023, Timothy was dosed with a large amount of diphenhydramine (an ingredient in Benadryl and Unisom) that was 30 times higher than the normal therapeutic dose. Following that, Swilley murdered Timothy by choking him to death with an unknown ligature and Swilley then used his own vehicle to transport Timothy’s body from their shared residence to a nearby apartment that they maintained. Once there, Swilley placed Timothy’s body inside, staged a fake crime scene, and attempted to destroy evidence using household cleaning agents. Swilley returned to their residence and then drove Timothy’s vehicle to the apartment where he left it. Swilley then walked back to their residence where he accessed their Ring camera application; investigators later learned that surveillance videos from that night were not present. Then, a few hours later, Swilley drove to the landfill where he dropped off what appeared to be two carpets from their residence before going about his day. |

Black Man charged with murder for North Lawndale fatal shooting 
CHICAGO - A North Lawndale man was charged with murder for a September fatal shooting.
Lamont Johnson, 39, is accused of shooting 45-year-old Dushan Williams on Sept. 29, 2023, Chicago police said. Williams was killed and a woman was wounded when they were both shot standing on a sidewalk at about 11:40 p.m. in the 3300 block of West 16th Street in North Lawndale, police said. Johnson was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder, authorities said. He will make his first court appearance on Saturday. |
New NYC racial equity commission head Linda Tigani linked to group pushing for independent black nation on US land 
The person tasked by the city with bringing “racial equity” to the Big Apple is affiliated with a radical organization that seeks to establish an “independent black nation” on US soil and is demanding reparations.
Linda Tigani, who was appointed chair and executive director of the Commission on Racial Equity last week by Mayor Adams and Speaker Adrienne Adams, worked as an organizer with the New York chapter of the Malcom X Grassroots Movement until 2019. Among its principles is the pursuit of reparations and to “Free the Land,” or to establish an “independent Black Nation on land in north amerikka” comprising South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, according to MXGM’s website. “We say ‘Free the Land’ because We want independence so that we can ensure our Human Rights are protected and that our land will be a zone and base for all who seek liberation and freedom,” the website reads. Tigani proudly features the phrase “working to Free the Land” on her X account, which she made private after the Post last week reported on antisemitic messages she spewed on the platform in recent years. These included a slew of posts including the phrase “from the river to the sea,” which is a call for the eradication of the Jewish state of Israel and its citizens. “It’s alarming to have someone in charge of a racial commission who uses language hinting at erasing any race or throws around racially loaded terms,” Councilman Bob Holden (D-Queens) told The Post. “The city should remove her immediately to ensure the commission truly represents racial equity.” Following The Post’s coverage of Tigani’s hateful posts, the Adams administration said it was discussing next steps with Speaker Adams’ office for the new CORE head, who earned $165,363 in fiscal year 2023 in her previous role as acting chief equity and strategy officer for the city Health Department. One shot, one stabbed in overnight violence in NYC One man was shot and another man stabbed in separate acts of overnight violence in the Big Apple, police said. In the latest incident, a man was stabbed multiple times in the face and torso after being jumped by two men outside the Silvana restaurant, 300 West 116th St., Harlem, shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, cops said. The victim, 39, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said. The attackers ran off. There have been no arrests. Calif. cop involved in shooting of college football player resigns in disgrace over ‘disgusting’ racist texts A (WHITE) California officer is off the force after sending a slew of “disgusting” text messages to a colleague after he was involved in the shooting of a college football player, including one that said, “I hate black people.” Ex-San Jose cop Mark McNamara resigned after it emerged that he penned “disgusting text messages that demonstrated racial bias,” Police Chief Anthony Mata told the Mercury News Friday. The messages were uncovered during an investigation into McNamara’s involvement in a 2022 shooting of a black, 20-year-old college student who had just broken up a fight. Many of the texts seem to reference the shooting last year in which then-officer McNamara shot football player K’aun Green at San José’s La Victoria Taqueria. Green disarmed another man involved in the brawl but ended up being shot when police arrived and saw the gun in his hand, police said at the time. In one text, dated a day after the shooting, McNamara wrote, “N— wanted to carry a gun in the Wild West,” with a second text reading, “Not on my watch haha.” In other messages littered with use of the “n-word,” McNamara mentions the case, writing things like, “I”m pretty sure the district attorney would have charged me if I used excessive force, but she didn’t, because I didn’t use excessive force… I’ll shoot you too.” In one message McNamara notes that black men “should all be bowing to me and bringing me gifts… Otherwise he woulda lived a life of poverty and crime.” Other messages reference him having court “for blasting that fool.” In one message McNamara explicitly wrote, “I hate black people.” “There is zero tolerance for even a single expression of racial bias at the San José Police Department,” Mata wrote. The approximately two dozen messages were discovered during the criminal investigation into the shooting and a separate administrative investigation was launched “immediately,” according to the chief. “These messages came to light in the last few days and hours and that officer is no longer employed with the city,” Mata said. McNamara, who was part of the department for six years, was apparently sending racist messages to a current employee of the department. CHICAGO - New details were released about a mass shooting that happened over the weekend at a Halloween comedy party in North Lawndale.
William Groves, 48, was charged with 15 counts of attempted first-degree murder, 15 counts of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm in an occupied building. According to prosecutors, two comedians rented out a venue in the 1200 block of South Pulaski for a Halloween comedy party over the weekend. The event was advertised on social media and Groves had purchased tickets and attended the event. The manager of the venue later informed one of the comedians who was hosting the event that Groves should be removed from the venue. The manager said he was involved in several incidents, where he was intoxicated and bumping into several people which caused them to spill their drinks. The host then alerted one of the independent security guards who was working the event, and the guard escorted Groves out of the party. A few minutes later, Groves allegedly tried to return to the party, however, another independent security guard working at the party did not allow him back inside. |

Authorities believe that Brown suffers of Munchausen’s syndrome by proxy, a condition in which people are known to fabricate or induce illness in someone under their care, usually a child, sometimes to gain attention, police sources said. The deeply troubling ordeal began May 2, when Brown brought her then-3-year-old daughter to Montefiore Medical Center, claiming the child was on seizure medication and needed more, police said. “She made repeated statements that the child needed the meds that got the staff to administer more doses,” a police source said. Before long, the staff realized the girl had “toxic levels” of the drugs in her blood, cops said. She was “being poisoned by the meds,” the source said. Hospital staff informed Brown of the obvious overdose and took the child off the medication, cops said. The young girl then continued to stay with her mother at the hospital, where her drug levels went down but then spiked again, cops said. During that time, Brown appears to have continued to “discretely administer the meds to life-threatening levels,” the source said. |

An Omaha woman accused of killing two men and injuring a third in a series of shootings since March 2022 has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Erika Mims, 41, faces 11 felony charges — including two counts of first-degree murder — for allegedly killing 46-year-old Lamar Nedd in August 2022 and 39-year-old Laron Hodges in February 2023. She is also accused of shooting and wounding a third man, Ronald Townsend, in March 2022. “She knew all three men previously,” Eric Sellers, the captain of the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Bureau, said at a press conference Monday. “I believe the motivation was money.” In addition to the murder charges, Mims is charged with evidence tampering, unlawful possession of a firearm, use of a gun to commit a felony and attempted first-degree assault. A pre-trial immunity hearing was held over three days in Tuscaloosa over the span of about a month in which the defense argued that Miles should be immune from prosecution because he acted in self-defense on Jan. 15 leading up to the fatal shooting of Jamea Harris. Darius Miles was indicted by a grand jury in March and charged with capital murder alongside vMichael Davis, both of whom have been jailed without bond since Jan. 15. v Investigators said the gun used to kill Harris belonged to Miles, 21, but that Davis, 21, pulled the trigger. Miles has pled not guilty. Pruet repeatedly wrote in the ruling that the defense "failed to establish that (Miles) reasonably feared for his safety." "The defendant failed to establish that he reasonably believed that anyone inside the Jeep was using or about to use deadly physical force or that they were committing or about to commit Assault in the 1st Degree or Assault in the 2nd Degree," Pruet wrote at the end of the 10-page ruling. "Accordingly, the Defendant's Motion is Denied." Pruet noted Miles told investigators he saw a gun passed back in the Jeep that contained Harris, her boyfriend Cedric Johnson and her cousin, Asia Humphrey at the intersection of Grace Street and University Boulevard fewer than 10 minutes before the shooting. But Pruet noted no evidence was presented to him during the pre-trial immunity hearing that Miles claimed to have been scared or threatened, "and he did not claim that anyone pointed the gun at him," Pruet wrote. |

Police have arrested a young man they say shot and killed the journalist and LGBTQ+ activist Josh Kruger in his home earlier this month.
Robert Davis, 19, surrendered without incident and was arrested at the home of his mother in south Philadelphia on Wednesday, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer and other sources. Police say Davis shot Kruger seven times in the chest and abdomen around 1:30 a.m. on October 2. Kruger staggered outside, where he collapsed, and died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Both police and Davis’s family say the two homosexual men had a prior unnatural relationship allegedly beginning when Davis was 15. Davis’s mother, Damica Davis, earlier this month told the Inquirer that her son grew up without a father, suffered from mental health and anger management issues, and had been in and out of several drug rehabilitation programs. She said his drug use and erratic behavior escalated when he turned 15. He started staying out late at night on a regular basis, and the family found drug paraphernalia, including needles, in his possession. When she confronted him about his behavior, she said Davis claimed he was involved with an “older white woman” who “worked for the government” he had recently met online. Kruger was an employee of the city from 2015 to 2020, including as a spokesperson for the Office of Homeless Services and at the Department of Health. Despite being unable to hold down a steady job, Davis started coming home with expensive gifts and clothing he could not afford. Damica told the Inquirer the family was concerned and followed Davis to the same block where Kruger lived, but were unable to determine which house he had entered. She also said she saw the name Josh frequently appear on her son’s phone. Davis said her son only recently confessed that he was involved in a drug-fueled sexual relationship with Kruger and that the white queer journalist-activist was threatening to post sexually explicit videos of the youth online if he didn’t comply with certain (deviant) requests he found objectionable. “He was scared,” Davis told the Inquirer earlier this month after the murder. “He said ‘He wanted me to do some stuff I didn’t want to do and if I didn’t do it, he said he was going to blackmail me.’” At the same time Davis was learning of her son’s alleged involvement with Kruger, anonymous sources confirmed to the Inquirer that investigators had independently identified images and messages described as “disturbing” on Kruger’s phone, and that the matter was forwarded to the Special Victims Unit for further investigation. On Tuesday, the court found Braxton Bird, 19, guilty of one count of murder and one count of criminal recklessness after 28-year-old Rhema Harris was killed in a drive-by shooting in June 2022.
According to court documents, a Snapchat feud escalated into a daylight shooting at a home in the 1900 block of Milburn Boulevard in Mishawaka. Bird, who was 17 years old at the time, was one of two people in a car of five shooting. Of the 20 or so total shots fired, police say five hit the house, and one hit Harris, killing her. Police say Bird was firing the rifle that killed Harris and that Bird’s nephew, Braelyn Rios, who was 14 at the time, had been firing a handgun out of the car. Rios is due back in adult court in November. |

ASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The estranged son of Nashville’s police chief, who was wanted in the shooting of two police officers, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after leading police on a chase in a stolen car, authorities said.
Nashville Police Chief John Drake issued a statement on Wednesday thanking officers for working to locate his son after John Drake Jr., 38, was accused of shooting and wounding two officers in nearby La Vergne on Saturday. “It was my prayer that no harm would come to him or anyone else," the elder Drake said. "I am heartbroken and saddened by the outcome. I appreciate the condolences and kind words of support as my family and I privately mourn our loss.” Metro Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron said in a news conference on Tuesday night that the younger Drake had stolen a car at gunpoint from a home southeast of downtown around 6 p.m. Drake asked a man and woman in front of a home for a ride and when they were unable or unwilling to give him a ride, he pulled out a gun and demanded the car in the driveway, Aaron said. Officers spotted the car a short time later and followed it to the Edgehill area south of downtown, where it crashed. Drake fled to a shed behind a home and when officers surrounded the area, a gunshot was heard, Aaron said. Officers found Drake dead with a gunshot wound that was apparently self-inflicted, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement posted on social media. TBI will investigate Drake’s death at District Attorney Glenn Funk’s request and a full autopsy will be performed as a part of the investigation, the agency said. |
